Had a last min. Dinner with 3 other people. The fried haddock, the salmon and the Halibut were all excellent.

What a find! I was not expecting much in this small town, and when I pulled into the strip mall location I expected even less, but what a surprise! Beautiful restaurant, lovely smells coming from the open kitchen, warm lighting. The food is very high quality and fresh with a nice menu. Service felt like family restaurant. The people dinning there all seemed happy to be there, as were we. I would highly recommend this place, and support it. They do a great job here.

Bit of a wait but worth it. Had chicken cordon Bleu with polenta and it was fabulous. Drinks are very good!

The wait was worth it. Delicious food, we shared the stuffed mushrooms and then my entree was chicken cordon Bleu with polenta. So good! Also enjoyed a painkiller!

The Central is THE best restaurant in the York area. The owners are amazing, the food and service is exceptional. We've eaten there regularly for the past 7+ years and have always had a 5 star experience!

I was coming back from a business dinner and sought a night cap. Kirby Lyle served me up a drink and a last call song, and it was the perfect night cap vibe. Easily the best part of my quick stint in Nashville.

Great service and inspired menu

This was a fantastic surprise. I happened to be in the area, and found this restaurant on Yelp. Glad I did! My dinner guest and I loved the place before we were seated. Great decor, terrific lighting, and the kind of casual and relaxed atmosphere that makes you want to stay a while. Our server, Niki, was super-friendly and helpful throughout our meal. We ordered several sides and split a burger. First out were the meatballs. Three giant meatballs covered in delicious sauce, cheese, and pesto. Tender, savory, perfect. Next up was whipped feta with honey and dates. Pita triangles were used to scoop up the feta, and the combination was amazing. Like savory Greek yogurt, but better! The fried Louisiana fried shrimp were fantastic, served with a mango chili dip. The truffle fries were hot and crispy, perfectly seasoned (generously) with intense truffle flavor, and served with a fabulous garlic aioli. We chose to split the pastrami burger, which was incredible - familiar flavors all pulled together into one delicious burger. I have a feeling this is a gem for locals around York. If I lived here, this would be a regular go-to place for me. When the check came, I thought they made a mistake; for the quantity and quality of the food, this was an absolute bargain. Truly one of the best meals I've had in a long time, and you can't beat the ambiance and service! If you're near York, Maine, do yourself a favor and stop in. You won't be disappointed!

Meh. Told it would be a 45 minute wait and it was an hour and twenty plus change. The bartender was mugging me, despite the approximately $80 bar tab exclusive of gratuity while we waited to be seated. Maybe I had something on my face. To give credit where credit is due: the Haddock chowder and short-rib beef Wellington were dope. I ordered the scallop and haddock bake which came in a tin foil to-go tray like you might receive your airline meal in. My parents opened their mouths about the presentation, and it wasn't received well by our server. We still had a great night together at the place, but a little less 'tude would have stretched the experience to the 4 to 5 star rating. Give it a shot, nonetheless. Maybe they'll like you a little more than they liked me.

This place is seriously the best! Everything on the menu is amazing and service is also great. I can’t even pick a favorite because everything is so delicious (including the craft cocktails). Highly recommend the Central and the Bar Next Door!!

This place has no ambiance and is so loud it will make you want to sit outside. There is no sound dampening on the walls which would make all the difference. We could hear conversations from 3 tables away. The fries were the best part of the place and they were obviously from a major food supplier and not hand cut. My ribs tasted like chemical cleaner. My girlfriend ordered a pastrami sandwich with more fat than actual meat. Definitely won't be returning

Recommend the Soba noodles with pork dumplings...very tasty!

A little pricey for the small plates but drinks were great and our bartender was fantastic. Definitely will be back.

This place has great food! We were vacationing in York Beach and ate at a bunch of fancy high priced restaurants near or on the beach, but this place had the best food hands down of any of the places we tried. Both my husband and I loved our entrees. I had the maple bacon glazed salmon and he had Korean beef tips. Perfection! The place itself doesn't look that appealing from the outside since it located in a strip mall with mostly medical practices, but don't let that stop you. The atmosphere is pleasant but not overly fancy, but the food is definitely fancy! The service was very good also. A must try if you're visiting York!

Food is very good. Very tasty. Waitress was very attentive. Great atmosphere. Very busy. Arrive early for a seat. Indoor, outdoor seating.

