Hands down best Mexican food. Their beans are amazing, and I normally don't like beans. My son absolutely loved the chicken quesadilla. He is a hard one to please with food. The chips and queso are so good that you can't stop eating them. 10/10 would recommend trying the steak burrito, absolute perfection.

I always leave this place a happier person.

I had an avocado tip in my salad that I actually bit down on. It was very hard and hurt my teeth for a few days. The male manager was super rude straight out the gate like I placed the thing in my food. The last picture is the plate he replaced my original plate with. I want be back and I will tell anyone going DON'T!!! The manager could have owned the mistake. It wasn't my fault.

Great authentic Mexican restaurant.

I ordered a beef broth and a ceviche and I can't believe that someone can cook so horrible, the broth is very sweet and the ceviche is not to mention all sweet, how disgusting the truth is.

Chips and queso was not as good as other places. Service was horrible. I never was even asked if I'd like a refill as my drink was empty half way through. Fajitas were very good. Kinda a gloomy restaurant. If I were to come back, it would be for Fajitas to go.

This is a small place and the atmosphere isn’t much to talk about but the food is amazing so nothing else matters! Most of our group had tacos that were delicious, lots of choices in proteins. I had a chimichanga and it was on par with my favorite place at home. Prices are very reasonable and the staff was very nice and attentive. (One note if you’re going, the salsa is spicy!!)

I encountered rude staff and experienced an excessively long wait for my order. As a DoorDash driver, I'll be steering clear of this place from now on.

Great Mexican food and affordable price. Also, they seasoned their food was not bland like at most other Mexican restaurants. It is worth the drive down here. Also it’s parking is not that hard to find. i’d recommend you try their burritos, especially with the meat al Pastore I mean it was very juicy which is a good thing. Just don’t eat too much. It will not sit right with you.

I was a little nervous because there was only one other customer. Our server was very nice. Chips and salsa were good. I got the enchiladas. Two pork and two cheese with green salsa. It came with all the fixins. Pork was seasoned to perfection and my guests also loved it. It definitely got busier the longer we were there.

Try the al pastor tacos! Probably the best in town!

They didn't seem to have anything together. They must of loss their liquor license because even though they advertise beer and margaritas we couldn't get anything because the lady said no license. Then we ordered our food and it wasn't even what I ordered but still ate it anyways. Rice had no flavor until I added the hot sauce and the beans were cold.

If I could’ve given zero stars, I would’ve for customer service. Dealt with a bigger, younger lady, Who is very very disrespectful 100% classless and needs to learn proper customer service. I’ve spoken with her on the phone on many occasions and she is rude every time maybe consider hiring somebody else because she has lost You good business. I always treat others with respect because you never know what people can be going through, but she is by far the most abominable human being I’ve ever dealt with.

Salsa and service was good. Not a complaint but I will never understand why shrimp in Fajitas still has the tail on...l will go back because it was good but I will request tail removal on the shrimp. I can remove it myself but it's just a little messy. It's good though

Ever since Yesnia left the customer service has completely gone down hill. She carried the restaurant. After years of coming here 3/4 times weekly I will not returning.

The best breakfast burrito you will ever find. EVER! Also was in Monday night and they made us the best eggs with chorizo and cheese ever! Also the guacamole was top notch. I placed my order at 820 she said 15 min. It ended up being 25 which is no big deal. Then I found out they ran out of eggs and had to go get some! That's why the extra 10 min. As good as these eggs and chorizo were they can run out anytime 😊 Thanks for going to get the ingredients to make our food instead of just saying you were out. You guys rock and that's why we've been eating here for almost 20 years! You can't beat this great family owned and run restaurant. One of the best 👌

I’m an uber driver, used to come here, will never again after picking up the chick who works the front most often. Her name is Lizeth. I was kind, each time she was rude. She took like 6 minutes to put on a seatbelt and ignored my request the first time. Then proceeded to scratch my seats in an attempt to damage them. I’ve contacted uber to charge her. She was very rude, and disrespectful. My car is. 2024. I will #1 never go here again. #2 be telling my friends who go here, about my experience and to spend their money elsewhere. They will. #3 I’d like to contact the General Manager about this experience. You may have not been at work, but outside of work you should also treat people the way you wish to be treated. Don’t do this to others. Like ever. In regard to the food? Appetizers and dip / chips extremely overpriced. New prices have been added despite menu not updated. The food is pretty good but not special by any means. Tony’s tacos is certainly better. However the hey have pretty good Flautas and rice. I would eat there if I was hungry. Though after this experience I certainly will not be. This is a small town Lizeth. Customer was rated 2 ⭐️ on my system unpairing us, and lowering her score. Uber has reached out to me to hear my side. This is my review thanks.

Definitely overrated. Bad customer service/communication. Order over the phone and the person seemed bored, a bit annoyed and like you are putting them out with the call. She didn’t even ask me my name or phone number. Her tone just made me feel awkward. The rice was good but not anything out of the ordinary. Beans were fine/good enough but runny/watery. The green enchiladas were good but again not spectacular or anything. Horchata was good. They are over priced and over hyped. I order flan with extra caramel. When I get there and noticed there was no flan they said they never had flan and showed me the itemized receipt. They charged me for extra crema instead. They gave me back the money on that but I said whoever answered the phone took my order of flan and didn’t say anything. They just repeated they never had flan.

The quality of their food has gone down and their service is terrible! SAVE YOUR MONEY. Eat elsewhere. I ordered 3 steak tacos and they “were out of” cilantro but they never told me when I placed my order. What’s tacos without cilantro? There isn’t. Don’t be disappointed.

