My boyfriend and I had so much fun eating the fondue here! It was our first time so the waitress taught us the technique of stirring the cheese each time we dip our food into it (prevent the hot cheese from separating, plus you get a good coating on your food). We shared the cheese fondue with bread and pears plus a seafood fondue which came with veggies. Quite full by the time we finished. We'll come back again to try the chocolate fondue The service helped make the experience so enjoyable.

We've been eating here for years, but apparently over the last couple years it changed ownership. Service was horrible, even with a reservation. Fondue was lack luster, skimpy portions, Chocolate Fondue was bland and prices were definitely to high for what you got. Restaurant was only 1/2 full and it took just a little over two hours . As I said, we've eaten here many a times in 20+ years, and this was more than disappointing. Unfortunately we will not be eating here again.

This is a great place to have the original Fondue experience with the family. The place is a bit old, but It's part of the experience. The staff is very nice and firendly. We enjoyed very much this dinner.

The waitress was very nice and friendly. We were greeted warmly and sat at a small table. My husband ordered French Onion soup to start. I was reluctant to order a starter salad due to the $14 price. The soup was mediocre at best. It turns out it was a vegetarian version of the soup. The next course was the cheese fondue. About $42 for cheese fondue, which comes with only bread, is vastly overpriced. They charge around $7 or more for any "add-ons" like vegetables or fruit to dip in the cheese. You run out of cheese long before you run out of bread or any add-ons like the hashbrown like potatoes we added. Another approximately $48 for the steak fondue with broth for about 6oz of meat for two people and a limited selection of vegetables was another outrageous price. The food was not bad, but certainly not worth the price they charged. My husband may have gotten full from the starter soup, but I was left wanting more. Their two person meal would have cost around $150, and i doubt it would have fed us sufficiently. The broth was barely simmering, which meant cooking the beef and vegetables took forever. If you are traveling and craving fondue, save yourself the cost and go to Melting Pot in Littleton or go the grocery store before heading into the mountains. You'll probably get a better deal. This is by far the most overpriced restaurant in Breckenridge.

We first went to the Swiss Haven 12 years ago and absolutely loved it. However, the quality of food has continously deteriorated over the years. Last time the fondue was mediocre, they served stale bread and veggies from "yesterday", the place felt dingy. Unfortunate such a great place went downhill.

The food and service were excellent. Family of 5. We ordered a cheese, beef and tofu fondue along with a few sides, most notably the spaetzle which was excellent. Finished it off with a dark chocolate fondue. A lot of the reviews noted how expensive it is but you're in a resort town and you're paying the upcharge for that. I'd also like to note that we weren't rushed out and everyone was very hospitable. Would go back again.

Totally overpriced. A beer in any other place would cost 7usd, there 10. Also it makes too much fuzz for a reservation where you may not find something extraordinary inside. Last but not least, the quality of the fondue is okeyish. You can buy a better fondue at a supermarket. If you can, avoid it. Go other places. Breckenridge has way better gastronomic offers.

It’s an ok place if you want to experience fondue, however it is very over priced for what it is. The bread was cheap and bland. The cheese felt like the pot was half full. The beef fondue was in broth rather than oil so it didn’t really cook the veg. The inside was ok and the service was fine.

I wanted to love this place. My husband and I have been eying it every time we are in from boulder. We finally got to go tonight but were disappointed enough that we won’t return. The staff was very friendly but the food was just not worth the money. We paid $76 not including tip for a small pot of cheese with bread plus three sides. We ordered pear as a side but it was hard and tasteless. Not ripe. $7 for that small plate of cubed pear. She did let us switch to apple. Very sweet waitress. But again, $7 for small plate of mediocre apple. The veggies were simple raw carrots, broccoli, and mushrooms. And the potato not flavorful. We ran out of cheese so we couldn’t finish the sides with the cheese so we packed up raw carrots to take home. I don’t know. We had an at home cheese fondue at christmas that we bought from the grocery store. Somehow way more yummy.

