Brewer’s Art brews the best beer in Baltimore, full stop. Each beer is fantastic, and they actually have good variety even in a relatively small menu ranging from dark to light beers. The food is excellent and the vibes of the different rooms are all great for spending lots of time. Resurrection and Birdhouse are excellent, as is the burger.

The atmosphere, space, and vibes in this restaurant/bar are perfect for multiple moods. They have a formal dining area in the back, a relaxed bar in front, and a divey spot downstairs. The front of house service was very pleasant and responsive. However, the evening I visited, the kitchen was backed up a full hour. When I received my food (the beet gnocchi) it was bland and honestly quite bad. It was sauteed zucchini, corn, and tomato with the beet gnocchi. It had no browned color and no flavor. Like literally no salt or pepper. As for the actual gnocchi they also sauteed that which was fine, but yeah not what I was expecting. Could not taste the beet at all. To say the least this dish left something to be desired. I probably won't be returning, but maybe I'd come back for happy hour drinks.

Iconic Baltimore restaurant and brewpub. It is an obligatory stop on the local beer and food tour or just a great spot to meet for happy hour. It's close proximity to the Lyric and the Meyerhoff as well as many of Baltimore's other venues make it a perfect pre- or post-show option. Support one of the original Belgian inspired breweries in the country.

Excellent beer and tasty food served by very nice people. There are at least three different spaces here. The first, as you come in off the street is the bar. The next is a darker dining room (wasn't open when we rolled in at 4) and downstairs is a casual space. We didn't make it downstairs but we will next time. Their beers on tap are all top notch with the Resurrection (Belgian brown) and the dark lager standing out. We had a burger (monstrous in size, prepared as specified and juicy) with fries and schnitzel bites (crispy and served with a delicious aioli) to eat with our drinks and they were delicious. Based on the preparation, I bet the full menu is delicious. There is a very generous happy hour here where the drafts are reduced price and there are small bites and reduced price food items. We can't wait to come back!

My husband and I previously viewed Brewers Art as a staple in the neighborhood, until today….After having a wonderful dinner at the restaurant, we ordered dessert from their menu to-go. Once getting home we learned that the kitchen literally sent us home with an order of burnt cookies, which were black on the bottom and the top. We believe that it was intentional given that no one in their right mind would have served this. Absolutely ridiculous and poor service! Very disappointed!

After much searching in the Baltimore area for the right combination of ambience and great food/drink, we decided to host our son and DIL's rehearsal dinner at The Brewer's Art. It was the best decision we could have made. The ambience is just right... a little moody with beautiful original wood trim and low lights in a semi-private space. The menu was tailored to the season and offered an option for everyone. The food, from starters to desserts, was exceptional and drinks were perfect. The service was top-notch starting with our email communications with Volker throughout the planning process, to the waitstaff who were extremely attentive and anticipatory about our needs. I highly recommend The Brewer's Art!

Go for the beer, not for the food or the service. Went for dinner, party of two. Service was friendly but did not come by often, water and drinks sat empty for long periods of time. When we ordered a second glass of wine, the server brought a different (more expensive) glass. Now about the food. Pretzel and beer cheese was great. Hot roast beef sandwich was really bad. I've had better at Arby's. Meat was dry. Sandwich lacked the advertised "horseradish sauce." Had to ask for more and when the kitchen brought it they said "yes this sandwich needs more sauce." Cheese was nonexistent, and the bun was a sad wonder bread burger bun that I could get on a fast food hamburger. Would not recommend.

Excellent food and great portion size. I ordered the chicken schnitzel and was impressed with the amount of chicken and the texture on the breading. The mushroom sauce was also quite tasty. The anniversary beer (XXVII) was well done, nice and malty. They had about 6 beers on tap, all made in house. So, not an extensive selection, but solid. The building itself is a magnificent old structure with hardwood floors and high vaulted ceilings with nice detailing, but is a bit well worn. The main thing was, the vibe of the place was just kind of dead. It was a Saturday night and it wasn't packed yet had to make reservations. The basement bar wasn't very packed either. People watching wasn't the greatest, everyone was very subdued and not in a quiet romantic date kind of way. Great food, good beer, nice staff.

Update#2- 10/11/23 The folks at The Brewer's Art were exceptional this evening. Party of seven got to experience a truly lovely evening, with exquisite service and detectable food. Chicken liver pate was perfect, and the whole experience, despite the initial booking issue (which the Founder -Manager took to handling with immediate grace, transparency, and earnest integrity) was a fond and lasting memory that the out-of-towners will take with them, all the way back to England. Volker visited the table, very personable, and he went above and beyond to ensure that everyone thoroughly enjoyed the experience, which everyone certainly did! A splendid evening was enjoyed by all!! UPDATE 10/9/23 The following day- the Founding Partner/Manager reached out with a profuse apology email, explaining that that situation was mishandled and that they are using that as a coaching moment going forward with their staff- and while this may not seem like much- it's actually a huge step in the right direction. This founder/manager is taking the time to correct the mistake, deeply apologize and take ownership for it (stating and I quote- "but of course the buck stops with me, and I am so very sorry. This will be used as a coaching tool moving forward - what not to do under any circumstance!") Our out-of-town party of seven is absolutely willing to give them a second shot; they've been really transparent and wholly apologetic! Booked a reservation for seven only to receive a phone call about a half hour later, from the rudest, most unpolished "hostess" in the employ of this establishment, who told us they couldn't seat seven people. No reason given, just "yea, we can't do that." Completely unprofessionally, like a preteen child, "yaaah, we can't do that." When I asked where she recommend we go instead, she had the audacity to say, "oh you can still come in and all just sit at the bar." When I explained to this deeply uninterested individual that we were looking for a proper place to sit down for dinner, she again said, "no you can just come to the bar." I then explicitly said, "No I'm sorry, we are looking for a sit down dinner, not seven people scattered across the bar, since you're incapable of accommodating that, can you recommend another local restaurant?" And in her least interested voice, she said, "I have to go talk to customers now." And the phone call was ended. Clearly not a place in Baltimore worth spending money. Terrible customer interactions before you can even get in the door. It is OBVIOUS that they do not need additional patronage from anyone- PLEASE CHOOSE LITERALLY ANY OTHER LOCAL ESTABLISHMENT TO VISIT.

