It’s hard to find catfish “on the bone”, and this is the place in Central Florida. They’re cornmeal crispy and perfect. They even gave us the smallest ones, as we asked for. Deeeelicious!

We had dinner here on Saturday July 13th and everything was fantastic! Hostess sat us immediately, Waitress was on top of everything and very helpful with the menu and the food was top notch with large portions! Great place and we will definitely come back soon!

The Catfish Place in St. Cloud, Florida has delicious food. We had the fresh, hand fried catfish and shrimp. Everything was excellently prepared and the service was extremely competent and quick. In addition, the prices were extremely reasonable and there were lunch specials and a senior menu. We were greeted promptly by the staff when we entered and immediately seated, and our server was extremely kind and personable. It is really hard to find delicious, freshly prepared food in Central Florida at a great price. The Catfish Place is it.

My husband and I have been long time customers, driving all the way from Brevard for the food. We were saddened to hear that the restaurant had been sold. We drove over today to see how it is under new owners. Mixed reviews, so we weren’t sure how it would be. We were pleasantly surprised. There are a few minor changes, the Cole slaw is different, not bad but definitely different. The hush puppies are also different, but I actually prefer these to the previous. The catfish, fried shrimp, scallops and gator tail were absolutely delicious as always and the service was great.

Quick and fast service. Friendly service in and out of the restaurant. The food is always hope notch and hot and fresh. Nice Hometown feeling every time we go yo eat. And by far, some great ice tea, either sweet or unsweet, always fresh and so good. I recommend you check it out if you haven't yet.

For over 50 years, this place has been serving up tasty southern-style foods sourced from local lakes in Florida. Despite changing ownership in 2024 for the first time since its inception, the local favorites are still being served daily. The atmosphere continues to be local Floridian, as it should be and always has been, and the servers make you feel at home. Never had fried gator tail? This is definitely a great place to try it! Still the best sweet tea in town, hands down.

Fish was overcooked and belly meat. Was advertised as fillets.

Lots of fried goodness! But also seafood gumbo is great. Service is great with southern hospitality charm. Hush puppies are served with meal and a surprise treat. Erica was our waitress and she was great

I came yesterday for their fingerling catfish expecting farm raised like everywhere else. I had to settle because the craving was overwhelming. As soon as I took my first bite it tasted like I caught it myself in the St. Johns River. Then I learned they were caught on trotlines in Lake Okeechobee. Apparently all their fresh water offerings come from the same source. These folks know how to fry catfish. They do it just like my girlfriend with a dusting of cornmeal. It was perfect and absolutely scrumptious! Next time I'm ordering a large order. The trimmings were top notch too.

Service was surprisingly slow since it wasnt busy, we had to wait several times for items like tea refills, the bill, boxes for leftovers. Steamed shrimp dinner was under cooked (mushy) and flavorless. It was inedible at the restaurant. We did take it home to season and cook the next day. Fried catfish dinner was fine but nothing special. I was expecting more since they named the restaurant for it. Seafood gumbo and green fried tomatos were good. Scallops on the seafood platter were also under cooked and unseasoned. We drove from Orlando for a belated fathers day celebration and because we had heard good things, but we could not agree. It will be our one and only trip there.

Just left one of our favorite restaurants for the last 50 years… knew immediately it had changed owners. The crackers were a generic brand, tea not the same, clams did not taste like fresh clams and boneless catfish not as good ( NO salt at all). No cashier anymore and our after lunch peppermint patties for sale at register gone. Our server disappeared and we, finally, had to ask the little lady that seats you to find her for us. Plus! The prices have all gone up ! We are from Ocala but always ate here, when anywhere near. Soooo disappointed… they have have remembered the “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it!!! This was a gem of a restaurant for 50 years ☹️

We LOVE this place and go there frequently. Friendly staff and the food is great! They've been around for over 50 years. The owners recently retired and sold the business, but they still have the same staff and same food menu!

I know it's a popular place and everyone was friendly but in my opinion the batter, which was on everything was quite plain. Not sure they even put any salt or pepper in the batter.

The Catfish Place has always been a family favorite and we are so happy that the new owners are keeping the same great recipes and atmosphere. We have so many favorites but always make sure we share an order of fried green tomatoes, lobster bites and everyone, even the kids love a simple side salad with their delicious homemade ranch dressing.

Went today at 11:45am, food was OK. Men's Restroom absolutely reeked of urine smell and they had just opened at 11am. Don't know what is so hard about making sure the restrooms are clean for your customers. Can't imagine what the kitchen looks like. Also, I noticed the waitress treating the other guests better than our table with more attention.

A wonderful home cooked meal experience and awesome staff

Being from Memphis we love our southern fried catfish. It is hard to find it done right in Florida but here they've got it just right. This is our third visit and we drive an hour from Melbourne to enjoy this monthly meal. I don't think you will disagree. Generous portions, welcoming staff and very attentive service and yes the fish is cornmeal/ flour dredged and seasoned to perfection. Keep it up.

