Picked up a mini (4") raspberry champagne cake as a birthday cake. The person at pickup was kind and helpful. Cake has been amazing and I look forward to future cakes! As a person who hasn't always liked cake because frosting can feel too sweet and too heavy, this cake converts me back to a cake lover. The flavors are wonderful and the frosting is smooth and rich (but not so rich that it just sits like a brick in your stomach!) and actually adds to the experience. A lovely dessert to help celebrate a birthday (or any occasion)!

We hosted a small wedding at a local airbnb. The team at baked lab was amazing through all the planning. Despite being a smaller affair you can tell the team went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect. 10/10 would recommend.

The Baked Lab put together the dessert table for our wedding, and the desserts were everything we had hoped they would be! The macarons, shooters, and cupcakes were devoured by our guests and hardly anything was left over, despite ordering well over what we expected to be consumed. The wedding cake was beautiful and delicious. We froze a quarter of each tier just so we could enjoy more of it during our 1-year anniversary celebration. The staff was helpful and professional, and the presentation was amazing! Easy 5 stars – we’d recommend TheBakedLab for any event and especially for an event as important as a wedding. I would recommend The Baked Lab to everyone. Our desserts were not only amazing on our wedding day but even better the day after. Shawn worked with us and we even had cinnamon rolls on our wedding day. Our cake fit our vision perfectly. Please see the photos below of him and his teams excellent work. No one went hungry that is for sure. My husband and I are patiently counting down the days until our anniversary so we can have more cake!!

We chose The Baked Lab for our dessert needs for our wedding of June, 2024. We knew Shawn was the one from the jump, the cake tasting and flavor options were perfect, and getting to chat and know him was (pardon the pun) the icing on the cake! Day of, our guests wouldn't stop commenting on how good all of the bites were, and Shawn's recommendations for quantities were perfect, just enough for us to take home and enjoy the next day! Don't think twice before choosing Shawn and The Baked Lab for your next event!

We were looking for Brownies for our wedding dessert and thank goodness we found The Baled Lab. They were wonderful and so easy to work with! The brownies… to die for!!! It was so hard narrowing down which ones to choose for the wedding. We also got a small Salted Carmel cake which was delicious and exactly what we wanted. We can’t wait to find another reason to work with them and get more delicious desserts.

Our office came in for a baking lesson. What a wonderful treat. Shawn was fun, friendly, and all around fantastic. What a great teacher. We will return for more lessons and goodies.

We first met Shawn at a wedding expo in January 2024. We were still in search for a cake, but we planned to go with a local grocery store just because it seemed “normal”. Boy am I glad we didn't do that! The cake samples blew us away and we were then followed by excellent customer service! Not only was our wedding cake beautiful, but it was absolutely delicious! We did opt to go with the red velvet cookies and cream. I personally am not a big cake eater, but this was SO good as it wasn’t overly sweet. Absolutely nailed this recipe! Thank you The Baked Lab for making our wedding cake for our big day! (Flowers provided by our florist - but we were offered to get decorations)

The Baked Lab is so versatile: cakes for special occasions, classes, croissants and more! You can find their baked goods (cookies, brownies, etc) at local bars like Delta! Love their Saturday pop up pick ups! So good!

Shawn made our wedding cake so we knew his baked goods were amazing. We ordered from his Saturday Pop Up for my sister-in-law’s bridal shower and his morning treats were the perfect addition to our brunch feast. His croissants were the buttery flaky goodness you dream of for dipping in your cappuccino, and his cinnamon rolls left our guests speechless. Can’t recommend his pastries enough, and look forward to the fun croissant flavors he comes up with.

We got the Banana Hazelnut Crunch for our 2 year old’s birthday party and it was amazing! Everyone loved it! They were also very helpful when I wanted to make sure I would have space for my topper and when I asked for chocolate drizzle. I will definitely be ordering from here again ❤️

We ordered two cakes (one was a smash cake) and sandwich cookies for my daughter's first birthday. We were absolutely delighted with how they turned out. The cakes were beautifully decorated and everything was delicious. Everyone at the party was asking where they came from. We will definitely be ordering from here for events in the future. We ordered a 3 tier cake for our wedding and it turned out amazing! The owner worked with us on the design and it came out even better than we imagined. We received numerous compliments from our guests on both the look and how great it tasted.

We ordered our wedding cake and rehearsal dinner desserts (macaroons) through from The Baked Lab and had the best experience! From the tasting, to ordering, to design, to delivery, Shawn's passion for baking and desire to deliver a beautiful memorable experience for every cake really comes through! Our guests are still raving about how amazing everything dessert we had from them was and how beautiful our cake was. We can't recommend Shawn and his team enough and our whole family is already looking for other celebrations to order cake from them for!

Shawn and his team did amazing on our wedding cupcake bar! Not only was it beautiful, but all night people were asking where these cupcakes were from because they’re so tasty! The flavor profiles had a great variety and Shawn is so talented in his designs too. Shawn was wonderful to communicate and work with too throughout the planning process. He was clear and collaborative about what our vision/expectations were and he by far exceeded them. Would highly recommend Shawn and The Baked Lab for any occasion you want yummy treats at!

