Pescatarian and Vegan friendly place. No meat other than fish. Place has a nice vibe and hippie style. We ordered hummus, veggie meatball sandwich, mahi-mahi sandwich, salmon pesto sandwich and blackened tuna sandwich. Even though we had a little incident with tuna, they fixed it right away and everything was great. Mavi-mahi was the best of above. Their limeade is phenomenal, kids also loved blackberry limeade too. Highly recommend, they have a meat-free kitchen, any vegetarian dish prepped here will taste 10x better than a kitchen with meat.

Light healthy fare, good for those with dietary restrictions.

Food was overall great, but wanted to share my findings on the service. At the time of our arrival, I would like to mention that there were only two other guests together at the restaurant. When we were in the process of ordering, the server mentioned getting drinks three times (even though we had ordered water already). When we were placing the order, she was speaking to us with an elevated and condescending tone of voice (repeating things several times despite us giving clear and concise orders). However, we noted a very different affect with the other guests. Overall very unfortunate that we had been subjected to such treatment while visiting Key West. We had been here before (about two years ago) which is why we wanted to return but safe to say that we will not be returning again.

Absolutely loved this place! We came back to eat here multiple times! Their menu has so many options and they are very clear about making sure there is no cross contamination. Clearly labeled vegan, vegetarian and pescatarian options! Would highly recommend, and we would definitely come back again!

Food was good and tasted fresh but service needs improved.

Blackened tofu wrap: lacked flavor 3/10 Spinach gyoza: one of the better items we ordered 7/10 Shezuan stir fry: good flavor but they forgot to add noodles to the dish 6/10 Veg burger: patty was ok, could’ve done with more flavor, felt very dry 5/10 Pros- very good portion sizes Overall, although they have lots of vegetarian options, I would not recommend this place

I don't often leave reviews but after eating at "The Cafe" in key west today felt compelled to do so. I had the Falafel in Pita and must say it was one of the best tasting vegetarian meals I've had in my 50 plus years as a vegetarian.

I must say, I was really admiring the waitress who is juggling the whole front of the house by herself and doing it well. She was attentive, friendly, knowledgeable, and all the good things you want and someone handling the front end of a restaurant. The food took a little while longer Than I expected, but probably one person in the kitchen, which is understandable. The quality of the ingredients was great. The menu was diverse and had many offerings that were unique to the restaurant and overall was very pleased with the experience. However, the dishes were a bit pricey so be expecting to pay more than you really want to, die here but you’ll leave with a smile on your face

We entered with 9 people and were immediately taken to a table and had enough time to browse delicious things from the menu. Finally, everything was so beautiful, and the tastiest thing I've ever eaten, recommend the mozzarella sandwich 🥪 if you're in the area and if you're hungry you've come to the right place. At the end I bought a boost that was too good to leave behind ;)

VEGETERIAN OPTIONS i made that in bold as they have manu vegan and vegeterian tasty options.. never thought in Key West we will get vegeterian options. Sorted vegeies with flat noodles and sweet potato fries with pineapple carrot juice was so good.. its worth the try specially as an Indian looking for veg options in key west.. this is must visit.

Went here for breakfast, so I can only recommend it, my Benedict Salomon was simply fantastic. There were 9 of us and everyone was thrilled. Please try it 🏝️☀️🏝️👍👍👍👍

The food here is WOW, particularly if you're veg or just craving a healthy meal. Everything was incredibly fresh and obviously made with care. The kale salad with blackened tofu was phenomenal, and so filling I had leftovers. Hubs got their vegetarian curried 'chicken' salad and said it was excellent (he's not veg). Wish it was closer to the house we rented, I would've been there every day trying the drinks and other items. Amazing stop, veg or not. Extremely nice staff, as well!

