Extremely rude and hostile staff, especially the girl working there. Food is average but for the staff rating, even rude is an understatement, it’s like they were doing us a favor or something. We couldn’t even digest our food properly in their hostile presence and constant trash talk about customers. Never recommended for anyone to come here.

Worst staff. They don’t know how to talk to customers. Unprofessional, Rude and disrespectful staff especially the lady server.

Food is not good it's is sour taste. It's not the taste of India. Just visit the nawabi Hyderabadi Biryani house. We can explore the south Indian taste exactly. There is a rating of 4.5 for taj but the food was very bad. We have ordered mutton curry, chicken curry,garlic naan, taj non vegetarian platter,rasmalai. In that taj non vegetarian platter only lamb sheek kebab is good. Rest of them we can't eat. Don't trust google review of this restaurant.

Lovely server, chicken Tikka masala was very good and so was the garlic naan, and the masala tea! Great experience, good portion size and I would absolutely eat there again and recommend it as a good place when you're in the mood for Indian cuisine!!

This restaurant is soo good! I get the Tikka Masala. I got the chicken one last time (I didn’t love the chicken part) and the paneer this time. The paneer was really great but I really enjoyed the sauce just poured over the rice on its own or the garlic naan dipped in it. It’s a big portion for about 3 meals. Give this place a try!

Ordered chilli paneer, but it looked, smelled and tasted like paneer do pyaaza sabji

- Lamb Samosa 5/5, loved the tamarind, mint, and onion sauces that came with it - Garlic Naan was crispy and warm - Butter Chicken was yummy and spicy (medium spice was perfect) - Mango Lassi was too sweet for my personal liking but still very good - Server was timely and professional

We used Taj Modern for our welcome dinner/ Sungeit. They are world class! They brought an entire set up to our venue to cook on site, and all the food was so fresh and delicious. People were raving about how perfect the food was. They hosted us for a tasting event before the event where we took family, and it felt like home. They honored every single request with ease. If you’re looking for a wedding or event catering look no more. Taj modern is who you are looking for!

It's alright - there are better places around but acceptable in a pinch and a good value.

We ordered both chicken and Veg Biryani and it was super spicy! Salt wasn’t right and just added too many chillies! Green chutney wasn’t even made of coriander!

The food is always top-notch. This is a small family restaurant, so the service is always helpful and personal. And the atmosphere, while not equal to that of a first-class establishment, is warm and cheerful.

I have always came here for about 5 years now and i hate to say it but the past 2 years the quality of the naans have been really bad and i love indian food and this restaurant and the people here are amazing the girls that work here ( owner's daughter and daughter in-law) are amazing but the naans were not eatable they were all burnt and i had to throw them away unfortunately and yesterday just disappointing me that this is the naan they give to the customers, we are paying to eat the food not throw it away , please fix your naan we love this place and dont want to stop coming here because of the naans

We’d driven by this place a million times and never even noticed it. Found it on Trip Advisor and decided to try it after reading the reviews. It’s obviously a family owned place. Very sweet and attentive staff and the food was DELICIOUS and moderately priced. This is our new “go-to” for Indian food. Eat-in space is small and clean. I suspect they do mostly takeout.

Dined at Taj for a Thursday lunch while I'm out of town in Hingham, Ma . Friendly staff cooked my chicken tikka masala just to my liking . The nan that came with our dinner was fresh and warm. Our samosas were delicious. And finished off with Gulab jamun . Thank you for a great lunch .

An amazing find! In town for work and discovered this family run restaurant. The food was fantastic, and the service was friendly and helpful. Brought a friend here that had never had Indian food before. He loved it! Highly recommend this place.

My favorite Indian place has become kind of meh. I feel like the sauce quality has gone down. Got takeout and the sauces were pretty broken and had a lot of oil. Not their usual stuff. Naan was burnt

This is my GO-TO Indian Restaurant. Always go there or do takeout. Flavors are wonderful, my favorite dish is “Methir Mutter Malai” (Sorry for the spelling), I cannot go there and not have it. Good appetizers, excellent garlic Naan. Very good prices. Bathroom is always clean. I wish more people knew about this gem. Please open on Mondays, that’s my only advice!

I ordered two dishes for take out and delivery. One was a lamb dish where the chunks of meat were so tough, it could not be chewed. The sauce was heavy and tasted as if it had been thickened with cornstarch. The second dish was okra which was tasteless and even had some bits of the stems in the dish. The Nan was fine. All the food came cold when delivered. When we called to complain the owner was rude and dismissive and insinuated that we were not being truthful, citing that nobody else had complained about the food all evening. I would never recommend this restaurant to any one and would encourage them to try some of the other Indian restaurants in the area. Very disappointing experience.

I absolutely LOVE Taj. It’s small, casual, and the food is excellent. The range of different Indian dishes they offer is amazing. Their vegetarian menu is extensive and the garlic naan is the best I’ve ever had.

Biriyani was yum and was well worth the money. A nice Indian restaurant to stop by in this part of Massachusetts.

