Open on Easter Sunday! Serving food and 🍦 ice-cream. Food is basic American surf and turf fare, 🍔 hamburgers to "laubsta" rolls. My family and I with friend came for you scream, I scream we all scream for 🍦 ice-cream! I had German Chocolate Cake, Das Gut, my son, chocolate and my friend, she had a sundae with black raspberry. We enjoyed ourselves. I think 🤔 they had WiFi available, which makes my daughter happy. Sea Salt Caramel Truffle was good! To save $, buy the gift cards! They are adding 25% to the cards on each purchase. It helps with the current inflation. For 🍦 ice-cream, I recommend this franchise. I haven't tried the food yet so I have no opinion. Toll House Cookie 🍪 and mint & regular chocolate chip and rum raisin 🍦 ice-cream were good! Good amount of parking 🅿️ since they are in a plaza. Seasonal outdoor seating available.

The Beach plum is by far much better than Browns poor quality that they get away with! Well let me tell you, my food was so perfect and more plentiful and I didn’t feel uneasy like Browns greasy food they threw on a plate and you taste it 3hours later and wish you didn’t eat there in the first place! So please go to the Beach plum and enjoy New Englands best freaking Seafood plater, that will blow your mind on how good it really is to be able to enjoy the quality they serve you! Enjoy.

Went for just the ice cream so can't comment about the food. Ice cream was amazing. You get more than your money's worth lots of good flavors. My only complaint, the plastic spoons they use aren't strong enough to eat the ice cream. the spoons tend to bend and flex and almost break as you try to scoop through the ice cream

Honestly you don't come here for the atmosphere. But it is super NEW ENGLAND, I personally love it. ❤️ and my goodness the scallops and clams were absolutely brilliant. The batter is so clean, the oil clean, the restaurant clean. Simply a lovely spot. Beer selection is.... kind of mid, and the tap wasn't working for the 603 beer I wanted to try but, that doesn't take away from how good the food was.

We stopped here after our beach day looking for fries and ice cream. It was very busy inside, which was no shock. But the staff was super responsive and working hard and fast. Was very impressed by that. Plenty of seating inside and out but inside was very loud. The bathrooms were clean but there was a long line since it was single stall. We were excited there was no sugar added ice cream options, and it was very tasty. Our chowder was very thin but tasted fine. We will definitely return.

This was a lucky find! After our nightly run on the beach in Rye ran late we searched for a place that was still open (w good reviews). The clam chowder was delicious and served hot (rather than warm). The sweet potato fries were amazing. They were thinly sliced and perfectly seasoned. Additionally the amount for the price was really great. Wanted to try the blooming onion 🧅 but it was sold out so we’ll be going back soon!

We've been going for years and enjoyed it until the past 2 years. Every visit has gotten worse. The food is just not good any more. We pay to much food not to go somewhere the food is always good every visit. The blooming onions are either raw inside or the middles aren't cut out so it's impossible to eat. The lobster rolls are never good and fresh anymore. Just not worth the $$ or extra time to go.

Price, Food, Simplicity, Atmosphere and Service is always consistent everytime I go. I know what to expect and is simply my favorite place for seafood, sandwiches and ice cream! Worth the small travel for me and never had a reason to give anything less then a 5 star review! Thanks!

Stopped for lunch there today. I was looking forward to having my first lobster roll of the season. I ordered the 5oz roll while my girlfriend ordered a cheeseburger. We sat outside as it was a beautiful day and waited for our meals to be brought to our table, which they were fairly quickly. I have to say that was probably the worst lobster roll I have ever had. The lobster was dry and virtually tasteless and the roll was stale. The large portion of sweet potato shoestring fries that accompanied my lobster roll were somewhat overcooked but tasted ok. On a positive note, my girlfriend said her cheeseburger was very good. My next lobster roll certainly won't be at the Beach Plum. I've had much better at that famous fast food joint.

My husband & I went last week after being told how good the food is. He ordered a pint of clam strips, a very generous pint arrived. I ordered the Grilled Cajun Salmon dinner, so moist. Not fancy, our food was excellent!!