If you’re vegan and gluten free, go ahead and save this name and address in your phone… You’ll be living here in Key West! I’m eating what is probably my sixth meal here in a matter of a couple days. This place is absolutely incredible for dietary restrictions. I’ve ordered their Caesar salad (made V/GF with a few modifications) probably four times, and I feel like my health is jumping up and down thanking me. Their un-nib dibs are also ridiculously good (we got the BBQ several times). I can also report their peanut stir fry is top-notch. While I’m totally vegan, my bf eats seafood, and we’re so happy we could both eat as we wished here. That’s super rare on our trips!!! I desperately wish I could pack up this restaurant and ship it all back to St. Louis, MO. Thank you keeping us full and happy! ❤️🌴❤️

TL;DR - okay service with great food. The Pros: The food was great! I ended up having the Blackened Tofu Wrap and one of my gf's had the Classic Sprouthead Sandwich. We also ordered Hummus & Pita as an appetizer. It was delicious through and through and didn't take too long to get. Not only that, but the portions were big. I was honestly impressed at just how much food they gave us considering the price, which was more than fair. Last, but not least, the atmosphere was pretty cool too. I'm not quite sure how to describe it, but artsy / liberal'ish sounds about right. The Cons: The service itself was just alright. I don't want to be too harsh here though since Branden (I believe that was her name) was the only one working what must have been 9 or so tables. She didn't spend too much time with us and her body language seemed like she was annoyed with us trying to figure out what we wanted, right? But then again, she was serving a lot of tables by herself and you can tell she was stressed, which is a bad look for a restaurant like this. I'm not sure if someone called out or something, but she shouldn't have been carrying all those customers herself. Anyways, besides the service, the food was great. I recommend it if you get a chance to check it out.

Amazing food! Whoever was making the Mahi Sandwiches last night (06/29/2024) did an amazing job! I've had that fish sandwich probably 100 times but this last time was incredible.

I ate here twice while visiting the area. I ordered the same thing both times because I liked it so much. The quesadillas are delicious. The prices are a bit high. The first time we dined in a gratuity was added to the bill but the second time it wasn’t so check your bill. Highly recommend it though.

OMG the food and atmosphere was so nice and clean and a great location central to everything. I have been vegan since 2019…. The Spinach dumplings were to die for ( whole family loved them and they are not vegan) I had the falafel wrap and it was some of the best falafel I’ve ever had!! A must for a vegan/ vegetarian in the keys!!!!

Cozy restaurant offering a large variety of healthy options. Many vegan and vegetarian dishes that are very well thought out and carefully prepared. Was very impressed by the amount of dishes presented and portions were generous as well.

Seriously the best mahi mahi tacos I’ve ever had. Also the homemade veggie burger is amazing with sweet potato fries and curry dipping sauce. We come here every time we visit Key West. Do not miss this gem!

Absolutely loved the uniqueness and tasteful nature of the dishes ordered. Started with Coconut curry sweet potato soup which had perfect balance between sweetness and savory. Seems Bok choy is not my type of dish. Again loved Italian meatball sub which had just the right tanginess and spice. Atmosphere is amazing with vibrant colors and a touch of music!!!

We loved this place – so much so that we ended up having three meals here over the weekend. The service was fantastic and the food was amazing.

So good we made two trips to eat here during our stay. The food was delicious and flavorful, and it was wonderful to have SO many excellent vegetarian options. The staff was friendly and helpful in making suggestions. I highly recommend coming to check this spot out for a healthy meal

Very good salads, large portions... worth the price

I was looking for a vegan/vegetarian friendly restaurant in Key West. We stumbled upon the Cafe. It had a good review and the menu looked great. We absolutely loved the Cafe. We ordered half a pitcher of Sangria (no margaritas). It was short on liquor but made it up in flavor. It was super tasting with lots of apples bits and orange slice garnishes. It was a super steamy day and we didn't miss the liquor at all. Next we ordered hummus with pita bread. They had Avocado, olive oil, bits of herbs and onions. Absolutely wonderful and we devoured it. I ordered spicy szechuan stir fry with tofu and my husband ordered veggie pizza. The pizza came with a bowl of salad. Salad was very fresh with lots variety, including cabbages, broccoli, Squash etc. The ginger dressing was great on the salad. The pizza was loaded with veggies and thickest veggie layers we had ever had on a pizza. All types of vegetables including red bell peppers broccoli, onions, tomatoes, etc. It was really made to serve two or three people. The stir fry was the best. If you look at their website, my stir fry looked exactly like the picture and tasted awesome. Tofu was grilled and the brown rice topped it off. Slices of green onions brought the freshness out. Spiciness was perfect for my taste. They do not short change you on flavor, quantity, quality and /or presentation. We took half of everything with us. We can't wait to go back again when visiting Key West.