New owners. Stood 3-4 minutes before anyone acknowledged us. Changed recipe on Cole slaw, it was good. the original was great. Think a few other recipes changed. Server tried to charge us $80 for $38 meal, then dropped it $50, finally got it right. If you buy a successful restaurant, don't change what worked really well.

2nd visit - this place does not disappoint. Service is on point and the food is amazing! Thank you for being so consistently great. Chopped steak topped with onions - great beefy flavor Chicken tenders- hand battered and the strips are thin and tender. All the food is good!!! Went on a Saturday evening for dinner. Had a 15 minute wait - but seemed less than that when we got seated. We recieved service immediately upon being seated. All of the severs were busy. They all were working very hard. The kitchen fell behind in orders so there was somewhat of a long delay (we overheard another server tell their table). When our food did come out, it was hot and fresh....so so very yummy. Catfish obviously delicious. Cut into strips that were the perfect size. Filets of flounder were light and flaky and perfectly battered. The shrimp were good in size and perfectly battered. I can see why this place has been around for as long as it has. Inside - all very clean and tables spaced nicely. Wasn't crowded and didn't feel like we were sitting with other people.

After many years of having the best food to having the worse. Waitress spilled drinks on customers, staff stood around and did nothing. Food was cold. Server was like Houdini, best disappearing act I've ever seen. Could not get condiments, refused to take order after bringing a meal to the table without gravy. Freshest fish this night were in the lobby aquarium. New owners need help, another local favorite gone to the buzzards.

Always a great experience! Catfish is delicious. Home style cooking. Country music and friendly service. One of the best local spots in St Cloud.

We just left this place because we were invisible. If you are Hispanic, do not come here. You are going to feel invisible. We waited 30 minutes for the waitress to ask us what we wanted to drink; the place was not busy. She brought us the drink without a straw. She said that she would be right back, but she did not. And she attended to other customers who came after us. Other customers came 15 minutes after we were seated, and the waitress attended to them first. Nobody came to check on us while we waited. We felt that the waitress treated us differently than the customers who came after us, and they did not have to wait as we did. We ended up leaving, and they just stared at us.

Horrible!!! $27 and over an hr wait for uncooked gator bites and okra ( wich was the size of a kid portion any place else have not been here since I was a kid and don’t plan to go back ever , both the gator and the okra only had a flour flavor no seasoning on top of still being raw , how do u wait over an hr and get flavorless raw food ? The lady doing to go orders ? Hot mess ! Stressing herself her new employees ( host and register girls ) and the customers out . Maybe calm down and train the girls to help you so they are not standing there embarrassed apologizing for you and for goodness sakes fix ur sizes bad enough looking on line okra app was 5.99 get to the store and its double. Completely bad food and service

A very good country style fish house that I have enjoyed several times. The fish is fresh, and can be fried or broiled. Standard homestyle sides, and more than you can eat at a great price. The staff are friendly, helpful and prompt. Plenty of parking and lots of comfortable sitting. As the sign says on the door - This is where the locals eat.

Great food and courteous staff. It was my first time there. My mom recommended it, and the food, atmosphere, and staff measured up to expectations.

Food was ok. My son's kids grilled cheese, the cheese wasn't melted. My daughter got a hot dog on I think was garlic bread instead of a bun. Food was bland. The rest of us that ate got diarrhea and are throwing up.

Party of only 4 and all of our food came out at different times. Took forever to do so and a table that ordered after us was served their food before us. The catfish and cod had absolutely NO flavor! Tried it once and ONLY once!

Recommended to us as "the" place to eat in town and they weren't wrong. Super fast service. Catfish was wonderful. Gator was yummy and not over-breaded. Fried okra was terrific.

I drive from Winter Haven to St Cloud to The Catfish Place because it is the best. It is the best Seafood anywhere for the price. In the 20 years I've been going here, I've NEVER had bad service or bad food. Definitely worth the drive. You won't regret it either if you give it a try.

Tried placing an order for pickup, phone number is wrong on their page or they just don't want to bother listing it. Too bad. I ordered elsewhere so they blew a $100 order.

We had an amazing time at The Catfish Place! Me and my friends came down to Florida from Canada, we got a recommendation from Andrew at Gatorland to come to the Catfish Place for true, authentic, Floridian Cuisine. And boy did it exceed expectations! Delicious and perfectly fried Catfish, Gator, Frog Legs, Oysters, Clams, Shrimp, Okra and Hush Puppies. Complimented by hand made sauces, sides, and freshly made coleslaw. Truly delicious! Futhermore, my sister is celiac, we weren't aware that the restaurant was a fried food place till we got there. She was incredibly worried about cross contamination, but she was able to eat her fill without any stomach issues! Genuinely so impressed with the staffs attention to our dietary concern. They fried all her food in cornmeal, and it was just as delicious as our gluten-filled food! Thank you so much to Rachel for her amazing service, and thank you for getting us our Floridian Poutine! (We've been telling everyone about it) If you want the true Florida experience, go to The Catfish Place immediately!!!

