Not for me. My Pad Thai noodles were overcooked/mushy and so was the wrapper on my spring rolls. Pineapple fried rice was also mushy and very very few teeny pieces of pineapple. Also very bland flavor. We threw out the Pad Thai and fried rice. Yellow curry was ok. Pad kee mao was good. Not very friendly. No smile upon arrival and no Thank you upon departure. Will not be back and do not recommend.

From the moment we walked in, the smells should have convinced us to turn around. My wife typically orders Pad Thai at Thai restaurants. Here it was not edible. The noodles were pink (not sure if that is a sign of authenticity or not) and the chicken had on “off” flavor. Our daughter in law ordered the same - and neither one ate more than a couple bites. The red curry was just ok. The service was slow. For a prime dining time on Saturday night, they needed more than one waitress. Won’t ever be going back to this place!

We used to go to Thai Rod Dee in Layton quite a bit, then it shut down for a while and we assumed (I read it somewhere) that is was under new ownership. We went tonight and they are actually not under new ownership, they were closed for a few months for renovations!! Everything is still the same! We ordered: Spring rolls:9/10 they were delicious and the peanut sauce was amazing Sweet and Sour chicken(mild heat): 9/10 fresh, veggies and the portion was large! Thai Basil with chicken(extra heat) 10/10, super spicy in the best way, also large portion and the veggies were cooked to perfection Red Curry with chicken (extra spicy) 11/10 SO good, I have tried other curry'sand this one is always superior. All meals came with jasmine rice and are large enough for a second meal! The service was amazing and so friendly,there were a lot of to-go orders so they were really able to focus on us and a few other people in the building. Definitely will keep this restaurant in our regular rotation again 🤤

Don’t let the exterior fool you. I missed out on this gem for years because it looks a little run down. Food here is amazing. They do a great job spicing it correctly, and it’s very flavorful. The people working there are very nice as well. Definitely my new go to Thai restaurant

The place is small, which makes it cozy, but they had only one person seating customers, waitressing, and serving. This made it hard to get their attention for drink refills, as they were always rushing to the next customer or grabbing a food order. Despite this, the food is delicious.

Ok, I doordashed from this place, But I had to come to Google too and leave a review. I ordered the Massaman Curry and a Thai tea and it was delicious! The portion was very generous. I've lived in FL, IN, TN and now UT. Many times I'd feel like the portion and quality wasn't worth the money, but, Not with Rod Dee's. I'm very satisfied with my first time and look forward to trying other items on their menu, But, I vouche for that massaman curry. It was fire!

What a find! Came here on the suggestion of some friends from the area and will definitely be coming back. We enjoyed the Pineapple Curry, but we were floored by the Pad Me Korat. I've never had Pad Me Korat and I've never seen it at another Thai restaurant. If you go to Thai Rod Dee (you definitely should) do yourself a favor and get the Pad Me Korat-- it's like a more flavorful Pad Thai. The folks running the joint are super nice and friendly, very attentive. So glad we found this place, we will be back!

We generally get takeout because our grandchildren are little. Orange chicken, Green Curry, chicken fried rice, dumplings, ALL delicious!

I had the Pad Thai with shrimp and my friend had Mango Curry. We have gone there a few times before and have always enjoyed the food and have had great service. The curries are all gluten free as is the Pad Thai. Our server said they could also make a few of the other dishes gluten free.

My second time here. First time was dine in, and this time I ordered takeout. This is good Thai food! The service is fast and friendly. I've had their noodles and their curry and have been pleased by both! The portion size is great too. The restaurant has a great vibe. More of an old-school Asian restaurant. The staff definitely care about the quality of your experience and it shows. This has become my go-to for Thai food in southern Davis County!

Excellent and fresh food. The lunch special was a great value and quickly served. The place is a hole in the wall for sure and could use a total makeover, but the food was well worth the dive atmosphere.

This is definitely a tasty Thai treat in Layton. The massaman and pineapple curries were delicious. The spring rolls were super hot and fresh! The service was also kind and very understanding of our three small children. They have a lunch special between 12-3, Monday-Friday.

Thai Rod Dee is a woman owned business and it is the most excellent thai food! I love the noodles and my companion got the curry.

Don't be off put by the outside appearance, this place is GREAT! I stopped by on a work trip after reading a few fantastic reviews and I'm so glad I did. Not only is the food presentation beautiful, each dish is so flavorful I was in food heaven. Pineapple curry was SO GOOD. The spring rolls were on point, and the mango sticky rice is a must! The service was just right and they were so friendly. A great choice if you ask me.