Nice assortment of different food for everybody. Whether you're a seafood lover or not. Can't go wrong with the lobster rolls! All the food is good but also can be a little bit pricey. Not saying that about this specific location, anything that's going to be in the seacoast areas of New Hampshire and Maine is going to be pricey as of the past 2 years. But also good size portions and reasonably priced though. Want to really push the envelope? Get the 20 oz lobster roll!

We went to the Portsmouth Beach Plum for dinner. Wr had the seafood platter and it was VERY good. Generous portions, extremely fresh seafood. My wife and I shared it and it was plenty. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. All in all It was a great experience. Thank you.

Ice cream was good. Service was horrible. Ordered a chicken tender basket took over 30 and when I went to go check on it they told me they gave it to me which they did not. I had to show my receiot multiple times before they finally gave me my chicken which at this point had been sitting on the counter for ten minutes. When I ate the tenders they tasted like they were cooked in grease that needed to be changed.

Cashier was horrible, the soft serve tasted horrible. They said that they had already hand my food out . They were confusing to another order with mine . The cashier was eatting spooning ice cream out of the pint and eating , well at register . Will be never going back

Waited 55 minutes for a lobster roll bowl of chowder and haddock and it had been sitting on counter for 15 minutes very unorganized

We have been going to The Beach Plum, Portsmouth for 12 years and have seen a marked difference in the food in the past 9 months or so. We went a couple of days ago, my husband ordered his favorites...a small bowl of clam chowder and a haddock backet. The chowder had been diluted, one small piece of clam, mostly potatoes. The haddock tasted like the cooking oil was old and needed changing badly. The tartar sauce used to be the best in the area, this was terrible. My lobster role could in no way be called the best in the area. It seems to be getting worse. Even the outside has gone downhill.

The staff is amazing!! And i needed help with my food choices because of allergies and they were quick! At making suggestions and helping me choose whats best!

We have been going to Beach Plum for years. Some food items are great, others so-so. You truly represent the Hampton Beach area and are always a stop on our trips. We have now retired in Maine and come back monthly to Beach Plum. Todays visit has changed our minds. The salad looked like some fast food takeout in a plastic container and my grilled chicken was cold. Most importantly, the tables are filthy & sticky, the cracks between boards on the round table are filled with gross food droppings. The first time we saw this last month, we thought they had just not cleaned that day, but today we saw the same thing. It will be the reason we don’t go back!

I go for clams every birthday and am never disappointed.

They had a valentine day special. It was a seafood plate with 2 chowder and 2 drinks at a great price. The food was served fresh and hot. As far as my 2 star rating for service, it is ridiculous to ask for a tip for an employee that is not a server and earning a regular wage, and we had to get our own drinks. A tip is decided AFTER a meal, not before you get the food.

This place used to be top notch. Even though it is very expensive, it used to be worth it. The service was top notch, very professional and always plenty of workers available. Wow has it gone down hill. Workers are always brand new, young, seedy, totally untrained and unprofessional. Tonight is my last visit, no more!!. Cashier doesn't know how to do a gift card. Then his phone rings over by the lobster roll table. He actually goes and gets it, puts it on speaker while he's struggling trying to process my gift card purchase. He then has me sign the cc receipt. I sign it, then he realizes he made me sign the customer copy not the merchant copy. Then I make a purchase with the gift card. He writes the cost of the order on the back of the gift card instead of the balance. I ask him to fix it. He does. I can't read what he writes. He takes it back and states I can't write at all. He tries writing the balance again. He can't even read what he just wrote. He covers it with another sticker. And tries again. Fine, it's fine I tell him. I would strongly recommend that you do not go to this place. I know I certainly won't. It's very expensive, like you might expect at a high quality, sit down restaurant. The quality of the experience is just too frustrating and poor to justify these prices.

Good variety of menu choices, Buffalo Chicken Wrap, Clam Strips Dinner Plate and with Hand cut fries WoW all I gotta say their food is so delicious. If you haven’t tried their food yet you definitely should. Staff was friendly, Amazing food, very reasonable prices. Definitely highly recommend... :-)

While seafood can get expensive fast the Beach Plum gives you your moneys worth. Food tastes great, atmosphere was inviting and overall it was an enjoyable experience. All their locations are worth a visit!

