Tam O'Shanter was wonderful! The service was excellent and the waiter was so nice and friendly. The food was really good...I tried the cauliflower Tikka Masala and others got the Shepherd's Pie (which they raved about). The group enjoyed the desserts and coffee.

Somehow when I was looking for steak place on the internet, this restaurant did not show up. I was about to go to another restaurant but didn't like that place, so I saw the sign of this place nearby so that was why I ended up eating at this restaurant. I found out later that Tam O' Shanter is the oldest restaurant in LA! Building inside and outside inspire by Disney fairy tale style. Service and food were great and amazing. I had onion soup, watermelon salad, 14oz steak, couple of drinks and sundae. I feel I was so lucky to find this restaurant at the end.

This is a favorite, special-occasion destination for us. This time we were celebrating a birthday. Reservations are recommended because the place is pretty much always busy. And if you book fast enough in advance, you can get “Walt’s table” where Walt Disney would frequently dine. This time, we selected the bone-in ribeye and the California City prime rib. Both prepared expertly and delicious!!

Just Plain Awful, Avoid Like the Plague! My family has been coming here for 6 generations (since their opening) so we know what we are talking about. To start, the beer was warm and flat, the martini was made with the wrong brand of gin and it was dirty without request. The irish mule was undrinkable and had to be replaced with a different drink all together. The Rarebit was grainy and lacking any substantial flavor. The watermelon in the watermelon salad was bitter and unripe AF. The mains were awful as well. The fish for the fish and chips were the size of chicken nuggets and completely overcooked. The "prime rib" was obviously pot roast (we ordered an end cut so I suspect they thought we couldn't tell the difference). The Mashed potatoes and gravy both tasted instant, watery and were a miniscule serving. The creamed spinach was dry, overcooked and tasted like alfalfa. The Caesar with crunchy chicken was dry. The salmon was dry and overcooked. We were so fed up at this point we just resigned ourselves to the fact that this place is obviously riding the coat tails of its formerly glamorous self while driving it's reputation to the ground. Don't fall for the history of this place, it's not at all like it's been for the previous century. We are sad to say we will never visit again, it truly was just that awful.

I really wanted to like this place, but I guess I expected too much. Best part was the food, though. This has been here for a long time, and the side felt that way too. The place just didn't feel special, as you can tell with their staff's dress code and the decor. Maybe it is the sign of the times as their Lawry's in Beverly Hills has also lost their elegance. Then, the treatment was not the same for everyone. I saw ourselves not given the help as others. No biggie, except I noticed it which is bad. P

saw this place on social media? Went to disneyland this weekend and decided to check this place out. The service was amazing. There's every conceivable whisky available and they make good drinks too. We all had various cuts of the prime rib. This was the most delicious meal I have had and in contention for beating House of Prime rib in SF. The only thing lacking is the yorkshire pudding, but honestly I haven't found anyone who could accurately make one outside of England. This was a place where Walt Disney would come to eat regularly, so there is a historic table there. The decor may have inspired some of the cottages of Snow White and perhaps sleeping beauty. Quite the expensive ride at nearly $100 per person but we also splurged on a starter, four prime ribs, adult drinks and two whisky drams.

Stopped in for A $25 prime rib sandwich. There was so little meat on it. I was very surprised. I asked the waiter, who checked with the manager, who claimed they weigh the meat, and what I received was how they make it. All bun, little meat. Certainly not a $25 sandwich even with today’s inflation.

Bartender is outstanding. Waiter was spot on, attentive but not overly so. Prime rib was perfect. Very light meaning very high quality beef. Shepherd's pie was quite tasty. For California, burnt ends were very tasty, but would not be called burnt ends in Kansas City. Very tender chunks of beef with a good sauce, but no char I could discern. Still quite good and would recommend. Mashed potatoes and gravy were a hit. Creamed spinach was top notch. Chocolate souffle was good.

Tamil shanters has a good meat selection state selection. I should say, as for the sides. I would go to clermon's steakhouse for the sides. To get salad, you get cabbage with red wine vinegar cheese bread. Camel Shant's has very little selection for sides and the sourdough. Bread is freshly baked, so that's good. It's a very good place to eat

If you aren't going to Tam's during the Christmas season, you're missing out on your Christmas Carol fantasy. Period clad carolers take requests, cocktails are served in tea pots, the charm is endless. If you don't want to commit to a whole dinner situation, you can still feel the vibes by just going to the bar and having a tasty cocktail. It can get quite busy, so if you're dining make a reservation ahead of time, and if you're hitting the bar consider your timing.

