First time here. Coming back for ice cream.

This was my first time to try brown house. Ordered my cheese burger everything husband ordered double cheese burger deluxe. Got the order and the sandwiches were wrong went back in to get it fixed and they just switched the buns and said there you go. The burgers were cold asked for my money back and they were not very pleasant with the way they did so.

My wife and I first visit! The cook guy needs to learn to read the order and make the food the way it was order. Also lose the attitude. I order a cheeseburger with everything and double cheeseburger deluxe the two options they offer. Deluxe and everything one of each to try their suggested dressed styles. You would think their burger cook would know the toppings included with each option. Both completely backwards and missing toppings. Go back in to get them to fixed the fix switch the buns around not adding the missing toppings. Now I have burger that is mustard, ketchup, onions and pickles only now covered in mayo the other was mayo lettuce tomato only now covered in mustard and ketchup. How does this make sense? We go back in the ask way they now cover each other sauces and cold the burger cook raises his voice and talk down to my wife and call her a liar. The try to put the burger on new bun and make us take the after asking for a refund. After processing the refund the money was NOT handed to us nicely. I did keep the veggie basket and soda I could imagine the food is good but the customer service makes it the worst food in the world and not being able to try my burger because the hamburger cook had an attitude problem and couldn't make them properly. Who will ever know if the food is good here with that kind of service.. Remember word of mouth is the best advertisement and I will make sure as you can see I do a lot of reviewing that this experience is know.

A small custard shop with delicious food. The family got burgers and I tried the fish. The milkshakes were a hit! All were freshly prepared after we ordered. We came hungry and left full.

I’ve been going here for years and i’ve never had a complaint for the brown house. staff is always great and food is always fresh. I understand every other fast food is doing the tip thing now, it’s nice to get tips. But i feel peer pressured to tip when you go from handing me a device and asking versus a teenager looking me in the face and asking me if i’d like to tip today. It’s not that i don’t have the money and or appreciate the service. It’s that many people like me have high anxiety and won’t be able to say no to that. I did end up tipping, that i did not want to do. I feel like the device is a much better option to ask for a tip.

I am not real familiar with this place, yes it has been there since for ever and yes I grew up in Pleasant Lake but as an adult I have only been there like maybe twice. So food is great as always, but there was an awkward moment at the window gues I didn't know what I was supposed to do, I didn't know which side to go to lol

5 years ago when I left the original review until now, the brown house has definitely changed, as does everything when it switches ownership. A family favorite has always been the fried califlower. You used to get alot more for less money. I think the last time I went, we got about 5 or 6 in an order. I understand the costs of everything has gone up and in order to run a business, you have to do what you have to do. I was just sad to only get that many. 😞 lol The brown house will still always be one of my favorite places to visit when I visit my grandma in Auburn. I did get the fish sandwich last time I went and it was fabulous! I had never had it there before. And of course the coney dogs are better than coney Island, in my opinion. :)

Fast and friendly. Ice cream and coney's are amazing.

Fried tenderloin was great. My daughter like her cheeseburger. We finished our meal with sundaes. Delicious. No dine in, but the weather was fine to eat on their patio. A little drive off of I 69, but well worth it.

Food was 10/10!! Sundae was amazing !!! And the customer service is better than 90% of restaurants in town !

Winton went in got two blueberry milkshakes then put the blueberries in it All they did was put blueberry juice and that was it and they didn't even fix my son's when we went back in for $9 each ain't worth it couldn't even taste it

The Brown House is a staple of Auburn, IN that's been around since I was a kid (now 48). Known for the usual dairy treat fair, shakes, cones, etc. As well as burgers, dogs, and coneys. Now open year round, with daily lunch specials. Two drive up lanes, it's a must. Food is made to order, so it's not the fastest drive-thru if you're in a pinch for lunch but it is tasty. Can't go wrong.

Ordered food to be delivered, and was still hungry after spending $20. 5 whole fried mushrooms. Coney dogs are tiny and totally not worth it. Won't eat there ever again.

On our way to Pokagon State Park from Indianapolis, stopping in Auburn to visit the Duesenberg Museum coincided with finding a place for lunch. The Brown House is just a few blocks away from the museum offering drive through, dine-in, and outside seating. Since we had our dogs, we sat outside despite the chilly April weather. We went old school with our order: burgers, fries and a malted shake. Everything was made to order so was fresh, and hot or cold, as expected. The cheeseburger basket was $9.75 (with more than enough fries for 2 people to share), and the cheeseburger alone $5.75, so our total bill without tip came in at just under $23. Fun, non-chain, local experience with the “drive-in” piece fitting well with our automotive museum visit.

This was so overpriced, I am stunned. 5 whole mushrooms and a coney dog that is barely 5 inches long. The total was $15. You can get a steak dinner for the same cost.

The worker preparing my food today was going back and forth between texting on his phone and using his unwashed hands to prepare my food. Absolutely disgusting! For the health of your future customers I hope the workers here review their safe food handling practices.

The best coney dog I've ever had, I definitely recommend if you're in the Auburn area! Also, all prices are tax included, so if you have 10 bucks, you can get 10 bucks worth of stuff, no extra math needed.