Two words: tourist trap. I took my girlfriend here for our final night out in Breckenridge. After having wonderful meals at other restaurants in town, we were excited for this traditional alpine experience. We left bitterly disappointed, even angry. We probably should have got up and left the moment we sat down and they handed us cheap one ply paper napkins that looked like they were purchased in bulk for a school cafeteria. Not cloth, not even a nice thick monogrammed paper. This is supposed to be upscale! We were appalled when we received a $183 bill (before tip) for this restaurant. $15 for a beer? $10 for a bottle of San Pellegrino? Are these owners drunk? If you’re going to charge $7 for a SINGLE cut up apple to go with cheese fondue, it better not be a supermarket red delicious, and the bread better not be wal mart quality. They charged $12 for “Swiss potatoes” that were nothing more than diner hash browns - and I’ve had better at IHOP. Everything about the food was average and the service was abysmal. The waiter could not stop interrupting us. He had such an awkward demeanor that we wondered if he was stoned. I was appalled when we ordered the cheese fondue and instead of being helpful about the sides we should get to accompany it, he told us that it wouldn’t be enough food (not true) and we needed to also get a ($50+) meat fondue. It was the most shameless upselling I’ve seen in a long time - totally unprofessional. The dessert- apple strudel with ice cream - came out ice cold. We sent it back, had to wait like 20 minutes for a hot replacement, and then they had the gall to still charge us for it. Are they nuts?! I simply cannot believe what a rip off this restaurant is. Spend your money elsewhere.

Had the cheese and mixed seafood and chocolate fondue. My 9 yoga’s able to have the shrimp and cheese to fill her up. Good size wine and beer list. Kids pasta looked large from the other tables but not other kids menu per se. Would send friends (not on a budget) here.

Insulting, frankly. Where to even begin… $30 for two beers ?? $10 for a bottle of Pellegrino?? I love potatoes and somehow they failed on this front. We ordered the fried Swiss potatoes to accompany the cheese fondue, which were entirely flavorless. You get better hashbrowns at Denny’s for half the price and double the portion. We also got a side of apples, which to my dismay were the variety they give American kids with their school lunches - aka garbage; flavorless and grainy. Service was terrible; we thought our waiter was drunk or high. His demeanor was odd to say the least, constantly interrupting our conversation and trying to upsell us on items we weren’t interested in. Later the waiter from the table next door stepped in, sensing that perhaps something was off. The French onion soup was not bad, but diluted too much. The pear and walnut salad was also fine. Forgot to mention the bread - the only thing that came with the fondue - was depressing and not even toasted. $42 for some melted cheese at a supposedly European restaurant, at least have some decent bread! We hoped to have the meal redeemed with a traditional dessert and got the apple strudel. Alas, no such luck as it was served to us cold. We sent it back and after 20 minutes more it was brought back heated properly. The final insult to injury was that they didn’t take it off the bill. A total tourist trap. Outrageous prices for the quality you get. Bill should have been half. Maybe once it was good and the owners took some pride in their establishment, but those days are long gone and now they are just exploiting the Swiss reputation and tourist location. We left very disappointed. This was our last meal in Breck and we hoped it would be the icing on an otherwise wonderful week. Try Radicato instead ! Great service and quality. We were blown away.

Was disappointed that the menu presented on arrival didn't match the menu they have posted on their website!! Online the menu offered six "traditional Swiss specialties" dishes that were great options for the few in our group of 8 that were lactose intolerant. However, on arrival we were presented with a different menu with only pricey fondue options. We were told that this was their "winter menu". We did the research before making reservations. Their online menu should match the menu in the restaurant. We stayed, because we'd have had an hour long wait to go elsewhere in December without a reservation. Those of us that had the fondue enjoyed it very much. The Classic cheese fondue was fantastic, although it only comes with bread. Sides of fruit or vegetables are additional. The beef tips were very delicious and tender on the beef fondue. Overall the food was very good and the staff was friendly and accommodating! Drinks were overpriced. Martini came half full. Reservations highly recommended!