Is there anything they CANT do at The Baked Lab? Cookies, cakes, macarons, birthday tarts, the list goes on! Loved our most recent experience learning how to make macarons. Besides the good vibes, you’ll get a little education in the science behind it all. 10/10 recommend!

Im not sure if we just got a bad batch based off all of the 5 star reviews everyone else had but my fiancée had bought an Oreo cake they offer for my 24th birthday as a surprise and it was quite disappointing. He had picked it up the night before and gave it to me early in the morning the next day and the cake was extremely dry, dense, and crumbly. It looked very nice and pretty there’s no doubt about that, but as far as the taste the Oreo tasted stale, frosting was really thick, kind of like clay, and the actual cake was dense and dry. It looks good in pictures but doesn’t taste like you hope it would. Honestly would rather have a cake from a grocery store bakery that’s light and fluffy compared to this one. Like I said, not sure if it was just one bad batch but this was my experience.

The Baked Lab was such a pleasure to work with! We decided to do a small cutting cake and it was beautifully decorated as well as so so delicious. We also did an assortment of macarons, shooters, and shortbread cookies and I cannot say enough about how good everything was! We got so many compliments from our guests about the desserts and how good they were. Highly highly recommend The Baked Lab for any event!

Do not even bother trying any of the other cake shops in Madison. The baked lab is by far the best place to make your wedding dreams come true. Shawn and his team are amazing and truly made the wedding dessert table of our dreams. Everyone at our wedding couldn't stop raving about how good the desserts were thanks to the Baked Lab Team!

We had a great experience working with Shawn on our wedding cake. From the moment we met him at our tasting we knew he was the right baker for us! Everything he let us sample was very delicious. We ended up going with a three tier cake with the Salty Chocoholic, Lemon Pie w/ Salty Cookie, and Tuxedo flavors. All three were a hit with our guests The aesthetics of the cake were also very important to us, and he listened to everything we said while adding his own style and flair. It was also seamlessly delivered and set up at the venue. 10/10 would recommend.

Booked Shawn for our wedding and had a wonderful experience! Everything looked and tasted amazing and he was very flexible with our off-menu dirt cups request. We got a ton of compliments on both the cake flavors we went with (Banana Hazelnut and Cookies and Cream). Highly recommend!!

From the tasting to the final cake delivery, The Baked Lab was incredible. Shawn really listened to us and was helpful even when we had a hard time explaining what exactly we wanted, and when we needed changes or advice, Shawn made sure everything was right. We sampled a few cakes and The Baked Lab had the best experience and the best tasting cake, hands down. We ended up with a champagne cake with raspberry but there wasn't a single flavor that wasn't incredible. Our cake came out beautifully and the guests gushed about how delicious it was. The delivery was smooth and very well thought out.

Shawn made a tiered cake for our wedding and we loved it! The Baked Lab has the best tasting frosting we tried from Madison area bakeries. I don't like a lot of American buttercreams because I find them too sweet but his frosting is perfect. The modern cake designs are also unique for the Madison area and was exactly what we wanted for our wedding.

Shawn made some delicious cupcakes for our wedding (salted caramel and lemon raspberry) as well as a small and scrumptious peanut butter cake just for us to cut for photos! The guests enjoyed them and we caught several sneaking back up for seconds and even thirds, which were more than happy to oblige! I highly recommend booking Shawn for your wedding or event needs! He was really easy to communicate with, provided great recommendations for the amounts we’d need, and the best part…everything was delicious and beautiful!! We had a small cake, macarons and cake shooters and they were almost entirely gone at the end of the night. Tips for brides and grooms: make sure someone saves you a plate of desserts so you can enjoy these treats the morning after :)

Every time that I have a wedding with The Baked Lab, I get SO excited! Not only is Shawn a great communicator, but an absolute artist. I dream about his cookies & cream cake on a daily basis. Guests are always in awe and the cakes really are showstoppers. In all honesty, I cannot happily eat any grocery store cakes anymore - solely because of Shawn, hahaha. The Baked Lab is the best around!

I ordered the wedding sampler box to be my birthday cake this year :) I love Shawn’s flavor combinations, and that each cake was perfectly baked, moist, and the frostings so smooth and not overly sweet. Ordering from Shawn was an excellent, delicious decision, and one I plan to make again in the future.

When we got engaged, one of the first things we decided on in our planning efforts was that in addition to a traditional cake, we would serve whoopie pies at the reception. However, finding a baker to deliver on this vision proved harder than we anticipated, until we found fellow New England-raised Shawn and the Baked Lab! Shawn was easy to work with, flexible with our travel schedules and changing flavor profiles, and provided a beautiful, delicious cake and whoopie pies that could have come straight from the East Coast! We absolutely loved working with the team at The Baked Lab. When we were starting to meet with bakeries for our wedding, Shawn invited us to his baking space to get to know him and pick up the samples. He was very friendly and we loved getting to know him and the story of his business. The wedding cake samples that they provided were very generously sized and all the flavors were absolutely delicious. Throughout the planning process, Shawn was very responsive and easy to work with. He worked to understand our vision for the day integrating our style and colors into the design of the cake. We decided to order a cake for our immediate family and the bridal party and then cupcakes for the rest of our wedding guests. The delivery process was very smooth and the dessert table was absolutely beautiful. The cake and cupcakes were such a big hit and everyone thought they were delicious. Baked Lab did an AMAZING job with our wedding cake. They accommodated our schedule through the planning process, and were so easy to work with. I highly recommend!

