5 stars all around. Perfect spot to celebrate our one year anniversary. The atmosphere was comfortable and cozy, and our waitress Melinda was really sweet and accommodating and friendly, and the food was 🔥🔥. We enjoyed the soup of the day, mushroom and gruyere, the sweet and smoky ribs were saucy and flavorful and fell off the bone with a little bit of char, the jerk shrimp was perfectly cooked and paired with sticky rice, the potato pancakes were yummy with a delicious apple chutney, and the peppercorn garlic steak bites were cooked perfectly with savory flavor. Check this place out! What are you waiting for? 😋

I'm from out of town the first time I went. It was so good we had to come back. The food drinks and service were great.

Just wanted to share dinner tonite was spot on! We arrived at 5:30 and only had a little wait. Katie B our server was great, she knows the menu and made some good recommendations. The food was good, service was great. If you're in town go there first.

We had such a great experience. The food was very delicious, and the staff were very friendly and professional. Our waiter was very patient with our kids and our group. I highly recommend!

Thank you Taste!! Hubby has a peanut allergy and staff told us chef has a kid with a peanut allergy so there are no peanuts in the kitchen! Delicious food and drinks. Being able to eat out safely is a huge gift to us. So glad to have gotten to dine with you- we will definitely be back.

Great place in South Haven to dine in. Great food and the drinks strong just how I like them. The waitress was very friendly and fun to talk to. A must try if you are on the area. Definitely will be back for the 3rd time. I got a slab of BBQ ribs and damn they were good. Slide off the bone.

Grab a seat at the bar if you can.. always great conversation with new friends. Oh yeah.. and definitely check out the chefs Mac and cheese. Unique and delicious combinations.. like breakfast Mac and cheese

Oh my god, I can’t stop thinking about this place. The food was so amazing, the martinis were delicious, our waiter was phenomenal. Such a vibe! I recommend 1000%

If you know you will be coming here for dinner, try to make reservations right away. It gets REALLY busy around 5P to 7:30P. Wait times are always around 1+ hours between then... especially if you are a party of 5 or more. We haven't had a bad meal here for the years we've eaten here. My kid loves the Korean BBQ (no green onions), my wife has tried all of their seafood dishes (even sushi) and has always been pleased. I like the burger, but their beef sandwich with parmesan crusted bread was awesome! Sad to say that we don't have dessert there with all the ice cream and other sweets shops within walking distance.

We were there on Thursday evening! It was my boyfriend’s first time to Grand Haven and we were excited to try something new. The ambiance, service, and martinis were AMAZING! The food was just so-so; it looked better than it tasted. The Cuban shrimp was probably our favorite along with the filet bites. The filet bites were cooked perfectly and were nice and tender. The mushrooms and blue gill lacked flavor in our opinion and probably wouldn’t order those again. We would definitely come back for the drinks, but in all honesty would probably try another place for food.

Wonderful service and wonderful food! Just the right size portions, delicious flavors. I highly recommend coming again.

5 out of 5 - loved our experience. We checked out this place on suggestion from our local B&B host. And definitely not disappointed - We opted to have a few of the small plates to share. We had Garlic Mushrooms, Korean Chicken BBQ and Bread & Butter. Delicious and wished out stomachs allowed for more options. So so good and portions were slightly larger than a tapas. Definitely would come back when our travels bring us back to South Haven.

The food was fresh and delicious! I got a Margarita on the rocks (I don't like vodka... So no Martini for me) and my husband had a martini that he liked. We shared: Korean BBQ, Cajun chicken, hummus special, spicy tuna roll, and a Phoenix roll. The hummus was spectacular! All the food and drinks were good. The wait was worth it. This is definitely the best restaurant in the area for a nice dinner.

This is one wonderful restaurant; as a vegan, I had NO TROUBLE getting a lovely nutritious dinner of roasted broccoli, sauteéd mushrooms and onions and warm bread with olive oil instead of butter, and hummus with pita. Service was great. Bathrooms (for me, always a barometer of restaurant quality) were clean and kept up.

This place is delicious, and honestly some of the best food on the coast of Michigan between South Haven and Saint Joseph. Their menu has a lot of variety and nothing has ever disappointed when we visit.

Called to order takeout, was told that they don't offer take out when they are expect to be busy that day. I called 30 mins after they opened, I was told they weren't busy at all, but still not able to cook an order that I wanted. Couldn't give me a reason why. I wont be going back to this place, suggest you stay away as well.