This place is like an old singer past her prime. The steps leaving up to the restaurant are the first give away- very dingy and worn. . We had called for a reservation the day before saying it was our anniversary. They were very good about calling back to confirm. Upon arrival, we were pushed aside so they could seat a partial party if 6 who arrived after us. After schoomzing them, the seater/server came back to seat us - but had no recollection of our reservation, nor were we even told Happy Anniversary. The prices are steep but the food is good. If you've ever been to a Melting Pot restaurant, the menu is similar but about 40 percent more. Cheese fondue with basket of bread cubes- $42.95. Steak tips $50 accompanied by several sauces, mushrooms, carrots and broccoli. Lots of up charges- anything other than bread cubes, extra sauce tray with entree. They only offer one style of cooking with hot broth- no hot oil. Quality of the steak tips were excellent- the meat melted in your mouth. However, it's still boiled meat- just not my thing. Chocolate Fondue was very good - little bit more in the bowl would have been appreciated. The worst was the music playing- 1970's style. It did just not go with the theme of restaurant. I would have rather heard Swiss, Austrian or New Age music. It made it like an old hippie place- weird with cartoonish mountain wall murals. They could do some minor updates and make this place more appealing. Right now it seems very tired. For these prices they need to step it up! I think I just had dinner at Fawlty Towers!

I’ve taken my family here 3 times on our yearly Breckinridge trip that has become quite the tradition. Our first time we had amazing service and while the price didn’t really match the portions we enjoyed the ambiance and our server, Ivan, had the most humorous outgoing personality and the whole family loved him. Our second year the food was just as good, however our server (who I can’t recall the name of) was terrible to say the least. One of my party got sick because she wouldn’t re light the fires under the broth and therefore our food wasn’t cooking in it. Meaning we ate raw chicken, beef, and other foods. We were in the restaurant for easily over 3 hours because of our servers incompetence. This year, we gave Swiss heaven another shot, hoping for a repeat of our first year with Ivan. However, our experience was just as bad. We called in September to reserve a spot (Mind you our trip occurred in January). So we should have had a cemented position on the reservation list. However day of we got a call asking us if we wouldn’t mind coming 30 minutes later as they were a bit behind schedule. This was no issue, however we did arrive a tiny bit early (5 minutes) to see if maybe we could get seated early. When we checked in with the host who rudely said “we cannot seat you because you are 5 minutes early”. We understood and were happy to wait until it came about 10 minutes after our reservation time. At this point we asked the host about our reservation he was very combative saying they were behind schedule and there was nothing he could do. I told him we had made this reservation months ago and my spot should’ve been secured. Eventually after 30 minutes we were brought to a table (mind you this was an hour after our first reservation time). But, this table was two two-tops pushed together…. For my party of 6! I asked the host if we could sit at the open table next to us (which was 3 two-tops pushed together) but he said “no, that table has a reservation”. When I asked why our reservation didn’t get us that table the host got very angry with me and verbally fought me to keep me from the table. Eventually a man, who I assume was the manager, let us have the table. Our food was great and the lady who served us was amazing. But the host ruined the experience for the party. I could not believe how rude he was being to me and how little respect he had for our reservation. I later came to find out that our reservation got moved so they could squeeze in parties that called same day to get spot. All in all, the management at this establishment always hires one bad egg and we always seem to get them. Don’t take the chance and waste 100s of dollars here, go somewhere else.

We love fondue — and it’s a must when skiing in Europe. So we thought we’d try it here, however we were left bitterly disappointed. The portion sizes were tiny; the pot was not even half full. To say there was a slither of cheese would be an overstatement. The fire kept going out too, so the cheese was cold, but not as cold as the clearly frozen vegetables which we sent back twice yet were still charged for. Left hungry, we ordered the french onion soup, which was watery and presented with no real care. The experience felt rushed, unpleasant and the general ambience of the restaurant was a far cry from the sort of experience you’d expect from such an expensive establishment. You’d be better off flying to Switzerland to try the real thing. It’s probably end up cheaper.

Fortunately the level of service has improved greatly since the previous reviews of Swiss Haven, that I read here. Our server was pleasant and attentive. Unfortunately, our issue was with the food - not the quality but the quantity. Three of us ordered the House Fondue for $42. It was very good, sadly, the amount of fondue served, that was in the fondue pot was about one inch! Truth be told, it was more of an appetizer portion than that of an entree! Rather than ordering more food we decided to leave and eat elsewhere that evening. Perhaps they should consider offering other sizes of the House Fondue & charge accordingly?

