Sura is as authentic as you can get! Don't be fooled by the fact that there aren't any Korean characters on their menu. My parents and I tried the black bean noodles (jjajangmyeon), spicy rice cakes (ddukbokgi), soft tofu soup (soondubu), and spicy beef stew (yukgaejang). Everything was superb. We were gushing and saying how we felt like we were in Seoul again :'). Only feedback is that the spicy rice cake appetizer should definitely have more than ten rice cakes. It's an expensive dish so we were surprised that we had to search for the rice cakes. This is the only non-traditional aspect, so we really can't complain. If you want an authentic Korean meal, come to Sura!!

Terrible treatment from Asia, my family just because I brought some drinks from somewhere else got angry. The waitress never came back. I was a customer. The waitress is one who has a tattoo on her arm and gives terrible service.

July 13 - 2024: To the owners: there is a 2x4 wood on the awning frame that’s ready to fall off - very dangerous and may fall and injure customers : please ask owners of the building to fix Ordered beef bulgogi for takeout for 27 dollars; very disappointed in serving size , definitely not worth 27 dollars, the small serving size equivalent to when you order a combo meal; been a long time customer of Sura, maybe a new short order cook or due to Covid??? , please look into this matter Sura management; typical price for a bulgogi main dish is 18 -19 dolllars... Also, only got one ban Chan plate, we ordered 4 full main dishes, two ban Chan plate please....

Very good Korean food, but the prices are quite high

Service was friendly and also prompt. Waitress was super attentive. Little on the pricey side but if u pick the right sear you can see the boats and water. Super authentic. Would highly recommend for authentic Korean food.

If you’re looking for tasty traditional Korean food in the VC area than look no further! Sura never disappoints when it comes to authentic Korean dishes that tastes like home cooked meals. My regular go to dishes are the bibimbap, bulgogi, and chicken plate. You cannot go wrong with the tofu soup as well. I believe what sets this place apart is the quality of the side dishes that they specialize in since they are the perfect addition to balance out the rich foods and the welcoming atmosphere ran by local owners who are always so sweet when I stop by. It is also located in a beautiful shopping center overlooking water and has plenty of parking spaces.

This is the best korean restaurant around Oxnard &. Ventura I just love everytime I came here.The food that I order most of the time is BBQ rib and Mandu soup combo. The rib is so juicy and had a sweet taste sauce that can get along so well with the rice and The best part is the Mandu Soup. OMG!!! Imagine you had a party and so hangover the next morning having this Umami wonton soup will be the best time in you're life.

The tofu came out too salty. We asked to have it remade. They used the same tofu and just watered it down to no flavor. I thought it would be remade. I knew because the egg I put in was in the remade dish.

Me and my partner went to this restaurant we traveled from Santa Barbara so it was about a half hour drive and to start things off I guess maybe this is a thing at other restaurants but I’ve never been to a Korean barbecue restaurant where you don’t get to cook yourself with a grill at the table I wanted to leave immediately but my partner did not so I did not say anything and we stayed already on this point I would not come back because I’m coming for the experience of cooking myself and enjoying Korean food which is not an option. We started with the calamari It was very thick, cut almost seemed a little dry, and I kind of like that. It was less chewy than normal probably overcooked however, I’m not a big calamari fan. I only had a few pieces while my partner had the rest. I wanted to order the bigger plate Bulgogi And I wanted to add a soup that comes with the dinner combo. However, they said I cannot order the soup. It only comes with the dinner combo. How ridiculous is that? I can’t order a soup at an increase price because it’s not on the dinner combo. Anyhow, the amount of food that came in the combo was barely enough for two which is what me and my partner shared because by this time she didn’t even want to order Her own meal since they did not have any sweet-and-sour, hot and sour soup I forget what kind she wanted, but they did not have it. It was OK. I really enjoyed the texture and stickiness of the black bean rice however, no flavor at all the Bulgogi was tasty, but compared to other places lacking in flavor the soup that came with our meal Which is what I was most excited for also seemed subpar at best. There was kimchi on the side that was all Fishcakes I believe they were OK radish and potatoes and cube like shapes that were sweet I like them, but never had something like that before. It was interesting. The atmosphere was all right but the service was not minimal at best, and I did not like the way the server stood in the hallway behind us the whole time it was very awkward. My partner believes that she got sick from the calamari, which again she had most to herself I only had three pieces And later on for the next couple days, she was complaining about stomach problems that she believes was from the calamari. My biggest problem with this place Again is the fact that we don’t get to grill our own food I’ve never been to another Korean barbecue restaurant that did not have the grills at the table. I do not know if this is common but I do not like it one little bit. The next biggest issue is the fact that the food is not flavorfule enough and possibly not of high enough quality For them to be asking for this ridiculous prices a meal for one person comes out to the price of two meals almost anywhere else Besides steakhouses and Gordon Ramsay‘s restaurant hahaha.

the food was okay. my main issue is the portion sizes and the prices. if i spend almost $40 for a meal i am expecting to get portions proportionate to that price, or for it to taste really really good. but the portions were pretty sad and i got home and was hungry enough to make myself more food and that is just ridiculous for how expensive my meal was. i'm unfortunately not coming back due to that.