Had dinner tonight. The food? Perfect. Our table with a nice view of the harbor? Perfect. The service from the tall waitress with the tattoos on her arms? Perfect. Paper Plane cocktail? Perfect. I will be back eventually. Made my vacation. Thank you. UPDATE: Just came back this summer. Was even better than the first time. 11/10. Amazing service; thank you Heidi. Will return Summer 2025!

For the most part it was pretty good. I thought that the blue gill was excellent. But the rest of my meal was great!

Happened to grab a great dinner experience on a great weather weekend in Southaven. The staff were super friendly and the restaurant had nice ambiance too but food fell a little flat. Went with the shrimp and coconut rice dish with the combo sushi roll (tuna & smoked salmon & other stuff) on a recommendation. Shrimp & rice was a little bland but spiced it up, the sushi roll was drenched in spicy mayo & eel sauce; fresh sushi grade salmon would (IMHO) work better than the smoked version. I do get this could be due to regional "taste" preferences, as the food I ate in Michigan tended to have a bit more sweetness (more ingredients added) to it. The old fashioned made with Bullit Rye was nicely balanced. I would go back for a drink!

The food here is soooooooo good! Come check em out! It can be hard to get a table because it is the hottest spot in town but they have reservation options and you can get in line online. I'm hoping they add some seltzer options!

Met with friends for lunch. First visit for all of us and it was absolutely delightful. To start with the waitress Ellie was very nice and patiently explained everything to us. We had potato soup, tomato soup, artichoke hearts, cuban shrimp, scallops, potato pancakes, fish tacos and salmon. All the food was seasoned and prepared to perfection. Prices are surprisingly reasonable. The atmosphere is friendly and inviting. A good selection of drinks is also available with martinis and craft beers. In short it is a great experience and value for the money. We will definitely be back. Check out their Web site. They have display allergy specific menu items. So convenient.

I'm a lover of food, big or small plates and this place I loved. All around a great time there, the food was pretty amazing and the cocktails were very tasty as well. I know this is a small plate restaurant but I'm just not sure if 10 bucks for three bite sized pieces of blue gill really justify it. The shrimp and the seafood dip, absolutely.

This five-star comes mostly down to, appropriately, the TASTE. Perfect portions, great atmosphere, quick to the table — all amazing, but the taste is what sends it to one of the nicest meals I've had recently. Friendly, helpful staff. A MUST-VISIT when you're in town. All for a shockingly affordable price. Recommendations: Blackened chicken, steak, phoenix roll, and the BISQUE!

I initially left a five start review , however since I ate here with my brother and cousin a couple of weeks ago , my brother’s stomach has been consistently upset for two weeks . I have eaten here for years myself with no issues , and while my food is usually excellent, whatever was served to him was not good .

WORTH A 45 MINUTE WAIT!! My husband and I were visiting South Haven and had multiple friends recommend we try Taste. We did not have a reservation when we arrived and there was a 45 minute wait. We strolled through the downtown area until the host texted that our table was ready. Our server was Belinda and she was so pleasant! We ordered the bread plate, the blackened chicken, the salmon, and the tempura roll and cleaned every plate! It was the best food I’ve eaten in a restaurant in as long as I can remember! I already can’t wait to go back!

Great food, clean place, reasonable prices, a must visit if you are visiting or if you live in the area. This brings a style that south haven needed badly! Parking can be tough . . . But that is the standard in downtown south haven. Check this place out!

Omg! If I could give them more stars I would. Some of the best food I've ever had in my 44 years on earth. We had jerk shrimp, like cilantro salmon, seafood dip and drinks. Best old fashioned I've ever had. Will going here again for sure.

Sat outside and enjoyed the beautiful Michigan sunset! Ellie was our waitress and she did a great job. Due to Celiac, we had to avoid gluten, the food came out with allergy markers, and we appreciated that extra piece of mind. The small plate salmon was our favorite and the filet with second favorite!

Chicken sandwich was soo good & service so friendly :)

We ordered the seafood dip, cuban shrimp, tomato parmesan soup and the bleu cheese salad and all of these items were great! The cuban shrimp was very flavorful! The prices weren't bad either. I would recommend going here :)

The drinks were delicious but the food was not very impressive. We tried a few items the chicken enchilada soup didn’t actually have chicken in it. The chicken skillet chicken had a weird texture and was very rubbery. The tomato soup was eatable but nothing special. The grilled cheese came with barely cooked disgusting bacon on it. The rice was clearly microwaved dry and sticky. The broccoli was cooked perfectly and was good but not at all seasoned. All in all I think Taste is a misleading name.