Our experience overall was a nightmare at this place. For starters, the apetizers (7French onion soops took 45 minutes to arrive)… thereafter our 4 cheese fondue plates arrived close to an hour after that. You would think that an item like fondue would be prepared quickly, but no. We ended up cancelling our meat fondue as it was 2 hours in and no signs from the waiter or kitchen. Again, raw meat that you cook at the table, it really baffles me you why it should take so long. As an aside, bread quality is poor and the menu overall is SEVERELY/EMBARRASINGLY overpriced. To top it all off, Im fairly certain that if the fire department were to visit this place the night we were there they would shut the place down on the spot. They put two large parties (12-15 people) along with a table of 6 into a small room (~20ft x 10ft), PLEASE PLEASE look elsewhere.

Tourist trap. 40$ for a tiny bit of cheese on the bottom of the pot. In Switzerland (even in touristic places) you get a nearly full pot for the same money (and no need to tip). The cheese itself is good and service was nice, but it doesn't compensate for the ridiculously small amount of food.

From the moment we walked up the stairs to The Swiss Haven, we knew it was going to be a great experience. The maitre 'd started to tell us there might be a wait. He ended up saying, "....it will be 2 minutes, no more than 5..." What a wonderful surprise as another restaurant told us 20-30 minutes of wait time! We were seated in 3 minutes! No joking! He asked our waiter Christopher to take good care of us, and yes, he did!! We went from one delicious dish to another. Their Baked Brie was, is, the best I've had since.....since...never; and I can honestly say that as I've tasted my share of fondues in Switzerland and Germany. The portion sizes were perfect for my need to try everything on the menu; from the French onion soup, to the Swiss Farmer Plate, to the beef tips course and finish with white and milk chocolate for dessert. My wife and I were seated for a relaxed dinner for two. In came a group of 20 pepople - half preteen kids - who were seated right next to us. We couldn’t hear to speak to each other. The onion doup was lukewarm. The vegetables seved with our chicken fondue made no sense -small carrot sticks. The chicken pieces were miniscule. The last time we ate here ee had an enjoyable experience. Not this time!

We were happy to find a fondue place in Breckenridge. Good food. Great service. We had cheese and chocolate fondues. Our host was very helpful. The waiter was amazing. We are planning to be back.

An absolute rip off! We went there with a large group of friends and were surprised to see the tiny portion sizes, given the price they charge. The cheese fondue was tasty but the amount of cheese was a joke, just a little on the bottom of the pan, with a few bits of bread and lots of crumbs… the grill was mostly veg, not enough raclette cheese or meat, and the chocolate fondue was good for 1 person (a couple of strawberries, half sliced banana and a few tiny marshmallows), not 3 people as suggested. The only detail missing to make this straight up robbery was waiters carrying guns. Service was good though…

Swiss Haven was ok. Just ok. The best part of the experience was our server, who was hard-working, humorous, and enthusiastic. The restaurant itself was lacking in ambiance, very loud, and cramped. The food was ok, nothing special as for flavor. The food quantity was small. The cheese fondue bowl was about 1/5 full. Same with the chocolate fondue (see photos of fork and small marshmallow showing level of chocolate fondue fill level). In fact, for the high price of the food, the quality and quantity was seriously lacking. If you come here wanting to feel full after spending $100/head, you’ll be disappointed. Be prepared to spend a lot of money for a mediocre experience. I get that this is a ski resort town and we should expect pricey meals, but we also ate at Twist and Salt Creek Steak House, and both of those are far better value for the money.

The food was great but the host was extra mean. We reserved space for a baby, he decided to leave little room and when we arrived he kept making a scene of how there was no space for the stroller. He even told us that because of us he had to cancel a reservation do to lack of space. We felt so uncomfortable that we almost left. Only because of how waiter and his help did we stay. Over all good food, horrible experience. Not going back with family.

