The food was tasteful. The place is dirty. Carpets nasty you can tell they didn’t vacuum. To top off the young lady comes back with my change and states sorry I gave you less. SMH! That would be like me giving you a portion of the bill and walking out and saying sorry thats all I have. I will not be back or recommend!

We ordered in from this restaurant - Aloo paratha, Goat Biryani, Chicken Biryani and Matar Paneer. The food was not upto the mark. We specifically provided some instructions for the parantha but none was followed, neither did they deny any customizations. Close to $100 food and we could hardly consume 1/4th of it because it lacked taste. Will never order from here. They didn’t even bother to call back or apologize even after I submitted the feedback (via UberEats). This shows their customer centricity. I also requested disposable utensils, and they didn’t send it either. Have never had such a bad experience with any of the restaurants ever!!

Returned to find everything still exactly the same. The consistency is great! First time for Indian food. We were there at lunch so we had the buffet. That way I could sample the different types of food....and I did. Everything was wonderful tasting. I had been warned that their service staff were kind of cold but we found it just the opposite. Great food and great service. We'll be back soon!

The food was great, service was as well. Wait staff friendly, and very well timed. Water glasses filled empty plates taken in a timely matter without obtrusive hovering (exceptionally good!) We had a quiet pleasant meal.

We ordered tandoori chicken and chicken tikka masala with garlic naan and mango lassi to drink. The tandoori chicken was so dry I had to dip it in the sauce of chicken tikka masala for me to chew on it. The garlic naan was paper thin with barely enough dough. The service was horrendous. We waited 25 minutes for someone to come and take our order. And we had to wave at the waiter to get their attention. I observed two other tables that were seated after us being served before us. Even though we ordered lassi along with our main dishes, we didn't get the lassi until we were almost done with our dinner. We again had to waive at the waiter and remind him of our lassi order. All in all, the food was bang average and I would never go here if I am hungry and need prompt service.

Great place, awesome food, service is as accommodating as they can considering how constantly slammed they are. Love the family style entrees, will definitely visit again.

I recently dined at the Taj Mahal in New Mexico and had an exceptional experience! The rice and veggie korma were absolutely delicious, bursting with flavor and cooked to perfection. The ambiance was warm and inviting, creating a perfect setting for a relaxed meal. The staff were friendly.and ensuring that our dining experience was top-notch. I was disappointed with the service. Came in for lunch and while I was seated immediately and asked what I would like to drink, the service ended there. It looked like there was a lunch buffet but I was not told this nor the price. I also was not given a menu nor even told if ordering off the menu was possible during lunch. In short after being seated I was completely ignored and left to figure things out myself despite having 2 or 3 attendants standing around close by. This figuring things out for ones self was also present when coming in the west entrance. One finds one's self in a hallway after entering and then needing to descend stairs into what appeared to have been an empty lower dining room. Crossing this to another stairway one has to ascend another set of stairs to what appears to be the main dining room and entrance. Without any signs or staff attending guests coming in one can only guess where one is at and where to go. If a person had a disability or difficulty walking this needing to go up and down two flights of stairs without help could actually be dangerous. Like with the menu and buffet, not letting people know what is expected of them, it just seems a crazy way to do business. Normally greeters or wait staff explain what is going on for lunch; specials, prices, etc. or at least ask if a person has been there before. Or you have signs telling people to use the main entrance. This is very basic stuff for restaurant service. It makes one wonder what other basics might be missing here. Communication issues continue to be one of the reasons front of the house service often fails. In this case I just got up and left without eating. If you're letting your customers have to figure everything out for themselves, including how just to enter the building I'm not sure I want to find out what else they are neglecting to tell us.

There were 3 of us and all ordered dishes with lamb as the protein. All 3 were very obviously not lamb, but BEEF! Very disappointed.

The food is above average. The service is outstanding. The atmosphere is less than average. It’s a bit crowded and open. The buffet is $18 a person for lunch. Not bad for the variety they give you, but a little bit on the expensive side.the service is outstanding and the staff is very friendly.

