I have been waiting to go here for a while! Ever since I saw them on Triple D I knew I had to go especially since Tybee is a second home for us. I can't believe we missed this gem on our previous visits! Anyways...it was AMAZING! The best food I've had on the island so far. Everything was delicious! I really enjoyed their featured item the oyster flatbread! I hope they keep it on the menu! The Calamari and Fried Green tomatoes were delicious too. Reservations highly recommended. Street parking available but not free on the Park TYB app. The free parking in the parking lot is limited.

I have eaten at a lot of fancy steakhouses in my life and the blackened prime rib with lobster chilli churri from here puts them all to SHAME. This may have been the best piece of meat that I have ever eaten. The service was fantastic. The restaurant was casual and low key. I would recommend this spot to everyone and anyone. 11/10 rating for a perfect meal with great service.

Hidden Gem of Tybee Island. From the outside it doesn't seem like much but the food here is top quality. We had a 9oz filet with fried shrimp, skillet potatoes and brussel sprouts. The filet was tender and juicy and further enhanced by the brandy steak sauce. The shrimp was plentiful, crispy and tasted fresh. The potatoes were the show stopper: cubed and covered in a cheese sauce with bacon pieces, amazing. The brussel sprouts were seasoned and cooked so well I forgot they were brussel sprouts for a moment. Topped it all off with a Reese's pie which capped off an amazing dinner experience. 10/10 recommend and will return! Also, the biscuits and peach jam we had while we waited was exceptional, get em if you can.

We came two nights in a row… because the steaks blew our minds! We live in Miami, with access to any food you can think of, and this is hands down the best steak we’ve ever had. My husband ate blackened prime rib and I ate the filet. We both recommend the sweet potato side! Emily and Crystal were outstanding servers. From the outside it’s so unassuming (attached to a gas station) and the name doesn’t imply anything exclusive either - but you’d miss the best hidden gem on the island if you skipped this place on your trip.

We ordered a takeout on a Saturday evening and the food was terrible. The creole pasta I ordered had no more than four shrimps and the remaining was just pasta. They charged us 18% "gratitude" ($23.40) for takeout, which is totally unheard of. I won't recommend this place for ordering takeout.

They didn’t want to seat just one person. Choice was sit at the bar or leave. I went to Sting Rays. Had great food and service there. Your restaurant came highly recommended and that is why I wanted to try it. I was looking for the best shrimp n grits and it was yours that was suggested to me. I won’t be back though. Never been treated like that anywhere on the island and we have been coming for years.

Found this place probably like most because of diners, drive ins, and dives. Man was this place good. Wife had the mixed seafood platter and I had the special which was a Cajun seafood pasta. We got reservations for the bar, both were excellent. The bartender was knowledgeable about the ingredients, dishes, and told us she goes to pick up the fresh shrimp herself just down the road. The key lime pie was homemade as well. This place is a must visit.

The food was good and the service was ok. But they let some big mouth local lady spout profanities the whole time we were eating. I did NOT want to hear that trash and there were also children in there. The owner shouldn’t let ANYONE behave that way. Apparently she can get away with it because she’s a regular. Is this a dive bar or a fine dining cafe? It’s embarrassing and it ruined our evening.

We had dinner for six at Sundae Cafe on a Tuesday night. This is a small restaurant in a strip shopping center on Tybee Island. We made a reservation and our table was ready when we arrived. Our waitress was very attentive and knowledgeable. We ordered the Oysters Rockefeller as an appetizer, which was delicious. We tried various items on the menu, including the steak, the fresh catch special, the jerk shrimp, the scallops and the shrimp tostadas. The tostadas were served cold, which I didn’t anticipate, but still tasty. Everyone enjoyed their meal and thought the food was excellent. We were there about 1.5 hours. We also had dessert to go and enjoyed that as well. Several of our group felt it was the best meal we had all week. Highly recommend!