I was invited to Sean’s cooking class with a group of family members. I was exhausted and I missed the opportunity. When they returned I was able to taste amazing creams puffs. They melted in my mouth. The outer light crust and inner cream was excellent. I was amazed how delicious they were. I observed.the sheer joy of their experience. I’m going to look at his website and see what other cooking classes he offers. At was a win, win experienc for them.

Shawn was a delight to work with for our wedding desserts. Chill and laid back. Very enthusiastic about our cake. We did a small cake with a dessert table. He's fairly responsive, transparent with pricing, and is not hesitant to let you know where you can make your desserts more affordable. He has a lot of options for desserts and everything I've had has been excellent. We would recommend ordering sweets from him for any events you're hosting or just because you want to treat yourself. We unfortunately did not get to see him the day of our wedding, but everything was great. We noticed the cookie sandwiches and lemon pie cupcakes were wiped clean first followed by our various bars (such as brownies). Give Shawn's portfolio a look. He definitely has a more sleep, modern look and does not go heavy into themed cakes... But as you cane tell with our cake, he is willing to exercise his creativity muscle and experiment. What a great experience we had at my daughter's wedding in Sun Prairie. The Baked Lab provided the wedding cake and a beautiful spread of cupcakes. I can't even put into words how amazing the cake and cupcakes were! Thank you, thank you for making their day extra special.

I recently worked a wedding where Baked Lab was hired to make the cake, cake shooters and macaroons and to say it was amazing is an understatement! The cake Shawn created was absolutely gorgeous and it tasted just as good as it looked. Leading up to the wedding communication and planning was easy I would highly recommend Shawn for any couple who needs a bakery for their wedding!

Sean is ridiculous talented and great to work with. We've been ordering cakes from him for a few years (birthdays, our wedding, and just for fun). We have tried the say moah, salted caramel, champagne vanilla caramel and a few other flavors and they're all delicious.

I've taken a few learning classes with The Baked Lab. The classes are fun, not too hard for beginners, and the food is always delicious. Highly recommend!

Being an avid baker myself, I knew that when my fiance and I got engaged that the cake was going to be an extremely important element of our wedding day. I had been following The Baked Lab for well over a year before we got engaged and knew that I wanted a cake from them if they were available on our wedding date. From start to finish, working with Shawn and his team at The Baked Lab was an absolute dream. The tasting process was easy, convenient, and delicious. We were able to pick exactly what we wanted and adjust some elements to make custom flavors without issue. Shawn and his team are remarkably talented, creative, and professional. My husband and I hired The Baked Lab for our February 2023 wedding and we could not have been more happy! Everything was so much fun (and tasty) from the initial consultation to the tasting to the wedding! We felt like Shawn communicated very well with us and answered all our questions in a timely manner. We actually were having a hard time finding a cake vendor for months - we knew we wanted a beautiful large “traditional” cake and when we saw pictures of Shawn’s work we were sold! Our cake had a modern shape with our wedding colors splashed across the front and it turned out 100x better than even the mock up sketch we were given! It truly was a piece of art in our ceremony space. After we booked The Baked Lab, we had multiple vendors tell us “oh and those cakes TASTE good too!”, something that I guess is hard to find with wedding cake artists! Our guests raved about our cake after the wedding as well, something i know I’ve never personally done with desserts I’ve had at other weddings. There were unique flavors to choose from and all of them were super good, it was almost hard to narrow it down! Could not recommend this bakery enough! We can’t wait to use this place for future cakes and desserts.

We recently order the Brownie Cookies with Toasted Marshmallow and Cinnamon Roll Cooking Sandwiches for our son’s birthday party and they were a HUGE hit!!! So delicious and the perfect dessert for the birthday party! We will definitely be going back for future events ☺️

Shawn's baking classes offer a lot of great information for bakers of all levels! If you've never picked up a spatula, start here! If you've baked your way through several cookbooks, you'll discover techniques and hands-on tricks you won't find in an online blog - not to mention delicious treats to take home at the end of the day. Shawn walks you through all the steps and what I really enjoyed was how he doesn't just tell you what to do but he clearly explains the "why" of the science behind the process. I have taken the Macaron class and the Choux pastry class, and they were both fun-filled learning labs.

Loved this experience! Shawn is down to earth and makes you feel comfortable asking questions. I look forward to trying the recipes on my own. I will definitely be taking more classes!

Absolutely amazing! Our wedding cake was beautiful and delicious. It's so delicious, you'll still be thinking about it days later.
