We did a catering order from Tandoor Char House for my baby shower and it did not disappoint. Service was 10/10 Communication was on point & time! food was excellent! Everything tasted delicious. Fraz, Maggie and their team did a great job! Penna Tikka Masala was a HIT! Quality and quantity was perfect. I definitely recommend!

Visited here twice and had a great experience both times. Food was great and Maggie took good care of us. We'll be back!!

Tandor Char House in Chicago is a fantastic spot for those craving flavorful grilled dishes with a blend of Indian and Pakistani influences. The Tandoori chicken and lamb chops are standout items, cooked to perfection in a traditional clay oven. Vegetarian options like Paneer Tikka are also excellent. The warm, modern ambiance makes it a great place for a memorable dining experience.

This is an amazing restaurant. We had the mixed platter, chicken, beef, and lamb. Chicken tikka masala, and the ice cream. It’s so good. I highly recommend if you want an Indian Pakistan fusion that is out of this world.

COME THROUGH CHICAGO INDIAN FOOD SCENE! Tandoor is a stop that should be on your list if you love Indian food. The location on Halsted has select $5 appetizers, Mon - Wednesday and they include Samosas (2), Chaat fries or Pakoras, which are fritters that are deep fried to a golden brown. The samosas are huge! The vegetable Samosa was packed with so much flavor and the sauce that came for dipping made it even better! I’m used to getting samosas that have just a little bit of filling or have a crust that isn’t the most appetizing. These were the complete opposite! If I have to suggest anything - it’s definitely the Murg Malai. It’s huge and can feed two people honestly. And the flavors? So tasty!!!! Everything is brought out sizzling! The veggies are fresh and the meat has been marinating for 24 hours before being cooked fresh. Those flavors are Poppin! Stop by to try something off of their delicious menu and tell em that Bri from Planes and Plates sent you!

Hi me and my husband dined in recently and for what i can say it was amazing! We really loved the service. Our server was Arnold. He was the best! Then Fazeela who was hosting was really sweet as well. They both checked in often and made sure our dine in experience was perfect. And the food omg, the chicken tikka masala was amazing and that naan was delicious. We loved the strawberry mango lassi as well and the mango cheesecake. We have ordered take out so many times from here and finally checked out the dine in and the new renovations looked so good! Definitely come try it out!

I never write reviews but the experience was amazing. Effrem and Emma provided great service and the food was delicious! Best time to go on weekends to enjoy great family fun and amazing food! Also, they will be coming out with delicious mocktails soon that I will be there to enjoy 😉

Wonderful food as usual. The spice levels are perfect for my tastes, and the menu has many options. Being BYOB it is also a good value. The friendly staff got one part of the order wrong but graciously and quickly rectified the situation.

Ordered tandoori kebabs- malai chicken and lamb boti kabab through delivery. Terrible food. The meat did not have any spices and the lamb was burnt and tasted bitter. Worst tandoori kebabs we have ever had.

This place makes sure that you are FED. Delicious and full of flavor, and they give a very generous amount of food and garnishes.

Food was just okay overall. Masala fries were good. Empanadas shell was stale tasting and on the inside the cheese did not go well with the tandoori chicken. Tacos were overly saucy.

The mixed grill was great but I am not sure why the papadums are over cooked most of the time- I asked the waiter for some that were not burnt and I got a batch more burnt than the previous one. There was one server for 4 tables while I was there, poor guy- that also meant service was very slow. Again, food was overall great but the service is better when the chef/owner is present.

I have only had the opportunity to order take-out from this restaurant but the food has been amazing! I have never been disappointed and am always satisfied and left with left over food. I have ordered from them several times over the last two years and have introduced many of my friends to this restaurant.

The host is amazing! Super knowledgeable and friendly. The restaurant was recently renovated and the vibes are great. I had the ribeye steak and it was perfectly seasoned. My wife had the seekh kabob wrap, she said it's one of her favorites. We topped it off with the mango cheesecake dessert, absolutely delicious! I also always get the achar on the side, it adds a nice kick. All in all, great experience and we'll be back again soon.

Always enjoy the food! Happy they're open for dining in again. The lamb saag was great and the cheesy naan is always good. Will be heading back again soon!

Food was amazing, I ordered the chef’s grill special and butter chicken… my kids absolutely loved it. It is hard to find a Pakistani/Indian restaurant that has “balanced” spices that is kid-friendly :) love it, and my kids definitely want to go again!

The tandoori chicken empanadas were both creative and delicious, and the accompanying tikka masala sauce raised them to the next level. Went to the restaurant for a celebration. Food was great, ordered the samosas, tandoor mix grill platter, and mutter paneer. Large quantities! Eric was a great server! Very excited about the reopen and asked us different questions about the dishes we were served. The pacing was great we were never overwhelmed with food or waiting long. We had a champagne bottle and Eric offered to keep it in the back fridge to keep it cool, BYOB.

