This was our neighborhood go-to spot for the 3 years that we lived in the area. The menu had an entire section of vegetarian dishes, which is not uncommon for Indian restaurants but hard to find in Woodbridge. We loved the veggie samosas and pretty much the entire section of vegetarian dishes, especially the daal and shahi paneer. The food tastes fresh and homemade, sometimes the ginger is really prominent and other times the spices are stronger, which is proof that everything is made fresh and from scratch because food never tastes the same twice when it’s made from scratch. The servers are very professional and service is always very timely. The owner is frequently in the restaurant. The beer is served in chilled glasses. We already miss being regulars here, this was our favorite restaurant in the area!

First time in Woodbridge and this was our lunch stop. So good!

Amazing Indian cuisine one of my go to restaurants. Actually, the butter chicken was so tasty with the garlic naan and also they gave me so much food for just about 20 bucks. The staff was very kind. And respectful. Highly recommend the butter chicken extra spicy with garlic naan it is one of the best meals of all time and also this is one of the greatest restaurants in Virginia if you want to try some Indian food highly recommend this place definitely coming back

Really enjoyed the food here. I am fairly new to Indian food, and everything I tried was delicious.

Great atmosphere, good service but the food just didn’t meet my standards. I ordered chicken tikka masala medium spice, tandoori chicken wings, and garlic naan. Everything was hot after i picked it up which was great but the food was not great. The garlic naan was burnt and chewy. The chicken wings were very bland and were not tender. The chicken tikka masala really surprised me as it lacked much flavor and spice, it was not spicy at all. The food just did not taste like authentic Indian food and was definitely not worth the price.

Very bad food Would no recommend going if you’re in the look for Indian cuisine. We tried the chicken tikka masala, butter chicken and Naan l. By far the naan was the worst thing I’ve had, it was dry, burned, and no hint of real garlic whatsoever.

Excellent service and servers. Our server took time to answer our questions about the menu and various food offerings.

We used to love the lunch buffet here, and this lunch special is the best of the buffet. Everything is delicious, service is attentive, and the calm atmosphere enhances the meal.

They are super careful with your takeout or delivery orders. The food is always still piping hot after you got home. Definitely recommend!

We went for family dinner with our out of state guest. We were ordering the food. One of our guest ask a question about garlic Naan that if you make them in house. The girl behind the counter stating she is the manager ask if we would like to come to kitchen. The simple answer would have been YES or NO. First she was not wearing any uniform, very rude and disrespectful. I have been coming to this restaurant for long 10+ years for buffet, carry out and family Dinners. Best lunch specials in the DMV!

Ordered delivery. Half the food didn’t come with the included rice and none came with the included naan. The most expensive meal with the least food ever. Also the okra was half raw and barely edible and the butter chicken was just ok

"The dish on the plate tasted quite bland, and upon inquiring, I found out that they used Rice-A-Roni. I have had this particular dish at the Indian bazaar in Fairfax, VA before, and it was much more flavorful there. However, I am willing to give this place another chance. That being said, I was disappointed to find out that they did not serve Thums Up cola. A genuine Indian restaurant would never miss out on Thums Up Cola. It appears that this place is a mere imitation of the real deal."

Shahee paneer, chicken vedupu was excellent. Momos would be better if they steamed more, but they were tasty. Will definitely go back to taste some more varieties of vegetarian.

UPDATE: I haven't been here in a while because I moved further away but I was in the area last week and was really craving the food and to my surprise, I was disappointed. I didn't see the same familiar face that always greeted us before so I asked if the place had been sold and was told no. I soecifically asked for the gentleman we were familiar with and I was told he is the owner and was in the back so that gave me a little peace of mind. Then we got our food amd the difference from before is day and night. It was bland, all 3 of our dishes which we always get so we know what the previous taste was. I asked if the chef had maybe changed and again I was told no. They either misinformed me in response to my questions or the chef has lost his/her touch. I miss the weekend buffet so at this point that is the only way I would return so I can hopefully eat something that tastes good cause the separate individual orders were not up to par. See photos from this recent visit ORIGINAL: I really like this place and come quite a bit. Today I ordered for pickup and witnessed something degrading. One of the cooks poked his head out from the back and handed the person at the bar one of those small soup containers like you would get from a chinese food place. I thought someone had asked for it for carry out but to my surprise, the bar person filled it with coke and sent it back to the cook. I mean come on seriously, they cannot use a plastic cup or a glass to drink? I am curious to get some feedback from owners or management about this incident as it was a turn off for me. Depending on the response and if I come back I will ask the staff about this. Every human deserves to be treated with dignity and respect. I am a bit upset right now. I am actually sitting outside in my car. I could not wait to post this.

