This place was incredible. We got the plantains, empanadas, goat kebabs, jollof rice and beef, and pound yam fufu and vegetable soup. I am not exaggerating one bit when I say it was all amazing. My only regret was not getting the savory plantains, but that was my bad. I will be dreaming about their food nightly until I get a chance to go back. Not only was the food great, but the service and atmosphere were top notch too.our waitress was super sweet and attentive, but also gave us plenty of space to enjoy each other's company, which is nice because it is rare that my husband and I get a chance to eat out just the two of us. Beautifully decorated, chill lighting, nice music turned just high enough to enjoy while still conversing. If you're debating on where to eat, you can't go wrong with Taste of West Africa. I can't wait to go back!

Never experienced African food before until T.O.W.A. dropped the motherland on my plate. Now I'm hooked. Even got my 5 yr old grandson enjoying veggies and beans...now that's amazing lol. My favorite is the oxtail and waakye. Good people, good music, beautiful art, good vibes.

This is a true gem in downtown Fayetteville! I am in love with this restaurant. My husband and I decided to try something new, and this was it! We were very pleased with our food and, of course, we will be back in the near future. We ordered starters that consisted of a Khebob (goat) and a meat pie (shredded beef). Both were delicious. Our entrees consisted of Okra soup and Egusi soup, both with Fufu. My husband and I were culturally sound during our meal and ate the dishes in the traditional way (using hands only)! The soups were superb! The atmosphere was so welcoming. The decor displayed brilliance in showcasing West African artwork and furniture. The customer service was top-notch! Our waitress, Stephanie, was absolutely wonderful! She answered all of the questions my husband and I had about the food and was very knowledgeable in what she spoke. The owner greeted us at the end of our meal, and we were elated to let her know how pleased we were with the food, atmosphere, and service. I wish I lived closer because I would visit this restaurant AT LEAST once a week. I plan to bring family and friends during the next visit. Seriously, if you don't do anything else, please visit this restaurant! I'm already ready to go back, and we just left!!!

I forgot to take a picture but let me tell you, the food was DE-LI-CIOUS! It was my second time at this restaurant and I left an empty plate. No leftovers because that's how good it was. Their fruit juice is always fresh. I had Jollof Rice with Beef and sweet plantains and my husband had another plate but with veggies and I even took a bite of his veggies. The guava cheesecake was amazing too. If you like Caribbean food you'll probably like this place too. 😁

Make sure you tell the server (Ashley) you want an adult size portion of fish or you’ll get a baby size flounder. I would order in because take out is a smaller portion. The spinach was from a can. I was charged an additional $15.00 for the side piece of fish. After the redo it was salty but delicious. I guess this is not the appropriate venue for fish orders or customer service. I do not recommend.

First visit was amazing. The second visit was even better. My server each time was Stephanie. She was friendly, patient, and knowledgeable on West African cuisine. Most recently, she suggested egusi soup and peanut butter soups for our entrees. Now, they are one of our most favorite flavorful meals. Her grandmother even came from the kitchen and gave us history on how she learned to prepare each dish. Overall, this was a great culinary experience. I can’t wait to go back and try something else. Writing this review made me hungry, I’m about to go heat up my leftovers!

We went here during the African World Peace Festival this weekend, the festival was so much fun and brought amazing vibes to downtown. I have to give a shout out to Z and Dr. V for their energy! I was a little disappointed in the service, but we did dine outside of their normal hours due to the festival. We ordered the sweet fried plantains, kabob, and meat pie which were all great. The Kelewele didn’t taste very spicy at all which was a little underwhelming.

We tried this spot as part of our clinic's endeavor to try new cuisines. Of the 8 of us, everyone really enjoyed the food. We tried a variety of joloff rice dishes, beef and vegetables pastries, sweet potato apps, goat kabob, African melon and spinach soup with fufu, and their in-house spicy chutney. Everything was so delicious! Those who had meat commented on how just how tender it was. The goat kabob was a favorite. And, the service was warm, kind, and inviting. It looks like the bar is still in development but the vibe was comfortable and lovely. Even if you're unsure, give it a try. It's warm, delicious, and filling comfort food. Our group comes from diverse backgrounds and everyone agreed this is a place to revisit. Thank you for such a wonderful experience!