One of our favorite places in South Haven. The grilled cheese sandwich is amazing and they always have a nice hummus small plate.

The food, atmosphere and service has been great. What I take issue with, and the reason for the 2-star review, is the reservation system. We couldn’t reserve a table online because we were less than 4 people. When I tried to call, I was told they weren’t taking reservations because they wanted to leave it open for walk-ins, however, there wasn’t a wait. We drove AN HOUR and guess what? When we got there, it was an hourlong wait. So, effectively we had to wait two hours because they wouldn’t take a reservation because we had a table of three instead of four. Correct me if I’m wrong but tables of three are sat at the same four-top … extremely frustrated and will likely never return.

This place had great small plates. I highly recommend the Korean chicken, potato pancakes, the bread and butter , fish tacos and the jerk shrimp and rice. We had four ladies and shared 6 plates and it was just enough food. The staff was friendly and the location is great.

We went here for lunch today and split 3 small plates. Everything was the perfect amount of food for lunch, and it all tasted amazing! We hot the blackened chicken, the fish tacos, and the chef's mac & cheese (which changes often, and we got to try the enchilada mac & cheese -amazing!). The inside was beautiful, and at first we were worried that we might be underdressed (we were in shorts and t-shirts), but it's a very casual crowd and we fit right in. I would definitely recommend this place!

I’ve been here twice and both times it was delicious! Everything we ordered was great. The chairs are so comfortable. Will be back!

Solid choice in south haven. They could be friendlier. Don’t get sucked in on the Mac and cheese. It’s always sounds awesome, but have it a couple of times and always falls flat and a bit flavorless.

I've been here a few times and have never been disappointed. Even for small plates, the portions are generous. They do a great job with the menu - quite a wide variety to fit any taste. Highly recommended for your visit in this beautiful town.

Had my first pickle-tini here and it was actually pretty good. We got the seafood dip 10/10, the angus burger and beef sandwich. Food was good! The drinks were better.

The food, from appetizer to dessert, was excellent. The prices were decent. I've eaten at several establishments attempting to prop themselves up as something special beyond the typical family restaurant or diner...and many price themselves pretentiously, I guess, in an effort to appear "high end." Taste did not do this with their prices. The cost was lower than I expected with food of this caliber. The staff were all friendly (I was there for my birthday) and every member from our server, the hostess, and the young man clearing the table, wished me "happy birthday.". All-in-all, a good experience.

Everything was amazing. Our server was very nice and attentive. We got the seafood dip first, I think it's my favorite one I have ever had. I had a filet that was perfect! It's also 10 Oz which is very fairly priced.

We decided to eat here on our overnight trip to South Haven. The waiter was kind and informative, the energy in the building was amazing and the food was some of the best food we have ever had the pleasure of eating and the drinks were phenomenal. We look forward to coming back and trying even more things!!!

We eat here every year when we are in South Haven. This year made us decide we won't come back next year. Prices went way up and portions went way down. The remodel isn't very appealing either. We were really disappointed this year.

1st time in. Really comfortable atmosphere. Started with We decided to try some of the small plates to share. Started with the seafood dip and followed with the jerk shrimp with coconut rice and a slider special. Everything was delicious. The jerk shrimp was by far my favorite. Looking forward to trying more next time.

Our first time as guest in south haven looking for an upscale Restaurant, very bad experience at this place if you are from chicago or outside south haven don’t go there they will not treat you as a guest before you finish your meal they will kick you out , had my anniversary had a reservation for 5 pm we were seated we ordered a bottle of wine to enjoy our evening, all the sudden the manager was extremely rude and she came to our table and said we need this table for another reservation you need to wrap it up . I couldn’t believe what I heard cz we were in the middle of our evening where NO one told us that we only have one hour at this table they let us order many plates with drinks then she asked us to go where there were other tables behind us that she can use till we’re done we finally after she came for the 2 nd time and showed us her attitude features We called the police on the manager , she did all that so she can flip as many tables that night as she can she thinks working at a coffee shop , if she approached us with a civil matter and said , folks I really do apologize we are over booked tonight and we need as many tables as we could , and I’m really sorry but I only have 20 more minutes left for the next reservation I tell you what for the inconvenience I will comp your dessert for the inconvenience, I WILL be happy to help and leave but she kicked us out literally, honestly there are much better restaurants and people who show you some respect , stay away if you can , cheers from chicago

While out of town for a weekend get away with my boyfriend we wanted sushi and stumbled across Taste.... when I say easily one of our most memorable stops over the weekend. THE most well cooked Filet I have had in my entire 26 years (and my mans 24), I literally haven't stopped telling people about it. We also had the egg drop soup and hummus, both so good and I really appreciated the plating with the hummus. I had an espresso martini which could have been better, but the service and food made up for that. 12/10 try a "taste" and you'll understand.

