Everything was awesome, minus the mixed drinks. The white russian was missing kalua and the screwdriver tasted like orange juice.

Not your average pub fare! There was a little wait, but it was worth every minute. Menu was full of variety and everything was delicious. No joke...the BEST Shepherds Pie out there (and we order it everywhere). Food is full of flavor. We can't wait to come back and try more of the menu!

Shepard’s pie was to die for, I’m now craving it constantly, 11/10

Fantastic meal in a cozy location full of ambience! This was definitely one of our favorite meals during our many travels. We can only echo the praise for the most amazing Shepherd’s pie (and we have tried many in many pubs in many states). Most “shepherd’s pie” are more of a cottage pie made with beef. This was a true shepherd’s pie complete with perfectly cooked lamb and paired spectacularly with a beautiful balance of root vegetables, also cooked to perfection. The steak was also seared exactly right, sealing in the amazing flavorful juices. We even found the mash and green beans to be well cooked and extremely tasty. I sincerely hope we have the opportunity to pass this way again!

They don't know the definition of the word "reservation." We arrived at our alotted time and was turned away by staff telling us who ever took our reservation was mistaken, and they had pushed another party in front of us. Can't comment on the food. I never got to try it.

We had a reservation for 7:30 and that seemed to be completely ignored in favor of just doing whatever they wanted

Brickhouse Run is just top notch. There's a nice atmosphere and best of all is the quality of the food! I've had the Fish 'n' Chips, Bangers 'n' Mash & Chocolate Pot (dessert) and were excellent. There are two rooms - a bar side with some tables and about 6 bar stools (which is always busy) and a restaurant side. And just an fyi, the food is not all British lol.

MUST TRY!!!! Best shepherds pie of my life. Our server Helen was so much fun and took amazing care of us. Atmosphere and ambiance are super authentic. Cannot get enough of this place!

Great experience, fish and chips were excellent, and the person I was with had the chicken, which was excellent. Good service and good food would recommended. Note if putting in GPS make sure The is before Brickhouse Run name otherwise will take you a creek in area and not correct restaurant

First time here. I had a great time. I'm feeling over full. HAHA! Had the brisket, salad, steak chili, and topped off with a creme brulee. Everything was delicious and loved eating everything. Can't wait to try something else when I come back.

Ive been twice in the last two weeks during my visit to the area. Both times were fantastic. Nice charming atmosphere, great food, desserts, and great personable service. Get there early though. Small dining room and bar. Well worth it. I had the special, black angus steak and banana bread pudding one night. Had the Shepards pie and pecan pie the second night. I hear the fall menu stroganoff is even better.

Food was outstanding. Had Shepherds Pie and it was the best I’ve ever had. Staff was attentive and friendly. Walked straight in at 5:30 PM on a week night but there was a line outside when we left. Plenty of free parking within a block or so. Highly recommend!

Lovely place with lots of charm. The staff was helpful and friendly. Classic pub food. My brother had the Shepard's Pie, my Grandma the Catch of the day and I had the lamb. Everything was delicious.

We hadn't been to The Brickhouse Run in at least two years and it's still the same great restaurant. The ambiance is welcoming and friendly, all with the feeling of stepping back in time to a local pub. The food is excellent - generous portions and interesting combinations. For our party of four (two couples), we shared the Ruben Chips - creative and delicious! Our entrees were equally tasty - fish 'n chips, pasta primavera, and Caesar salad with steak. Our server was lovely. When two of us regretted our selection of wine, she made an adjustment that started us on a wonderful casual dining experience. Definitely recommended!!

I was told this is one of the best places for real world class food. The menus changes with what the chef is able to get fresh and he does not disappoint!! Steak was the best I have had in virginia. The desert menus had us both doing pretzel bread pudding. OMG crazy good and easily would have been double the price in Richmond or more in DC. Worth the 1 hr drive. Over and over! Not just a "Pub"it's a menu to drive hours for! Yummy. Till next time!

Place was recommended by a coworker, quick service, warm environment. I recommend the duck breast.