I usually order Doordash but thats gotten expensive so i did take out over the phone. Excellent customer service, on the phone and during pickup. I ordered butter chicken and garlic naan like usual, its amazing. Though my only little issue is when i order the butter chicken on doordash, it comes with regular naan and rice. In this order, it only cane with rice, but at least i ordered a side of garlic naan.

We have been going to Taste of Tandoor for many years! It is an excellent Indian restaurant in PW County! We love the Butter Chicken and Chaat Papri appetizer. Their vegetarian dishes are good as well!

I order chart and chicken carry’ the only teste it have bad very spicy and no salt at all waisting money I don’t recommend it to anyone here

Best Indian food in the state of Virginia. It would be a 5 star review but they will give you a half portion if you order the food online or over the phone. So I'd suggest going in person. Definitely way over priced if you order online or the phone. I think they think nobody would notice it. They started doing this some time during the pandemic and the practice never stopped. In person? Totally worth it. Order online? Probably just don't. Save your money on that front. You're literally being robbed.

Call and take out service was excellent today, ordered the butter chicken with naan and it tasted splendid. Taste of Tandoor serves the community with authentic South Asian cuisine. Will be back again.

Portions have definitely gotten smaller. Used to easily get two meals out of one order. Not so much anymore.

Omg this place was so good. I’ve never had Indian food before and went for the butter chicken because everyone recommended it and I was incredibly satisfied. Delicious! I also got the garlic naan on the side and it was all so yummy.

Food tasted good and yummy . We tried chicken karahi it was properly cooked and authentic sauce. Samosa was too much cooked felt as if refried but was ok. Naan was ok . Aloo paratha was good too. Gajar halwa was yummy. Service was faster. They gave food and water right on time . Asked multiple times regarding food so service was really on point. The shrimp tandoori was good but salad was super salty. Overall good experience nice ambience. Cost was ok too. Will refer others.

I picked up an order, The karahi. comes with no white sauce, no bread, no salad, no chik pea. No fork, no napkin, Only rice. For 15$ + tax and tip (so i paid like 17$) The karahi itself is not "deep" in flavor, almost like a canned sauce poured on boiled chicken. The chicken pieces were very large, too large.. I would pay more, for proper slow cooked karahi, that comes with more then just rice. In my experience, karahi really varies from place to place. The ones that make a good karahi are the ones I'd be telling all my friends about and going back too. That being said it's not terrible, just disappointing. This place will go under the "list of sub par woodbridge restaurants"

Ordering food on the phone isn't great at this place because the guy on the other end is quite rude. Could use better manners, other than that, great food!

We have been going here for many years, we are recognized by the staff for getting 4-5 orders of the butter chicken with garlic naan 🫓 Yum! Everyone here is always super kind to my husband and kids when they come pick up the food! We have tried other things on the menu as well but my kids love the butter chicken so we stick to it!

My husband and I have been patrons of Taste of Tandoor for many many years, and they graciously catered our wedding and we could not have been happier. The price point was more than fair, and their extensive Indian menu had options for everyone that attended, even those with dietary restrictions. Our guests were absolutely THRILLED with everything, and we had delicious leftovers that we enjoyed after the wedding as well. If we could give 10 stars we would! I would 10000% recommend Taste of Tandoor to cater your next event!

Taste Of Tandoor is family-friendly, and their staff is incredibly nice, especially with children. They go the extra mile to make the little ones feel comfortable. Don't forget to try their Mango Lassi – it was the highlight of our dining experience. I will definitely be coming back.

Visited Taste Of Tandoor with a group of friends. Taste Of Tandoor knows how to balance flavors. I recently ordered a combination of dishes, and it was a perfect mix of spicy and savory. I left with a happy palate and a big smile.

Whenever friends would come out of state to visit me, l would take them to this restaurant. One night, when one of my girlfriends visited from Canada l decided to bring her here. As we sat, talked and ate our food, which l must say was of good quality and quantity. I decided to order something else. Then l was told that what l wanted to order would take time and they are about to close the restaurant. After hearing that statement, such remarks made it clear that the restaurant was not interested in doing business with me. It’s been over a year and even though the restaurant is close to my house, l refuse to go and will never set foot there!!