Was in town visiting family and they suggested here for lunch. It was a different concept than we were used to but enjoyed it. The food and service was great and will definitely visit again when in the area.

We have been to Taste a handful of times and it’s consistently great. The menu and drinks are unique, and the service is top notch!

The Martinis were good. Food was good but not great. We had a reservation but when we arrived we were seated at a bar table even though there was space in the main dining area. It appeared the staff was short staffed or stressed. Staff attitude was cold at first but recovered.

The food was great. Just took a little while To be served.

I wanted to like this place but was mostly annoyed to the point where I wanted to just eat my food and get out. We visited on a Sunday late afternoon. The hostess took us to a high top table in the far corner. Next to it was an empty high top that wasn’t stuck back in the corner. I asked if we could sit at that table instead. The look on the face of the hostess was as if I had asked her to haul two 40-pound bags of rock salt over there and then asked her to move it over to the other side of the restaurant. I’m not sure what her deal was with but the management should tell her that her insolence is not a good look to their diners. I ordered a burger that was cooked exactly as I ordered it. It came with fries and had a small metal cup with ketchup for the fries. There were no sides of condiments for the burger and there were none on the table. So I asked for a side of ketchup and mayo to dress the burger with. The waiter walked by twice after this request and would have walked past a third time had my partner not stopped and asked him if I was going to get my condiments. Finally, fifteen minutes after the initial request the sides of condiments arrived and I could eat avoid eating a dry burger, except now it was cold. My partner enjoyed his portobello sandwich. I’m not inclined to return.

Love this place. Try to stop in whenever I stay in South Haven. Everything on the menu is typically very good. Highly recommended.

We- two couples- had quick lunch on a Saturday. Service was quick enough to enjoy the place & have a little conversation. Food was tasty & portions were perfect to satisfy you. Prices felt right on the spot . We paid $45 for a couple. We’ll be back!

Went on a Saturday night and sat at the bar. It was busy. The mojito was great. Spicy Tuna - a very small amount of tuna surrounded by a very large amount of rice. I have never had a tuna roll with so little tuna in it. Sweet-n-Smoky Ribs - the ribs were great and the cole slaw delicious. Garlic Mushrooms - this was the best! Mushrooms and bread to dip in the juice - excellent.

Came on a Thursday evening and not an empty table in sight, definitely recommend having a prior reservation for faster seating. My boyfriend and I shared 4 of the small plates which were delicious, the macaroni and cheese and Korean bbq were particular stand outs. Relatively generous sizes compared to other tapas style restaurants I have been to. Overall very cute and reasonably priced, good for a date!

Perfectly cooked beef, fish tacos that were full of flavor and grilled cheese leveled up with bacon. The service on drinks was a little slow but the delicious food more than made up for it. The restaurant was open, seating not crowded even though the space was full of people. Clean space and friendly staff.

We stopped in Friday afternoon after driving across state for a quick bite. Service, food, and staff were very good. Ordered 4 appetizers that were excellent. Hard to get in after 4:00 on weekends.

I was looking to visit this place as the reviews were very encouraging. We got two soups and three small plates so I’d say we had a good sample of the menu. Blackened chicken was so over-seasoned that no amount of water could help me dilute the salty taste in my mouth. It was not edible. Scallop scampi was an utter disgrace - they were flavorless and watery like they just came out of a microwave. Fish tacos were tasteless but somewhat edible. The only highlights were tomatoe parmesan bisque and a local MI riesling. It’s a distaste, sorry.

Came here with high hope, left with disappointment. The scallop scampi taste like frozen food reheated, the blacken chicken was so Salty that I want to chug a gallon of water, the fish taco was the only edible item of the three, however not much “fish” to be expected. Overall the food presentation wasn’t meeting expectations, the small plate menu is essentially your typical appetizer menu.

