Sushi was warm and rice was not/under seasoned, fell apart before I could pick it up. Good portions for price.

I love the complimentary miso and salad. Service was friendly and attentive. I wasn't a fan of the nigiri (I'm super picky), but I really liked the taste and quality of the teriaki. The pacing of the dishes was off - apps came out after the mains - but they also came out hot and fresh. The favorite dish was the fried calamari - the most tender squid I've ever had. I would recommend the cooked dishes over the fish.

One of the best poke bowls I’ve ever had and my wife’s stir fry was so fresh and delicious.

This is the BEST kind of Japanese restaurant.. family owned, good quality food, a very nice variety of Japanese foods and not priced to break your budget. I want to keep going here to try everything on the menu! I got the Poke Bowl (salmon) and 2 pieces of unagi. My dining companion got a whole lot of things but most prominent was Dragon Roll and a creamy scallop which she enjoyed. Our server was extremely nice and food came up quickly despite it being lunch time. I want to try a lunch bento box or udon on my next visit.

Solid experience every time with the sushi, poke and the best lunch deal in the area. I gave 3 for the atmosphere because they could use a little refresh after all these years

One of our favorite restaurants, we go out-of-our-way to eat here. Lovely staff, fantastic food, very reasonable prices, and a sweet environment.

I always go here 2 to 3 times a week when I was working in Oregon in mid 2022. They're very welcoming, and the owners seem to know every customer. Affordable, good food, good portion, and plenty of parking. I always eat here while doing my laundry. If I ever visit Oregon in the future, I'd definitely visit this restaurant.

Sushi Kata is our favorite local restaurant. They are busy with both take out orders and in store, so it may take a little longer to get your food, so go early.

Decided to try this place since it's kind of close to my work, and all the other sushi places around have been kind of disappointing (either too expensive or lacking quality). I got a California roll and an order of gyoza - calling it in was more cost effective than using Grub Hub/Door Dash etc. Service was super fast, prices AWESOME, and food was delicious! So much so, I ordered it two days in a row. Very impressed with this place, and I will without a doubt be back again.

It was all very good, just extremely crab heavy. If allergic to, or can't eat shellfish for whatever reason, the selections are very, very minimal. But the service was great and everything we could eat was fresh and well made

Got in at roughly 530 and were the only ones. Surprised by included "salad" and miso. Ordered 5 rolls. Got 2 within 15 min and the other 3 about 20 min later. But by that time the place was packed. All the food was great and the wait was reasonable given how busy it got. With 5 rolls we spent $40.

Just moved here in Milwaukie and tried this place . i loved the taste, the place, AND THE VERY AFFORDABLE PRICE. Been coming here since then.

EDIT: Well, Joseph and Kim retired, which I am so happy to hear! The downside is that we drove from Beaverton to go back to Sushi Kata, which we frequented when we lived in Milwaukie and we had a pretty bad experience. So here it is… we got there and had to wait 30 minutes before someone was able to take our order, not a huge deal, they were busy. We ordered 4 sushi rolls. Once we ordered, they let us know that it would take a while to get the food, again they were busy so we understood, so we waited. We waited for another 30 minutes, keep in mind we had now been there for an entire hour at this point and hadn’t been given drinks or food. Finally the server walks up to our table and she tells us that they “RAN OUT OF SUSHI RICE AND WOULDN’T BE ABLE TO MAKE ANY OF OUR FOOD” after we sat there for an HOUR. So we just had to leave super hungry and pick up fast food on our way home. ORIGINAL REVIEW: Love this spot. It’s great quality and crazy good prices. The owner and his wife are awesome folks and very welcoming.

Very good sushi. Made very large, so don't over order. Always comes with soup and salad. No need to do this especially when using Styrofoam.

This place was so fresh and delicious! Their vegas roll is something special, it has unagi in it. The staff were all really nice and friendly, treated me like i was a regular even tho id never been before. Not bad with pricing either. Delicious and hearty!

What a super find! Fresh and simple, plentiful portions, large menu variety, and good service. This small mom-n-pop place was just right for everyone in my group, and the place filled up fast just as soon as it opened. I recommend the bento box lunch,, comes with lots of different dishes, variety of choices, and side salad and soup included. Prices are great too.

Reasonably priced and great portion sizes. We tried a bunch of different appetizers, sushi, bento boxes and rice bowls- all delicious. Janice is a wonderful server and the whole staff kept their cool while rushing around doing table service and a million to-go orders.

The food is so gooooood and the owners are sweet and personable.

Got the chicken bento. The fried chicken bits were cold and gushed out in oil when I bit into them. There was barely any meat in each piece and was mostly batter. The tempura that came with it was also cold and oily. It looks like they're using a different, more inferior batter. At that point, I didn't want to touch the raw fish that came with it and just threw it out. I will probably never go back again. This was my 3rd time there in a span of 4 months and the quality in food has changed so much.