Awesome second time at this place. The first time I did a take out order of Fried Oysters and Moroccan Lamb Meatballs. The oyster's breading was a little soggy and the meatballs were over done when i got home(I only live 15 mins away). However, that is mostly my fault because neither of those foods travel well. This time I did the dine in with the Fried Oysters and the Petersburger. The Fried Oysters were great as well as the burger. The only complaint I had was that the oysters were a little bit on the small side. I had the oysters, burger, and an old fashioned for around 48 before tip, so it's a little pricey, but well worth checking out if you're in the area. Just be advised that, some of the food doesn't travel well, and there could be a wait depending on the size of your party.

My wife and I decided to venture out to Old Town Petersburg for dinner on a Saturday night with the intent of trying The Brickhouse Run. We were not disappointed. We were greeted at the door with a smiling face who was very pleasant. We enjoyed a drink and lively conversation with some regulars at the bar while we waited for a table. Once seated, the waitress was wonderfully attentive. I had the butcher's special, which was a Waygu Ribeye that was absolutely amazing. In fact, it was the best steak that I have ever eaten, period. The entire meal was exceptional. We will be back. The Brickhouse Run will become our destination, especially when entertaining out of town guests.

I am baffled by all the hype. It was an interesting building, but beyond that, it was one of the worst meals I have had. I did try something new. However, the meat and cabbage I struggled to even cut bites it was so tough. Service was lacking. I ran out of drink for a significant period of time with no acknowledgment. I would always give a place a 2nd chance, but I don’t have much desire to go back.

Fabulous meal quaint pub atmosphere would definitely recommend. Will definitely try to get back there again when in the area. The tuna was phenomenal. My partner had the duck. She said she would have licked the plate if she wasn't in public.

Stumbled across this location when on a short trip to Richmond area. Beautiful old building with a lot of character and comfortable setting. My wife and I both got salad for dinner. Fresh ingredients, nice balance of flavors and taste. Highly recommend stopping by if you are in the area.

Always a nice place for dinner with family and friends. A queit atmosphere. Nightly specials and a nice menu that changes with the seasons. A good selection and several beers on tap.

Really enjoyed this pub style restaurant. Brought me back to my visits in England. Food was good and we really enjoyed ourselves. If you want the dining area (not bar) show up early.

I've been to this restaurant with my husband, my brother in law and sister in law several times .the staff is very friendly knowledgeable and very accommodating. the restaurant has the British vibe look for sure. I have to give praises to the chef because anyone who's vegan wouldn't go there based on the menu but don't let that stop you! the chef has always accommodated me and always made me a delicious vegan dish which some other restaurants simply can't or won't do. 5 stars well deserved!!!!

Great burger! Great servers! Bartender ruined it for me! It’s a shame she works at a very nice establishment because when I asked her for a drink before they closed she slammed the glasses and ingredients down on the bar and made me and my guests very uncomfortable! I guess she doesn’t care that patrons are coming in for a nice experience. If she doesn’t want to work why is she there? Not the first time this has happened and have heard from others they’ve had similar experiences!

A small work group met for drinks and dinner. It was very crowded on a Wednesday night. We waited for 30 or so minutes to get a table. The prices were reasonable but the portions were small. The price was reasonable but the food was nothing special. It is British themed so I would have expected the fish and chips to be amazing but it just wasn’t. And it came with frozen peas but they were not mashed. If they are going to go part of the way then go all the way and smash those suckers.

The owners were friendly and delightful! Chef brought the food to our table twice, so we got to chat a bit, his wife was the welcoming host! Everything was excellent and just a little different! Not the same old same old menu. The seafood soup had outstanding flavors, seemed to be broth and cream without those gloppy thickeners. The smoked pork belly and accompanying slaw was SOOO good, enough for 2 to share as an appetizer! Lots of bacon and interesting little touches on my romaine “wedge” salad & my husband loved his pork tenderloin with crispy Brussels sprouts (I’m not a fan but they were pretty decent) and parsnip purée And the crème brûlée was perfect! The waitress was very sweet and led us to the wonderful Buttery Baking House down the street for our next morning’s breakfast.

Had dinner here with a few coworkers after a conference. The restaurant has a great vibe and ambience. You can tell it's a popular place because there was a line outside before it opened! There is plenty of parking available nearby. The restroom was small and clean. Service was very slow so I am taking stars away for that. That said, my meal was delicious! Overall, a great little place to dine!

Great atmosphere, service and food. It gets crowded on Friday night, so we went early and were lucky to get a table. Only downside is they don't take reservations for parties less than six, but they were great about finding a spot for the four of us.