Lunch at Thai Rod Dee in Layton. I can’t get past how much it needs cleaning, organizing and an update. It’s very dated and tired looking. The food was good but not amazing. I got the fresh spring rolls and they were fresh. Not a fan of the thick peanut sauce. My chicken basil was good and the rice was too. My friend got the pineapple curry and liked it. It’s on the lunch menu and it was about $13 with tax. I do love the bright color and freshness overall. Service was ok. I know a lot of people love this place but it’s not enough to make me want to go back.

Love this place, love the staff! I get the chicken fried rice with extra veggies and cream cheese wontons + Thai tea and it’s my favorite meal I can get out and about these days. Everything else is cookie cutter- this place stands out. They also serve a lot of food so I always get days worth of food for me that’s where it’s at :)

I've tried 3 different Thai restaurants in the area in the last month. Thai rid Dee definitely leads with the best food! You could taste the rich flavor variety of Thai cuisine in every dish. We got pineapple rice and chicken Thai basil. We also got mango sticky rice for dessert. Legit!!!!

I ordered the Tom Yum soup. I specified Shrimp instead of Chicken, and they gave me just shrimp and broth…. I paid $20 for Shrimp and water. I called and was told that in the future I should call ahead to be more clear about modified orders. Must be the least authentic Thai place to sell Tom Yum this way. It’s is litterally defined as a hot and sour soup with tomatoes, mushrooms, lemongrass, and Shrimp. No galangal either!! Would not recommend 👎

Over price! Spring rolls ok if you want 1/2 head of lettuce wrapped in rice paper green curry was good. The sweet and sour chicken sucked. The egg rolls were really mushy on the inside. I don't think we'll be back!!! The staff was very nice.

The food was blah! I had high hopes based on the recommendations of friends and family but I was unimpressed. Prices were high so I expected more. I was sadly disappointed.

the food was delicious. I tried red curry chicken, basil Thai, yellow curry pork, shrimp spring rolls and stir fry noodles. All were amazingly good. I'll go back.

Street basil chicken was pretty good! The egg was the best part. The owners are very kind and gave us Halloween candy since no one else was there. The place is a little older, but it adds to the atmosphere.

Great food but getting a little pricey at $17 for pad Thai on a Saturday. They also need to fix the crater in their parking lot!

I have driven past here wondering if it was open as the outside is dated and the front windows are not part of the seating area so no lights. I stopped in for lunch. They do offer lunch specials with chicken. They were able to swap out the chicken for tofu. I had the pineapple curry that came with rice and an egg roll. The curry and rice were great. Bell peppers warm and crunchy. The egg roll was super oily so i did not eat all of it. It comes with a nice sauce. I did order spring rolls and they are good, lots of lettuce and the peanut shipping sauce is good. Could use some hot sauce or chili oil. You need to ask for that. I will definitely go back. Good price and nice serving size.

Don’t let the old building scare you off. The food was fresh and delicious and the service was friendly and fast. We had the pork pot stickers, cashew chicken and chicken pad Thai. Everything was hot and wonderful. Will be back!

Its one of the only places to get a decent bowl of Kao Soi. Owners and staff are wonderful and always take great care of our family.

I tried this place 5 years ago when I moved into town. I always get curry at Thai restaurants but the curry is sweet. If you go for curry get mango or pineapple that are supposed to be sweet. The rest of the the items are really good conditionally. This restaurant is 10/10 or 4/10 depending on the cook. I tried it a few days during the week after having a great experience then I was really disappointed. The recipes are great I think, it's just who is cooking the food. Update: after the response from the company, the recipes are great, it's just who is cooking the food. One day great meat in your food, next day meat that is so overcooked that you can't even eat more than a few bites. Honestly after my really good experience I wanted to go back and try each item because they look amazing and if cooked right I'm sure they would all be awesome. Update 7/10/2023, the price of food has changed, 18 dollars for rice and curry for one person is ridiculous (pre tip). I like to support family run businesses but I'm not rich enough to eat here anymore besides the lunch special which is still pretty expensive and less than half the regular amount so you'll still be hungry. I'll be making my own curry for my family of 5 for less than the one order from now on. Full lunch special is in the picture and not even a full bowl of food

Too delicious! I’m new to this whole Thai food world and have tried a few so far and Thai Rod Dee is the best in Davis County! We had the yellow curry medium heat and the massaman medium heat and they both were off the hook! Definitely will recommend this to everyone!

Don't let the decor scare you, this is some of the best Thai food I have tasted. I highly recommend the curries.

My wife loves Thai food. We found this place which isn't the nicest looking but the food is amazing. She loves the Massaman curry. I got the sweet and sour chicken stir fry. Both really good. The cream cheese wontons are so so good. My wife likes the egg rolls. I'm just not a fan of egg rolls in general but she said they were great. Give it a shot.

While the parking lot can use a lot of repairs, the restaurant is excellent. I've been there once and the food was excellent. The service was good too. I recommend the pumpkin curry, phad Thai, and Thai basil. I will definitely return.

