Love Tarntip. The food is really good. The best Thai food in Fredericksburg.

Well, I am a poor judge of "atmosphere". This is a lovely quiet place to eat wonderful food. I had my fav...Tofu Pad Thai...spicy! Tarnip Thai offers 5 levels of heat. I chose 4 and it was very nice. I will try 5 next time to set my preference.

We get take out often from here and it's always delicious. The spice level is on point.

The food there is great, my only problem was when my husband ordered angel wings for an appetizer from the menu, it doesn't say the amount of wings you are getting so for the price of $8.99, you would think you'd receive at least 6 or 8 pieces but instead, we were were served only 4 pieces totalling of 2 whole wings (2 drumettes & 2 wingettes. $2.00 per piece lol Ridiculous. The appetizers cost almost as much as a meal and you don't get much at all. I do not recommend ordering appetizers.

The food is alright, but the service sucks. Every time I go to pick up food the women there are so unprofessional. Are they only rude to CERTAIN people or is it everyone?! I know they won't miss my money, but I'm never going back.

For $48 the food was horrible. I would never order from them again. The rice supposed to been spicy. It was not spicy at all. The salad was horrible. The dumplings was horrible. I would never order for them again.

Spring Rolls, Fried Asparagus along with our entrees were excellent! Every dish was very flavorful and delicious I have no complaints when it comes to the taste, but when it comes to the quantity/amount of food served I would have to say it leans towards the lesser amount.

Literally four pieces of beef on the Chilli basil beef we got talked to the owner and the owner was saying how prices of beef went up that was the excuse like what!? I paid $18 for 4 pieces of beef thinly sliced dont order extra either will get charged but nothing extra will be there. I don't like going here they are very stingy with portions but charges a lot. Foods ok

DISAPPOINTED!!. I used to eat here fairly regularly but it has been a while since my last meal there because another Thai place is on my way home from work. After about a year or so, I decided to try this old favorite again. So, I called in an order to pick up for the wife and myself. I was told to pick it up in 25 minutes. I drove over and waited 30 mins and had stand there to wait another 15 minutes inside because it wasnt ready. Sadly now, they only do take out and delivery services. The tables are all empty with barstools blocking entry to them. The tv was blaring in the back corner. So what else has changed? Prices are much higher and portions are quite honestly a joke. An order of thai chicken wings used to be 6, now it's 4? My dinner only 1/2 filled the to-go tray and weighed only 8.4 oz on the scale. I was so stunned at the portion size, I took pictures with my phone. Was this someone else's leftovers?! My wifes Pad Thai really lacked any ingredients other than noodles. Maybe 4 nickel sized pieces of chicken a few shreds of carrot. They charged extra for the cup of rice I asked for AND for the tiny container of fish sauce most places have out on the table! The flavors of my dish were mediocre at best: extremely salty, and with only a few sad, stringy basil leaves floating in the brown, soupy sauce. The aromatic punch we expect from Thai cuisine was all but absent. The expensive cup of rice helped soak up the soup/sauce but by itself it tasted of... was it kitchen bouquet? The wife's pad thai at least partially filled the container but with so little ingredients other than the noodles it couldn't be confused with a meal. So what about the sugary-vinegary, and crunchy peanut flavors? Well, there really weren't any. There was so little effort put into this dish, and such a small hint of flavors that even the Prik Nam Pla couldn't help it do anything but make it more salty. Think of a container of dry rice noodles that taste for all the world like foam packing peanuts. We would have to eat again after the disappointing meal, before we went to bed. I was tempted to grab a can of coconut milk, and chicken breasts and green curry paste from the freezer but thought that would just add insult to injury. So, sadly I can't recommend Tarntip to anyone right now. I don't know what is going on but at $60 for 2 take out dinners with tip, this was a waste of money. I often think about how long and how much work I put in to make the money I pay for things. Here, I put in alot more work than Tarntip did and I don't think I'll be going back.

Never had a massaman curry I didn’t like. :( I asked for it Thai spicy, with tofu and veggies. It had no heat to it, no veggies, and just tasted incredibly bland. Used to love this place but this was a huge disappointment. Staff was great, extremely friendly.

Ordered pad Thai via DoorDash today. There was literally ZERO taste. Zero spice, there was literally no seasoning. Absolutely disgusting.

It has been awhile since I had Thai food since my local place closed and have been craving good drunken noodles. Found this place on Google placed my order online walked in before it said it would be ready and they were bagging it up and Tarntip exceeded my expectations it was so good! Can't wait to go back again!

Great locally owned Thai restaurant. It's impeccably clean and the owners are often your servers. Friendly people, good location, great food!

We have eaten here for years and the food has been delicious every time. Appetizers, pad thai, panang curry are the usual courses we go for. Also love their thai iced tea and a custard sticky rice for dessert. They’ve never screwed up our order and food is made quick for carryout. You’ll want to keep coming back to try new foods!