Wife and I decided to give Taste a try and we have heard lots about it. The food is amazing, great combo of flavors. The sushi was very fresh and amazing. Good experience and great atmosphere. EDIT: Went back again and ordered different food this go around, the seafood dip is packed with flavor and the pita that comes with it is a perfect match. The filet bites are seasoned to perfection and so tender. The potato pancakes surprised me as I didn’t have much hope for them but good combo of flavors if you like to expand your pallet. Then the blue gill just wow, it was soft and buttery and paired with their what I think was ranch was just so good. Now onto dessert the tiramisu, while this isn’t something I normally like, but it is exceptionally good

While in south haven we ate here our final night, food was delicious, service by Heidi was perfect. Thank you My only complaint is the filet bites were too seasoned, I don't eat with alot of salt so these were extremely salty even though being tender and delicious 😋

Vacationed in South Haven for the first time. Had dinner at Taste. The food was very good. Started with Hummus, then had sushi. Specifically the Seafood Rangoon roll and the Tuna Cilantro roll. Both were awesome. Wife had the Filet Bites and was happy with that meal. Staff was very friendly and attentive. Would recommend to anyone in the area.

Went here to celebrate my partner and a recent work milestone. It was a busy Saturday late afternoon/early evening. We were able to get sat for 2 instantly, which was very lucky as they were bustling with people both indoor and outdoor. I got the Dirty Detorit Martini, which was pickle juice and vodka with cracked black pepper. I really like pickle drinks, so this hit the mark for me. Very enjoyable drink. I love food and want to try one of everything instead of just ordering a main entree. So, that is basically what I did with the small plates. Here is everything we ordered: Soup of the Day: Cream of Garlic - YUM garlic lovers dream Mac and Cheese - Very good creamy cheesy comfort dish to the max. Crispy Artichoke - These were so light and one of my favorite parts to dinner. Garlic Mushroom - These were great with the grilled bread to soak up all the saucey goodness. Cuban Shrimp - loved the saffron in this! Bay Scallops Scampi - huge fan of baby scallops. Fun spin on scampi that I've never had before. Potato Pancakes - the apple chutney with these was delicious. House Salad w/ their housemade ranch - typical salad and a great homemade ranch The waitress was incredible and started bringing our food out in waves because we ordered so much, lol. Unfortunately, my date had an illness flare up while eating that caused us to need to leave while food was still coming. The waitress got the remaining food boxed while cashing us out and even brought us 2 waters to go and plastic silverware. The service provided was above and beyond. I can't wait to try this location again. Thank you to the Chefs and Servers!

Food was very good! Visiting South Haven and decided to go back two nights in a row. Service and quality was the best! Filet tips are wonderful and sushi was also excellent. Drinks are good too!

Hands down the most friendly staff & amazing food!

Made a reservation 10 days in advance and asked for a booth or a table by a window. When we arrived they acknowledged our reservation and took us to a high top in the bar area. I told the young lady that this was unacceptable and not what we had requested. She rudely told us to take it or leave it because that’s all they had. I forgot to mention that we are in our 80’s, and a high top is extremely difficult for most people our age. We felt like we had no choice. In retrospect, I wish that I had asked to speak to the manager in charge. To add to our misery, the noise level in this restaurant is extremely high. The plus is that the food was excellent. However, based on our experience, we would not ever return nor would we ever recommend this restaurant.

Food was indeed fresh and delicious like other reviews mention :) Here is the Mac N' Cheese, Korean BBQ chicken, and scallop scampi, all delicious and not too filling or heavy! Sauce of that scallop scampi was so good. I didnt realize there wouldn't be any pasta but it was for the best, less carbs and I didn't feel too full afterwards :)

While visiting South Haven, my family and I decided to eat here based on rating and reviews, what a mistake. Food was not good, very small portions(hence small plates) should have known better. Way overpriced for the quality and quantity of food, not to mention the wait to get our meals. I think we’ll try Clementines next time, seems to be a better choice based on what others were saying about their food.

You want to call when they open to be put on the waiting list. I had a two hour wait last night and dined in around 830 pm. So while waiting we went back to walking around even had time to get in the water. Outdoor dining was worth the wait time. Nice ambiance and the plates are delicious. I would recommend the sweet and sour shrimp, fish tacos & the salmon. We regret not ordering more, it was so good!

We didn’t have a reservation so wait time was about an hour, but it was well worth it. Started with the tomato Parmesan soup along with ordering the small plate bread and garlic butter. Excellent! We then ordered the filet bites and Korean bbq small plates. So good. Wish we would have ordered a second plate of filet bites. Yum! Ended with the warm chocolate chip cookie with ice cream. This was, far and away, our best meal in South Haven.