The food here is as good as any Korean restaurant in LA's Koreatown or other Korean communities around SoCal. Plus, the staff is so friendly and attentive. Highlights include the generous servings of banchan (freshly made kimchi is marvelous!), hot tofu soup, bibimbap, and kimchi pancake (appetizer). Recently started serving Cass Beer, imported from Korea (I like darker beers better in general but Cass really helps with the spiciness of thee Korean delicacies)

The bibimpap is outstanding! Spicy pork! Did it again just today and it was just as delicious!

This place needs some food stamps.. no flavor. One $3 taco has twice more meat than this $25 plate. BYOS Bring your own seasoning. Y’all need Jesus! Remember lying is a sin.

Poor costumer service, they kicked us out like 10 minutes after getting the foods- I’m like if you closing why did you let us in, is 7pm late-, we literally left our food and drinks untouched, she gave me food and bills together, overpriced place the menu has different prices they charge double the amount.

Service is terrible. We went to lunch around 3 pm Friday last week. We have order three main courses so we expect to get side dishes for all three main courses one serving each But the server only brought 1 serving of each in very little quantities and asked us to share them, which is fine. However when we asked for kimchi refills she said they charge extra. I don’t mind paying extra when we asked for extra but she didn’t give us enough in the first place and she wants to charge extra. She should have given us three servings that we purchased and could have told us that she had to charge extra for refills. Either way she was very rude and annoying irrespective. We noticed she came by to another table who is Asian and asked them how is the food and is everything good? but she didn’t bother asking us although I didn’t care …. It is prove the point she is rude. Food was awesome and thanks to chef but needless to say service ruined the experience for nearly $100 food we ate for 3 people……. This is 2nd time coming here .... first time experience was great..... but not the 2nd time

Way overpriced!! Food was just okay quality, at least twice as much overpriced It's a shame they are representing only korean in this area. Need good fair priced good quality Korean restaurant near there. Please think about it someone interested in I will support you!!!

serving were so small. I ordered the dinner combo coz they usually give me a bigger portion whenever I order that. When I picked it up the serving were so small. I ordered a bulgogi and galbi dinner combo and for $33 each its better to just eat at AYCE kbbq.

I got here 30 minutes before their hours showed closing and they were so gracious and let me come in and order! The service was exceptionally fast, the flavors were authentic and delicious, I was in and out in less than 30 minutes! Highly recommend.

This used to be one of my go-to places when I lived in CA. Love the spicy pork, which wasn't as good as it was 6 months ago when I was there. I was in town on business, friends and I went for dinner and the waitress was rude. We arrived, and the waitress said we close in 30 minutes, so you only get to order once. Ok, no problem. We ordered quickly and called her back to ask for a straw and silverware, and she just made grumpy noises and got snappy. My friend asked for water, and the waitress made a face and rolled her eyes at us. Next time I'm in town, I'll take my friends elsewhere.

I like the food, no doubt. And also, I have no problem giving a tip specially if the food is really good and service is outstanding. but if you will add 18% tip in the receipt without telling about it, plus some staff has an attitude, that’s a big No GO for me. Besides I always leave cash on the table for tips if service is 👍. 0 if 👎🏿🤭.

Fabulous Korean bbq! Family owned, and great lunch specials

Ok - let me talk about this place. First off, we live an hour from Koreatown but we learned about Sura from a friend. We were nervous about trying a place 30 min from our home but thought to give it a shot. Service: 10/10. Judy took our order, was prompt, attentive and ensured our food came out FAST. She’s warm and incredible with customers. Food: The kimchi pancake was crispy and packed with flavor. I can tell they used ripe kimchi which made everything 10x better. The Galbi (beef short rib) was juicy, tender, and the marinade tasted like galbi you'd get in koreatown (just without the stress of driving in traffic) Ok - the TOFU SOUP. We loved the broth. It had a deep and toasty flavor to it. We crave Korean food often and I'd say this is the best in Ventura county!

The food is very good. The dolsot bibimbap is excellent. I had it with tofu. We had the black noodles last time. Also excellent. Try the kimchi pancake as an appetizer. So good. The owner is very nice and the service is attentive and friendly. Soju and sake, make your meal complete!