They price gouge. Almost $30 for butter chicken with rice, garlic naan, and a water, plus tax and tip. I would understand if it was bigger portion sizes, but I shouldn’t have to spend $30 to get chicken, rice, and a small naan bread. Since they replied I’ll elaborate. At my local place that sells almost identical meals, I could have gotten TWO orders of the following: a similar amount of chicken, a bed of rice, a side of chickpeas, a small salad, and naan bread that’s about 3x the size, all for $30. You can’t sit there and tell me this isn’t price gouging when the most expensive thing in the butter chicken meal is the chicken. It seems as though the reply from this restaurant also is suggesting to not tip their waiters. As a first time guest, I didn’t know that the portions were so small, and for the price they charge, you wouldn’t expect them to be, but here we are.

Taste of Tandoor is my go-to Indian place. Although it’s not as good as some places in Old Town Alexandria like Diya Indian Cuisine. This place is spot on with most everything. You can’t go wrong with their chicken curry or tikka. I’ve had everything from here and it’s always good. I’ve never actually eaten in the restaurant but I’ve gotten to go orders and the staff is always friendly and helpful. I’ll continue to order from here because it’s the best in town.

Great authentic cuisine, not super sexy venue but if you want good Indian food..must check taste of tandoor

I would describe it as quantity over quality. The serving sizes were appropriate, but the food quality was poor. I’ve been here several times, tried several of their curries, and left disappointed. The curry is mostly watery, the spiciest option for their curry is tame, and the proteins are usually low quality. The flavor is a bit repressed, and I’m unsure how else I could describe it. They include free rice with an order of curry, which is a bit different than what I’m used to. The employees are kind and are relatively attentive; they provide excellent service. As of now, I would only come here to satiate my desire for Indian curry as my last resort. I can't speak on the rest of the dishes (appetizers, sides, etc.), but I would assume that the quality probably translates from their main dishes.

We were group of 4 on visit to woodbridge We ordered Veg samosa Some appitizer of shrimp and followed with chicken . Veg starter was not that great. So was on tray for veg -it seem like it was pre cooked with had ordered mutter panner ,mutter was too hard. Non veg dishes were all good in taste large portion Service was good and quick Check amount for 4 people was $130 before gratitude .

Love the food here. The service is friendly, and the food is exceptional with a wide range of options and customizable spice levels. Prices are reasonable. I recommend trying their butter chicken, garlic naan, and chicken biryani.

The food was phenomenal, not to mention the service too. Everything came quickly and someone was always there if we needed something. The food was so delicious, and the atmosphere was quiet, calm, and comfortable. Safe to say we will definitely be coming back.

It was good. Not amazing. But good. The garlic naan was not really garlicky enough. The chicken korma was good, but not amazing. It was not very flavorful, but "hot" was quite "hot"... not flavorful spicy, just hot spicy without the subtle taste of a well made korma. The palaak paneer was very good. No typical "meat" samosas, but they have chicken which I'd never before had and was pleasantly surprised that they were quite good. The waiter was a little too, I dunno,... casual, in the sense he would proffer unsolicited opinions that had me thinking "really?". And you know how a lot of Indian restaurants in particular keep your water glass filled to an almost annoying level... not this place. Best to flag someone down before you actually finish your glass. Will likely go back as I think Woodbridge doesn't have a huge set of options, at least not that I have found. All in all it was very "ok".

Over priced for poor quality. The order was incorrect. I asked for garlic naan and paid for garlic naan, only to have plain naan with my food. Additionally there was a human hair found in my food. UPDATE: The owner informed me that “it just happens” in regards to hair being found in the food. Additionally they had the audacity to say that I was complaining about hair found in the food “because I wanted more food?” ABSOLUTELY NOT. Send the Virginia department of health.

Love the chicken vindaloo and samosas!

Food is always fresh and authentic ( pssstt... couple of places in the vicinity parading as " Indian" are simply kabob places selling the most UN-Indian food ever ). Restaurant is clean and smells delicious. Staff and management always kind, attentive and friendly. Prices are reasonable and portions are huge . What more does one want while dining out love love love ❤️

Ordered the chicken biriyani and butter chicken and they all came in such small quantities. The chicken biriyani was in a styrofoam tray and the rice was literally falling because it burnt through the tray. It’s absolutely ridiculous definitely not coming here again. You can see the burn throughout the tray. I had to throw it out due to contamination.

I came here for lunch on a Sunday. They had lunch specials for the weekend. I did not expect the food to be as absolutely amazing as it was. The food was hot, the service was fast and the price was WAY below what I would have expected for food of this quality. I will definitely be returning! 10/10!