Restaurant was empty. Service and hospitality was great. I ordered Lamb Masala and the lamb was poor quality, spongy texture unlike any lamb I have had anywhere. Sauce was very salty, I ate one bite only.. Also ordered the garlic Naan which was Naan with garlic powder. I have always had this as roasted garlic cloves within the bread. This was rated 4.6 and the food was nowhere near earning that rating. Will not return here.

So good and tasty. Authentic and delicious. Only downside was we did t realize there’s no alcohol. W e would have brought our own had we known.

On pay day, I usually treat myself to their rib-eye, which is absolutely delicious! I've lost count of how many times I've dined here, and each visit leaves me wanting more. The ambiance is cozy and inviting, making it the perfect spot to unwind after a busy day. Whether you're an office manager like myself at the Chicago Real Estate Institute or just someone looking for a dining experience, I highly recommend Tandoor Char House. Trust me; it's worth it!

I reviewed this place a few months back, and management contacted me to email them. I sent email and never received a response. DO NOT ORDER FROM THIS PLACE ITS OVERCOOKED, And OVERPRICED . There are better indian/pakistani restaurants you can order from. The owner and chefs for this place should not be in business. Ban this place.

This food is MUY BUENO. Unique well prepared dishes. The one thing that got me was the unheard of spiciness in this universe. My friends and I thought we were some spicy high rollers and were ballin straight tears in this fine dining environment. We were like camels. AND THAT WAS MEDIUM. There's two more LEVELS of hotness: hot and SPICY. Turns out we weren't even in spicy land. Just some weenie hut junior baby sauce land I suppose. You ain't got no taste buds no more if you're eatin spicy. Really fantastic meal tho.

I’ve been here several times. If you’re ok with a small hole in the wall with literally one server but are also looking for one of the best Pakistani/Indian food you’ll ever eat…this is your place. I can’t stress enough how good ALL the food at this place is. And you’ll be surprised with how low your bill will be. BYOB too.

I ordered delivery for Restaurant Week. The samosa, butter chicken, lamb karai, and saag paneer lacked the intense masala flavorings one expects in a good curry. The saag had more tomato than saag, and the curries were a bit on the watery side. The wings were sweet and only three came in an order. It seems they cater to Western taste buds, but it's just not my preference. On a positive note, their mango cheesecake was delicious.

Ordered during restaurant week. Absolutely bland, watery and disgusting. I can understand they are trying to give the non indian people a bit of taste of India (just a hint) but my request to the owners is..please be transparent and call out loud and clear to Indian clients or people who want real taste of India, that - "hey, this is not what you are expecting in the name of Indian food. Please stay away and save your money!!"

After ordering takeout from this place regularly for at least a couple years, this place has taken a turn for the worse. It started with an order where the chutney sent was totally spoiled. The sweet, tangy chutney was RANCID. Fermented to the point the plastic container audibly sighed as I took the top off. Again, having ordered from them many many many times, I called the restaurant to let them know they were sending out spoiled chutney. The guy was apologetic and promised a full refund which was a nice gesture—it also never came. Ok, not going to crucify you for not refunding an order over one item even though it was disgusting and made me spit out my food. But don’t say you’re going to do something and then not do it… The worst part is I tried them a few more times since then and EACH TIME the chutney has arrived the same. Foul smelling and spoiled. Seriously disgusting and unbelievable that it continued to occur. What the hell is going on with food storage? In addition to this, my husband said that their chicken the past few times was just simply not as good. So disappointing from a place we exclusively ordered our Indian from. Never again!

We ordered a large catering order for a party a few weeks ago. The food was absolutely delicious. Special thanks to the chef for recommending the samosas, they were excellent. The gulab jamun and mango kulfi were a hit with our guests. Great service, we’ll come back for sure!

Second time in and it was incredible again. The tandoor items are a must…the Mahi Mahi was our favorite. Every dish we had was so flavorful. Excellent staff/service and BYOB. Good music choices as well Cannot recommend Tandoor enough for dine in and or take out!

We have been coming here for years and have always loved it. However it seems over the last couple of years, the quality of the food has gone down. The place is pricey which we were never bothered by because of the great food quality and the zabiha halal options. Now, the food isn't worth the price anymore. It's still good, but not great and it makes us disappointed. Worth a try if you are looking for a good fancy Indian restaurant or a fusion restaurant but expect to pay a decent amount for food that isn't worth the hefty price tag.