Last night, I had dinner at this incredible Thai restaurant and was thoroughly impressed by the quality of food and service. The food was absolutely delicious, bursting with flavor and expertly prepared. What truly set this dining experience apart, however, was the wonderful service provided by our waitress. She was attentive, knowledgeable, and went out of her way to ensure our visit was enjoyable. From offering excellent recommendations to checking in to ensure our satisfaction, her attention to detail was impeccable. Her friendly demeanor and kind disposition helped make our dining experience truly delightful. I highly recommend this restaurant for anyone in search of a great meal with outstanding service.

Delicious 😋 great portions and very timely service

I got the chicken pad Thai and crab cream cheese wontons. While I did like both of them a downfall is that the chicken is terribly dry... And there isn't much chicken to begin with with CHICKEN pad thai. I've had the shrimp pad Thai before which was better since it wasn't dry. But I could've gone to super Rico off route 3 and gotten a WHOLE chicken with FOUR sides for the prices I paid for a sub par drunken noodle, pad Thai, and wontons.($43 with the tip....)

Excellent drunken noodles with tofu, maybe the best drunken noodles I've had. I asked for "4" heat and maybe got "3", which, granted, was hot enough. My husband got the entrée with all the string beans, can't remember what it's called, pad prik king maybe, anyway it was perfect too. This place gets 5 stars because the food was fantastic. The restaurant is modest. The wine/beer list could be improved, but I couldn't be happier with my meal. Yumsters! We are only in Fredericksburg for a week but we plan to go back. I'd like to try their panang curry.

went here for lunch on a tuesday and the food was great! it wasn’t busy at all and the food came out in a timely manner. the tilapia was crispy with an amazing sauce. the pad thai was flavorful and had a good ratio of noodles to chicken. the papaya salad was good but i wish they had the option to make it spicy for you. the soup was also good. overall, highly recommend

Protein portions are non existent ordered beef basil there was 4 thinly sliced beef next time I order with extra meat and was also 4 thinly sliced beef I mean asked why the guy said prices of beef is high lol for this guy it's always gonna be high. I would say it's expensive and the guys seems cheap about his proteins so I'll be going to Bangkok cafe down the street. I mean it's a small time mom and pop shop I understand they have to scrape for everything they can get but still that's being very skimpy and soo is the other guys down the street and they all ways give good portions of protein. And the taste of the food is nothing special just like any other Thai place.

This is one of my favorite places in town. The foods and the owners and staff are so welcoming and I'm thankful they have stayed here. Rama Chicken and Drunken Noodles are my go tos!

Food is usually on point but tonight the Pad Thai was terrible. The noodles were over cooked and the sauce was tasteless. Apps were good but overall really disappointed.

First time ordering: tried an assortment of the appetizers, wonton soup, and a traditional shrimp pad Thai. It was delivered in well packaged containers to ensure freshness and heat was retained. The wonton soup is fantastic. No heavy wontons absent all meat and seasoning floating sadly in excessive salt water - these are light wontons with ample filling in a nice broth full of flavor and seasoning. The appetizers were great. Fried asparagus was crunchy and tasty, the springrolls well proportioned and not greasy or heavy. The dumplings are large. The pad thai was very traditional, nothing but good tasting and nicely prepared. I will order from here again and recommend it.

I would drink the panang curry by itself out of a straw, it was that good ♥️.

After hearing soooo many positive reviews about this Thai restaurant on a local social media group page, we decided to give it a try on a Wednesday for lunch. Upon checking their website, we learned they opened at 11:30AM and got there at 11:47AM and noticed the “open” side wasn’t lit. The door was unlocked and when we opened it, the lady inside said they weren’t open yet. We pointed to the “hours” sign on the door that said they opened at 11:30 and she said we could come in and sit in a booth. From there on, service was decent, but far from good or great! Another concern was had was noticing their menu had a Japanese section. Sorry, but if it’s TRULY a good Thai joint, they aren’t offering Chinese, Japanese, Sushi, etc, unless they have all those chefs in the back and this little “mom & pop” place clearly didn’t. We ordered Larb Gai to start… It came out pretty quickly and it was loaded with a darker sauce than we were used to and the chicken was in bigger chunks than the typical minced, steamed chicken that come on Larb Gai… it also had carrots on it, something I’ve never seen before and can’t say if that’s authentic or not. Upon tasting it, the chicken was stir fried and was the same chicken they would use in lettuce wraps – definitely NOT the chicken that supposed to be in this dish. There was little spice to is at all, whereas most Larb Gai is pretty spicy and has two types of onions in it. It did have an abundance of cilantro, which was nice as this was the only flavor that we recognized to be in this dish. For lunch, we went wish three entrées: *Pad Prik King with chicken – The sauce was nearly spot on what it should be, slightly thinned out and the entire dish had a lot of sauce to it, which was fine, considering the flavor was pretty good. The chicken on the other hand looked like white meat, but had the “gamey” flavor like boiled dark meat – wasn’t very tasty. The green beans in it were decent. *Pad Ka Pow with chicken – This was completely flavorless and the basil wasn’t fresh!! There was so much sauce, it was nearly soupy and the sauce was thin and flavorless. We were definitely able to taste the odd flavor of the chicken in this dish – not very appealing. *Thai Fried Rice with beef – This was excellent! Exactly what we like and tasted like it should… WHEW! Overall, we really can’t understand how this particular place is so popular… While we were there, many others walked in and the first two parties who walked in also arrived before noon, right after us and had to hear the lecture from the lady about them not being opened yet – poor! Out of all the Thai joints between Woodbridge and Fredericksburg, there are several that are MUCH better than what we experienced here today… We’d go to one of those and definitely wouldn’t return here.

