Ate here over 50 times...very good sushi...smallish place

Holy cow, what a hidden gem! The sushi here is honestly amazing— fresh, good portions, fantastic selection, and best of all really great prices! I know it’s crazy but if a place serves basic California rolls for more than $9, you know your wallet will be hurting at the end of the meal. No worries here! The staff was all SUPER sweet as well. Just found our new favorite restaurant and will be back many many times!

My go to sushi restaurant! Have never had a bad meal (or even a bad roll). The staff is incredibly friendly and welcoming to everyone. We absolutely love Take Sushi. Small bonus: when we went around the holidays they gave every guest a little holiday gift to bring home with them. Such a nice little touch.

I recently moved to the area, and I think this is the best sushi restaurant in the area. Tonight we also tried their crab egg drop soup, which was very tasty and different than a Chinese style egg drop soup.

I really loved the atmosphere it felt just like a real Japanese restaurant, our waiter was so kind and energetic and everyone who worked there was so nice, the sushi was really good too 10/10 recommend! I went on father's day with my family and they gave us a free matcha cake for free before we left, I'll definitely go back!

Excellent, authentic Japanese foods. Sushi & sashimi are freshly prepared, as are the entreés. We always order family style and share our dishes, and almost always have enough for a lunch at home. I am not fond of the Japanese tea, but they do offer beer and soft drinks.

This is the best sushi restaurant around. I usually always order takeout and they will package it however you request. Its extremely fresh and very tasty run by traditional Japanese chefs and wait staff. ❤

A hidden gem in our area was recommended to us. A small restaurant serving Japanese fare and spirits. Menus in Japanese and English. I had a chicken dish over rice that was generous in portion and superior in flavor. Our dining companions had an assortment of sushi selections served on 2 huge platters. Again, the sushi portions were large and flavorful. Service was pleasant, professional, and prompt. We will be back. I'd recommend Take Sushi to anyone wanting a quiet, Japanese meal in a cozy location with friends.

This is my favorite place ever in Rochester. Everyone I recommend this restaurant to falls in love. The food is consistently delicious and the restaurant is always very clean and very cozy. The wait staff has always been very kind and attentive. I have not been dining in due to covid, but I highly appreciate the staff still masking to protect themselves and their patrons. Thank you for feeding me Take Sushi <3 (try the OMG roll!!!!)

Always fresh! They have a wide selection of seafood here. I am convinced that this is the most delicious place on earth. Sashimi wise— I think you get less value. But other than that, this is the best place around. Been consistently eating here for the past 2 years and it’s still my favorite! I get take out and the workers have NEVER gotten it wrong! Very friendly individuals. Couldn’t say enough to emphasize how much I love TAKE SUSHI

Unfortunately got food poisoning here, it is no longer a safe / clean place to eat. They used to be great, but quality has gone down significantly. Really nice people though.

We got take-out. Wait was only 25 minutes, and they were exactly on time. Service to pick up the food was very kind. The food is delicious! The rolls are generous portions, and the chicken katsu was phenomenal. This is our new Japanese spot!

I regret to inform you that my recent experience at a listed sushi place was immensely disappointing, as the quality of food and service has drastically declined. Despite my late ordering time, I firmly believe that sushi should be served fresh and meticulously prepared, which was unfortunately not the case here. The cucumbers in my sushi were roughly cut with large, unappetizing pieces of skin left on, and the avocado was overripe to the point of being mushy and slimy. This alarming lack of attention to the freshness and quality of ingredients has raised serious concerns regarding the overall standards of this establishment, making me hesitant to trust the freshness of the fish and other components of the sushi. Sadly, based on this unsatisfactory experience, I have decided never to patronize this restaurant again and felt compelled to share my experience to caution potential diners considering this establishment. I hope this feedback is taken seriously and helps improve the accuracy and reliability of restaurant reviews and ratings on Gooogle maps.

I love this place! The sushi and gyoza were great, and the dining area is small and intimate. The staff were very polite and the atmosphere is very authentic. I wish I lived closer or I would definitely come here more often.

First time ordering sushi here & we were not disappointed. From the sweet women who took the order & greeted at the door, to the cute vibe & flavors, everything was top notch. The restaurant is cozy & clean. The chefs were fun to watch as they prepared orders and the sushi was simply fantastic.

I and my husband had sushi here for the first time. I must say this place did not disappoint me. They started with complimentary Miso soup and We ordered few rolls but volcano roll was my favorite which had tittle spicy kick in it. Staff was very welcoming and provided really good service. Only thing I felt was this place is little pricy compared to other sushi places in town, though I am saying its little pricy their portion size is bigger than the other places I have been to.

It is truly one of the best places in the area. Their rolls are big and delicious! The tempura udon is so good and flavorful. I've gone a couple of times for my birthday, too, once I've even gotten the boat serving tray.

Take Sushi is my absolute favorite place for sushi - both in Michigan and beyond. The staff is very friendly and attentive, and they happily answer any questions you have. The atmosphere feels clean but casual, and gives a comfortable feeling. The food is amazing - I’ve never had a sushi roll I didn’t like. We often dine in and place an order for takeout as we eat. You’re paying for the high quality ingredients and some of the best staff in town. Absolutely recommend for a lunch or takeout!

The sushi was bland. When does a sushi roll come with ground up/ minced salmon? I have had real sushi this is not it. Flavors were lacking I won’t be back. Sub par at best. There are better places.