The food was terrible. It’s not even real Indian food. The butter chicken wasn’t even spicy or well seasoned it was just in tomato sauce with salt. That’s it now the biryani wasn’t even lamb, even though I ordered lamb and there was something in the food that made me very sick and made me throw up five times so 10 out of 10 would not recommend this place

My husband and I went last night and we’ve been to multiple Indian restaurants and for the price and portions they were offering is literally theft. The employees can’t speak English which I don’t mind but the constant having to repeat myself got annoying. language barrier or not at least have a few people who can speak English. Wouldnt recommend this place

Good food but it is hit or miss in terms of the taste of vegetarian entrees ( especially for Asian Indians). We’ve been going there for almost 20 years and we used to love it. But, it’s not consistently good.

Small portion of food and highly priced for it!

I'm always excited to try Indian restaurants whenever I’m in a new area. The atmosphere was really nice, so I had high expectations. The food was bland even after choosing the spiciest option, which was a letdown because my go-to is really hot food all the time. Long story short, this place made me feel pretty uncomfortable as I was watched intently by two workers, one of whom was the waiter, the ENTIRE time from the second I came in to the moment I paid. They definitely racially profile at this establishment, which is sad because they themselves are minorities, not to mention everyone working was darker than me. These two workers stared at us so much that I contemplated asking if they wanted to join our booth! If I wanted to be stared at, I’d go to a gas station and interact with drug addicts. Not horrible by any means, but I definitely wouldn’t come again.

Food was great surpassed expectations!!

Service was as good as it gets. They were very kind. Their food though, was below average. Lamb shish kebabs were very dry and their assorted appetizers were too oily. Lamb do’pyaza was quite decent.

The lunch special was well priced, and we got a lot of food. I got the vegetarian option with the Aloo Gobi Masala, and it was so good!

The worst customer service ever! Ordered over the phone and picked up the food. The food ended up so tasteless and really disgusting. Called the restaurant respectfully and tried to work it out with them to give them another chance to make up for their own mistake. First they agreed to give me store credit and pick up whenever I get a chance. Few minutes later, The owner called me back and asked to bring the food the next day in order to replace it for me, even though I made it clear to them that I threw the food away because it was inedible. I will never support this kind of customer service and rudeness.

This place serves very good Indian food. The service is always top-notch. The water glass is always refilled before asking. My favorite is the Chicken Tikka Masala, and my husband enjoys the lamb korma. The spice level is to your comfort. Worth your money.

The food can be a lot better. I honestly can't call it a good representative of Indian cuisine. The quality is definitely at par with the prices so no complains there. Servelice was also good. We were serviced by multiple servers and they were all attentive, courteous and helpful. When they let bysy, they can easily be overwhelmed though. The atmosphere and ambiance is above expectation for the location. I would like some Indian tunes and music playing in the background.

This was the absolute worst Indian food I've ever had. It is overpriced compared to the portion size. The butter chicken taste like it's just cooked in straight flavorless tomato sauce. Absolute worst meal I've had in awhile and only one I've thrown away.

Best Indian Food in Northern Virginia. If you want to try authentic indian food, try this place. Most amazing and flavorful food. In 7 years , this has been the best experience eating at an Indian restaurant - both food and service. Food is not too spicy/chilly so it suits the pallette a much broader community of food lovers. Kashmiri Naan was surprisingly super tasty. Our 5 year old daughter also loved the food here.

I had biryani, okra and chicken kadai. All of them hot levels. Which is spicy. Biryani did not taste like an authentic biryani. But it tasted like a pulav. They did not want to give me extra yogurt sauce which was weird. The okra and chicken kadai were good. I would recommend chicken korma though since it will be a little sweet. Must have the mango lassi to calm the spiciness. The appetizer was lamb kabob. Kabobs were a great taste but a small portion. Good place to get some spicy food in winter l.

This is an update to my previous reviews. I’ve tried just about every Indian Restaurant in the DMV. Taste of Tandoor is hands down the best when it comes to food taste, quality, service, and promptness. Everything I eat here is pure heaven, but I highly recommend their chicken briyani, chicken daniya, and dal Mahaki.

Good Indian food... The curries were excellent! Goat curry, lamb curry and butter chicken met expectations. The place was fairly clean and service was friendly and professional. The garlic and onion naan were delicious! Definitely worth going to if in the area and looking for Indian food.