My family loves this place when we travel to Bloomington normal. There are tons of chain options and large restaurants to choose from but the small family Mexican restaurant is amazing.

Porton is our favorite -it’s a week night and we need someone else to cook for us- place. They are delicious, dependable, and always serve with a smile. We love the steak burrito and a the fajita quesadillas. Large horchata to wash it down and don’t forget to get red AND green sauces! I’m not sure we’ve ever eaten in the restaurant but I will keep picking up my dinner as long as they’ll let me. THANK YOU EL PORTON ❤️

Holy Mexican food! The BEST Mexican food I have ever tried in my life! Fresh, simple, delicious. The service was outstanding; our waitress was the sweetest human on the planet. Will be back for sure. This place is 2.5 hrs from where I live, but the food is worth the drive.

We are verrry particular with authentic Mexican food. I want to say this is one of the most delicious and authentic restaurants in Central Illinois. The waiters were very attentive despite of how packed the place was! We loved absolutely everything we ate and are willing to drive an hour to be back!

I’ve tried all of the “Mexican” restaurant here in town and as someone who lives in chicago and gets to taste actual authentic Mexican food, this restaurant is by far the best place for Mexican food in town! Other places I feel are more hyped up because college students don’t have actual taste buds and will eat anything as long as they have margaritas with it, but if you are wondering on a location to taste great Mexican food!! This is it!! Not to mention the salsas are actually spicy! For those who can tolerate it!! The horchata is great! And their micheladas really cured my hangover, IYKYK! Over all the staff is amazing! Very sweet people and very professional! It’s the only spot I go to for when ever I’m craving some tacos! Took my Mexican parents here once and they loved it! So 10/10!! Would definitely recommend this place!

I think this place is better for carryout orders. The food was super delish and portions were big. I had steak nachos and a lengua taco, my husband had a chicken quesadilla and chicken chimichanga. We will do carryout here.

Flavor was there but my short ribs were so bad. Not even edible. I had to toss them. Couldn’t even chew them.

It's great but I'm not a fan of the qr phone menu. I went with a friend that had poor eyesight. He had a very difficult time with the menu having to zoom and scroll about.

Would gladly come back for the food. Waited a while for our check, and had to flag down our waitress for help. Paying was just pretty unclear.

Terrible experience I didn’t even bother to sit down at this terrible establishment. I placed a to go order 30 minutes ahead of time and I get there and I get it if you’re busy that’s one thing but to blatantly have a customer standing there For an extended period of time is ridiculous I waited an hour for food there I ordered 30 minutes ahead of time that makes no sense. On top of that when I got to the store my food was ready and I was given a nasty attitude from both of the waitresses because they were busy that does not mean you get to be nasty people

I can’t speak for authenticity but I can say that we had a very tasty and hot meal on our visit to Bloomington today. The salsa was very nicely flavored (my wife thought it was spicy but I loved it); the guacamole was more her taste. As soon as I saw that they offered cow tongue I knew I was going to get that. I had the cow tongue burrito and the meat was cooked PERFECTLY and was very flavorful. My wife had the fish tacos and she liked them a lot. Our toddler enjoyed picking apart the tacos, and I had the other one (beef) and it was very good. The service was great as well. Whenever we come back through town we will be 100% be back here!

My fiancé and I enjoyed your food very much. We got the steak fajita burrito and some steak gorditas and they were delicious and filling... the wait for the food was a bit long, but we had no idea they did carry out, now that we know we will call ahead and get our delicious meal that way.

Don’t let anyone fool you about being authentic Mexican food. I’d rather eat at Taco Bell or chipotle cause they’re more authentic. Very flavorless and just prepared awful. And don’t try ordering a margarita cause all they have is canned margaritas for $6.50 which isn’t good. I ordered the fajitas triple and everything was undercooked but the steak but still no flavor like everything else. The have canned refried beans and bagged tortillas chips. No kids menu and their soft drinks are very watered down.

Didnt tell the person checking out before me it was cash only, until he had ate his meal and was trying to pay. Failed to tell me on the phone it was cash only at the time. Asked me to find nearby ATM.

We are visiting Normal/Bloomington and looked up the options for the best Mexican restaurant in the area. We picked this place as it had good ratings. We are vegetarian and our son is vegan. There were not much vegetarian options on the menu so we spoke to the attendant who gave us over half a dozen options and the food was served quickly. The flavor was authentic and ingredients were fresh. We enjoyed our meal and will recommended it to anyone who is looking for tasty and fresh Mexican food in the area. I am sure their non-vegetarian food is as good. The staff was very cooperative and everyone we met, looked very happy. I am sure rhey are well taken care of by the owners.

Small diner, very basic and unassuming, the type of place we prefer. Service was very good. Tortilla chips served right away with fresh salsa (hot and spicy). Chicken flautas were okay and chicken tortas was really good. Refried beans were bland and watery. They serve beer, no wine, and margaritas in a can.

This is probably one of the best Mexican restaurants in the nation.

This is the midwest equivalent of robertos ( west coast). The breakfast burrito was really good and the Carne Asada was cooked perfectly! The salsa was way too spicy for me but my husband said it was fire!

Tacos were good, I thought the pastor was the best. Salsa was good, pretty spicy. The chips didn’t taste very good.

Best tortas and overall Mexican food in Bloomington Normal. Fresh and I really mean always fresh and homemade. Aguas frescas = refreshing water based drinks like Horchata, Jamaica and agua de tamarindo. So fire and the girls in the front are awesome!

If you think Taco Bell is Mexican food you are not going to like this place. Real food, real meat, authentic, and very tasty.