Words cannot express how calming it is to go to Take Sushi. We have been customers for 21 years. The owner carried our daughter around when she was a baby so we could eat. Today as I prepare to send the baby off to college soon they were there for a special lunch. Let us in early and we had the most exquisite selection of chō moriawase. This is the best sushi around. Our friends who were from Japan said it was their favorite in metro Detroit. It’s our favorite because we love the family atmosphere that resounds in this crazy world!

I’ve been ordering the spicy California roll here for years. Today, I picked up my order and noticed it was mainly just avocado in my roll with some spicy mayo. I was eating in my car right outside of the restaurant, so I went back inside and showed the employee, and she said that’s how the roll is prepared. I responded with I won’t be ordering this roll again, If I wanted an avocado roll , I would’ve ordered that. Employee didn’t seem to care at all. I won’t be returning to this restaurant mainly because it doesn’t seem concerning to them if a customer is dissatisfied. You can clearly see by my pictures that there was hardly anything other than avocado.

Everyone there is very friendly and service was great. I would put this as a definite recommendation if you are in the area. Food was delicious.

Great sushi, never been let down

The worst sushi I have ever had if I can give it -5 star I would. The food quality Vert poor most of the roll open before we start to eat. Not sure if they have new owner or what but all the reviews they have I thought I’m getting the best sushi in town I can’t believe they are real reviews. I don’t mind paying for good food but not pay top dollar for grocery store quality even that I would say it’s better. Even the packaging it’s very poor they wrap the ginger and wasabi in a plastic saran wrap so disappointed , should try the place cross the street. The food taste old fishy and stale even the fried one taste like old oil.

best sushi in town. my boyfriend and i have made this our go-to date spot because of how awesome it is. it’s super cute inside and the prices are great! only downside is they used to give you free soup and salad, but now they don’t. please bring it back!! it was one of our favorite things. btw: the spicy salmon roll is to die for!!

Great place. It was packed when I came in at a little after 12 on a Friday. The sushi was phenomenal. The Bibimbap looked good too. Hands down the best sushi in the area. I love the yellowtail and the seaweed salad.

The best sushi around without question! By far the nicest staff around and every roll has been outstanding. For basic rolls the Spicy California and the Kampyo roll are next level. Would highly recommend you visit and dine in!

We LOVE this place. We refer to it as our secret "gem." So imagine our shock when my kids starting searching for "best sushi in Detroit," "freshest sushi in Southeast MI" and "top ten best sushi in Detroit" and they all included Take Sushi. So the secret is out! This is the best sushi locally! Note: the place is very small, and most people do take-out. Enjoy!

Always great sushi! There is something about Take Sushi that always makes me nostalgic. Many would say this is biased because my first sushi dining experience was here back in 2002, when the restaurant was twice as big. But it is comfortable and welcoming, and I am always treated as family, along with the friends who have also shared their hospitality. Their sushi rice tastes like my family recipe, though I can't claim to share their cultural heritage. But I will tell you I was very glad to see them in person when they reopened the dining room. Please go. Please enjoy.

We so love the food and atmosphere at this restaurant we just needed to express to the world what they are missing if they do not dine here. First one can not make a bad call on the food as there is not a bad item on the menu. The Hamachi Kama is top notch and so delicious also. Try it you’ll love it. The sushi is so fresh and likely swimming in the ocean the day before. The Alaskan soup is super yummy and a great starter. If your not a fan of sushi there is plenty of great cooked choices for you also. To give you more prospective my son broke his neck and was laid up for 6 weeks yet the first place he wanted to go once released from the hospital was TAKE Sushi. Just get here and you will enjoy authentic food. Also the family that owns this establishment also works this establishment so it is real. Now get in the car and get here is all you have to do and if there is a wait just wait as it will be worth it!!! I guarantee!

This is above and beyond - my favorite sushi place! Their Michigan roll is unlike anywhere I've ever seen. They also have the best Korean bibimbap. I can't recommend this place enough. Our family always chooses them for special occasions too.

This was my first ever sushi 20 years ago. Now I've been all over the world and eaten sushi everywhere I've been. I still come home to Take Sushi and I always will. Best Sushi I've had in North America. Such a wonderful family pillar of the area. Fish is delightfully fresh / sublime. The flavor combos are incredible, my wife is a foodie from Los Angeles and even she admits Take Sushi is worthy of respect.

Edit: for the past few months, I feel like they have lacked freshness. The fish has been occasionally fishy or soft, the rice tastes stale, and the wasabi has no bite to it. I have 3 roles in front of me now, and I'm considering throwing them away. There's no better benchmark of company performance than how they handle a mistake. When our order fell short, not only did they solve the issue, they offered to deliver and added complimentary soup and chopsticks. Few businesses deserve a sixth star. Take Sushi earns that star. Bravo!

Incredible service and food. The atmosphere is nice, quiet, and relaxed. The tea is hot and the rolls come out quick. The yakisoba is a cut above the rest. I promise that your eyes will be bigger than your stomach, because the rolls are not only delicious but sizeable!

The interior looks nicer than the exterior, but the sushi is a dissapointment. Krab for real crab substitutions, lesser quality cuts of tuna and the first time I threw out food. Try Sushi Cafe one block east for an excellent experience.