I ordered onion rings and chunky lobster bisque. The onion rings used to have thick cut onions but these were not, and had too much batter. The only lobster in the lobster bisque was the ends of the claw meat that you don't eat, and the bisque was bland..a small bowl for 11.99! The prices have skyrocketed and the food has gone way down hill.

Yesterday I had a less than satisfactory experience at the Beach Plum, Portsmouth, NH. My wife and I each had the Clam Basket (23.99). The clams were the smallest I had ever seen in any restaurant that I have ever been to. The bellys on the one's that had one were virtually non-existent. The bellys had a top and bottom string attached. I should have returned both baskets when they came to the table, but for some reason we ate them, without complaining to the staff. Shame on me. If I were management at the Beach Plum, I would have returned the clams to the seller for not being a proper clam for a meal. I think from now on I will eat at the clam restruants on Route 133, Ipswich and Essex. They are outstanding. The Beach Plum has been getting poor ratings over the past year. Guess I am now a member of that Club. On a positive note, the french fries were very good.

Just one visit to this place and I know I will never go back. On 7/30/23, at about 2 pm, I placed my order at the front counter and went to my table to wait for my order as I was instructed by the cashier. My order was brought out to me and immediately I saw a strand of hair was mixed in with the fried shrimp and scallops. I advised the lady who was working in the dining room of the hair in my food. She apologized and offered to ask the kitchen staff to cook a fresh plate of food for me. About 20 minutes later, she returned with what was supposed to be a fresh plate of food. However, at first look it was obvious that it was NOT fresh food. First off, the food color was extremely dark. A clear indication that my first plate was just double cooked in an attempt to deceive me. Secondly, the same strand of hair was still present on the plate. Nothing was changed. Upon finding the same strand of hair, I took the plate back to the front counter and spoke with the manager directly and pointed out the strand of hair and asked why would he allow this type of poor customer service. He seemed extremely uncomfortable and embarrassed and yet offered to have "someone else cook my food". Someone else?? This means the manager approved of this action and he thought that it was appropriate to treat a customer this disrespectful way. He never once stated that this behavior was outside of company policy. He seemed rather inconvenienced that I called out this nasty practice. It was at this moment, I knew this would be my first and last time at this restaurant.

Our Airbnb host recommended this for the best lobster roll in the area. She said the seaside location was better for ambience, but we got lost and ended up at this location. The lobster roll was amazing, just full of delicious lobster, and the toasted bun was soft. The ambience does leave a lot to be desired. It's the most I've ever spent on a meal to sit in a cold restaurant on a picnic bench. LOL But the food made up for it.

This place is a gem. I always wanted an authentic lobster roll from somewhere in New England and I finally got it. It was everything I wanted and more. Scallops and clams were terrific too. Will visit again when I'm back up this way. Thanks yall.

Visited the Portsmouth location. The staff was excellent (including the manager :) ). My wife an I shared the seafood platter which was plenty big (with leftovers). All items (clams, scallops, shrimp, haddock and fries) were 5 stars!!!! One of the best platters we have sampled and at a reasonable price. Will be back again. Thanks Beach Plum for an excellent dining experience.

Many, many different flavors of ice cream. Very large portions. Staff friendly, unfortunately, they mixed up our order and a bit slow.

Skip ALL the other, over-hyped, overpriced and under portioned seacoast seafood spots. Portsmouth Beach Plum is where the locals go for terrific food with great portions at a great price. Dining area is kid friendly, but skip the noise...drive to the beach and eat in the car with views of the Isles of Shoals, instead. Best of both! Pro tip; buy the gift card with the 25% bump. Win/win!

Some of the best seafood around with generous portions. Definitely good quality seafood. Also so many ice cream flavors and topping to choose from. Great for the whole family for sure.

The Portsmouth location has gone way down hill. Clearly they are very short staffed - on Labor Day Weekend no less! And those that are working are not properly trained. The scant portion of clams (for $27!) were almost inedible, rubbery and fried in old oil. Lobster (for $37!) was tasteless, and pretty sure it’s frozen meat - yuck! Sorry, you’ve lost my business!

After 7:30 pm barely any food left - went there expecting a good experience - no clam chowder no fries. A bit shocking as Labor Day weekend is a popular time, should atleast be stocked the last summer weekend of the year.