A lovely night of fondue here! The beers pair well with the meal and they had many authentic touches and options throughout the meal. Her waiter was attentive even though the place was packed!

We discovered it by walking past and went back twice in one week, we liked it so much. Their cheese fondue was a favorite (and seemed very authentic Swiss), their broth fondue is also great and either can be served at individual portion side, in case some of your party don't do cheese. The whole meal, topped with a chocolate fondue for dessert, was also a favorite with our 7-year-old.

There's nothing Swiss or haven-ly about this place. We were a party of 13 adults and 7 children under 10 with reservations. We arrived and they were completely unprepared. I won't go into details because I'll be here all day. But the words that keep coming to my head are: total tourist trap. Ambiance - zero. Old tables, mismatched chairs, zero charm, zero effort, zero updating in decades. Service: Our server was overwhelmed, after a while another server started helping him. No uniforms, name tags, nothing. Not sure how, but they were somehow managing to take care of all of us, but barely. He was also nice and had a lot of energy to deal with such a large party. Manager came around when we arrived. I didn't even know who he was for a solid 20 minutes while the scrambled to find enough chairs for us. I only realized he was a manager when we asked the server to split the check in 3. Manager stepped in and you would have thought we asked him to split the check 18 ways. After insisting, he allowed us to split the check 2 ways. Unprofessional in his demeanor, communication skills and attire. Food: Absolutely underwhelming for the price - I have had great fondue. This was FAR from it. If you are with children, the only option for them is fondue or mac&cheese. Read through some of the other low rating reviews for a more detailed description of the food. I agree with all of them. At over $2,400 or $125/head including the children, this was most likely the most expensive mediocre food I have ever paid for. We are a close group of friends and family so we had a blast either way, but I would never come back here. Not sure how they are still in business in such a nice town with such good options.

Went for a date night with my wife. We were excited to have fondue as it was our first time expending it. The waiter didn’t have much of a recommendation, so we ordered what we thought would go together. The beef was excellent with the cheese, but the three other sides were pretty bad paired with the cheese. Including tip the bill was over $100. It was extremely expensive for the quality and amount of food we received. I would have selected another restaurant if I had know it would be so expensive.

We came in 2days earlier just looking for a bathroom but they weren't open yet. It's now date night and we came in for a drink at the absinthe bar downstairs before dinner and the owner remembered us! He is so sweet!! He even checked on us during our meal! The menu was a little pricey but certainly worth it. We will definitely recommend this spot to friends and be back!

A 5 Star dining experience for sure! Our waiter was really helpful with describing the cheeses. I went with the Moitié Moitié cheese fondue with the bread, apples, and sautéed vegetables but my favorite was the broccoli with the fondue! The french onion soup was also top tier! Great experience!

This place is extremely expensive. Honestly the food was pretty good and the wait staff are awesome but thats about where the positive ends. The price you pay at the end was not worth what you receive through your meal. We spent over $400 for 3 and we were left still hungry. Honestly this was the most expensive dinner we had in Breckenridge and it was sad that we were still left hungry...

Yes, this place is very, very expensive. That is the only reason I took away one star. In all other respects, it is amazing. The cheese fondue is absolutely not to be missed! Seriously, if you go here and don't get it, you need to have your head examined! The main fondue is also quite good, but if you aren't planning on the cheese fondue (again, shame on you!) you might consider getting two meat portions for 2 people. And, of course, the chocolate fondue should not be questioned. Just get it. (Although side note to the staff: can you please replace the mini marshmallows with a few big ones?) The atmosphere is very authentic to the Alps and the restaurant is very COVID safe. Will definitely go back!!!

I give massive credit to the staff. The waiters are attentive and fast. It's welcoming and the atmosphere is comfortable. The absinthe is was lovely, and served perfectly. The food though.. being handed untoasted sliced italian bread is a bit sad. The singular apple that was the side was grainy (granted, it was February). Raw mushrooms were a bit of a miss. Lights steamed broccoli and carrots worked well. The important bit, the cheese itself, was quite tasty. For the price, the food is an embarrassment. Still, the location, staff, and drinks are solid.
