Best cheeseburger and onion rings in newberry county.

70 years old and going strong. Simple food, cooked well. Everything tasted fresh. Onion rings in particular were fantastic.

Roaches! They have roaches! I killed one in the middle of lunch rush with people going in and out, some sitting in there eating, and when I canceled my order and quietly told the older lady behind the counter why, she said, "Yes, we have a little problem, but we're trying to take care of it. Pest control comes twice a month." No thanks!! ... and... They need to shut down and clean everything!!

The food was good, the service was fine, the atmosphere was just a plain "ol' hole in the wall" which is fine. I got the Tom burger.

Fries no salt! Burger the chilli plain. Slaw no word on taste.

We come from Inman, SC near Spartanburg. We came to that place they just put sign on the door. By the way it was almost 8:00pm and it says “ to go order only” why they didn’t mention on website. It will save my time and gas to come over there. I wanted to eat there because of 4 1/2 stars good reviews. What a disappointing.

One burger the bun was over cook. It was suppose to be all the way but only had cheese on it.And the frieds were cold.

A perfect spot for Diners Drive ins and Dives. As this place is not for someone that wants ambiance, just good food served by great people. The cheeseburgers are the best. Add chili for even more flavor.

Great food and no they don't season unless you ask because of dietary needs. Beer onion rings are made at the factory no idea if they use beer or not. Business since 1954 so they doing something right and also voted best burger in Newberry every year by the public in the Newberry Observer poll. I guess when they have more help they'll dine in again.

Summers is always good even if it is an hour wait for a burger, being that long of a wait tells you the food is cooked to order, all good nothing is made ahead of time just sitting there, guess that means the food is good. As far as seasoning goes it isn't used because there is a majority of the customers that can't eat with seasoning and salt but seasoning salt is available. Beer battered onion rings come in to us already battered they are not made.on site.

Not at all like the Summers of years past. Kids running the show. You cannot dine in anymore and the food was horrible. We had hamburger steak plates. Absolutely no seasoning at all. Beer batter onion rings did not taste like beer batter at all. Way too expensive for the quality if the food. I do not recommend.

Solid.. but not exceptional as the reviews make it. I'm assuming it's small town biases they been around for 3 generation I hear. But for a solid burger and an hour wait come here.

THE BEST HAMBURGER IN THE COUNTY!!!

Do NOT be taken aback by the nearly complete lack of curb appeal. This place was recommended by a family member who attended Newberry College. We stopped on the way to watch some Division II college baseball on a beautiful Saturday. Despite five booths inside, Covid has forced, and continues to enforce, a take-out-only policy. But, Summer's didn't disappoint. The burgers are AMAZING. Period. The fries weren't crunchy enough for our liking but were still tasty. And the tea was perfect.

One of the worker came out the bathroom to take my order, but before she asked to take my order after waiting 15 minutes, she move the candy dishes. I stated that I have waiting for 15 minutes and I never touch the candy dishes which are free to customers. She stated that she did want any problems. Then, she asked what can I get you? I stated that you cannot get me anything. I turned around and walk out the door. Totally unprofessional workers, and rude. 😪 I had been going to Summer since early 90's. Please get better help because your faithful customers will leave due to treatment. This is definitely bad for any business.

I strongly suggest the BBQ plate with the beer battered onion rings. It's so good

The best cheeseburger this side of texarkana! The chilli was gold and the burger itself was platinum quality beef! The prices are great and the service was fantastic!

Sadly ate here today for the 1st time we work in area often, Own E. Thompson Roofing Company will not be the last visit!! The best bought cheeseburger I have ever ate, don't expect fancy nor precooked food! Cook your burgers when ordered, hand pattied, very friendly people. Don't expect fast food it's not, fresh cooked perfection!! Chili everything awesome!!!

Cheesebite is also recommended. I stayed in Columbia, SC and commute to Newberry for work about two years. Summer's was one of the restaurants where keeps me think about it after I came back. Please mind they open only Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. You can find it in the google drive. The cheeseburger was definitely best There are a few more restaurants that I am recommendable around Newberry, which I will track down and leave my review.

I knew Tom Summer who started Summer's Restaurant back in the 1950's. I ate hundreds of burgers and hamburger steaks while in high school and college. This restaurant is owned by his grandson. I had a hamburger steak and the flavor of the meat was delicious. It brought back many pleasant memories. If you want a hamburger cooked the "old way," then this is the place to visit. It's small and not much to look at, but the food is excellent.

As others have said, don't judge Summers by the outside. It is a very old, very small (seats 20), family owned restaurant. Plain, simple and clean inside, the food is very good with large portions. You'll probably need your GPS just to find it in a mostly residential neighborhood. If you want fancy, don't go here. If you want good food selected from a surprisingly varied and extensive menu, do go here. Nice people in business since 1954.

The food here is great. It's a small restaurant but very clean with friendly staff. Food is very reasonable. Try the BBQ sandwich, you'll never go anywhere else! If I could give 10 stars I would!

Every time I have visited Summer's I have been treated to a step back in time and an incredible meal. I love that the grill is right out in the open, so you can watch your incredible hamburger being cooked. Their burgers are amazing, but other options, including their BBQ sandwiches, are also quite delicious. Their salads are also quite good. You may be tempted to pass on by when you see the building (assuming you can find it), but you'd be doing yourself a disservice to do so. It ain't fancy, but man, is it good. You'll enjoy it.

2nd time visiting I live in Columbia,but when I'm in the area I try to stop in,the food is cooked when ordered, fresh and delicious both times. I'll be back. Don't let me forget about the staff very friendly down to earth. I like it like that.

Hard to beat just a fresh, down home burger that has been consistently good for the last 3 decades that I know of personally. I suspect it has been around a lot longer than that though. Get the salad rather than the Cole slaw. Just my personal suggestion. This is one of those hole in the wall places you always hear about. Well worth the time in my opinion. Enjoy !

Went here while in town for business both days we were there, absolutely great food! I've drove 80 miles twice since then to come eat here. I have never been disappointed! This sets the bar for home cooking!!!
