Absolutely delicious! I'm partial to honey bbq, loved the sweet cornbread with honey butter, the ribs were yummy in my tummy, and ooooo boy those fried green tomatoes!

I was going for some good BBQ according to YouTube this is 1 of 2 if the top BBQ places in st louis, MO. I got there as they opened so you would expect everything to be hot and fresh. It wasn't. Cold, greasy and bland of real flavor. Sadly disappointed but now I know never to return and this is you're warning. Good luck

The brisket was cold or room temperature, the fries were room temperature and very small portions. (like a small fries at McDonald's or something) Honestly it was like cafeteria food at fine dining prices. The order of things was confusing as well. For somebody at their first time through, for some reason, as you walk in the front door that's where people are filling their soft drinks. You have to walk around them and pass the register to tell them what you want over the counter. Then you go back to the register and they ring you up and you pay, then you get your cup and walk backwards towards the front door to fill it, then you stand and wait for your food and then go find your own seat. For the amount of money I spent on a dinner for two I could have gone to Applebee's and gotten steak dinners and been much happier with the food quality. I have no plans to return.

Not a place I would typically choose as a vegetarian but went for a work lunch. I got 5 sides for almost $25 - I only liked two of them (fries and cornbread with honey butter). Pictured is the Mac and cheese which is underwhelming in flavor and texture. The squash au gratin was a big miss for me. And the cherry pretzel fluff felt old maybe - not a lot of cherries or pretzels the pretzels were pretty squishy which I understand happens when they sit in the fluff, just not what I want to eat. A couple others in the work party were disappointed in their sides (potato salad and green beans) and the overall price. The staff I interacted with was nice and did breakdown the vegetarian sides for me. One even mentioned that they do have a fried green tomato sandwich. I did enjoy 3 of the 4 bbq sauces, the white one is just not my taste. The STL Sweet was my favorite. The atmosphere overall is loud.

It’s no wonder this place has changed for the worse. They discontinued the Smoked Portobello sandwich they had for years. Good luck vegetarians who come here. They don’t want you. Reading these reviews and seeing the owner reply in such distasteful, disrespectful manner is the most offensive I ever witnessed. What is wrong with you people. A customer explains why you should bring out the food at the same time, not 15 minutes later and you publicly insult him and insist he is a cheapskate. Wow! Absolutely trash owner. I’m telling everyone about what has happened. Maybe if enough people get on top of this issue we can affect change and get back a quality restaurant.

The prices are outrageous for what it is, the meats are pretty good but man, the sides are absolutely bland and not good at all considering the prices they charge for everything. Mac and cheese was totally bland, the coleslaw was totally bland and had no dressing, the potato salad was depressing, no flavor at all. But if you go for just the meat it’s not that bad. The brisket tends to be good but it is extremely fatty, the jalapeño sausages are really good!

The potato salad is awful. Pulled Pork was ok. I'm not really a fan of Sugarfire, but they are great at supporting local people when there is a devasting event in the area (flooding a couple of years back). So, when I'm at that end of town, I try to stop in. This is a locally owned business, and I try to support local businesses when possible.

I'm being a little generous with the 3 stars, but 2.5 isn't an option. This is a BBQ place southwest of St. Louis. Near the freeway and right next to the hotel. They have really strong reviews so I tried it. I found it very average. I ordered the 4 Bone Ribs with a side of mac&cheese. I pretty much never get appetizers, but I could not resist trying the Pork Belly Hushpuppies. I should have resisted. The hushpuppies came out after I was more than half done with my dinner. They were very dark brown from over-frying. Inside, the dough was dry and almost completely devoid of flavor. I guess they wave the pork belly by the deep fryer while they're cooking as there was no evidence of any pork belly in them. They came with a container of what was billed a jalapeno jelly. Again, I guess they wave the jalapenos at it from another room. The only thing I could taste was the sickly sweet sugar. The ribs were overdone and dry. The rub had a bit of flavor so that helped. There were four sauces on the table. I tried all the red ones. I will not every try anything called white bbq sauce. All three reds tasted straight out of bottle. None of them were the least bit interesting. The mac and cheese was actually not bad. Nice, thick cheese coating. I could be wrong but it may very well have been house made. The absolute star of the meal was the locally brewed stout. Overall, very average to below average.