The food is so bland. This isn’t what we were expecting with all the good reviews. The service was okay. Their slogan is “where the locals eat”… yeah, the locals from 1973 when the place opened no doubt, seems to me the elderly community in St Cloud is a big fan, which must account for the tasteless food, much like the cafeteria at your local nursing home. Some seasoning would have been nice.

I had the bone in fingerling catfish bone in they were very very good it was all you can eat get the coleslaw it's to die for sweet potatoes are awesome as well everything is good at The Catfish Place

While visiting family in Florida, we decided to take a tour on an air boat. That took us to St Cloud FL. While on the tour the employees suggested a visit to the Catfish Place for lunch. A quick search showed the possibility of turtle and alligator in the menu. I was slightly disappointed to hear they no longer had turtle in the menu although they had a few posters indicating they served it. After ordering and getting our food the disappointment vanished as we had a feast of fried alligator, scallops, catfish and grouper, with different sides including sweet potato fries, coleslaw, regular fries and mashed potatoes with gravy. The restaurant was busy even at 2pm when we were there on a weekday. Service was great and portions and flavor were awesome. Unlike other places I've been before, each fried item had a different breading batter thus clearly different flavors. We are glad the employees at Wild Willie suggested this restaurant.

It was nice and the food was ok. We went because my husband loves sea food but in my opinion, there was a lack of flavor. I ordered a chicken breast because I don't eat sea food and had a fish aftertaste. My husband said most of the food was bland

Delicious food's only downside is the dining area is always full of people. Not only dining but waiting to pick up as well.

First time visit was 30 March 2024 for dinner. Ordered fried okra for appetizer, I gave the food rating 4 stars due to the okra having been frozen and the majority of the pieces were not hot. Ordered fried catfish, cod, shrimp and all of these were brought out warm and delicious. Coleslaw was one of the best slaws I have eaten. Overall, the restaurant was clean, service was very good and everyone there knew everyone else. I really enjoyed the overall experience. I will certainly return.

The service was perfect! We had the 2 for $25.99 Mon. - Wed. Sweet tea always reminds me of Tennessee. We love the shrimp & catfish combo, cold slaw, hush puppies, cheese grits, okra & don't forget the blackberry cobbler & vanilla ice cream to take home. Over the top & leftovers for the next day.

There’s a few things that need to be changed at this place. The food is good but your wait staff is being pushed too hard. These kids are dropping things because they’re rush, rush rush, rush, rush you know what the people in the seating area waiting to get a table can wait an extra two minutes. You all need to stop rushing. Rinning around like chickens with your heads cut off causes accidents. We saw a waitress spill drinks and side dishes and then we saw a busser slip and fall down. All because you all are rushing stop rushing. People go to this restaurant knowing that there’s a wait. Especially on the weekend. You all need to stop and think what you were doing plus, I would like to recognize the young man with the long hair that buses tables and seats Guests he needs to wear a belt. His pants are falling off of his bottom and the children there at the restaurant that were at my table 5 little girls some teens and some smaller were laughing and staring at his red underwear, how appropriate is that? This is a family establishment and that young man needs to pick up his pants and wear a belt. I don’t know if health allows him to walk around in his underwear but that is uncalled for.. We had a group of about 25 that were getting together at your restaurant next weekend for lunch, but since we witnessed the chaos disaster of management. We opted to go elsewhere. 👎👎👎👎👎

I have looked at this online several times. We Really enjoyed our Sunday seafood meal! They were busy but very quick about clearing tables and Seating. I had clams they were sweet and not overly done. They weren’t tough they were very tender. My son had shrimp. It was plump and juicy and the batter was perfect. I enjoyed the hashbrowns. It was very simple and very nicely done. I didn’t think the coleslaw was that great but that’s OK, the hush puppies were delicious (they’re the sweet kind). I prefer going to non-chain restaurants. This seemed like a great family owned restaurant. I really appreciated how clean it was. The air was fresh and flowing And not stale. We will definitely be going back again.

We came here based on the recommendations of our airboat captain and it didn't disappoint. Gator bites were delicious. It was our first time having gator and the texture was a mixture of seafood and meat. Not sure if it's just the way they prepare it, but the gator was delicious, tender and perfectly fried in a light batter. Dipping sauce complemented the flavor. Fried catfish and clams were also nicely fried. Hush puppies with honey were almost a dessert on their own. Pitcher of sweet tea made for the perfect meal. Staff were very attentive and clearly had worked there for a long time. Great to hear their stories and experience the love of the place.
