We love bringing the dog here and hanging out and relaxing. My wife loves to pick up the little Stones everywhere of course. Always very relaxing.

To start, this is a beautiful beach. However, coming from a 61 year old who spent his entire childhood and teenage years coming to this area I noticed changes. This year I came down for the first time in awhile. What happened to all the little stones and Cape May diamonds that used to be on the beach. It's mostly sand now. And the big boulders that went out into the bay. Also The Grille is no longer there. It's The Fish House. I know they put fresh sand all over the Cape May beaches but come on. It's just not the same as it was. I am so thankful I grew up in the 70's when this was still a really special place. At least they can't take away the beautiful sunsets. And the Atlantis is still visible.

Good food at the restaurant,very nice gift shop.. Humbling to be a part of the flag lowering ceremony.... been going to sunset Beach for over 60yrs 👍👍

Love this gift shop. You can Always find something for a souvenir here. Lots of sea glass items, hot sauces, lawn signs, soaps and shells to name a few! Clean restrooms and there is miniature golf too.

Vacation - beach, great little shops, mini golf, good food and sunsets

Get there early if you plan on seeing the sunset, parking was down the street about a mile

Sunset Beach is as beautiful as always. Mini golf is one of the features and there are a few other shops/restaurants. I would recommend riding a bicycle if able due to the large amounts of people that drive. Sometimes it's difficult to find parking and the traffic heading out can be dense.

This place was super nice! The prices were reasonable for a gift shop, and the employees are super helpful, and even appraised the cape may diamonds I found!

Such a beautiful place. Would definitely recommend everyone go at least once. Only thing I'd recommend is a place to wash the sand off your feet, besides that it'd an amazing place.

This used to be a unique beach with worn stones and pebbles. One was even able to find “Cape May Diamonds”, clear stones worn smooth over time by the water. We went there today and much of the beach is now covered in sand. What used to be periodic stop of ours, is now just another beach with less reason to visit :-( Strangely enough, just across the parking lot from the beach is a sign describing work being done by NJ to return an area (not the beach) to its original environmental state.

A wonderful experience! The night we went the sunset was beautiful. I love that the national anthem is played as well.

Very nice beach, absolutely beautiful! Concrete Ship is still there. But was disappointed to see the snack bar was replaced with a very expensive seaside restaurant with alcohol.😟

What a beautiful hidden gem in this big world!! Sunset Beach, NJ, is stunning in all ways. Between the beautiful views of God's creation, to the gift shop, the putput, and the new Fish House restaurant - it's simply amazing!! But, the best part is when they do the flag ceremonies!! My husband and I were blessed to witness one up close on August 17th, and it was beyond humbling & emotional. We really appreciate what they do for that! Sunset Beach is must certainly one of my favorite places in the world, and I can't wait to go back!

Come here every other year so beautiful. Been coming here since a newborn and still my happy place war wild 2 watch tower is very nice too. Miss the grill but time to try the new restaurant!

Good food, wonderful outside seating .

Gets crowded right around sunset. Parking is an adventure. Take what you can get. The view of the sunset is pretty great. Definitely worth the short trip if you're already in cape may. Sand is course. If you're planning on staying a long time Bring a blanket

Parking is free so it is very popular at sunset! Had to park at least 1/4 of a mile down the road and walk down. Great mini golf course! Cute stores.

Beautiful beach not too crowded. A store a few min walking. Mini golf is also available nearby great for families. I didn't s anyone smoking marijuana or drinking which is a huge bonus. I wish New Jersey never passed that bill as a disgrace. But all in all a great place to visit.

Great souvenir shop. Working on a new restaurant. Beach has cigarette buts all over. People left baby diapers on the beach. Garbage bags. Tried to look for sea glass and found a lot of garbage. Sad how people could leave this garbage on such a beautiful piece of land. I hope next year the monitor people and fine them for littering!

Awesome shops at Sunset Beach; great view too! Ample parking and mini golf is awesome. Add this stop to your Jersey Shore vacation itinerary!

Nice place, free parking n free beach access, good for relaxing or fishing but not for swimming.

I have been to Cape May a lot of time but it was my first time at Sunset Beach. I had to park on the side of the road so arrive early if you plan on going there. Very nice view.

Clean quiet beach with a view of ship wreck.

Great gift store with clean restrooms. All sorts of gifts from fragrances to Christmas ornaments. You can buy snacks and wine as well as the famous Cape May Diamonds.

Laid back quiet beach free parking and a nice souvenir shop!

Beautiful beach, perfect for rockhounding! There is free parking, two gift shops which are open until 10pm in the summer and porta potties. I just learned that there are bathrooms inside the gift shop, which is great! It appears that maybe a restaurant is being built this summer next to the gift shops for additional amenities. People go here to get away from crowds during the day and to watch the sunset over the ocean at night (crowded then). The parking lot is free and very close to the beach - parking lot is next to gift shop, and gift shop is directly next to the beach access. Beautiful spot and we will be back!