Food is still great. Amazing actually. But the cleanliness of the place is plain disgusting. It was right when they opened in the morning that we went yet, the bathroom garbage was filled to the brim. Dirt, dust and old food bits layered throughout location. Tables had food all over the table and seats.

Heard lots about the Beach Plum so today was the day to give it a try. It was a late lunch but many tables were still full and people were nibbling morsels off their paper plates. Everything was throw away utensils and paper. We asked if we could have something beside deep fried and were told they could grill our order except for the clams. Well, it seems we got poached as the shrimp, fish and scallops never touched a hot surface. Well we left with disappointment and a strong desire to find something made to order.

My family and I went here for a quick ice cream after a day at water country and they were great fast friendly high quality ice cream good service next time we're in the area will probably stop in would definitely go back again the fried seafood looks amazing

I don’t k ow when the food went downhill but I was there 8-6-23 I paid $210.00 for the “famous” Lobster rolls both cold and hot and they were TERRIBLE! VERY DRY!! Sorry beach plum but you need some serious training for the cooks! Not worth the money! Plenty of places to get a lobster roll.

I would like a manager to respond to this review with your contact information. Here's what happened: we ordered $100 worth of food from Takeout and when we got home a half hour later and opened it up both lobster rolls were extremely dry, the one with butter was also hard as a rock. It was like they deep-fried it, or some thing it was all rubber, so I called and asked to speak with the manager and "Elle" said in the background that she would 'just take the call' I told her about our meal and she told me she didn't believe the mayonnaise one was dry because it was "heavier mayo than usually all day" I don't think she sounded very manager like. Usually a manager wouldn't doubt a customer especially one that has been giving business to this location for the last several years.

I moved away from the seacoast 17 years ago, didn’t realize there was a beach plum on Lafayette Road. Went in with my wife last night, expecting what it used to be down on route 1A.., when we went inside there was a young girl working at the register leaning on it like she was sorry that she had to be there helping us. We asked if they make their own clam chowder, she continued leaning on the register and said I don’t know, how can you be a part of a restaurant, and not no basic information. I proceeded to ask what do they make from scratch, again her response I don’t know, with the look of a deer in the headlights. She walked over to another person and came back with no answer, we decided to order just a lobster roll… Which their online menu states a complete different pricing. I firmly believe if you were going to have employees working taking orders for food,They should have a lot more enthusiasm and a smile on their face, or just go home also they should know the product. End of discussion. We decided to go to Al’s seafood in North Hampton, And had a great dinner. I will not step foot into beach plum ever again. There are many many other options, BJ’s boathouse the icehouse, Gino’s, the list goes on.

Saw an ad on FB several times , I was near so decided to stop. They had very good food. Whole belly clam roll was lightly battered and had plenty of clams. Tartar sauce was served on the side and just enough taste but not too overwhelming. It was served with a bag of chips which were too salty for me. Chicken tenders were large, lightly breaded a moist. Fries were slightly seasoned but not too much. All food was hot and fresh.

Re- evaluating my review from 2020 -- Their lobster roll is dependably top-notch. The best roll I have had all year. All the elements are there, and I do love the no-nonsense mayo-dipped meat on a perfectly toasted bread roll. (Nature never intended lobster to loll in a bed of lettuce or celery, that's just a scientific fact.) I love the fact that they have sizes. The six-ounce roll is generous, more lobster than the usual roll at most places but at the same price. But I'm definitely going to go back soon and order the eight. Oh yeah, they have other stuff on the menu, but I couldn't tell you why.

This place was pretty good. I had heard wonderful things about the beach plum, so on our way home from Maine, we decided to stop in. They had pretty good social distancing practices. Some tables outside, doing takeout as well, one way entry and exit to the building, and socially distance tables on the inside as well. We ordered a fisherman's platter to share. Definitely big enough to share by the pictures and the way that the gentleman described it to us, and two sodas. They had it brought to our table since we were sitting inside. The food was really really good. The flavor was great. Everything Was cooked on point. My only downside? We didn't get a lot. On one fisherman's platter we got eight fried clams. Six scallops, for shrimp, and a large piece of fried fish. And a heaping mound of french fries. I feel like there should be less fries and a little bit more of the seafood, I pay extra for that. Just a thought though. Will still go back.