Where do I start? The hostess was pleasant and accommodating to our seating request. The atmosphere is friendly and intimate, 14 tables and 10 seats at the bar. The servers, Julie and Jules were the absolute best ever. The fried green tomatoes alone are worth the trip. The bone in Ribeye was one of the best steaks I’ve ever had and I’ve had the best, St Elmo’s in Indy, and Morton’s to name a few. Even the potato side, twice baked skillet potatoes was worth mentioning. Bottom line is if you’re anywhere near Tybee and you don’t come to Sundae Cafe, you’re missing out.

My husband and I stopped in today for dinner and the hostess asked if we had reservations, which is common for out-of-towners I'm sure. We didn't have a reservation so she said she could have a table for us in about 45 minutes. We let her know we were across the way doing laundry. She mentioned she would contact us if something came available sooner. She took down our name and number. So we finished laundry, now an hour later and nothing. To my husband's disappointment, no contact. Either our money wasn't green enough or we had too much melanin for their establishment. Skip this place.

I read all the lovely reviews and I don't like being the one negative one..........if I can't say anything good, I am told don't say anything. Well, the waitress was wonderful and she kept coming back asking us how was the food. I liked her so much, I said it was good. My husband's food was so bland, as was my green tomatoes. We laughed and said, even the salt needed salt. Nothing helped the steak or the mashed potatoes or the green tomatoes. A very expensive disappointment! My calamari was okay, but nothing to toot your horn about for the price we paid. I was expecting everything to melt in my mouth. I guess we caught it on a "bad" day because my review doesn't match the others. Very expensive and not worth it would be my conclusion. Nevertheless, hats off to the waitress....Maybe Julie was her name. I was so disappointed I forgot my own name. Again, very expensive for the location and the food........

Do not let the "strip mall" exterior deter you from the sumptuous delights inside. A delightful place with such well prepared food....beyond anything I have ever experienced on Tybee. You owe it to yourself to try the unique and delightful preparations on traditional southern seafood. The seared scallops were huge and delicious. The fried shrimp had the most delightful light breading. The sides are incredibly creative. The orange chocolate martini was divine and we took home the banana pudding cheesecake for later. The service was stellar and the ambiance was friendly and fun. Thank you Sundae Cafe.

My wife and I made a reservation for this place on a beautiful Saturday afternoon. The food was superb. Let me make this very clear to the readers. This is the best place to eat on Tybee. Period. I have ate at every restaurant on Tybee and this blows the competition away. Pricing is comparable to what you are putting in your body. This is a farm to table style restaurant and they even list their food sources on their site. Bottom line here is that this is the best place to eat other than a few places downtown. This is culinary art at its finest. Been living here for over 8 years and this is the best food I have had since living here. I also frequent The Vault, and the elite 4/5 star restaurants downtown. Make no mistake Sundae Cafe is the best. 5 stars hands down.

My had the shrimp, twice baked potato and the sweet potatoes. I had the ribeye with some kind of glaze on it and scallops. Started off with the pimento cheese which is a heavenly cheese ball. The hushpuppies were great. ( I'm a hush puppy connoisseur lol). The ribeye was a medium rare to perfection, garlic mashed potatoes had great flavor. My wife's sweet potatoes were covered in pecan cinnamon magic and were amazing. My wife said her shrimp was to die for. We sat at the bar and our hostess was great and so kind. Outstanding! The food was perfect! It was a bit on the pricier side of restaurants but was worth every penny. Two, parking is limited close to the restaurant.

It's a small place, and this is by no means their fault, but just 1 small crowd of a very loud grp was annoying. My husband and I could barely hear ourselves. They made our nice little date night kind of rowdy. Again. Not the restaurants fault but if you are looking for a quiet night this might not be the place. But if you are looking for excellent food with even better service, this is the place to be. Oh and if they have a dish that sounds a little hmm. Try it anyway. We had the pork belly cheese cake. I look at three things when grading a restaurant. 1. Quality of food. 2. Service. 3. Atmosphere. The Sundae Cafe is a 5 star for the food and the service. We had the prime rib dinner and it couldn’t have been better. Taylor was our server and she was a sweetheart. She’s very nice, attentive ,and explained everything thoroughly. The only reason for the 4 star review is I give the atmosphere a 2. The restaurant is located in a little strip mall with a convenience store on one side and gas pumps on the other side and very little parking. It’s way too small and VERY noisy inside and no outside dining. I wish they would find another location where these issues would be resolved, although that could be a problem on Tybee Island. Note: a huge plus is they cook everything in olive oil and butter. NO TOXIC SEED OILS!