Heard great things about this place, so I asked my husband to get me a shake with extra extra cookie dough; and all I got was vanilla ice cream or vanilla shake, no cookie dough flavoring just plain vanilla soft serve. I understand being busy, will try something different next time

Cook was extremely rude. Not sure what's so stressful about flippin burgers for a living to make him start yelling at me, I would never eat there myself now I never doordash there again either.

This is still as I remember it. The coney dogs are classics. The new ice creams are a wonderful new addition to the traditional menu.

I love this place. I eat here every time I'm in town. I come all the way from Texas to enjoy the chilly dogs. My family loves it so much we are thinking of moving here just to be closer to the Brown House. You guys ROCK

This little place is an icon. My mom and aunts used to bring me here when I was little, and it was always a treat. While visiting with my aunt a couple of weeks ago, I asked her what she'd like for lunch. To my delight, she responded with The Brown House. There was a bit of a line, and thus a bit of a wait, but I promise you it was worth the time. Thanks for the memories and great food, Brown House. I'll be back again.

Small small old fashioned style dairy tree door dairy Queen possibly even like old a&w but no no one walks out you just push your button and the drive-thru order drive up to the window and pick up your food to have walk-in or so a small little lobby the place is quaint and small but very good food and very good service I love it been going there off and on for years

Brown House food is awesome. Always will be, when went to Florida there was no Brown House we were thrilled to move back to Indiana and eat at the Brown House. Indiana food is so much better than Florida. We were not happy there.

My sundae was good. My order total was $6.50 and I paid with $7.00. I was going to tip a dollar but she never gave me my .50 change and walked away. So she got .50.

This is my favorite place in Auburn! It’s classic, modern, everything at once! I was there for a week and I got to try half the milkshakes they’ve had and also the tenderloin, grilled cheese, etc. I got completely obsessed with the cherry chocollat milk shake!

Used to work there in 1963 and 1964. Still the same great food.

Everything we had today was awesome! The stand outs were the potato salad, the onion rings, the tenderloin, and believe it or not, The Brown House salad. We can't wait to come back in the fall and try some chili.

They have the best chocolate malts. I'm glad they extended the hours. Also try the fried pork tenderloin sandwich. It's delicious. I bought the fried mushrooms, not sure they are worth the new price. I think they cut down on the amount that you get. They are delicious but I can buy an entire box of fried mushrooms in the freezer section of Kroger for $2 more. I also bought pup cups for my dogs. Both dogs love them and enjoy the dog treat in top of the ice cream. Great service. Sometimes a bit of a wait, but worth it just for the malt. And your food is cooked up fresh. The Vanilla cokes are a favorite here in Auburn.

My family and I were on a trip north from Nashville, Tennessee and were staying in Auburn, near the Duesenberg museum. Seeing The Brown House was just down the street, we decided to give it a try for dinner. First thing I want to mention is how kind the staff were. They were having a rough day due to some internal issues, and were understaffed, but remained very attentive and respectful. I know how hard it can be to work under pressure, especially in a retail situation, and they were handling everything very well and were fun to talk to. Beyond that, the food was very tasty! My family and I especially loved the ice cream. I got the Moose Tracks milkshake/sundae and it was amazing. The soft serve reminded me of those old soft serve stands on the boardwalk on the east coast. (Very nostalgic and yummy!) I definitely suggest dropping by if anyone happens to be traveling or staying in this area of Indiana. Thank you, The Brown House!

10 minutes in drive-thru line but absolutely worth it

My butterscotch shake was fantastic! Had a Coney dog but it had very little Coney sauce, mustard, or onion. To the point that it was actually kinda dry. Flavor was good, but more like a plain hot dog

Dropped by the Brown House while in Auburn and got a turtle sundae! It was so yummy! The ice cream here is amazing. I think I'd buy it by the gallon if I could! 😄 Many thanks for making my vacation an even sweeter trip!

The Brown House is a great family-owned restaurant. They have a large variety of items. The vanilla custard is my favorite! Oh and can’t forget about the coney dogs & fried pickles. I love the service & being greeted by the staff each time I go. I highly recommend giving this place a try next time you are in Auburn, IN.

A great classic spot on the charming south side of Auburn, right near Eckhart Park, museums and other sights. Whether you want the best darn coney dogs anywhere, a frosty maly, or a twist cone with a candy cherry on top, this is THE place.

The guy that was working to drive through window was rude, he got upset with us because he tried to give us the wrong order, as if it was our fault he mixed them up. And it was overpriced

The pork tenderloin , cheese curds and breaded cauliflower were delicious . Prices were average . The young drive thru girl was very unpleasant and seemed bothered by my 2 questions . The guy who handed me my food was probably the one who cooked it and he was very nice. Not sure what the 3 girls standing around were doing besides giggling ???

We met friends at a horse show in Auburn and had time to stop by the Brown House for some burgers and malts. They have SO many choices of ice cream concoctions! The problem is, my Amaretto malt was so good, do I take a chance and try something new on my next order or not? If we were going home after our visit, we would have got a pint of one of their specialty ice creams to go from the freezer case.

A little on the pricy side for a drive thru service restaurant, but it is delicious. Locally owned and operated you need to come try it out, especially on Coney Dog Wednesdays!!!! The shakes of the week are also top notch.