Very delicious salads and sandwiches here. We got takeout which was fast and transported well. The inside space was very nice and it would have been fun to dine in as well.

Everything this cafe serves is wonderful. Service is also fantastic. Fresh vegetables is also a plus. I had the spring rolls and my wife had a very taste curry chicken salad.

I’ve been coming to this restaurant for many years now, and since the new owners have taken over, this restaurant has taken a nose dive. The new manager is extremely rude and would not let me even use the bathroom one day unannounced even though I’ve eaten there for years and she knows who I am. The food is worse now than ever they are giving you less but charging you more. It’s a joke. if you want to eat anywhere that is affordable and decent go to date and thyme, or sugar apple.

Great spot close to Duval Street with laid-back vibes. I was craving a good, cool salad on a hot day. I had the Asian quinoa salad and added salmon to it. It was amazing! Fresh, well-prepared ingredients and very tasty. I also highly recommend the spinach artichoke dip. Nice, friendly staff. A great, low-key, budget-friendly and healthy option in Key West.

I must say, I am not a vegetarian but my wife is, and we stop at The Cafe once a year. This year, 'The Cafe' far surpassed 'Blue Heaven' in respect to a dinner entree. Anyone can cook a huge pot of rice, beans, and skillet corn and slap it on a plate with, in this case, overcooked tough shrimp. The meal at 'The Cafe', Kung Po Tufu, was well cooked, very pleasing to the eye, a beautiful mix of veggies, not something plopped on a plate from a pot. The Chefs at 'Blue Heaven' should eat at 'The Cafe' once and a while to get the whole presentation thing down and maybe discover a trick or two they could take back to their restaurant. A bit about me, I'm 64, I visit Key West once a year, now have a vegetarian wife of 10 years, am a meat eater, and have enjoyed both restaurants many time. I think I'm scratching 'Blue Heaven' from my routine go to list. A. Its expensive. B. The cuisine has declined. I'll give them one more shot, but 'The Cafe' will most definitely remain as one of my go to restaurants for lunch or dinner. I can't judge their breakfasts as I do not venture that far first thing in the morning. Cheers, Steve

This place is going down hill. The stir fry is smaller now and it’s $8 extra for like no tofu! It’s sliced thin. I’d say it’s maybe 1/4 a block max. Ever since they changed owners it’s been this way. Bathrooms are always out of soap and dirty. And please don’t trust them to make it gluten free. Make sure you tell them hair to make your food if you’re allergic. I’ve gotten sick. Also I’ve gotten sick a couple of times after eating raw food like a salad. I don’t think they do a good job of cleaning raw food. I spent nearly $85, $95 with a tip for edamame, two stir fries with tofu and a kale Caesar salad. So it’s pricey and you don’t even feel full /get less food.

I just left this establishment in which this roach was on the wall next to me. ( attached is the pic) Another crawled on my leg, and another was on OUR table in between me and my cousin. This has nothing to do with their food but the higiene of the establishment. Worst part is server said oh that’s weird I’m sorry, and walked back into the kitchen. We couldn’t even finish eating due to being so grossed out and obviously not trusting the food at that point. I took the picture because I wasn’t taken seriously so I picked it up from the floor so she knew it wasn’t a lie her reply was I know I can see it in your face yet server didn’t even offer anything other than I’m sorry. After much discussion she refunded us for a he 3 plates and a round of juice but trust it wouldn’t have happened if it was up to them. Please be careful. Hope this avoids someone getting sick

Hands down the best place for vegan and vegetarian food. We had the veggie burger bites and they were soooooo goooodddd!!! The very veggie pizza was loaded & super tasty and the Key Lime Sangria was extremely refreshing. Highly recommend this place for everything on their menu❣️