I have only been here for the buffet. It's always very good. I have looked at their dinner menu and it's extensive. After eating here the first time I never bothered looking for another Indian restaurant in Albuequerque.

Haven't been to the Taj Mahal in years. Went there last night on a date. And the waiter looked like he just rolled out of bed. I asked them if the dish they recommended had bones in it cause it said a 1/2 a chicken. They said no. I ended up getting was chicken wings, so bones. We had to ask for water numerous times, our waiter was not attentive at all. I so won't be going back. So Very Disappointed

Everyone visiting or living in Albuquerque needs to have Taj Mahal at least once. Best food in the city IMHO. We’ve ordered from here so many times we’ve lost count. Consistently the best dinner take-out option we’ve had our four years living in Albuquerque. Generous portions, amazing naan, loved every dish we’ve ever had with no complaints. Even ordered it as our last dinner before we moved out of the area. 🌟

The five stars is for the service, the food quality and value for what you get. The Mrs and I ate here after a blind restaurant search on Google maps. We were so surprised when we walked in. There's a really cool dining area....downstairs! The service was really good and so was the food. We ordered several of the chicken dishes, which came with plenty of rice. The naan was good. When we come back to Albuquerque, we're definitely eating here again. .

I used to love eating here, but recently the naan has been stiff and hard and I ordered the sushi murg biryani and it was mostly canned peas and bell peppers, which is not in the dish description and from what I saw online before ordering it not part of it normally. Extremely disappointed. Also they used to include the chips with the chutney dips and don’t anymore. The only thing that was good was the mango lassi

I was in Albuquerque for a work training and being that we don't have any Indian restaurants in my small little town of Alamogordo, I sought out something we don't have in my town. I gave this place a shot and was very happy I did. First off the waiter I had was very nice, and I enjoyed all the staff. Service was prompt, everything came pretty quick, and the food was very flavorful. I only have limited experience with Indian food, but I tried some stuff I've never tried including my appetizer and experienced flavors I haven't before. It was good and it will be somewhere I go again when I go back to Albuquerque.

I really wanted to like this place but it just didnt happen for me. Went for dinner. The appetizer of Kachumber Salad was fresh, the Bawachi Ki Pasand was ok. But then had the Tandoori Khoobiyan & it was all downhill from there. It all was so, so dry including the rice & some pieces were even burnt. Maybe what I ate was leftover prepared food from the noon buffet & just reheated?? Or maybe the Tandori griller needs more practice... Could barely cut the meat with a knife. The Keema naan bread was bland and couldnt even taste the lamb in it. The best part of the meal was the salad & Thandi Chai. Seasoning were just not up to par with any Indian food I have ever eaten. Disappointing meal.

Since i am an indian …i know how Indian cuisine tastes. This restaurant has forced me to say that this was the most disgusting indian food i ever had. Representing it with the name of Taj i guess is just overrating it. All the good reviews are from non-indians. I was travelling a long and really needed good food but i left my meal without even eating half of it.

6/2/24 @ 1115 I witnessed a teenage boy stick his hand down the front of his pants and itch his genitals for at least 10-15 seconds. I notified the young waiter with glasses of the event and told him he might want to change the serving spoons on the buffet after the kid leaves. The young waiter giggled and said ok. He did not change spoons as I've been watching & waiting for 20 minutes. I'm glad I was the first one at the buffet..

In comparison to all Indian food I've eaten, and I grew up in Malaysia eating Indian-Punjabi food, this place is just not up to snuff. It tastes like an imitation, Indian-adjacent. I would instead recommend Royal Hyderabad or Taj Palace

I first visited Taj Majal on a business trip to Albuquerque a decade ago. Since moving here, it has remained a very reliable option. If you like it hot, order the Mirch Masala, as great a combo of heat and flavor as you could hope to find. I've always found the service to be gracious. Prices are comparable to most typical Indian restaurants.