I'm from out of town and I'm working here for a couple weeks. I've been into the restaurant and bar four times. Each time I left a more than 30% tip. The last time I was in Amy, the bartender ignored me from the start. Not sure why. Even when I asked for drink her comment was it's going to be a while.! Initially I thought well it's busy and that's why. However Everyone around was offered a drink. Everyone around was offered desserts. No comments or eye contact at all. My tip reflected her atmosphere! Too bad the food is great. I'm sure I'll find another place to go. My minimum tip is 30% with good service. Her tip was an embarrassing amount for her! Returned after several months. Different bar tender. Service was outstanding! I had the ribs. Unique approach to baby back ribs. Enjoyed them thoroughly, would highly recommend them. Really good atmosphere with very nice people. The owners are present and pleasant. I would recommend this for some of the best pub food you'll find anywhere.

First off this is a solid 4.5. The food and service is excellent, parking is really non-existent in this area but everything in the area is wonderful. You need to get here early or you might not get in.

Best burgers in the area, but they have more really good items in a 200 year old pub. Best fried oysters anywhere.

I walked in to have dinner alone as I came into Petersburg to watch my son’s football game. The restaurant is owned by a lovely couple who both ensure to engage all patrons, and on this night the wife welcomed me to the bar and immediately made me feel at home. I had delicious Gimlets and was introduced to a nice bodied red wine. The melon and ham salad was light and wonderful and my main entree scallops with creamy risotto was delectable. I went back the next night with my son. Best food and hospitality in town! I will always come back here when I am in town!

Both the food and service were excellent

The food was exceptional. I ordered the quail and really liked it. There is also a good beer selection. My three colleagues also praised the food. Since the four of us ordered different entrees, your chances of getting something really good are really high. The staff is super friendly. Only "negative", this is a small place so you may have to wait a bit before being seated. But it is worth the wait.

We really enjoyed our dinner date here. Very cozy, friendly atmosphere, excellent food and drink choices. Our server was amazing; she was such a sweetheart! We will definitely be back again. 🙂

Went on the recommendation of a local B&B owner (Ragland Mansion, highly recommended!). We're really glad we did. It's a tiny and very authentic English pub. There was a wait for a table but it was a Friday night, so not surprising. We got a drink at the bar and got a table in about 15 minutes. Katie was our server and let me tell you, she is the livin' end. We loved her. She was so friendly, fun and helpful. I got the fish & chips and they were delicious! Hub got the roasted chicken. Aside from it being a tad dry, he said it was good. The prices were reasonable, the food was good and the service was great. I highly recommend Brickhouse Run. Just a great place.

I typically don't like complex recipes, but the recipes Chef Drew creates are freaking amazing. This place is a diamond in the rough. But to everyone reading this, don't make it too busy because I need my table!

I really wanted to like this place, I follow them online and see them post great looking food all the time. However, it was v hit or miss when I went. The pimento cheese app was amazing, but the fish and chips I had were soggy. I think the breading is so thick it traps a lot of grease, a part of the breading wasn't even cooked thoroughly.. I tried the bread pudding for dessert and it was so dry. The creme brulee my friend order was burnt also but he said the burger was great.

Having grew up in Colonial Heights, I always find it amazing when I come across a business I've never frequented. BRICKHOUSE RUN is that place. Amazing atmosphere love the British Pub look. I went with the Steak Frites ams we had two apotozerd for the table Rueben egg rolls which were mh favorite and the rarebit wixh was good as well. The wife had the catch of the day which she loved and my son had the pub burger. Wow the food was just the best I've had in a long time. Service was good as well. Kept the drinks flowing and the food came moderatley fast with a busy Saturday night rush.

Wow! 3 of us came for dinner. All three meals were excellent! I had the Shepards pie and I’ve never had such a good shepards pie! I will be coming often!!