Beautiful beach, but it's full of rocks and seashells. It's a bad place to fish, but I did catch some special things. I was able to catch a crab and a very small shark, but not a single fish. It was hard to find parking.. It's a great beach, but it could be better, such as removing the pointy sticks that are sometimes sticking up, and can poke your feet if you aren't wearing shoes. Edit: I removed the paid parking part since I found out that it's free 👍

08•01•24 Five years to a decade ago, this area, “Sunset Beach” was a hidden gem. It’s one of the few places to see the sun actually set in the west over the water. Nowadays it feels like a miniature landmark in Wildwood, NJ. This use to be known for a great source of finding, “Cape May Diamonds” which you could easily spot a decade ago. The beach back then was mostly smooth, tiny pebbles and lots of Cape May Diamonds, but not much sand. Sadly enough, all the small tiny stones have been covered by sand. I’m not sure if this was Mother Natures doing or was done purposely by the town of Cape May. Either way, it was kinda disappointing to not only see the change of scenery / landscape, also the amount of tourists that were there. There is also some type of construction happening on the opposite side of the old WW II tower, which you pass just before entering Sunset Beach, built in 1942, which I also noticed. So who knows, maybe there’ll be Sunset Lounge Hotel being built at that elite location, either that or a Nursing Home. Hopefully I’m wrong & it’s additional Bird Watching location & they need a parking lot. This way all those species of birds live on & they don’t have to be forced out of their territory. However, I absolutely love the town of Cape May for all it’s character & charm. It's a designated Historic District & a National Historic Landmark due to its concentration of Victorian buildings. Cape May is also one of the country's oldest vacation resort destinations. I’ve been coming here for over 38 years & I’ll be back again real soon! If it wasn’t for the winter months, I would love to retire in the town of Cape May. That’s only if I was able to afford a house in the town of Cape May, LOL. Always a beautiful place to visit

The lady with the glasses that was working at the register was extremely snappy and rude towards my girlfriend. My girlfriend walked in the gift shop with her service dog who didn't have his vest on at the time only because she didn't want it wet for the beach. The lady yelled and immediately accused her saying it wasn't a service dog the second she walked in. Far from professional. My girlfriend could've showed the lady the paperwork on her phone if she took the time to ask, but clearly this lady lacks communication skills. Good thing we didn't buy anything from there.

Staff was very friendly and super helpful in picking out gifts for people, and ourselves lol They gave us lot of good local tips to us visitors. We originally stopped in because a previous review mentioned soft serve ice cream; however they no longer carry that item as of July 2024.

Went here on a Summer evening to view the sunset and it did not disappoint! The views were amazing. The beach was a bit crowded but it wasn’t unbearable, just expected.

Lots of people fishing which I found weird for being middle of the day when people are swimming, but free parking and free beach access. Overall a good time

Store is still a nice stop but the beach experience itself has been ruined by sand replenishment which has covered up all the stones and has ruined the Cape May Diamond experience.

There's two great little shops there and it's also an excellent place to view the sunset (as the name implies). :D

This is my favorite beach, it's so beautiful and clean, and has so many pebbles! The snack bar, free parking, gift shop and crystal store are awesome! Love this place.

Beautiful. Photos and videos don't do the sunset view justice. Water was calm. Free entry and parking. No boardwalk or food options on the beach. Have to go into town and eat at a restaurant or bring some snacks.

Such a beautiful, peaceful, relaxing and great spot to come and watch the sunset. I love that they have mini golf there if you want something to do to pass the time, plus 2 gift shops that sell a good amount of stuff. Not the best place for going in the water and swimming as the sand sinks more than other beaches I've been on. It's more for sitting and relaxing.

Beware of jelly fish and horseshoe crabs.

Been coming here for decades. My parents came here on their honeymoon in 59. Still best place to watch the sunset.

Have you ever heard of a Cape May Diamond..this is the spot. Looks like the food place is currently being rebuilt but the Knick knack shop is very gool so much to see. Also there is a clothing & gem shop there as well. Out in the De Bay you'll see the cement ship from back in WWII. Oh almost forgot about the miniature golf and the WWII look out turret you can explore.

Love sunset beach! Sometimes, it gets too crowded, and people just randomly block your view. They see you sitting there in your chair, and they just get right in front of you lol

Best place in Cape May area for sunsets over the water

Sunset Beach sunsets in Cape May have been the highlight of my summers for 30 years!! We live in Cherry Hill and drive to Cape May to go to the Lobster House and sunset beach every couple weeks, year round.

As a loyal customer of the gift shop, I’m truly disheartened by my most recent experience. On June 15th, 2024, I visited the gift shop, per usual, with my partner and my service dog. Out of nowhere, this extremely rude female worker with white hair approached me and told me that the dog is not allowed in the store and that she needs to leave. Baffled, I respectfully indicated that it has never been an issue. The employee rudely responds with “I just work here” and walked away. As my partner and I exit the store, per her request, we see that the door has a sign that states that service animals are welcome. Furious, I call the store and ask to speak with the manager. The manager, Brielle, takes my call and while she was apologetic, she was dismissive of my experience and clearly just wanted to get me off of the phone. She did indicate that what this woman did was wrong and that she would address it. While I appreciated the gesture, it didn’t sound genuine at all. Still unhappy, I sent an email under their website’s “Contact Us” section and requested to be in contact with someone above Brielle. No one has yet to reach out. In addition, I hate to feel like this, but I believe the store is truly prejudice, specifically, the female employee with white hair…and as I stated, it has never been an issue to have my service dog in the store; the sign on the door AND Brielle both confirmed this. I just wanted my feedback and frustration to be heard and validated, because it was just an awful experience. If this business actually responds, it’s just a front - because they were dead silent when I reached out privately to resolve. I’ll never shop here again, and neither will my close circle.

While there is some construction going on, the place is still a good diversion. Interesting world war II lookout. Also. The concrete boat remains! Worth the trip. If gift shops are your thing, make the trip!