I have been in many aspects of the restaurant business for 45 years. We ate here for lunch last week of April. I NEVER give a five star review and I review very rarely because I know how a restaurant and a kitchen should operate and most restaurants disappoint me. We arrived and were promptly greeted by people who cared we were there and made us comfortable at one of their booths. We ordered curried chick peas over butternut squash and spinach, A stuffed avocado with fresh mozzarella, shrimp, and a pesto dressing. Only a true caring properly trained chef would cook the shrimp the way it was. Cooked but crunchy and not rubbery. DELICIOUS. The food was so good we also ordered an Asian salad with quinoa and a soy-ginger dressing. Absolutely delicious. We live about 80 miles from this restaurant but we would eat there every day if we could. These people are not amateurs and know food especially the Chef who we never met because they were busy. There is not one negative I could find here. Food, surroundings, bathroom, dining room were all CLEAN. Just excellent all the way around from a very critical and knowledgeable foodie.

Best veggie burger I’ve had. I got the house special veggie burger which had grilled pineapple and onions and it was spectacular. The bread was soft and perfect and the burger itself was house made with many fresh veggies, scallions, lentils, and eggplant to bind it altogether. Even my husband who is a strict non vegetarian couldn’t keep his hands off my sandwich and left planning on how to make it himself at home. The menu is pretty large and includes many pescatarian options as well. Highly recommend trying this place if you’re in Key West.

Cool indoor seating, mostly vegetarian restaurant with tons of delicious vegan options. Big portion sizes and delicious vegan desserts. Amazing to have a healthy vegan option while on vacation. Staff was so friendly and attentive!

I love the variety of vegan friendly options here! We had the salmon & pesto sandwich, the stir fry with flat noodles japanese style, and spinach gyoza dumplings. Definitely recommend all. The salmon was great and the pesto was not too overwhelming it was just right. I really loved my noodle stir fry, the flavor was very fresh and there were plenty of vegetables, and the sauce wasn’t overpowering or too sauce-y. Everything was balanced and very tasty. I have to highlight the sweet potato fries. They’re so good! It sounds weird, but they reminded me of french toast sticks without being too sweet at the same time. definitely recommend. Service was fast and friendly. I loved the atmosphere as well. Very adorable cafe with cute local art all around to look at.

Some of the best food we’ve ever had - vegan or not! We had the special veggie burger which had pineapple on it, we also had the AMAZING vegetable gyoza, which we will never forget, and we had the mahi tacos. Genuinely some of the best tacos my husband has ever had. The flavor profile achieved in every single dish, sauce, and side was impeccable. Genuinely nice people, good atmosphere, healthy options and dietary restriction friendly! They had an array of assorted fresh squeezed juices, gluten free / vegan / vegetarian options, organic kombucha, and beer! Would be a fun place to come work at. 10/10 for everything! Many, many veggie options which is really hard when you are trying to diet or even just eat healthy. So many restaurants cater to the SAD (Standard American Diet) which is killing most of us, making us unhealthy and obese at the same time. So many restaurants focus on meat and it is really nice to have a restaurant that doesn’t focus on just meat.

Excellent veggie burger and bean salad! Enjoy the juice of the day: watermelon, cucumber and lime. Enjoyed this restaurant very much.

The menu looked great here but the vibe was just super off. Service was mediocre at best (there was only one other party when we sat but it felt as though the two waitresses actively ignored us), food needed a ton of salt, and the atmosphere had a low energy that was kind of depressing. I really wanted to love it, but did not.

The server who took our order was pretty cold. Seeing other reviews, perhaps it was because it was clear that we were not from the US. The 20% gratuity for a party of 4 that is added by default is ridiculous! They even suggest adding additional tip on top of that in the receipt. The "fresh" juices were definitely not fresh and prepared much earlier / purchased from outside.

I was visiting Keywest with 5 of my friends, all of us being vegetarian chose this place based on reviews. We had the cold peanut noodles, falafel in pita, a salad, kung pao tofu and stir fry. The food was good, with multiple options across different cuisines and the portion size was enough. Definitely recommend this place!!

The food was good but a bit expensive!