Casual dining. Overrated. This restaurant is popular locally. Seating has to be booked in advance. The food was ok, old oil used, fried seafood was oily, overcooked, and asparagus were overcooked, in comparison to the one seafood restaurant next door. First time in a restaurant I left without finishing the plate and not ordering any dessert. I was disappointed with the overall. It’s loud in the restaurant. The IPA was delicious though. The dish shown, Seafood Mixed Grill was $54. I enjoyed the pan seared scallops.

First visit here. Exceeded my high expectation. You just have a reservation. Our inn hosts say some people reserve spots 6 months in advance ….but we got 2 seats at the bar, at 8:45 pm. Everything was great. Lively packed place. Charming blond hostess meets you at the door. No edit. Our seats were waiting for us. How about that? Great menu selection including daily specials. Both of our menu choices were excellent. Great taste, minimal serve time, served hot. It’s a small place so the noise level was rather high. Every table was full for our entire visit. Servers rush in and out of the busy kitchen. Family units including kids are present. It is high energy spot. Not for romance, or first dates, or weary travellers. Our bartender Doug was charming. Not phoney, professional, practiced charm….just a nice attentive helpful efficient guy who smiles. This is an efficient well-run place. Glad we went. Would go back again any time. Highly recommend.

THEY OVERBOOK‼️ highly recommend if you want to loiter in a gas station parking lot for an hour past your reservation time. The staff was sincere and I am in no way blaming them for our experience. However if a reservation is promised to a customer I consider this to be a breach of contract if a restaurant fails to inform the customer of the delay before their arrival and fails to accommodate the customer when the cause of the delay is a family who has already finished their food and is just “hanging around”. If this is how they treat their customers before even serving them food there’s no telling the quality of food they are choosing to put on your plate. If you’re looking for real food and service with a smile I highly recommend Pizza on Wheels and Sugar Shack next door.

Who would guess that this little, unassuming restaurant would put out such consistently excellent fine dining dishes? The menu is nearly all seafood, although our helpful, friendly waitress, Julz, shared that their steaks are outstanding. We tried two cocktails. Mine was Chocolate Haven, an enticing blend of dark and white chocolate liqueurs and chocolate vodka. It was creamy and smooth, served in a martini glass with chocolate shavings on the frothy top layer. Hubs had a Peach Mule, which was good enough to justify having another. We tried two appetizers. The fried green tomato was beautifully presented with four plump tomato slices fried to a perfect crisp and served with goat cheese, balsamic vinegar, and micro greens. Excellent. Our friends tried a special seafood “cheesecake,” which was a silky, savory square of very tasty minced shellfish. They loved it. I got halibut with a huge aronchini filled with tasty tomato sauce and chunks of sausage. The fish, perfectly cooked and covered with a white sauce, was further enhanced by a tomato based chutney. The combination of sauces was perfect. Friends had the special meatloaf and a plate of fried shrimp and flounder, both delicious. We also tried the blue cheese biscuit bread pudding, a large square of savory blue cheese goodness. The meal came with a crusty, sour dough Italian bread with Italian dressing for dipping. Yes, the bread was warm. Since portions are generous, we took home a slice of banana pudding cheesecake. It was light and tangy, with a few caramelized banana slices and whipped cream, and very good, although not quite at the level of the savory dishes. The atmosphere is casual, the noise level low enough to allow conversation. The small, hard chairs at our table were not very comfortable, but seating on the banquette was fine. Prices are fairly high; entrees from mid 30s to nearly 50, but honestly worth it. Reservations needed; on a Wednesday night off-season the place was full and people were being turned away. Allow time to find parking. Bottom line: This place was so good we looked into going back for lunch the next day. Unfortunately, it wasn’t open.

I had key lime pie, but when I got it home, it looked like someone had put a cherry cheesecake in the container, then switched it out. So my key lime was laying in a bed of fruit topping. Piece was tiny, as was the wife's, and we spent just under $25 for the 2 pieces.

