AMAZING FOOD!!! WONDERFUL FRIENDLY SERVICE! WE WILL BE BACK BEFORE LEAVING TAOS.

We arrived at 8:50 on Saturday morning and they didn’t come to take our food order until 9:25 as we were leaving. They did get us coffee and came back and checked on us multiple times, but they kept telling us they’d be back to take our order. We finally got hungry and frustrated enough we decided to go around the corner to get breakfast.

Stopped for brunch. The service was amazing and the food was even more amazing. I spoke with the chef who told me how he made the pancake syrup from scratch! OMG! SOOOO GOOD! Super great place, can't wait to go back!

Chef Michael crushes breakfast - the biscuits are my personal kryptonite. The scrambled eggs with blue corn tortillas are a close second. Sorry. Not sorry but we slammed down the breakfast before thinking to take a picture of same.

This restaurant was a bit dissapointing. The crowd that was hanging out there seemed a little rough (swearing, heavy drinking) the night we were there with our 2 children. There seemed to be a lot dust too that triggered my allergies. The airline chicken dish was delicious! The seats near the fireplace seemed a bit nicer but not much for views.

Three of us had an absolutely fabulous dinner at the BBTavern Friday evening. The tavern was very cozy and the staff attentive to every detail. I recommend the salmon, but my son had a most amazing filet mignon... and the calamari was some of the best I've ever had. Based on the dinner experience, I tried a Goldilox Bagel at the Cafe the next morning and was blown away. Apparently the bagels are homemade and are really amazing! I guess I will be back every morning I'm here trying a different bagel combination... Oh, and try the cappuccino - perfection!

Among other things, we'd ordered 2 Veggie Bear bagels and 2 lattes (I'll come to the lattes later), one with chive schmear and one plain. When we got the food, it was both chives. I can't stand chives so I went to the counter (no one was there for a good 3 to 4 mins). Then when one of the baristas came to the counter I told her. She didn't apologize or anything and on top of that said disbelievingly that "My ticket had both chives". I insisted politely that no matter what her ticket said, I'd asked for plain. She brusquely took the bagel from my hand and threw it into the garbage bin. Of course, no one was going to eat it, but it was evident from the way she took it and threw it that she didn't believe me and was irked that a paying customer was asking for what he'd already paid for. How dare he?! Later, another barista (the one who'd actually taken out order and who later admitted that she mistakenly entered the wrong order) gave me the correct bagel. Meanwhile, not seeing any work being done on the coffee front, I asked for our lattes. It was pretty evident that they'd forgotten about it. The nicer one made one and gave it to me. Due to the earlier bagel snafu and also the reminder I had to give her for the coffee, I asked if she had another one coming. To this, the one with the bad attitude replied in a condescending tone, "We can only make one at a time, sir!" I told her that her attitude was unwarranted. I was going to further explain that their earlier snafus were why I was making sure, that's all, but my wife stopped me. After all this, the one with the bad attitude says to me "We're all doing the best we can sir, it's Christmas Eve." Well I appreciate that it is Christmas Eve, but that doesn't give you carte blanche to be pissy towards your customers. It also is not that you're doing your customers any favors, you're working there of your own free will. I would avoid this place if I could help it.

We went for breakfast and ended up coming back twice during our trip. Food was great and the location is so nice! The only thing that could be better is the coffee.

I asked for tea to drink. Hot and cold were listed on the menu. The waiter said, “That’s not an option tonight. They forgot to send us some.” Not off to a great start. The waiter brought our food, very large portions, and said they ran out of the big bowls to serve them in. So our large pasta dishes and chicken were crammed into a dog bowl. The small bowls were overflowing and it was difficult to eat without making a mess. But the table next to us was served with big bowls just five minutes later. Additionally the chicken was dry and overcooked, the pesto sauce was just some olive oil w specks of Cale. Wasn’t worth the money.

Best dining hands down in Taos Ski Valley. Service has been consistently good during my several visits this season. This is in a ski resort town where dining options are limited and service challenges abound at other establishments. Not great for large groups (> 8), given their small dining room. I strongly recommend reservations as demand is high and they have a limited sized dining room. Bar scene is very good, and can be quite lively aprés ski. I eat here every time I’m up.

“Fine” dining? That would at least imply better than the mediocre, expensive, terribly drawn-out process of getting dinner here. My party of 4 was seated at a very uncomfortable high-top table at 7:30 and we didn’t make it out of there til 9:10. The server only stopped by our table every 15 minutes or so and had to be told we wanted to order food or refills on empty water glasses. The hot chocolate tasted like it was just a packet with water added - the Bavarian has a much better recipe. The service here was exceedingly slow and inadequate. There were only 4 other parties there but when our food came out, it was one dish at a time as if the kitchen had no clue our 4 dishes went together… so the food was cold! The pasta was not very exciting either. The only redeeming quality of this restaurant was the hot caprese dip, which was delicious… but OF COURSE only came with about 1/3 the amount of bread you’d need to eat it as a dip! When I asked for more bread to finish the dip, the waitress acted like it was a big deal that they would charge more for bread. I was like seriously… we’ve been out of bread and this dip has been getting cold for 15 minutes and you haven’t even walked by once. Anywho, highly do not recommend this place. Go to Taos Ale House instead! Eat their wonderful pizza. Blonde Bear is definitely a no-go.

The best dinner in Taos, right now. We had the kale and fennel salad, steak, and chicken saltimbocca. The steak was a little salty, but that was our only complaint. We enjoyed a very nice brunch today. Manager (owner) was delightful. Graciously took us to a cute table on the patio. We loved the small 100% impactful Menu! This is my second season at Taos Ski Valley and the Blonde Bear may be my favorite place for dinner on the mountain with 192 at the Blake a close second. I do remember having a good meal at the Bavarian many, many years ago when I visited and will need to get back there at some point. Tim's Stray Dog remains a local favorite, and many people enjoy the food at the Snakedance, particularly for lunch, but I don't love the atmosphere.

Decided to try the Blonde Bear on the recommendations of some other guests at the Edelweiss who raved about it. We expected some really great food but our meals were just average. We won't return, but YMMV. I ordered the sliced flat iron steak which was accompanied by a few small roasted carrots and a baked potato. The steak was small and barely warm, but flavorful. The carrots were fine but also just warm. The potato was microwaved, not baked, with a soggy exterior and nothing else besides some butter and sour cream on the side. The wife had the chicken pot pie which was just a small bowl of chicken stew with some puff pastry on top. She said the flavor was average but it was sparse on chicken and very heavy on large, unpleasant tasting mushrooms. One child had the beef over noodles which had big, tender chunks of beef. Another child had the pasta with meatballs. She said it was good, but instead of meatballs it was just a few small pieces of ground beef. Another child had the burger and fries which were both good, although they nickle and dime you for cheese or any other toppings. Service was friendly but overall the meal was just ok for the prices.

I love this restaurant! We have gone here over the last four years and went at the start of the ski season for a birthday dinner with our whole family and had an incredible meal! The staff especially John, Kerri and Sid took incredible care of us and I think it is the best restaurant in Taos ski Valley. Great dining experience. Popped in the storefront of cafe naranja, expecting a quaint coffee shop. Was led back to the dining room (which I believe is mostly used for The Blonde Bear dinner guests) and was pleasantly surprised.