Very happy to have discovered this zabiha halal gem. The food was delicious, we enjoyed everything we tried. Everything was very flavorful. They give you spice level options for your dishes so everyone’s taste can be accommodated. The portions were very very large and generous, you will definitely have leftovers. Service was really really great. We would definitely come here again. The atmosphere is simple sit-down with some candlelight and dim lights, pretty simple, nothing special. Only thing I would mention is the area downstairs where the restrooms are is dark and dirty. Overall delicious restaurant and will definitely come back!

Went there at the Taco Fest and ordered the Naan Burrito for 14,50 $ !!! It was the worst „Burrito“ we ever had. Most of it was only onions… we throw half of it away because it was not delicious and totally overpriced! 👎🏼

The staff and servers were really 5 star, very attentive and helpful, not rushed. The food was good other than the papadum, it was not at all crunchy. The chutneys were tasty, the mango lassi was absolutely delicious, the portions were huge. We did not realize they were BYOB, would have preferred to know in advance. The restaurant itself could use a bit of an upgrade. Overall if you want great service, huge portions and a wide menu variety, this is your spot.

We ordered biryani and palak paneer. Despite the restaurant being empty, it took over an hour for the food to arrive at our table. The palak paneer was way too greasy and pretty chunky. It didn't taste very good. The biryani was a little more palatable.

I read all of the reviews about how great the food was, but nobody mentioned that it was a BYOB. Luckily there is a wine and beer store at the end of the block if you want to stop by there before your reservation. They have a $5 cork fee. As for the food, I really enjoyed the Shrimp Pakora. The lamb in the Boneless Lamb Biryani was seasoned well, but the rice on top was cold. They give a little rice to accompany the Lamb Saag; however, the dish was still good. I would go back and if you are in the neighborhood I would recommend trying them out. The serving staff was really friendly.

Okra had way too much tomato sauce and chicken saag didnt have the right spice bland. Spinach needed to be blended better. Tamarind chicken wings was too sour-needed some sweetness.

Every single item on the menu is amazing! But Chef Faraaz is always a pleasure to work with - whether it’s catering or dining in with a large group. I worked with him to coordinate events for a student organization and he not only is responsive but a great supporter in making sure we know our experience is valued. Additionally his staff - Arnold and Ashley are so kind, efficient, and made sure to take care of everything when we visited!

This a long one so please read on. I'll start with the good The service was great The portion sizes are large The cook on the steak was accurate All in all The food was okay at best. (5/10) On to the bad Honestly the steak at char house was the tastiest thing on the table. But that isn't saying a lot. The meat of the ribeye was choice grade at best but they did get the cook correct so plus points there. I do see now why there aren't prices on the menu that the qr code takes you to because it really isn't worth it. There was a lack of seasoning which makes me think that the kitchen was afraid of using any. Almost all the food we had was nowhere near how it was described on the menu. This is one of those places that has the same base for all their curries. The food We started off the experience with stale Papadum which is an Indian crisp and a side of chutneys which tasted watered down. The chutneys lacked any prominent flavors and they tasted the same if you ate them with your eyes closed, the only thing that set them apart was their color. The achar was definitely not made in house but store bought it actually tasted mass produced. TLDR- the amount of food you get is good but the quality is trash. If you're looking for flavorful food give this place a hard pass. Especially given how expensive it is. It seems like they are afraid of using spices and seasoning. The apps The wings (7/10) - full wings. only 3 pieces tho (technically 6, 3-flats 3-drums) small but the sauce was good but definitely not worth $9. The ceviche (2/10)- it lacked flavor and it really should not be served on a crisp. All the moisture was absorbed by the crisp and what was left was a very dry pile of shrimp and fish. There was no seasoning at all. The seasoned masala fries. - (8/10) seasoned fries which is the most seasoning we experienced the entire night. On to the entree's The Ribeye steak (7/10)- the steaks lacked seasoning. We needed to ask for salt and pepper. The saving grace was that they cooked it to the correct temp, And how much it was. The assorted grill (3/10) The meat was dry and hard to chew and actually tasted like cheap cuts on the discount rack at a supermarket. Something a desperate broke college student would buy. The penne tikka masala. (3/10) It was definitely not Tikka masala but closer to butter masala. On the sweeter side. The pasta was over cooked. The Murg Malai (4/10) the cook was good but severely any lacked flavor. The rice. (1/10) Plain almost dry rice no flavor at all. The desserts. Ice creams (8/10) this felt like the saving grace to an otherwise underwhelming experience. The mango lassi chase cake. (9/10) This was good it probably was the only thing that tasted like its description from the menu. The mango lassi (2/10). Was more tart than sweet. It tasted as if all they did was mix Generic plain yoghurt and mango pulp which was stirred by a spoon the consistency was slightly chunky. The masala chai (1/10) watered down Lipton tea with barely any masala.