We were traveling, and we decided to eat Indian foods instead of others. And we ordered Tandoori Khoobiyan $19.95 and Garlic naan $3.50 plus Naan Akbari $2.50. We just wanted to give a try. Oh my god this place would be first and last for me. Good thing we didn’t order lots , All of the foods were too much dry and hard to swallow and we fed dog. And they had some kind wedding or something was going on. They packed us left over foods from party. We came hotel in 5 minutes and opened our foods everything looks so dry. I forgot to take a pictures of those dry foods. Shame on you whoever packed ours foods. Do not try to feed your dry foods to customers.make happy not disappointed You guys disappointed us. Very bad online order too they don’t how to talk customer ether. I will give 0 star if there was an option. 👎👎👎👎👎👎

This place has good Indian staples, reasonable prices (especially the lunch buffet), and a magical atmosphere that's hard to imagine until you've been inside.

We all as an group of 8 people’s have great fresh food, great taste & great service. Owner Simranji & Gaganji & entire staffs was outstanding with their hospitality while taking care for what we ask for to cook. Was great place to Eat in Quito. I personally suggest to any travellers to go & visit once, you will go back again for sure.

I've been dining at the Taj since I was a wee lad. Yesterday I brought my toddler for his first lunch buffet. He ate two plates and a bowl of mango custard! Always the best Indian cuisine to me, and now my two-year-old's favorite as well. Thank you, Taj Mahal, for feeding generations of my family with delicious and healthy food.

This is not Indian food. All frozen canned vegetables dumped in uncooked tomato puree is not Indian food. These guys need to learn to cook Indian food or stop marketing themselves as Indian restaurant.

Being an Indian I can assure you it is not Indian food that they serve. Frozen vegetables or chicken in a cream or tomato paste sauce that you get in cans is how they make the butter chicken the paneer makhani and pretty much all the curries . Very unhealthy . Pls do not propagate these unhealthy food . This is not how Indian food is made

Everytime that my family and I dine in, we spend at least $150. Yet everytime the service trash and the food is subpar. (For some reason the take-out is always up to par 🧐... I wonder why) Yesterday they gave us barely cooked rice for the entire table 🤢 This used to be an amazing restaurant about 5 years ago, now it's just unpleasant and dreary and the food is just as displeasing as the service. We won't be going back ✌🏼

We have patronized Taj Mahal for years; however, today’s service was unpleasant. Apparently angered to accommodate our friends’ two small children, he was clearly surly throughout our lunch, and failed to offer beverages to accompany our meal. The buffet meal was again appetizing. We’ll try again soon, hoping that the fellow was just having a tough day.

Came for the weekend lunch buffet. The food was lukewarm and lacked flavor. It tasted like frozen food that had been microwaved. Did not even finish a plate. Would not recommend.

We were a little skeptical to eat here based on some of the more recent reviews, but our experience was excellent. We ordered appetizers and they were brought out within five minutes. Our entrees were brought out just as soon as we had finished our appetizers. I had the lamb, chicken, beef and shrimp, tandoori combo and it was prepared perfectly. My wife had the curry lamb and it was also very good. It was also an excellent value. Our dinner including the two entrées, two appetizers, and two teas was just above $50. We will be back!

I ordered this food from Uber Eats and it was absolutely delicious! I had the Paneer Makhani Masala and it was incredibly flavorful - it was so good! I also ordered the Kachumber, I would rate its taste a 6.5 out of 10. As for the presentation, I would give it a 3. You can see why in the photo. However, despite the presentation, the food was great overall. I definitely recommend it.

Great food! But in the middle of our meal, they decided to start doing an industrial cleaning of the carpets!? And filled the entire restaurant with noise and smell of dirty sewar dishwater! RUINED our whole meal , we just left ASAP. the waiters and mangers didnt even seem to care at all when brought it up!