I used to like Sura but I have celiac and they stop offering any of their seafood, meat, or chicken gluten free so I can no longer go there. Which means when the groups I go out with decide where to go, we don't go there anymore.

This is a Korean restaurant for non-Korean people. Not for Koreans. It’s not “authentic” as some of you mentioned. Almost 20 bucks for 짜장면? It wasn’t even that good. I could get a tastier $10 bowl at the food court at the Galleria. Looking at the rest of their menu; everything is overpriced. $33 for 불고기? Do you have a Michelin star that no one knows about? How shameless to charge crazy prices for mediocre food. I guess you have to charge ridiculous prices when you have a waterfront spot. 사기꾼!

Ein hübsches kleines Restaurant mit sehr freundlichem und hilfbereitem Personal. Ich war mit meinem Dad und seiner Frau dort. Habe mich sehr wohl gefühlt. Und das war das Beste koreanische Essen, das ich je hatte. Da habe ich auch mal gerne etwas mehr ausgegeben. Wenn ich wieder in Ventura bin, werde ich bestimmt wieder dort hingehen.

Best new food experience I've had in quite some time. I had the soft tofu clay pot soup with mushrooms. It was brought to the table boiling and I was given a fresh egg to crack into it. The egg cooked to perfection. I ordered it medium spicy, flavors were full and spot on! I ❤️ this soup. Thank you Sura staff for being so helpful and accommodating (gluten-free)

Quite and out of the way. Service is always above average. We always get one of the soups and a combo. It just enough for two.

The place is small (great bathroom) food is good, but not enough Galbi pieces - lunch should be a least 7 pieces and a larger rice container. They did not have mandu soup only soondoboo which was good. Lunch is very pricey @ $20+ already. Might as well go to GEN and get your $$$ worth for $26.99 and "ALL YOU CAN EAT" and they have soondoboo at least as a soup and bottomless GALBI.

Amazing Korean food. No matter what I eat, it is always good! Great mom and pop restaurant. The owners are so sweet. Remember if you get anything that comes in a stone bowl, get ready for the bowl to be volcano temp 😊

One of the best tofu soups I've had. Comes with 5 sides, which were not refillable for free (which is a huge bummer). Also got the spicy rice cakes which were ok. Could easily spend $50 for 2 people here. There is limited indoor seating.

Outstanding experience. Excellent and tasty. Wife and i were discussing how much we were craving some BiBimBob, and how there wasnt anywhere in the ventura area. But we thought try a googlw search and found Sura. So we grabbed the kids and drove out and we were so happy we did. From the homemade kimchi to the purple rice everything was perfect. The kids meals were a well thought out meal that both kids devoured. As a bonus we had a great walk along the waterfront after dinner. I recommend this restaurant to anyone that likes authentic asian foods run by truly nice people that obviously care.

Sura is incredibly tasty and flavorful Korean cuisine. The vegetable Sun Du bu was delicious and each of the side dishes had a burst of unique flavor — spicy, sweet, savory. The colorful dishes were a feast for the eyes.

This place brought memories of my trips to South Korea. The way they make their spicy pork had me reminiscing about the wonderful times we had with the mother-like Korean lady that would treat us like her own children. Best Korean Restaurant in Oxnard!

Good food, friendly staff, expensive

A bit of a small set up, two or three tables favoring their waterfront. This place is incredible, I have never been disappointed. I love the bent box specials and equally a, grateful that I can order a little more of the bento pieces I enjoy the most. Wait staff is a hit or miss. Make sure you double check hours before coming in, they don’t open unti 11:30 or 12. Beef Bulgogie is my favorite on the menu!

This place has good Korean food. The side dishes are really good as well. Good service with friendly staff . Plenty of seating . It's inexpensive. I would definitely go here again especially for a casual meal. It's a good place to go on a small couple romantic meal for a No-Frills dinner. Also good for larger groups. Portions are good. Healthy wholesome food.

Love this place. Usually get the Bulgogi lunch special w/soft tofu soup. A little bit pricey for lunch, but so worth it. Soft tofu soup is fantastic and can be modified to your tastes with all the different add-ins available (extra), I mainly go for the soup which is available by itself as well. The waitstaff are friendly and prompt. I always have a great experience here.

Located in a shopping center, parking was a challenge. Came in for a late lunch on a weekday and seating was easy. You order from a menu. I ordered from the lunch specials. I chose Mandu Soup and BBQ ribs. The servings were generous and the food was excellent. Service was great. My complaint was that if a dish is listed as a lunch special, it should be under the $10 level. I'm glad we went and would go again.