If not the best, theb one of the best of vegan food in Key West. Really great menu, everyone can choose something, even non-vegan people, but the majority is vegan and also mostly gluten-free. Everything is clearly marked, fresh and yummy. Very friendly staff and nice atmosphere. We had gyozas, spring rolls, beer, the squash filled with quinoa, and the vegan key lime cake. Everything was tasty, seriously!

We only took the key lime pie so can’t really judge the rest. It was tasteless and the texture was really bad, for 2x the regular price you find elsewhere

Amazing food and drinks. We are from NJ. We need places like this in NJ/NY. Wish we could come back here. More places need to embrace vegetarianism and veganism.

Great food with a great vibe but I felt that the food was more on the pricier side along with the mandatory 20% gratuity which felt a bit overwhelming. But this is a great place for anyone to go to for delicious food.

Nothing else to say but WOW! The staff and the food were beyond perfect. With many varieties from Middle Eastern, American, and even to Asian. The staff is no questions asked the best waiter I have ever met. Enough about the waiter, the food is FABULOUS especially the Falafel with the avocado hummus which makes you feel like your never going to find a better restaurant and keep in mind that we are from Georgia.

The food was alright, but the service needs to be improved. No one came to take our order, until we called them (the restaurant was almost empty, there were only three more customers apart from us). Also, they add a 20% gratuity to your bill. The washroom was really disgusting.

Great place, would not hesitate to go back! There was a very talented magician who entertained us for a few while we waited for our food, not that it took very long, even for our party of ten. Very good service and even better food! I had the legendary Rasta pasta, and I could see why it is legendary.

We chose to visit based on reviews, and while the staff is generally good, their responsiveness during busy times leaves much to be desired. We tried various options here, aside from the salad, fries and flat noodles, everything else was okayish in taste. The mandatory 20% gratuity added to a bill of around $160 felt unjustified for the overall experience. Considering the options nearby, we'd recommend exploring other cafes in the vicinity for a more satisfying dining experience.

It was a joy to find this place and not only did it make me happy, it made my stomach happy! If you need to go to Margaritaville one day, that’s fine, but eat here the rest of the time you’re in Key West! I can see why they’ve been in business for 21 years! Thank you Branden M. and staff!

While visiting we use reviews and seek out new places to try and when we came across the reviews for this place, we wondered how we’ve missed it in our many past trips, because the reviews were very nice! So, we stopped in for lunch on a weekday and they were moderately busy when we got there; by the time we left, they turned all tables twice! So, clearly they’re very popular with the locals! Their menu is an interesting mix of Asian, as well as standard American and tropical fare. We started with their spinach gyoza dumplings and they were INCREDIBLE! So much flavor!! Next up was a side salad, as I wanted to try one of their interesting freshly in-house made dressings and I tried their miso-ginger dressing… it was excellent and the salad was loaded with fresh veggies and leafy greens! Their sandwiches are what we opted for as entrées – Excellent choice, as they were fresh and tasty! Very nicely done!! In all, we really enjoyed our lunch, so we came back for drinks later that evening, as they have freshly made juices they use in their sangrias. The sangrias were decent as well. We’ll definitely return when we’re in town next!

The freshest and most delicious food we had while dining in key west. You can tell there’s thought and care put into each dish. We loved everything we ordered, including the juices and coffee!

The food is normally pretty good but be completely prepared for rude service. I've dined in a few times but my major complaint is with online ordering/ delivery. If its too difficult to offer such a service to your customers just get rid of it but to make people wait 1.5 hours to receive 2 bowls of soup and veggie bites is unreal! Not to mention when we called to make a correction the first time they were insanely rude and made me wait on the phone for 10 minutes because as the women who answered put it " well if you made the mistake then you can wait on hold" . Then later when we tried to call and check on the order and why i was taking so long you couldn't get through to speak to someone ( this was many calls over 20 minutes).

Food was delicious. So many vegan options! Their homemade tempeh was outstanding. The environment was inviting and their staff friendly!

Branden our server was exceptional making sure we received exactly what we wanted —I needed no added salt on my food and my husband as a vegetarian got excellent veggie food! Great place to get veggie/ vegan eats - so good that we patroned it twice! Kale salad with seared Mahi Mahi! Awesome