**Review for Sugarfire Smokehouse** I recently visited Sugarfire Smokehouse with a friend and had an overall excellent experience. The restaurant offers a wide variety of options, ensuring there's something for everyone. The smoke rings on the meat were subtle, and the tenderness and juiciness of the meat were impressive. I opted for the brisket dip, which came in a generous portion. While the taste was delightful, I found the amount of cheese to be overwhelming and ended up removing about half of it. Despite this, the dish was still quite enjoyable. Sugarfire Smokehouse is a place I would definitely recommend. The quality of the barbecue and the variety of choices make it worth a visit. I'll be returning to try more of their menu in the future.

We went to Sugar Fire based on the recommendations of some locals who said this was the best barbecue in Missouri. They weren't wrong. Sugar Fire's atmosphere is very festive and celebrates what they do: barbecue. Their restaurant is very casual with lots of options to dine in or take out. There is plenty of seating inside and out. They have loads of different sauces to try. We had never had horseradish barbecue sauce before and it was pretty good. My personal favorite was the honey badger sauce. This was a sweet sauce with a nice kick to it. The staff was very friendly and knowledgable. We ordered the three meat plate with two sides. We ordered the brisket, ribs, and pulled pork. For our sides, we ordered baked beans and sweet potato bread pudding. The sides were very good. The sweet potato bread pudding was unlike anything I have ever had. It was very good and almost tasted like a dessert! The baked beans were very good as well. Our favorite meat was the brisket (far and away the best). The bark on the brisket was delicious and it was very tender. It didn't need any sauce. We thought the pulled pork came in second. It was very juicy and tender as well. I have to be honest: we were disappointed with the ribs. They were dry and tough. Definitely not what I was expecting after the brisket and pulled pork. The three meat plate filled us up nicely and we were glad we split it. We enjoyed our experience at Sugar Fire and wouldn't hesitate to return.

Sugarfire Smoke House is a BBQ lover's paradise! From the moment I stepped through the doors, I knew I was in for a treat. They're not just serving up your run-of-the-mill barbecue – they're taking it to a whole new level! First off, let's talk about the brisket. Oh. My. Goodness. It's like biting into a slice of heaven – perfectly smoked, tender, and bursting with flavor. And don't even get me started on the andouille sausage – it's spicy, smoky, and downright addictive. But it's not just about the meats here. The cole slaw is the perfect side dish – crunchy, creamy, and just the right amount of tangy. And let's not forget about their amazing selection of housemade pies and shakes! Each one is a little slice of dessert heaven. What really sets Sugarfire apart is their creativity. Their specials are out of this world – meaty mashups that defy logic and even gravity. Where else can you find BBQ with artichokes, cheese curds, and mushrooms all in one place? Whether you're a BBQ aficionado or just looking for some darn good food, do yourself a favor and check out Sugarfire Smoke House. You won't be disappointed!

Outstanding Q here, but BE FOREWARNED: GET HERE AS EARLY AS YOU CAN AND DEFINITELY BEFORE 6PM - THEY RUN OUT OF MEAT QUICK!! Specifically ribs and brisket, and good luck finding rib tips and burnt ends. Other than that flaw, this place is great. The cuisine is uniformity high quality (especially the sides), all varieties of their BBQ sauces are tasty, the variety is excellent, the portions are generous, service is friendly, and everything is reasonably priced. The specials are always imaginatively presented and always worth trying. Avoid the desserts, though 👎.

Ribs? Three of the four were great but that end rib was almost crunchy overdone. Brisket? Great! Beer-braised cabbage? Excellent. Cole slaw? Good. I was hoping for turkey breast but they were sold out at 7pm. We got a takeout order this evening and brought it next door to Mackenzie Brewing because what goes better with beer than barbecued meat? I like the self-service sauces, getting one of the Honey Badger and one of the Texas Hot. Both went really well with the brisket, the honey going better with the ribs. The meal was well packed for the journey (about 30 steps down the shopping center) and still quite hot. I'd do this again though I suggest you check the ribs to make sure they're all good.