We ordered food to go. The staff were friendly and gave us updates as we waited for the order. We ordered a variety of Currys, pad thai, drunken noodles, cream cheese wontons, fried rice... it was all very good. Good taste, some had a touch of spicy but most of the food we ordered wasn't spicy. All delicious!

We like to go there for their lunch specials. Really like the Red Curry. Don't let the building deter you from going in. Good food, good service. They do take it also,, which we have used during the pandemic.

I took my wife to lunch at the Thai Rod Dee again. We don't go out to eat very often but when we do it is often to the Thai Rod Dee because it has such great thai food. We ordered the Laab from the dinner menu and shared it for a lunch. I paid an extra $1.99 to get a little extra meat added to the meal. The flavor was excellent and the amount of spiciness was perfect. We requested 2 stars and it wasn't too mild and it wasn't overpoweringly spicy. The building is a little run down but the food is amazing! There is a sun room attached to the front of the building that the owner used to keep closed off. Business must be doing good. They've opened that area up for overflow seating now. FYI, the beef salad is not the same thing as Nam Tok (beef waterfall). It is more of a "salad." Last time we went we both got lunch special curries. Their curries are very good too. I especially like the panang curry.

Oh, yeah...real, authentic and flavorful Thai food. I would have said "cuisine" but there is nothing about this restaurant that is hip nor chic. The inside and outside are clearly dated. The place is clean. The owner is quite pleasant. But the food is out of this World "goooooood." Prices are quite reasonable and between that and the food you'll be coming back. I know we will. And given we hit a lot of the best Thai places around NYC this is not to be taken lightly.

Definitely not impressed by this Thai food restaurant. My husband's food was so salty! We had to chase down someone to help us EVERY step of the way from sitting down, ordering, having them make my husband's dish again, to paying for our meals so we wouldn't miss our movie. After reading all the great reviews I decided to try this cozy joint 😋. The Tika Masala and Pad Tai were delicious!! Service was great, restaurant was clean and the food was soooooo yummy!! I will definitely be going back for my next Tai craving. ;)

We order from here a lot as it is close by. The food is great! I love their pineapple rice and pad Thai. We get the coconut soup and curry a lot also and they Thai iced teas! I would recommend this place! The only problem we have ever had with this place is that we don’t always know when they are closed... we have showed up a couple times to order take out and they have had signs on the door saying closed till further notice or something similar. I grabbed dinner in the way from work back to my hotel. Don’t let the outside appearance scare you away because the food and service are great. I had the pork larb which includes sticky rice. It was a large portion and perfectly seasoned for medium spice. Everything tasted fresh too. Prices are average. Kids are no problem.

We were a little apprehensive about this little old restaurant, but trusted the reviews and took the plung. Pumpkin curry?? I'd never heard of it before. It was AMAZING. It was listed on the "special" board, not on the regular menu. My wife's Massaman and our spring rolls were also exceptional.

Ate here recently and loved the Thai food. Very authentic. I recommend Yellow or Red Curry Dishes. We also had sampler appetizer platter that was very good. Restaurant inside was clean but very dated and could use updating.

Two words: khao soi. Yes, they have a Northern Thai dish you don't often find in Thai restaurants, and it isn't half bad. If you haven't tried khao soi, make it a point to visit Thai Rod Dee and give it a try. The basil stir fry was delicious, and the jasmine rice fresh and moist. Service was quick and friendly even though the restaurant was busy. We didn't try the lunch specials because we saw other customers were getting them and the portions looked very small. What we got from the regular menu was reasonably priced and more than enough.

The parking lot was full. We ended parking over at the next restaurants parking lot There was plenty of seating inside. Ordered egg roll which were only ok. We were only half way through them when my wife's main course came. Mine did not come until she was half way through hers. Her Curry was good, but ordered at medium hot was a little to spicy. I ordered the special Kaput with extra pork and medium spicy. It was very bland. I like giving fives but for me this was only a three.

Friends suggested Thai Rod Dee. This was the first time eating there. From the outside it lools like nothing special. We all ordered a different plate from the menu then shared it so we could sample lots of different dishes. They brought out a big pot of white rice and then the different plates. Our table for four was not big enough for all the food. I can honestly say I liked every dish they brought out. One piece of caution though. If you have a nut allergy be very careful as most dishes seemed to have cashews or peanuts. The service was good the portions ample and the food terrific. The only reason I did not give five stars was somehow the waitress did night right write down my order and forgot to bring it out until we reminder her. That being said, without hesitation we will eat there again.

Don't let the appearance of the restaurant deter you from trying the wonderful food at this restaurant. We really like the pumpkin, panang and pineapple curries. The fresh rolls are some of the best I have ever had. This is our new favorite Thai restaurant.