DO NOT GET TO-GO ORDERS FROM THIS RESTAURANT!!! You have to watch out for this place because they will screw you over on delivery orders. I ordered clam chowder, shrimp cocktail and lobster mac and cheese. Guess what never showed up? That's right sports fans! The most expensive item ordered, the lobster mac and cheese, never made it in the bag. Not to mention when I called and spoke to the so-called manager, all she had were piss-poor excuses why it wasn't sent, insisting it's not her fault the on-line menu wasn't updated in a timely manner. Her excuse is when the order was placed, it was picked up incomplete too quickly and that's why they were refusing to provide a refund. Here's a suggestion - if you can't get everything ordered made, call the customer before you send it out for delivery. This so-called manager states I now have to fight it out with Uber Eats which is the service they deemed worthy to deliver the food they serve. Of course, getting a refund from Uber Eats will be near to impossible so I guess The Beach Plum's policy feels it's OK to screw over the customer in Portsmouth NH. Way to go Beach Plum!!! Way to steal from your customers, not to mention Customers are the only reason you have a business in the first place. Can't be for the food because you don't bother to send it out for delivery.

I went here last Friday with my family and it was horrible I ordered fried lobster and got a scallop plate as soon as the food came I told them and they simply did not care and said I was charged for scallop plate (which was more) I said to the server that I did not want scallops and had never even said the word scollops and she said well that’s what she rang in needless to say I did try a bite of the scallops but they were fishy also bathrooms were flooded and ceiling was leaking in dining room wet trail of bathroom leak was tracked thru most of the dining room gross!

My friend bought a $50 lobster roll that was over cooked and dry. I had bought the chicken tenders expecting from a past experience for them to be great except they came out burnt. I was very disappointing this whole visit.

Stopped here for lunch a couple of days ago on the way home from Maine. Really good food, from the chowder to the delicious clam strips to the 8 oz lobster roll. My only thought is I wish the 8 oz could be divided onto 2 rolls, without having to pay more for 2 4- oz rolls, as it was spilling out of the bun. Pleasant setting, clean bathrooms, and great food. Who could ask for more?

Had fried clams at Beach Plum in Portsmouth this evening. Over-cooked, greasy, horrible. Wish we would have taken them up and got a refund!

Food was awful under cook everything looked over cooked, portions were incredibly small, the onion blossom wasn't full cooked, and they take 18 days to charge your debit

Buyer Beware. Got the fisherman’s platter and the haddock basket. The waiter said the fisherman’s platter would have haddock. It did not. It was cod. To boot, the haddock basket was also mixed with cod. Only got a few pieces of actual haddock. I know it was cod because I am a fisherwoman. To pay for something your not getting is not right.

Everything we come here the food is amazing. Everything is fresh, good size portions. There is something for everyone on the menu. The only downside is how uncomfortable the seating is. The only option is picnic tables, some only have 1 board.

This place has the best seafood in Portsmouth. Particularly recommended are the lobster bisque, lobster chowder, clam chowder, and not-to-missed baked beans. Lobster rolls are excellent as well. This is before we even get to the ice cream!

Took my mother there for Mother's Day. While busy, and difficult to find seating, it was worth it. The food was excellent, the clams and scallops were sweet, not chewy, and the haddock was cooked perfectly. Even the fries were crispy and well-seasoned. The staff were friendly, professional, and courteous. Highly recommended.

It's fine but quite pricey. I wish that nearly everything for seafood there wasn't fried, but MOST things are. Having MORE baked options (more baked selections) would be nice. I will reiterate. There are NOT MANY baked options on the menu. They are very few. Most everything is fried here. Ugh! Hey, and don't hey forget that they microwave things in the back kitchen. Things aren't always fresh, but rather are frozen. 😞 It's a hefty price tag to pay for microwaved items!

Went for a ride to New Hampshire and saw so many signs for this restaurant I decided to try with my wife. Fast friendly service, clam chowder mostly potatoes, clams plate left a lot to be desired, very greasy would not go back.

First ice cream run at the Beach Plum this season. BP never disappoints! Food and ice cream are superior. ;). I would like to have given 5 stars, but sadly the service earns a 2. Perhaps more training will correct this problem.🤷🏻‍♀️ Chocolate walnut fudge is the best around, trust me, we are ice cream snobs!
