Can’t say enough good things about this spot—a hidden gem within the hidden gem of Middlebury. My favorite Indian restaurant even after living out of state in several places. The food is incredibly delicious and the menu is varied but executed well every time for each item whether for take-out or dine-in. The restaurant itself is a wonderful place for an intimate dining experience—quiet, with a nice view of the falls. Everyone on staff is so friendly and helpful, and they make the online ordering experience totally seamless. Tindia has always been a favorite!

The service wasn't the best but the food was kind of disappointing. Everything was hot and fresh, except the Naan seemed undercooked and was definitely bland. Samosas and pakora left a lot to be desired, too. Honestly, it was all edible, and nothing was bad, but I wouldn't spend more money here.

After having lived here for a while, I think this is one of my favorite restaurants in Vermont. The food is delicious and well priced and delicious. The service is good, and the food is also delicious. It has its own kind of back alley vibe, and the food is, well, delicious.

I never expected to find the best Indian food I've had down an alley in Vermont. Everything we've had has been extremely good. Takeout is always ready on time.

Best Indian food in Vermont - period. Everything they make is top notch and the owners are super nice people. My personal favorites are the Baingon Bharta, Malai Kofta, naan (best naan ever!), samosas or pakoras. Really can't go wrong here!

They sat us ( in our 40s lol) in the middle of five or six tables of kids under 18 that were screaming and cackling lol. I mean don’t get me wrong , fine, but. Why do that? There another room (not that it was quiet but not in the center of it which would have been much better. The waitress tossed the glasses and water pitcher on the table and walked away . We never got asked if we wanted anything, or if there were specials.. and the other lady that came and took our order, she informed us we can’t order off the lunch menu. (We made dinner reservations ?) we were just looking through their menu for something to do.it was just a very NOT pleasant atmosphere, not great table side service. The food on the other hand is really GOOD food. You can’t knock something that’s delicious. We just took our food to go and had a good night elsewhere :) I highly recommend for take out unless you’re a kid looking for a weekend or night hang out. (Which again that’s great, but advertise as such and don’t take date reservations lol) I also gotta mention the prices are stellar , very affordable!

I haven't had delicious Indian food since leaving DC. My hopes for this place were meh, but I was completely wrong! The food here was absolutely amazing! I go from Williston to Castleton every day and I will definitely be a regular here. Can't wait to try more dishes from here!

Great, jolly, packed restaurant! Can't say enough about it. Lamb curry with peaches and raisins, naan stuffed with spinach....fragrant, delicate chai. All the food was not just delivered to our table, but "presented" with a smile. We cheerfully ordered too much and have leftovers for days!

We had a family with the dinner during our college visit. The location is not easily seen from the street side, but after you enter in it is very spacious. You immediately get the delicious smell of Indian cuisine as you enter. The menu is very rich with many options for all taste lovers. The service is very friendly and quick. It is one of my son's favorite place. Highly recommend.

Taste of India is the best!! They have AMAZING food, service, and atmosphere. I highly recommend the vegetable samosas, channa masala, and garlic naan. You can't go wrong! Great for take out or dine in. It is always a homey vibe.

I want to take this opportunity to thank the owners and staff of Taste of India for being a great source of support for me during my two-month-long stay in Middlebury. Apart from its quality food, it is their homely environment that took the cake for me. You must not leave Middlebury without trying its food.

Delicious Indian food! I went back almost everyday while I stayed in Middlebury. The view from the restaurant overlooks the river is nice. Very friendly staff and owner. They make you feel welcome. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Love there weekend buffet. Slightly dark in parts but there’s not much they can do with the position. Good food and drinks 👍🏽 staff are always pleasant

Food is incredible but the last time I went the young girl who served us was very rude, and also asked me to not dip my naan directly into the sauces because "that's what the spoons are for, and now we won't be able to reuse them" Grossed me out, the girl then kept throwing nasty looks my way the whole evening. Won't be returning even though the food is great.

I ordered a bunch of stuff to try from their lunch specials menu, and I highly recommend you do the same! Everything was so delicious and spiced to perfection. Aloo chaat is going to be my new potato salad for the summer - so bright and satisfying. The vegetable pakora and aloo tikki were also amazing, especially dipped in the chutneys! For entrees, I tried the saag paneer and chana poori. It was my first time having both, and the highlight was the spinach gravy. I never thought I could like spinach so much! Can’t wait to come back:)

Best Indian food in Vermont. The lamb was tender and everything had wonderful flavor; so delicious! Mild is good for people who don’t want any heat. (that’s me) my husband loves heat and was not disappointed with the medium. Welcoming and very nice staff, even though they are always super busy. Decor is a bit odd mix of kitschy English garden with fake flowers and lovely Indian paintings. Some tables have a view of the river, which we liked. Park in the public parking area. Drive pass their parking lot and go about a block.

Wonderfully spiced dishes. Great variety. Excellence service. We really like this restaurant. The menu accommodates both meat eaters and vegetarians.

My coworker and I have been itching to try TOI and we finally, on a whim, drove all the way to Middlebury to make it happen. We ended up visiting closer to closing but they still were welcoming. Over all, not too much interaction between us and staff. Again, it was busy and late, so that's understandable. Otherwise, it could just be how they chose to operate. Regardless, the food was delicious. There is a large variety of options and flavor profiles. The one thing that people may want to know: our particular order was served similar to family style (a lot of shared bowls and plates). We didn't mind, but I know that may be relevant to someone else. Parking was tricky because their personal lot is extremely small, and the ajoining lot is shared by a number of businesses/public lot. You may have to do a bit of walking. I'm unsure of entrance accessibility or disability parking. If this is relevant to you, definitely give them a call beforehand for information.