The quality of this place has really gone south in the last year. Looking at other reviews, it appears it was great 7+ months ago. I had the pulled pork and my friend got the brisket. Both of our “meat” plates were so fatty to the point we were bounce testing which bites were worth attempting to chew. The Mac n Cheese tastes like it was cooked this morning in chafing dishes and the beans weren’t anything to write home about either. We will be going to Dalies BBQ at big bend and Dougherty ferry for west county bbq. Maybe the Hot Pizza Cold Beer stole the owners focus away from the place that made him successful.

The food was good. You enter, grab a cup and fill your soda, order at the counter like at a butcher shop or cafeteria, pay at the end and wait for your order and name to be called. My wife got the meat platter, and I had the Philly brisket sandwich. Platter was a lot of meat (brisket, turkey, chicken, sausage and ribs) and was filling. She had to take some home. It's more than enough for 2 people to split, we know this now. The Philly was huge and stuffed with a lot of meat, BUT it was also smothered in a cheese sauce that I felt was too much. It covered up the taste of the brisket entirely. So maybe next time, I'll ask for just a little cheese instead. Fries were crispy but were more like broken ends, nothing more than an inch in length. I might have gotten the bottom of a bag or whatever was left in a pan. Chairs are hard metal with no cushions, so if you have lower back issues... you won't be comfortable.

Waited over 15 minutes for my wife's order, everyone else got their food within 5 minutes. Out of the 3 Sugarfires I have been to, 2 in the STL area and one in Washington Mo this one was the worst.

05-22-23 I just love their beef brisket and turkey! I also love the way they make their green beans and baked beans! I encountered a very small issue during the meal, but the manager made everything right in a very gracious manner. I'm a regular customer, and will continue to be!

When it comes to bbq in the STL area Sugarfire Smokehouse is the mad scientist of the area. The specialty creations and daily specials are the things of either a mad scientist bbq chef or a well thought execution of food. Take for example the chicken biscuit smoked chicken then dowsed with hot sauce on a buttery flaky biscuit that just melts in your mouth. Brisket cheese steak for a philly inspired sandwich. All the meats are moist and juicy with distinct smoke rings on the outside. The sauces are a variety for everyone from carolina mustard, sweet st louie, a blazing peppery hot sauce for the heat lovers, and even a white bbq sauce for something you don’t see every day. If you are hungry for an appetizer try the pork belly hushpuppies for a twist on a classic. They have a variety of locations in the STL area with daily specials and decent prices. Kid friendly kids menu $$

The pork and the ribs are incredible. We really liked both the cookie and mud pie for dessert. We may stay at the Drury Inn everytime we're in or passing through saint Louis to be able to run next door and grab some great eats.

Driving through St. Louis, you can’t help but stop for BBQ. Sugarfire didn’t disappoint! The Big Rib Muddy was an epic sandwich - you won’t leave here felling hungry! It was a delicious BBQ masterpiece! The potatoe salad was the perfect side! Mmmm! Good!

This pains me to write, and the fact is that this place has gone down hill. The BBQ and sides aren't what they were three years ago, and they're now charging the "bleep you" credit card fee. I used up the last of a gift certificate, and unless corporate looks closely at this place it's only going to get worse. Everything is just mediocre now, and the feel of it is worse than mediocre. If you're in the area, go to Dallies which is only ten minutes away

It was loud, crowded and the employees not helpful. They have an odd assortment of fountain drinks. The food was good, pricey for what you got with no service at all.

Excellent food. Service was mostly serve your self. Atmosphere was classic BBQ joint. Chairs were never desined for comfort. Bit pricey but generous portions and quality cuts.

The food was very good ... Service however was atrocious.... Girlfriend and I went to eat there for the first time ... We ordered two different items from the menu .... They gave me my food and made us wait 15 minutes for us to get her food .. which by the time she got hers mine was cold .... I understand that they want to run it cafeteria style ... But 1.( When a couple comes in they need to get there food at the same time ... Very rude to eat Infront of someone your on a date with ... While they are waiting on their food . 2.( If you want to run it Cafeteria style you need to drop them prices ... I paid 16.00 for cold food ... That's not acceptable...

Bad service, screwed up my order and when I called could care less about the error. Had to drive all the way back out, wait and deal with their apathy.