Unfortunately, the food is not complex enough or plentiful enough to justify the prices. The food is edible enough, a very low bar, but the portions are incredibly small, at least for takeout, which is somewhat typical of Indian restaurants. The Jehangiri Kofta for example only include 4 of the driest, smallest, most rubbery meatballs imaginable in a sea of generic coconut curry sauce. At $16.95, that is completely unconscionable. The food is decent enough I suppose if you’ve never actually tasted good Indian food, but again not complex enough or interesting enough (or high quality enough) to justify a second visit. Royal Hyderabad is a much superior restaurant in Albuquerque and what I recommend for truly authentic and well executed Indian cuisine.

She got chicken saag and I got lamb kabab (which was curry, not a shish kabab). Both dishes as well as the chicken wing appetizer and the naan were excellent. I enjoyed the music, decorations, and dishes that our food was plated on. Everything was ornate and looked unique.

First time here, went for the buffet. The establishment appeared clean, but crowded, the food was appealing and tasty, and were it not for the exorbitant price's, we would otherwise return. The price for 2 buffet lunche's and 1 drink, came to $42.00 dollars, and that is overpriced by any stretch of the imagination. Foods good, but not worth the price charged, not recommended.

I cannot say enough good things about the food. The dishes I ordered were superb! The man who brought out the main dish was very friendly, the owner or chef maybe. Service on the other hand was inattentive at best, and I’m being very generous in this area. I waited some time to be seated after speaking to 3 wait staff (8:00 p.m.). All of them said they had a rush but no clean tables. Not one of them made an effort to clear a table for me or the 2 other parties waiting. When I was finally seated, I had to wait for that table to be cleaned as it was also dirty. I also waited until after my order arrived to receive silverware and a napkin. You seem to have a great restaurant with amazing food, I hope these servers were just new or something.

One of the worst biriyani I have ever tested in my entire life. They named it hyderabadi biriyani for mixed fried rice. I don’t recommend it for south Indian’s.

We waited about an hour after we ordered for an order of dal makhani and garlic naan, both of which should have super quick to prepare. Other diners did get their orders more quickly. The water first said there had been a kitchen mishap. Then he said there had been a mixup. It wouldn't have been so bad if the food had been good. But it wasn't. Both the dal and naan were bland. To be fair they did discount our meal. But in the end it wasn't worth it.

The staff is incredibly rude. The restaurant was not busy when me and my partner went we were ignored for about 10 minutes when we arrived and when wee were seated the server was obviouslyupset we were there and rolled his eyes. We had to ask to have refills on our water twice and we sill only received one half glass of water for that refill. The male seve with long blonde hair is the one who "served" us. when my partner confronted him about the terrible service he told to us to "relax" and then told us to "get out of his restaurant " most of my friends and family used to love coming here but we don't appreciate being treated like this when we did nothing wrong. That server was horrible profusely bothered when we asked for a refill thats it. We did the buffet so we didn't need anything else. I'm very upset being sp disrespected by someone who couldn't serve us water at the very least.

So sad to post a critical review of a restaurant we once loved. (Maybe they changed owners recently?) The service was abysmal: rude at best and completely inattentive. We went for the lunch buffet and none of us went back for seconds, even our ravenous teenage boys. That’s how unappetizing the “food” was. Yuck.

We recently had the pleasure of dining at Taj Mahal Indian Restaurant, and I must say it was an incredible experience. From the moment we stepped in, the atmosphere was welcoming and warm, with traditional Indian decor and soft music. The service was top-notch, and the staff was attentive and accommodating. But the real highlight of the evening was the food. Every dish was expertly prepared, bursting with flavor and spices that transported us to India. The naan was hot and fresh, and the chicken tikka masala was one of the best I've ever tasted. I also appreciated that they had plenty of vegetarian and vegan options. And to top it off, the prices were reasonable for the quality and amount of food we received. I highly recommend Taj Mahal Indian Restaurant, and I must give a special shoutout to our wait-staff, who's names I can't recall, for making our dining experience truly exceptional.