I always come here when I'm home on break from college. Honestly the only restaurant in Middlebury that I look forward to eating at. Nothing around here compares, especially given the price point

Fantastic Indian restaurant! Loved pretty much every course, even got my wife to enjoy LAMB for the 1st time. Delicious sauces, crispy perfect vegetable pakora, very fruity mango lassi, and then we were very happy with our pick of their India House Special (dinner for two). A bowl of tandoori chicken and a great lamb Seekh Kabab mixed with veggies. Garlic naan always delicious!

I have had lamb before and didn't care for it, but I actually enjoyed the lamb here! They did an amazing job with all the dishes we tried! Great service, too!

A quaint Indian Restaurant tucked in one of the corners of Middlebury. I am given to understand that it has been in existence for over 35 years now. We kicked off with Paneer Pakoda for starters. This was followed by a Vegetarian Thali, Garlic Naan, Kofta Curry and Chicken Tikka. The Kofta Curry was accompanied with a bowl of Basmati Rice whereas they gave a choice of Green Salad or Rice with the Chicken Tikka. We chose the salad. We also ordered a Vegetable Biryani and a plate of Samosa to go. The dishes were quite tasty and sumptuous. However I was disappointed with the Chicken Tikka as it seemed quite bland and under marinated. The service was swift and the waitress was quite helpful and friendly. Overall a must visit place if you are in Vermont and need to try Indian cuisine.

Fantastic. High quality ingredients. Regular and cheese naan were large, light, crisp exterior with great texture. Biryani was among the best I have had - great depth of spice. Generous servings. Everything was richly flavored - lots of spice (not just heat, although the heat level at medium was pretty hot compared to other Indian restaurants), curries were thick and clearly made with no shortcuts. Service was delightful and perfectly timed. Prices were very reasonable, especially considering the high quality of the food.

Massive servings, great view, and it’s clear they get a ton of buissness with take out orders. This is the place that the locals must like and keep coming back to. Plus that garlic naan was out of this world good. And the one thing they do here that I haven’t seen anywhere else? They put ice in their lassi. And I now like it that way over anything else because it stays cold longer and that’s awesome. Thanks for changing my life 💯

We’ve visited Taste of India, VT while we were staying at Port Henry, New York; just to have our lunch. And we made the good decision. The person who runs this place is very welcoming and kind. We have ordered a vegetable soup, vegetable biriyani and kulfee. Everything tasted so good, quantity of vegetable biriyani was huge, easily two people can have one order. It’s absolutely worth every dollar you pay. I loved the dessert, kulfee was awesome! Do give it a try. Ambience of this restaurant is so beautiful, especially the seats near window was very beautiful. Restroom is very spacious and super neat. Overall, if you are anywhere near this restaurant, and especially if you’re an Indian, this is where you should have your next meal.

The food was good and came out relatively quick. However, the staff was a bit rude — we came in an hour and fifteen minutes before they closed and the manager and/or host said he could seat us if we "make it quick." Not the best way to greet paying customers, especially if you want them to give you more than three stars on Google reviews...

My sister and I come here often. The service is great, the food is delicious and excellent each time, we’ve had an awesome experience each time. Best naan bread around! Especially if you like vegetarian dishes which I always get--totally worth coming in to check out. You'll be back again and again if you love Indian food

Best Indian restaurant in the state of Vermont! The curries are delicious and the vegetable pakoras are amazing. The garlic naan is a must order. The Sunday brunch buffet is wonderful. The staff is so lovely too! I have been coming here for years and even though I've moved over an hour away, I still drive up to Middlebury just to come here from time to time because this is one of my favorite restaurants. If you are in the Middlebury area definitely make a stop here for lunch or dinner!

The Chicken Masala was delicious. Good sized Garlic Naan - one will feed 2 people. The wait staff was attentive and our questions were answered in an understandable way.

Taste of India is my favorite restaurant and has been for years. I love the paneer masala and vegetable mango curry and the samosas and pakoras are amazing appetizers. The restaurant is operated by a wonderful family who offer consistently delicious, authentic, fresh, high quality dishes and service. You can’t go wrong, I have never had a bad meal here! 😊

An authentic Indian cuisine restaurant in the heart of the town of Middlebury, VT! Nicely decorated, with authentic vibe, beautiful views to the Batell bridge and the river. The food was delicious, menu indicating gluten free options for celiacs and very importantly reasonably priced. Highly recommended and will surely return.

I have been coming here for over a decade. The family who owns the restaurant is always gracious and attentive to detail. The food is good and often excellent and the chef always sends wonderful extra side pickles and other additions. Of particular note are the curries which are diverse and well prepared. The Tandoori meats have sometimes been on the dry side. I wholeheartedly recommend Taste of India. We are lucky to have it in Middlebury and I recommend it to you without reservation!

Some amazing vegan Indian food! We did take out and the process was great and the food was amazing. The naan is huge and packs some great flavors. I found the medium spice level to be just right.

First experience was last night getting quarantine takeout. Went for the rogan josh, garlic naan, paneer pakora, and tandoori chicken. Everything was on point, a surprise for VT Indian food! Their cleanliness was impressive too - person asked my name and went back inside after delivering my food onto a table outside, maintaining social distancing. Highly recommend.