I think it's long overdue for an update as to the diminished quality of service at the Tam O shanter. Since its closure during the pandemic, it has never returned to its former and original glory. First, long-time popular favorites were removed from the menu. The deviled eggs, and worse, the dessert souffle? One explanation I got was, "The new chef didn't think they were "Scottish" enough. But French Onion Soup is? The overworked wait staff cut down in number to a ridiculous TWO in the Pub on the busiest of Friday nights. The closure of the long-time favorite Sandwich Bar. One more position evaporated. Last but not least, the decline in food quality and the inconsistency of portions. Their famous peanut coleslaw is hit and miss. One night, you get good amounts of peanuts along with the original dressing. A few days later, 3 peanuts in the same side of slaw that tastes of vinegar and not much else. One lunch, I received a side of just shredded red cabbage. No peanuts whatsoever. Brisket Sandwichs seem to be made at the discretion of the cooks. At the same table, we had one brisket sandwich served with very little meat, barely lifting the top of the lesser quality kaiser roll they have started using. Yet the other sandwich had 3 times the meat. It was quite the discussion at the table. Finally, the Tams famous hot fudge sundae. It used to come in a tall, sundae glass filled to brim, ice cream peeking over the top. Now, in much shallower dessert cups with much less ice cream. And oh yes, all this is yours at a substantial price increase. Yep, there are fewer options. Less food. Less service, yet we are charged higher prices for the name on the door. It's very hard for me to let lifelong, favorite places go... but I will no longer be recommending the Tam. I can't in good conscience. I've gone to the Tam for almost 65 years. They've shown no respect for their clientele. They could have done better.

I hear the food is really good and it is a lovely atmosphere. However, as an owner of a 300 year old half-timbered house in a town with lots of these houses, and a lover of this building style, the face of the building pains me greatly. What are some of those beams supposed to support? And if nothing, who would make such a messy decorative beam design? Why does America do this to us - oh, my heart.

Wanted to come on here and show some love for an awesome night. I love a place that is exactly what it’s meant to be. To me, Tam offers a historical story, great food, and casual high end service. Amaya was personable and the rest of our wait staff were attentive but not overly so. They allowed my friends and I to enjoy our meal from start to finish. Prince Charles was juicy with good flavor. The spinach was seasoned and not too creamy. You must get the brisket on with the gravy fries. The drink selection was top tier with a good selection of beers, spirits, and creations. I loved the Scottish pub feel, and the décor throughout was nice. I like that there's a plaque on Walt's favorite table, and while I didn't get to sit there, I did go look at it and get some pictures. The service was great, and our waitress, Missy, offered suggestions on what to order. I ordered the salmon, and my friend ordered the filet mignon. My salmon was cooked perfectly. We also each had the French onion soup for an appetizer. The soup was nice and hot, and the cheese melted perfectly on top. We also each had a cocktail, and they also had a nice flavor. We came here in a large group to celebrate my fiancé's birthday. Food was standard pub fare -- not bad, but nothing spectacular. Everyone had a good time overall. The hostess, however, was rude right off the bat. Based on recent reviews, I believe her name is Donna. I informed Donna we were down 1 guest; she appeared irritated and informed another FOH employee standing next to her, who rolled her eyes in response. My fiance and I have worked in the service industry before and we understand some days are hectic. It was a busy Friday night and busy nights can be stressful; we totally get it! That being said, we were surprised by the two FOH employees' behavior. It made us feel awkward and unwelcome. Been wanting to go here for some time and finally got to go- definitely worth it. Unlike some other steak restaurants, portions are extremely generous. Had the Tam O'Shanter cut (Prime Rib), Table 31 cocktail, and a wedge salad -everything was prepared perfectly and even the sides were out of this world. Didn't get to sit at Table 31, but will definitely be back and hopefully can snag that table then!

So charming and quaint. Excellent location, atmosphere, food, and service. Would’ve been nice to know ahead that all parking was valet only.

This is my daughter’s favourite restaurant so we went for her birthday. The service was excellent as always the sourdough bread they bring at the beginning was delicious, but I will be completely honest and say that my roast beef wasn’t as good as it normally is and everyone at the table agreed it was a little flat and flavourless.

I love this place as I did grow up going here and I really enjoy it. However, I would not go here with my family but I would go here with my friends. I last went last year and I had wished for a nice table but we weren’t given the nicer table we wished for for a birthday. Otherwise, the food was still awesome and everything was still very enjoyable.

Always a great experience. Unfortunately, we ordered Medium Rare, and the Prime Rib came very rare. Otherwise, it's always a treat to be there.