Have driven by this place for years and always wondered how it was. It was delicious, and the service was great. There were seven of us and everyone was happy. We ordered many different things and enjoyed all of them. The saki and plum wine were delightful too. Highly recommend.

Came in with a reservation because I wasn’t sure if there would be a wait time- I was greeted immediately when I walked in, & by name! Had a table waiting for me, and received immediate service from Kim’s smiling face! I ordered some of my favorite “go to” rolls, and all of them were amazing. You can tell this quickly becomes peoples “go to” restaurant. Customers coming in and out to eat, pick up orders, most greeted by name. Love this restaurant and the workers! I’ll definitely be coming back! 💕

Sushi and Nigiri are massive! Everything is delicious and fresh. The staff are very polite and kind. Only downside was the place was a bit disorganized, but overall still very clean.

This place has AMAZING food. It's by far my favorite little hole in the wall. Everyone who works there is so sweet too. It really does feel like a family owned and run business. I love being able to support this business eat their amazing and affordable food.

We have been going there for well over a decade. These folks were amazing through the pandemic, keeping their doors open with an impressive togo game! Their food is consistently well prepared and a great value. While you will not find ambiance (old strip mall, fast moving restaurant) you will have the pleasure of interacting with friendly and funny owners who learn your name and look for/ask about your family members. The sushi is always fresh and they have a huge variety of hot rice and noodle dishes. This is our favorite casual sushi/teiyaki/stir fry place for eat in or togo.

I kinda messed up and went to the location before ordering. They prefer a takeout order over the phone but either my phone or their phone wasn't working because I couldn't get through. Anyways, this is as good as it gets concerning teriyaki in Portland. Their sauce is great. Their chicken is great. I would have liked more white rice, two scoops instead of one. The staff is very nice and it's a great place to go for a family meal.

Oh my God this place is amazing! I ordered a gyoza plate and the sunomono salad with the octopus and it was stellar. For 10.50 I got the sunomono which was super yummy with a great sauce and the gyoza plate! It also came with complementary miso soup and a salad. It was a perfect lunch especially for someone on a budget. The staff were really nice and I will definitely come back!

Affordable, delicious Japanese food from a real Japanese family. I had the snow pea and chicken stir fry. Some of the best stir fry I’ve had in a restaurant. Highly recommended.

The sushi is inedible. Is this even real fish? If so it's definitely not fresh. It's not hyperbole, this is the worst sushi I've had in my life. Maybe the Thai dishes here are better but I won't be back to try them.

The best restaurants are always no-frills in strip malls, aren't they? Don't let the location fool you. These folks make exceptional (and surprisingly affordable) sushi and teriyaki. You could go pay 2x for Bamboo Sushi downtown, or drive 15 min south into Milwaukie and get sushi that's just as good for a great price. Highly, highly, highly recommended!

We came for lunch, each got a bento box. I never understood the hype for tempura until I ate it here. It was absolutely fantastic, the crisp tunes of the tempura over the softest juiciest shrimp, was superb. The sushi was melt in your mouth, the maguro (tuna) was especially amazing considering the fact that I think it might be Akami cut. Either way, it was really good. It was an extremely filling meal for both my partner and I. The best part was the entire check price was under $20. It’s been a long time since I’ve felt like food was sold to me at great price for great quality without going somewhere where you feel like you have to dress up. It’s a really cozy little hole in the wall restaurant, and the same family has been operating it for as long as I can remember, at least a decade. This is a place I have always come back to over time, but after this last meal we’re thinking of making this a regular lunch spot. I cannot rate this place high enough. 6/5 stars.

Have been going here off and on since it opened. Quality of my food keeps getting worse. My Katsu was dry as he'll. Salad dressing and soup has also gone down hill. Your supposed to get better with your food quality. And the restaurant looks exactly the same. Put some pride into your food and establishment. I'm pretty sure I will not go back unless someone else is paying.

Tasty foods, generous portion, friendly service. Our sushi order were fresh and the protein portion were big. Complementary miso soup for each guest not just per meal. Place look Unassuming from outside but clean and well keep inside. It very cozy inside and the way we were treated it feels like we are visiting a family for a meal. Very good balance of taste, portion and prices. Our only regret is the place is not that close to where we live.

I waited patiently for three other people, that came in after me to pay/get there food. I was helped after there wasn’t anyone else waiting. Then the waitress went to go help five more people before she finally came back 16 minutes later. Then she hands me a box of food that had been sitting on the table behind her before I even walked in. I can’t believe this happened here. I came here all the time. I would go back but they wouldn’t remake or refund my order. If it wouldn’t have been all raw fish I wouldn’t have really cared. I was in the store for almost an hour before my food was finally handed to me. On top of it all, they asked me to leave when I nicely pointed out what happened