Like Biden, the Sundae Cafe at Tybee was overpriced, overdone and past its prime although well meaning. THE MOST expensive tasteless meal we ever had. Our out of town guest were really let down after hearing all the great attractions in Savannah. When they told us they were staying at Tybee, I said why? I grew up down there. The Waffle House is 5 Star. Recommend? Eat before coming to Tybee. You know how the USDA grades meat? There's Prime, Choice, and Select. Then the lower grades are Standard, Commercial, Utility, Cutter, and Canner. This was just shy of Utility but were charged like we were at Morton's of Chicago. I get it. Tybee , tourist trap and food cost. I lost respect for Tybee when they blocked the view of the ocean front from the curve 18th. I'm not a food snob but if you want to RETURN to your establishment provide a fair priced meal with a smattering of taste. The highlight of the evening was going next door to Chu's to get a Reese's Peanut butter cup to displace the aftertaste. Sundae earned my review. If Gerald's Pig and Shrimp was still in business, it would have been on par with that. The presentation was OK. There, I said something nice. Here's a tip for the waitress. You shouldn't lean on the dinner table like it was a rigging post for a horse. Whitewashing (the truth) the reason the appetizers didn't come before dinner and even during by throwing the chef under the bus wasn't professional. TREAT PEOPLE FAIRLY OR THEY'LL LEAVE REVIEWS LIKE THIS. Try the Breakfast Club. Real diner food. At least they've kept the spirit of fairness and taste alive at Tybee.

So Savannah and Tybee island GA is one of my favorite cities to visit. The history, the sea, and of course the food. Wow, this place is a gem and according to the locals one of the best. After eating here I would have to agree and so does my party! 👍 Amazing food. The oyster Rockefeller are some of the best we have ever had. The ribeye steak was unbelievably good, perfect sear and medium rare. The fried oysters are to die for. Some of the best I ever had. Has a full service bar and the old fashioned, mules, and Manhattans were good. If you are in the area; definitely check this place out. Reservations are a must. Be aware this place is $$$$. This was one of the best meals any of us had awhile. 😁

Although the food was ok the restaurant is uncomfortable. Metal chairs or a dark tight booth were our options. Both uncomfortable. Arrived five minutes before our reservation and were told to leave even though no one was in the place. Chicken was dry and wanted to split dinner with my husband and told there was a 10.00 charge. Sorry will not be back.

Who doesn't love Sundae Cafe? Best food on Tybee, and the number one place I recommend for my vacation rental guests. I can't think of a negative. What else can be said?

Not what I thought with the great dinner reviews. Lunch was ok, but my expectations were higher and parking was tough being next to a liquor store and gas station.

Our visit to Sundae Cafe was incredible! From the kindness of the person we spoke with on the phone when making a reservation, to the vibe and atmosphere of the restaurant itself, to the delicious food, to the incredible service we received from our waitress, Taylor. We are a family of 6 (two adults, 4 kids) visiting Tybee on our way home to New Brunswick, Canada after visiting Disney. We’d heard about Sundae Cafe several times before taking our trip so we knew it was a must and boy… we were not disappointed! The food was amazing. We only wish we could have tried every dish! Try the seafood cheesecake!!! Yummm! Taylor, our waitress, was an absolute sweetheart. She was spot on with her recommendations. She was so kind to our girls who loved her Christmas tree earrings! She also went out of her way to make our experience in town even better. The night we were visiting just happened to be Tybee’s Christmas Parade. Taylor kindly shared this with us so we could take our kids and it was the perfect finish to our evening after the best meal.

This gem is awesome! Our server Taylor made our first visit a memorable one! My husband had the rib eye/crab cake special and was literally licking the plate! (It was because of the sauce)! I had the jambalaya pasta...the blend of shrimp/andouilaise sausage and Asiago sauce was spot on ! Make a reservation...even in mid November...it was packed!

Great server named Julie who described everything so well. We had the seafood cheesecake with our gin and tonics. Then the veal cop with grilled artichokes and a side of fried oysters. All delicious . Always my first stop in Tybee. Thanks for a great meal on a cold day! My husband loved the butternut squash lasagna.