My wife and I had an amazing experience at The Brickhouse Run tonight. I had been wanting to give them a try for quite some time and I'm glad we finally went. Outward appearances seemed on track with the traditional British pub that The Brickhouse Run is modeled after. When you enter, that vibe carries throughout the interior as well. It's not a huge restaurant, as you'd expect from the Old Towne Petersburg historic buildings. Half of the restaurant area is dedicated to the pub/bar and the other half for the dining room. Hostess and waitstaff were very friendly and attentive during our entire experience. The menu had plenty to choose from with traditional British pub food like Bangers and Mash, Fish and Chips, etc. as well as interesting seasonal fare like Duck a l'orange and Acorn Squash with optional protein add-ons. We started with the Sweet Potato Perogies which were essentially a savory sweet potato and cheese "mini pie", less like traditional perogies but definitely tasty. I then elected for the Duck a l'orange while my wife chose the Petersburger. I tried a bite of her burger which featured the typical lettuce, cheddar, and bacon but also a unique onion jam and pub sauce that really set it apart. It was delicious. My Duck a l'orange was perfectly cooked and amazingly tender and surrounded by a great sweet potato puree and a delectable helping of Brussels sprouts. The experience was really amazing. If there were anything worth acknowledging as a downfall, it would have to be that the dining room was chilly. We ultimately chalked that up to the older building though. All in all, great date night spot and we'll certainly be back.

The Petersburg Burger had high recommendations, and Brickhouse delivered. Our group of 7 enjoyed dinner and a few desserts. Quaint location settled in a historic zone. Parking is limited so choose wisely.

My husband & I went here for dinner. An authentic old bar. We ate in the dining room. Food was delicious. Bangers & Mashed & Wagyu beef & rigatoine. Our server Jess is so pleasant, cheerful, attentive. Her recommendations were perfect.Grerat Find

My B&B host recommended this place and as she stated it is a favorite of locals. As a previous reviewer said, "most of the customers were locals who were frequently greeted by name." I sat in the bar area and it was very crowded. Service was friendly and prompt. I had the butcher's special, a steak with broccolini and mashed potatoes. Everything was excellent. The veggies were fresh not canned as someone else states.

I visited The Brickhouse Run for dinner with my wife and brother while in town for an event and it did not disappoint! I ordered the Steak Frites, my wife ordered the Butchers Cut (ribeye steak) special, & my brother had the Crab Cake special. We all loved our food. We all agreed that the Steak Frites were the best, I would definitely recommend trying this place and trying the Steak Frites.

Food was good, we each had a burger. Server was nice and friendly and the decor inside is nice. I would return if I come back to Petersburg.

Me and a co-worker had lunch as part of a large tour group, we both had the Petersburger and it was absolutely delicious. Cooked to perfection, moist and seasoned just right. Will definitely be back for another one. Support your local small businesses they are the backbone of your community.

This place is awesome! Whenever we’re visiting the area we have to go here!! The atmosphere is great (feels like you’re in London or Dublin). Amy, at the bar, is amazing! She’s very genuine, friendly, always welcoming with a smile:) Not only is the menu terrific, but the food is absolutely delicious!! The “Petersburger” is one of the best burgers I’ve had anywhere! (Guy Fieri should check this place out!) Very memorable! We’ve had many different items on the menu (as well as daily specials) and we’ve never been disappointed. (The beers are good, too!) Go, go, go!!

Quaint hole in the wall Irish/scottish pub. The food was decent though they used can vegies instead of fresh which took away from the meal a bit. Would have been really good with all fresh ingredients. Nice place for a non chain location.

Visiting from NJ I challenged our friend Denice and Chris, to take us to the best non-chain burger place. This was the place and it was the best burger ever! Apps were great (Irish nachos) and dessert awesome. Great atmosphere friendly servers. Can't wait to visit again.

I’ve never tasted a bad bite at this quaint little pub! The atmosphere is always friendly and inviting, and you can always tell that the servers enjoy what they do. I was so happy to see that Scotch Eggs were on the menu, as I didn’t recall seeing them when I last visited. They were delicious and the mustard was the best! The Black & Blue Chips were also amazing! The Bleu Cheese fondue on them is a real WINNER! They also serve local Richlands ice cream which is a real treat!

Hands down the place to be in Old Town on St Patrick's Day. The music was great. The people were awesome and the corned beef and cabbage and potatoes were exactly what I needed with my beer.

Let's just say FANTASTIC! Sweet place to spend St Patrick's Day! Great Guinness Beer, live Irish music, friendly.....people and the food was GOOD EATS. IF you're ever in Petersburg VA. make it a point to eat at this restaurant...
