My daughter is vegan. So it was getting hard to keep up with what she would and could eat. My sister showed us this Place.....man we're going almost every Tuesday and Thursday on our days off. Love this Place 🥰🥰

I was so upset when I went in on Wednesday. The light skined lady with the gray hair was awful. The one lil sample (drip) of okra juice she gave me to taste wasn't good to my taste buds & she refused to let me sample anything else. I asked to taste the rice.. told me No! I drove from the westbank in traffic to go support & buy my daughter who is vegan lunch & myself whom is not vegan she was like😒 that's not her problem." I go maybe every other month there.. just to support blk Own. I give to the homeless that hangs in front of the business begging & even blessed/ bought food for them. I just felt upset coming from westbank at 3 pm (closing soon) with traffic & all. Guess It was going to hurt her & the business to give me 5 pcs of RICE just to taste. (Had a whole pan of the rice left) I fussed all the way bk criss the river & went picked me up some peas & rice , cabbage & Oxtails! 🤦🏽‍♀️

The atmosphere is like simple old time comfort. No frills, just Friendly and welcoming and delicious. I love this place.

Tried their fried cauliflower both in the bbq and orange sauce and it’s divine! Their eggplant lasagna tastes incredibly similar to meaty lasagna and its rich in flavor. Actually, everything that I have tried so far has been rich in flavor. Big fan of their green juice. Would recommend trying out if you want vegan food for the day!

I had the eggplant parmesan, and it was excellent. Prices are good, and the space is clean and peaceful.

I visited Sweet Soulfood last week along with my friend. We are from Gulfport and were visiting New Orleans. My friend is vegan and hence she chose the place. Ample parking space available at this restaurant. We went around 11 AM and it was decently busy. The restaurant had 20 - 25 people sitting facilities available. The food was given in a To Go Boxes irrespective of dining in or takeout, which makes sense as it saves time when you want to takeout. It was my first time trying this cuisine. My friend already tried before. I liked Gumbo and Mac and Cheese (Cashew) out of everything. I would definitely go back and give it a go. The staff serving the food were really helpful in sorting out the meal for me. Overall I had a great time here. I hope to try out other dishes next time.

I’ve been here about five times and it never ever disappoints. You can’t go wrong with anything you order. Bread pudding was AMAZING!! And definitely get a juice!!!

This place needs to become a chain. INCREDIBLE food!! I'm not even a vegan and this was the best meal I had visiting NOLA for a work event. We need one in Chicago please!!

Solid vegan food with lots of variety. I found the Mac and cheese bland and somewhat sweet. The texture was great.

A very simple restaurant that serves delicious vegan local cuisine. They offer a ton of local favorites. You grab a tray and choose what you want. You can choose from one to four items and they'll put it all inside a to-go box regardless if you're eating in or out. It was our first time there and it took us a while to decide what we wanted but everyone was very patient with us and helped us throughout the whole ordering process. I personally had their Jambalaya, Okra Gumbo, Collard Greens, and Bread Pudding. Everything tasted amazing and I especially loved the gumbo. Others in my party got different dishes and even the omnivores really enjoyed their meals. Definitely visit this restaurant if you're in the area and looking for a vegan place to try the local cuisine!

The food was incredible at Sweet Soulfood. I am not vegan, but I do not mind vegan options being lactose intolerant. 1000/10 I will be visiting this place every time I am in New Orleans. Cauliflower, collard greens and bread pudding was on point!

If you want some good Nola soul food, this is the place to go. The service was great. You are greeted as soon as you walk into the door. The only issue that I had was the temperature of some of my order. The rice was not warm enough for me. Others may like that temperature, but I think food should be a bit more warm.

I am a plant based travel nurse and it can be difficult to find healthy vegan restaurants. This place was SO GOOD! Delicious! I tried a bit of everything and only spent 37 dollars! I got sweet heat Cauliflower, fried Cauliflower with sweet and sour sauce, Philly pasta, cashew Mac, sweet potatoes, collard greens, cookies and cream ice cream and a soursop ginger pineapple mango juice. AMAZING! They have a different menu each day. I plan to visit many more times while I'm here. And the customer service was FANTASTIC!

This place is beyond vegan and just damn good. I've actually been trying to come here for awhile but keep getting thwarted by their early hours and my laziness. Finally made the effort and I was rewarded as such. The menu on a Monday includes the sweet heat fried cauliflower, Mac n cheez and okra gumbo on my pick three Togo plate. Everything was really good but the cauliflower was on another level. While not really spicy this puts most take out orange chicken to shame. It's seriously that good. The Mac is really good too and if you're a fan of okra then the gumbo while tomato heavy is well worth it. I'll do better in the future and come more often now that I know.