My go to place for pad Thai, it’s always great and they offer tofu & vegetable pad Thai so it’s a good vegetarian option for me. I usually do pickup or delivery and it’s always fast.

i am new to Thai cuisine and after my meals here i'm hooked. I, so far, have only ordered take-out, but I've waited inside the restaurant for my order and everyone has been gracious. I am impressed with the flavors and textures of their creations. This is not your regular greasy take-out! I especially enjoyed the soups, the coconut milk based soup is divine!

Best thai in Fredericksburg in my humble opinion. Its located in a corner of a slightly sketchy retail center but dont be turned off. You're fine there. The food is excellent. I love it all. Pad prik king, mussaman, and chicken ginger are a few of my favorites.

We have been to Tarntip many times, never a disappointment. Very fresh and tasty. Some Restaurants use a lot of oil, Tarntip does not. Another reviewer said that the food was not spicy enough, like most Thai restaurants you can ask for the level of spice you want.

The fresh garden rolls were excellent and the pad Thai very good. You can tell it is all made fresh and with quality ingredients. Tasty!

We like the crab fried rice is good and the staff is really nice. We wish the Tom Yum soup was more Sour, because it taste more like lemon soup. But the pork dumplings are really good. We sure will come back since we are new to the area.

I love this place. The fresh rolls are delicious, kanom jeeb delicious and not full of filler, and the pad woon sen is always well balanced. Great prices and they deliver!

Tarn Tip Thai has THE BEST Pad Thai in the Fredericksburg Region!! We also order the crispy spring rolls which comes with a tangy sauce. You can get chicken or tofu in the Pad Thai. The staff are extremely friendly and in addition to dine in they offer take out and delivery.

I have been a customer at Tarntip for over ten years. I love their chicken satay, chicken pad Thai and the chicken pad see ew. I don't deviate from my normal order so I can't speak about other items on the menu but this is definitely my go to Thai place in town.

Absolutely amazing! STRONGLY recommend. I go about once or twice a month and it is by far some of the best meals. My favorite is the Fried Rice with Chicken.

I have been dining here at the Thai food restaurant for 10 plus years now " BEST MEAL I EVER HAD IN MY LIFE"

So I go here once a week. I usually get what ever is on special, particularly one of their curries. I always hope to catch the Paht Thai special day, but alas, rarely do. The worst part about this place is when they have two great specials on the same day. In that case, I've actually been known to get both. They have solid GF options if that's important to you as well. They jacked the prices a little this year (and last), but I suppose they had good reason for that.

Okay Thai food. Not great, but certainly not bad, either. Best part is the quick service and delivery. They're usually busy with takeout orders, but the dining room is often mostly empty.

We love the curry and the dumplings are yummy! Order anything and you will be craving more Tarntip before you know it! It's our go to restaurant !

Don't let the location fool you in not dining here.The restaurant is in a plaza in the corner.The dining room was pleasant. Your usual Asian decor except they had a small amounts of all the spices they use in a frame.This was definitely a conversation piece.The server was attentive. We ordered our usual spring rolls veggie, beef pad thai and shrimp fried rice.The presentation was excellent. Garnished with string carrots,parsley and cucumbers.The serving sizes were a little smaller than usual.The food was tasty.They use Jasmine rice and serve their pad thai with crushed peanuts as the dishes were intended to be served. We had to ask for lime for the pad thai.This enhances the flavor.I mention all these things because if a restaurant is not doing these things for these dishes it's a sure sign they are skimping on materials to increase profits.The bathroom was spotless!I love when business pay attention to this very important place!Hence why they received 5 stars.We will go back when we are in the area.

Highly recommend this restaurant for delicious fresh food that leaves you very satisfied. Had the Hawaiian Rice with Chicken, vegetable spring rolls, and Pad Ka Pow( Basil Chicken). All were delicious! Comfortable restaurant in a small plaza , family friendly. A hidden gem!

My go-to place for Thai in Fredericksburg. Delivery is prompt if you don't want to go out. There is a $15 minimum for delivery though.

As always, the food was amazing. It's not like most places where everything is Americanized. The staff is very friendly, helpful and beautiful.