Visited Taj Modern Indian Cuisine today for lunch and took home some takeout. Excellent service and the most delicious food! Their Naan bread offerings are fantastic - I went with the Chicken Naan and highly recommend it! I also ordered Basmati Rice, extra Naan bread, and Gulab Jamun. They kindly gifted me a container of Tandoori Chicken too. Highly recommend Taj Modern Indian Cuisine!

We travel 15 minutes to eat at Taj —— best authentic Indian food on S. Shore. We go there once a week and the food is always delicious !

Best Indian food in the Boston area! North shore, Boston proper, west of Boston? Don’t bother. Taj is the real deal. Great prices, great portions, and the food is soooo good. My picky eating kids beg for it! Our hearts have been broken so many Mondays when we’re craving Indian, Taj is closed, and nothing else can compare!!

Taj isn't much to look at, but man is the food good. I've visited there twice about a year ago and I left stuffed and content, happily smelling of fenugreek and garlic. I couldn't wait to go back! Fast forward a few months and I’m back, this time with my six-year-old niece in tow. While they don’t offer a buffet option (few places do, post-COVID), they offered a host of small bite options to introduce an adventurous child to Indian food, which she has now proclaimed a new favorite. Thank you, Taj, for helping me initiate another generation into the treat that is Indian cuisine!

Showed up for lunch earlier in the day, nobody there nobody at the front. Saw a man in the kitchen barefoot (seriously) on his phone, tried to make enough noise to get his or anyones attention. Left hungry and unimpressed

Wondering how they can mess up something as basic as Chai. It's a shame that Dunkins has better Chai than this 'indian' cuisine place. And the other dishes are worse, they lack the authentic taste and essence of Indian cuisine. The samosa stuffing was just mashed potatoes with turmeric. Used to be a regular pre-covid days and loved their dishes. Either the Chef changed or they have decided to target a different customer base. Whatever the reason Adieu to Taj.

Worst Indian food that I had in Massachusetts I’ll be needing any food over 24 years now this place is a disaster please do not go there not even close to Indian food. Super clean inside, which is a big deal for me. The door to the kitchen was open and it also appeared very clean. The chicken tikka is really good, chicken is tender. The vegetable samosas are good as well, but on the overly salted side. Still worth 5 stars

So I don't really give reviews but this place is a must-try. The food is delicious and the price is just right. I drove 40 mins to try their food for the first time and I must say, it was well worth it.

TAJ is absolutely delicious. Amazing fresh vegetables in every dish. Their fresh baked breads are an excellent accompaniment to their deliciously tangy and spicy entrees. My wife enjoys mild and I spicy and Taj accommodates each of us to a preferred tastes. A few choices that we order time and time again are the Aloo Gobi, Mixed Vegetable Curry, Chicken Do Piaza, Tandoori Salmon, Vegetable Biryani. Seating is modest and I would guess it is a family run establishment as their concentration to detail is remarkably attentive. Pricing is modest. Portions are sumptuous.

They have a great menu that offers a large variety of delicious dishes from the Indian cuisine. The staff is friendly , professional and the prices are fair. The place was clean and the atmosphere very pleasant.

This is but far the best Indian cuisine in our region. The customer service is exceptional, they deliver, and the food is on-par with their Best of Boston competitors. The kitchen is fast, the aromas are great, and you always leave with leftovers. Sauces are traditional and authentic, no bulk preparations or premixed packets here. One of the Gems!!

Best Indian food on South Shore

$4 glasses of wine, $10-15 entrees, fast service. Food was great and we finished with leftovers. Try the mango juice and the channa massala! Or anything paneer!

To start with, the place was not crowded at all. The ambiance was okay. We order a non-veg platter along with chicken and mutton curries, but all of em were remotely authentic. The taste of the non- veg platter was ok. Mutton Rogan Josh was full of tomato paste with no flavor and the chicken was not at all up to the basic standard. All in all, the food looks good tastes bad.

One of the best place to try North Indian food. They serve lunch buffet with variety of food. I personally like Kali Mirch Tikka, Goat Rogan Josh & Butter Chicken with Garlic Naan. They also did catering on my son’s birthday and all of our guests praised their food. Miss you Gidda Bhaji 🙏🏻

This is the first time I have tried Indian food, so I can't compare it to other Indian restaurants. I can say that the food was great, the service was great, and the prices were very reasonable. My son and I got the weekend lunch buffet and it was well worth it. I'm looking forward to going back again soon.

This was one of the best Indian food I ever had. I'm from NJ and am used to eating really good Indian food. This restaurant is nothing pretty to look at but the food is out of this world. Staff was very helpful and friendly and prices were affordable as well. If you are near by this restaurant, I highly recommend that you stop by.

The buffet is very good. I had a lovely time, and all the food was delicious. They really get it right. not super crowded, so that's good. The wait staff is very nice, and they bring you bread and keep your glasses of water filled! I would recommend this place to anyone.

Authentic Punjabi food. I have had Indian food at a lot of different places around but this one is awesome. They have the most delicious Malai kofta, chicken tikka masala. The garlic naans r so soft and fresh. Everything was so fresh that I can’t compliment them enough. A Sunday afternoon well spent !!