This looked like a nice place but we must have been there on a really off night. I think they were understaffed or something, we and every other table in our dining area had to wait extremely long times to be waited on, and for our food and drinks to come out. Multiple other tables just up and left after sitting unattended for more than 45 minutes. They were also out of many of their menu items, and their menu isn't that big. We all ended up getting cheeseburgers, which were good, but hey a cheeseburger is pretty hard to mess up.

Came here for an evening - with a reservation made two weeks in advance - with my wife, before a show at The Lyric theater. On-street parking was a bit of a challenge, but obtained after a multi-block search. The restaurant has a old-fashioned, natural charm and service was friendly, if not prompt. My wife ordered the Hot Chicken Schnitzel Sandwich and I had the Pan-Roasted Chicken. My wife thought the Hot Chicken sandwich was a bit too heavy on the cayenne but she finished it and thought it well-conceived and prepared. I thoroughly enjoyed the Pan-Roasted Chicken - unique and perfectly cooked. For beer I had their Crystal Rye Saison, which was fantastic. Too bad it’s impossible to find where we live in Virginia. Our otherwise enjoyable evening was marred by the inattentiveness of our server. It took 20 min to flag him down and pay our bill, and we were thus almost late for our 7 PM show at the Lyric. Maybe these good folks just had a bad night but this is clearly something they need to work on.

Brewer's Art is a fantastic stop for beer with solid offerings for dinner both upstairs and downstairs. 👍 The kitchen maintains some American classics on their menu at all times, but always has a few offerings that are pretty interesting or creative. My favorite thing I've eaten here was a pork belly + honeycomb dish down in the lower bar. The fries are super popular, but they're hit or miss for me - sometimes they are everything...or they are a over fried + under seasoned. Probs better during rush hours if you want them fresh. The formal area was our first foray into nice dining when we first moved to Baltimore years ago, so this restaurant holds a special place in my heart. ♥️ Brewer's Art is a staple of Baltimore. Honestly, I would just skip this place for another brewery. There are much better breweries around in Maryland. I had mixed opinions about both the customer service and food. I ordered the sausage platter and hamburger. The burger wasn’t really seasoned well and mostly tasted bland. Not much flavor going on even with the mayo. The sausage platter had decent sausages but nothing crazy. The best things that they had were the fries, but they were just slightly above average. A small menu wouldn’t be bad if the food was excellent, but that wasn’t the case. The customer service was mixed. The person who took our order was very curt and forgot to include a dish I ordered. The manager was much nicer though and was very polite in explaining what happened and why my food wasn’t served. The other staff seemed okay too, so it just seemed like the guy at the bar was not so great and quite grumpy. Overall, you are not missing out of you pass on this place. A solid 2 stars honestly but I give it three for the nice manager that was there.

We tried this place out on a Friday night. When we arrived around 9pm, it wasn't too busy. But when we left about an hour later, the bar area was pretty full and the back dining areas had gotten a few more patrons. I ordered the burger with fries, medium temp and my boyfriend got the mac and cheese and pot pie w/side salad. My burger was absolutely perfect and delicious. It was flavorful, moist, and had a nice grilled/smoky flavor. The aioli that came with the fries was really good but the fries by themselves were probably the top 3 best fries I've ever had. My bf didn't love the mac and cheese, nor the pot pie as he felt they weren't as flavorful as he expected. I tried both of his dishes and the mac and cheese was missing something, not sure what. But I thought the pot pie had a nice, typical, warm and cozy flavor. Every single server, host, bar tender, etc was kind, attentive, and friendly= amazing! The building the restaurant is in is beautiful and historic and old and awesome. One seating area had couches and I would love to eat some food on the couches one day. I mean, how many legit restaurant have couches?! Overall, I would recommend this place and will gladly bring my friends visiting from out-of-state. Although being short, the menu offered an eclectic array of culinary delights. My burger was cooked to the proper temperature. I’d highly recommend trying the rosemary fries! My dining partner was immensely pleased with his soft pretzel accompanied by two dipping sauces. I don’t like the fact that the bar had to hold onto my card while I ate dinner. I wanted to pay cash at the end, yet they ran my card anyway! Otherwise, this was a great dining experience.

The food was very good, but the waiter was VERY RUDE… That ruined my experience tonight.

The basement portion is a great place to get some beers and good food! The basement menu is limited but the options are all you need. Atmosphere feels like the whole basement is a secret hangout

Great pub to wet your whistle and grab a bit to eat. We shared the Philly cheese steak sandwich and tried different beers. Unfortunately they didn’t offer porters yet but will in the fall. Our waiter/