From the moment we stepped in, we were greeted with warmth and hospitality by everyone including the staff, the owner and her mother. The food was absolutely phenomenal! I had goat, my husband had the oxtail and our kids had the chicken, each dish bursting with flavor and freshness. The atmosphere was vibrant, and our hearts were filled with joy throughout the meal. What truly touched us was the special attention given to our little one. Despite her playful noises, the mother of the owner came out personally with a plate tailored just for her. It's these thoughtful gestures that make this restaurant stand out. Our entire family had a fantastic time, and we're already planning our next visit. Stopped by Taste of West Africa today for lunch for the first time. We were visiting Fayetteville for the day and wanted something different. We are so glad this was the stop we made! The restaurant is nice and spacious, comfortable and clean. Service was prompt and very friendly. Aside from our waiter, we had three other staff members stop by our table to ask how we were doing. The food was amazing. The jollof with chicken was absolutely 🔥🔥🔥! So delicious, with a good depth of flavor. The plantains and veggies were equally delicious, as was the waakye. When dining out, it’s not just about the food—it's the entire experience, and Taste of West Africa in Fayetteville delivers on all fronts. From the moment we entered, we were embraced by a wonderfully vibrant atmosphere that just felt inviting. The culinary journey began with their rice dishes, which were perfectly seasoned and cooked to the right texture. But the true star of our meal were the plantains. These were cooked to a delightful crisp on the outside while remaining heavenly soft on the inside—a perfect testament to the authenticity and care put into each dish. Adding to the experience were the drinks and desserts, notably the tamarind drink with its unique tangy flavor that complemented the meal beautifully. The passion fruit cheesecake was a real treat too, with just the right amount of sweetness and a creamy texture that melted in your mouth. What made our visit truly memorable, however, was the personal attention we received. The owner and her mom personally visited our table, making us feel more like guests than customers. Their warmth and genuine interest in our experience were touching. Taste of West Africa is a gem that needs to be experienced. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for authentic flavors and a welcoming atmosphere. We'll definitely be back to support this fantastic local business.

On 04/13/2024, I took my girlfriend on a long drive just to order food for take out from this restaurant. Being as i am African myself and she’s wanted to try African food I thought this would be a good start. The vibe of the place was just okay, we had a super long wait time before the food was ready only to get the biggest disappointment from the taste. The Jollof Rice i ordered was just regular yellow rice with what tasted like palm butter soup and nasty vegetables added. My girlfriend ordered peanut butter soup and it tasted nothing like the soup, it was just nasty. Overall the food was not good at all and we paid quite a bit of money for nothing. We drove a long way to get there all in vain. On the up side the side of plantain was the only good thing we ate from this place. Would not recommend to eat here.

MY BEST friend is Togolese and I am a fan of his cooking and I have been cooking African food for years and decided to grab some food to take home from Taste Of West Africa. The jollof rice tasted like regular fried yellow rice and their portions are kids meal sized. I ordered the Egusi soup with chicken and the jollof rice with Goat and let me tell you this was thee MOST overrated African restaurant. Also they double charged me which ok yes it happens but I wanted them to make it right to keep a happy customer but they did not. Of course I got home and realized why after I ate the food. Fantastic place, fantastic atmosphere, fantastic people. A friend of mine, who had lived in Fayetteville for years, introduced me to Taste of Africa, and during his years in Fayetteville, he ate his way through the entire menu, and even eventually got special not on the menu dishes. I let him do the ordering, and he let the kitchen do the choosing, which is the thing to do here. We had oxtail in peanut sauce served with a yam dish, and goat and vegetables served with yam. After they realized that I could take a little heat, they brought out two sauces to accompany things that would be the way they would eat it. The spicy ginger sauce was phenomenal. We had also had that with fried yucca. You could tell that the dishes were prepared with care and intention. While not gourmet, or gourmand, the food was solidly, delicious, fresh, attractive, and complex. I will be going here again and bringing people.

Their ox tail is 10/10- the chicken is also 10/10 and the beef….. you guessed it! 10/10 I never thought I’d love a veggie empanada but here I am writing this review. Though i will say the chickenken empanada was my favorite ❤️ I’m so glad this place opened!

The best new place in Fayetteville! They are open for lunch till late dinner. A bit pricey, but you'll have 2 meals out of it because of the portions. Win win. The jollof rice was perfect, stunningly perfect. The oxtail was the most flavorful thing I've had in a long time. Also, the chicken was moist and seasoned. We also ordered the skewers. Due to supply issues, the lamb was not yet available but the beef with the spicy seasoning was excellent; more of a dry heat than make your mouth burn. They opened less than 2 weeks ago so show some grace as they work out the kinks. There are gluten free options and vegan options. Even if you've never had African food this restaurant is a good place to start to try something new!

The customer service is great, unfortunately I was not happy with my food. I paid almost 20 dollars for a vegetarian plate which should have come with a side and main vegetable plate ( vegetables/Soya Chunks Bell peppers, Cauliflower and broccoli) instead I was given two helpings of the side ( Jollof Rice and Mixed veggies). Also my mixed veggies had a burnt after taste.

No one answers the phone!!! Starting off very bad. How do you have an establishment with no contact information or either a bad telephone number??? Just take down the emphasis on customers being able to call in an order because you KNOW you don’t respond to phone calls. False hope!! Nevertheless there is Point One African Restaurant that always answers. I will conduct business with them.

Owners were super friendly. Had the Nkate Nkwan and Fufu and it was just so good. They seemed surprised that I wanted to try the fufu, but trust me its totally worth it.

A lovely, family run establishment! The food is amazing, fresh and the portions leave you full. It’s great for dinner or a lunch date with coworkers downtown. The family is super nice, and the service is always prompt. The owner is very community conscious and loves to host events. I’m going for an African Film Festival later tonight actually and I’m very excited.

Stopped here for dinner on a road trip with my son. Was fairly late and it's possible that they stayed open a bit after close to accommodate us, but they never mentioned it at all. We talked with the family that owned the place and they were just the nicest, sweetest people you'll ever meet! Food was fantastic as well. If I'm ever back in the area I'm definitely going back.