If i could give this place 1,000 stars, I would. The food was INCREDIBLE and the service was amazing. There is so much variety for plant-based people and it’s all delicious!

I visited this place on 6/19/2024 at the recommendation of a trusted source. When I tell y'all this place is STRAIGHT fire. So much so that when I went inside to place my order, the macaroni with cheese and cashews was given to the guest ahead of me and there was but a corner left. No worries because I ordered the barbeque cauliflower, the dirty rice, and the collard greens with cabbage! I don't know what they put in the sauce and how they prepare that cauliflower, but it was a very welcomed surprise! The rice and greens and cabbage were OK, but that cauliflower was the STANDOUT dish! My beverage was the Soursop and Ginger juice. It was delicious! Also, the place was clean, atmosphere relaxed, and staff was very friendly. I can't wait to come back during my next visit to the crescent city.

As a non-vegan, I was super impressed! The sweet and spicy cauliflower, Philly pasta, and mac/cheese was awesome. Also the ginger and soursop drink were top knotch! The service was quick, the vibes casual, and it was very affordable too!

Plant based eaters, search no more! This is the one stop for, you guessed it, sweet delicious soulfood. I have not had a single thing I didn't enjoy. Used to look forward to coming a twice a year when I was here for work, so glad to be able to have it any time now as a local.

The food was amazing! Best jambalaya I’ve had and I used to live in NOLA. Cafeteria style so you get your food quickly. It was busy so you know it’s good.

Wasn't planning to leave a review so I didn't take any pictures, but Sweet Soulfoud is SO good! My boyfriend and I got two pick-3 plates, with sweet heat cauliflower, mac and cheese, greens, jumbalaya, okra gumbo, and cornbread dressing. The Mac and cheese was just fine (not bad but not remarkable), but everything else was delicious. And the service was awesome, super friendly and efficient. Would definitely be return customers if we lived in New Orleans!

One of the BEST Vegan restaurants around. We drove over two hours to try it out! Would drive the two hours again! AMAZING flavor and OUTSTANDING dishes. Staff was the BEST! Highly recommend this place for Vegans, wish we had a place like this in Arizona and every state that we travel through.

I highly recommend this restaurant. Food and service were absolutely outstanding. We were visiting relatives and they recommended Sweet Soulfood but I am vegan. The dining experience was so great that I will not hesitate recommending Sweet Soulfood to everyone.

Second time coming through town this month, second time stopping here to eat. Food is amazing but the lady at the checkout needs to improve her attitude & vibe, even if she's just following orders, there's a professional way to deliver a message. Once that message is delivered and the customer is still voicing how something this small will make them lose me as a customer, someone else should have stepped in. Since I travel for a living, I always get extra food for the road, being vegan makes it difficult in certain areas of the country! I ordered a 4 choice meal plus a large side of bread pudding. After eating some of my meal and packing up the leftovers, I realized I needed another fork for the bread pudding and next meal. I was told they only give one package to each customer. So, I got the large side for my son, am I supposed to save my fork for him so he can eat later on? I understand that running a business is costly but after spending $50 both times I visited, 1 additional fork (which actually should have come with my side order) shouldn't be a big deal! Next time I'll take my friends somewhere else for sure.

I drove an hour from MS to this restaurant, based on the reviews…and I was IMPRESSED! 👏🏽 BEST vegan soul food I’ve had thus far & I have had it all over the States. The staff were super sweet & helpful (which can be a hit or miss in N.O.). The restaurant is very clean & welcoming. I had a 4 item plate: gumbo, mac n cheese, sweet potatoes & cauliflower chicken. I am extremely picky when it comes to getting vegan texture & flavor right…. and they were ON POINT! The mac n cheese was a perfect texture, not too much cheese, perfect flavor, not overbearing. The batter & sauce on that cauliflower chicken was incredible! I will certainly be traveling back any chance I’m near, they have a new fan.

Sweet Soul food is amazing! I got the bbq cauliflower, bread pudding, okra gumbo, and collard greens and cabbage and it was all good. Being able to get vegan soul food in NOLA was amazing and I will definitely be back on my next trip into town.

I purposely stayed in the area to get this on Monday as they were closed Sunday. Everything I wanted to try is on the weekends lol I wish I would have studied the menu better. Next time

This staff was pleasant. I was happy to see so many vegan/planted based items. The food was fine.

The looks of the food does no justice. You have to actually try their food. Living in a world with so much inflation and bad unhealthy food, I left here feeling like I received my monies worth. I ate half my plate and I had energy to do other activities afterwards. I walked the French Quarter and didn’t feel tired. I finished the rest of my plate for dinner and instead of feeling tired and sleepy, I decided to come here and write this post. Worth every second of my time. Eating vegetables are an exciting experience, especially when you can eat them and feel good.

It wasn't bad but it wasn't that good. Everything was sweet. I'm happy that it was vegan and I tried it.

This food is revolutionary. I'm not vegan and was blown away by how good every single dish we got was. I'd particularly recommend the cauliflower and collard greens. And whatever you get make sure to opt in for the cornbread on the side.

I've driven past this place so many times and finally decided to try it today. I was so pleased! The taste of the Philly pasta, collard greens, and cornbread was DELISH, but the sweet and spicy cauliflower? Listen... I was so happy to support a Black business where I could get delicious food quickly (during a 30 min lunch break). Can't wait to come back and try the desserts (bread pudding and ice cream!)

Gumbo was not good. It was sweet. Gumbo isn’t sweet. It was in red gravy. New Orleans gumbo is not in red gravy. I was hyped up to try it and extremely disappointed. Orange cauliflower didn’t have the orange taste. Shepherd pie was great. Yams on point!! I must have picked a day that the cook was off . So disappointed 😔

Recommend to anyone looking for vegan options. The fried cauliflower is my favorite here.

Incredible vegan soul food! Didn't think it was possible but the gumbo was spot on, according to my omnivorous partner. The buffalo cauliflower wings were fresh and seasoned perfectly. Collards on point with the pepper and vinegar. Prompt cafeteria-like service. Diner atmosphere and music was loud but overall very welcoming.

Delicious soul food! It's worth the trip, I had the collard greens, okra gumbo, jambalaya and BBQ cauliflower. It was tasty and fresh. They have those great juices, you should get the soursop and ginger. An amazing black owned business you HAVE TO VISIT.

100000/10. I dont ever write a review but they get all my stars. We have been traveling around and exploring vegan eats. This was an experience that was top tier. As someone that is just starting to explore the vegan world, I would choose this over any traditional options. I am sad that they are not in the Midwest. ☹️ The staff made us feel so comfortable with asking questions about what we should try. We ended up ordering two of the 4 dish options. We wanted to try as much as possible because everything looked sooo good. Staff and even costumers gave us their recommendations. They made it so easy to pick because clearly you can’t go wrong. People were not shy to tell us their favorites. But, by the time we left, we both agreed that nothing was negotiable. We wanted more of everything. Out of the 8 dishes we shared, we could not pick a favorite. However, iykyk… vegan cheese is not easy to replicate so the Mac and loaded potato’s are an easy craving that I miss. 🤤🤤

This is it - THE place to visit for filling vegetarian soul food in Louisiana. The menu rotates every day, and there's always more great stuff than you can eat. I should also mention that they catered during carnival season for us a few years back, and we would have been completely lost without them. They were able to deliver and serve hot food while some of us were late to our own party, caught in festival traffic. The food, of course, was a huge hit with vegetarian and non-veg people alike.

I'm not even vegan and I loved it

I've been twice now, both times ordering like six plates for coworkers. Everything has always been perfect. I can't believe how crispy the cauliflower always is. The workers are always nice and double check what I'm getting for each plate so there's never an error. The price for the amount of food is great. I like this place a lot :)

I was so excited to find southern comfort food but make it vegan while visiting. The menu and choices offered this day had a good variety, everything smelled great, tasted great, cute vibe. Staff could have been a little more helpful/friendly especially since it was my first time and my kids were distracting me a bit while trying to figure out how to order ah. I got a plate to share and even my kids enjoyed tastes or everything. I would come again if I'm back in the area!

My soul was fed well!! This was my first time dining here - when I tell you I immediately fell in love with this place, I absolutely did! I came over with a friend from Biloxi, and I WISH we had a place like this, closer to home. If you're local, please take advantage of having this option available for you, or you could be like me, coming from afar just to experience a nice and healthier meal. The staff are super friendly, and before you can get in the door good, they are greeting you. Because it was my first time, I had no clue what I wanted, but they patiently waited for me to make a decision and gave me a few samples to try. I'm allergic to eggs, so being able to have items such as cornbread, brownies, and bread pudding was a SUPER treat for me! I don't know what else to tell you other than try them out - you will NOT be disappointed!

Honestly, I was blown away by the level of integrity and service that all the employees have. Everyone was dedicated, and it showed in how they treated customers. Little things like making sure customers always got the newest and hottest food available from the kitchen, offering tastes of foods to ensure customers would like their choices, etc. went a long way. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to vegan food lovers.