I could go on and on about how amazing this place is. The owners are absolutely wonderful. The open in Kitchen concept is amazing to see the chefs at work! Priceless! My husband and I had the most perfect anniversary dinner. We had the pan seared scallops in a coconut curry with Swiss shard, which was to die for….cooked perfectly. Everything from beginning to end was delicious. Our server, Laura was also a delight! Thank you

Get there early to be able to sit at the bar and enjoy your night out! We thoroughly enjoyed our bartenders Kim and Courtney! They were attentive, funny and great mixologists! You must try the spicy pomegranate margarita and the black manhattan and don’t forget the chocolate martini for dessert! Food is simply delicious and very creative and with great portions. The Buffalo shrimp and seared tuna was an enormous pleaser. We did enjoy the whipped feta dip, but wished it was served warm and not cold. The chicken Parmesan entry with homemade pasta was simply delicious and so large that we had to take home! Kim and Courtney were extremely busy with keeping up with not only the large bar orders but also the dining room orders, however, you’d never know it as they paid close attention to all and truly made it a fun night! Additionally, it was a pleasure watching ALL staff members(including the owner) work together to ensure great service was experienced by all! Cannot wait for the new bar to open!

loved this restaurant! Tables and bar were pretty full, but we were able to be seated right away. Place has a nice vibe. We sat at a comfy, high-top table. Service was great. Vanessa was attentive and kind. I had swordfish, cheesy polenta and spinach w/corn, and it was delicious. Others ate the pasta alfredo with chicken and a plain alfredo. The thing I noticed throughout our dinner was that everyone who came in seemed to know one another and was greeted with a hug. Seems to be a regular spot for the people who live there, which says a lot. I wold 100% recommend and go back.

We picked The Central Restaurant and Bar out from several choices on google, not being very familiar with dinning choices in the York area. On arrival we were told there would be a lengthy wait. They didn’t try to under sell the wait time at all and they were pretty spot on. The food and the service were well worth the wait. The food presentations were wonderful and exceptionally delicious. The restaurant was easy to find. We did not travel just to have dinner there but it would be well worth the hour drive to eat there again! If you are lucky enough to live near by don’t hesitate to try The Central Kitchen and Bar!

Stopped in on a whim traveling to Augusta Maine. Service was awesome. The menu was small-ish but we'll rounded and unique. Our kiddo loved her cheese burger, they actually seasoned the patty which is unusual. The parmesan haddock was cooked perfectly- my hubs got the Sirloin Steak and was cooked to temperature- he said the glaze sauce knocked it out of the park. Well done

Highly recommend the Atlantic Salmon in the Maple Bacon Jam and the Coconut cake at the end. I wish I could leave a 6 star review. Best place I’ve eaten in the last 3 years. Staff was friendly and gave good recommendations. Service was quick (in an out within 40 minutes), the atmosphere is awesome and you can even walk over to the kitchen area to watch some preparations.

It was remarkably average. We travel and eat out quite a bit (unfortunately), this was one of those places that we said both during and after or meal that it was just OK and wished we had gone somewhere else. Nice atmosphere - average food.

Been touring round New England for the last 4 weeks including Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket. This has been the best place we have eaten at. Superb ♥️ from the English people

This used to be one of our favorite restaurants but it's gone downhill. We have not been here since before the COVID pandemic. We went last week for the first time in two years and it was not like it used to be. The food has changed and is not of the same quality that it used to be. My wife got the prime rib and the sauce on it was basically gravy master. My son got the cheeseburger and it looked like something from McDonalds. I got the chicken thigh sandwich and it was bland. Our daughter got the chicken parm and it was OK but nothing to get excited about. We also got chips and guacamole/salsa. The chips were a little stale and they didn't give us enough. This used to be a very good restaurant but somewhere along the line during the pandemic it's morphed into yet another restaurant charging high prices for boring, bland and uninspiring food. We won't be going back.

Great hide away place. Super friendly staff and a local hang out. Menu is perfect with apps, salads and a decent selection of entrees.

This is the first place I recommend to anyone visiting the area. Tremendous food with a constantly changing menu, attentive and friendly service. The line stretching out of the door daily just after it opens says it all.

My husband and I stopped at this restaurant on a Saturday night after reading the reviews of it. I'm never sure how much stock to put in the reviews but in this case the reviews were definitely right. The place was packed but the service was still excellent and the food was delicious! We will definitely be back!

Always love this place! The food and drinks are always excellent. Service is always attentive and friendly. Specials are always a hit. This place doesn't disappoint, as long as you're willing to wait at the bar with a drink in hand until a table opens up since there's no reservations. But trust me it's worth it!

The food was really good and the staff was very friendly. I only gave 3 stars because it's definitely a place locals like to "hang out". We got into town late and thought we could grab quick eats. We waited almost an hour and a half just to be seated for dinner. Thanks anyways.

Pretty decent but a little room for improvement. The atmosphere is great. Very cozy. I guess the two things I will say are good is the service and the servers. They're awesome. The food is good. Very good in fact. I guess the only issue were a couple of the spirits. I understand taking on local things on the menu but I think that can be overplayed in the name of supporting. Wiggly Bridge white whiskey......blah. In a a mixed drink....blah. Straight .....same. Local beer. Bland. Local seafood. Now you're talking. California for Mexican food, wine, IPA. Maine for seafood, ciders, apples. Nonetheless this is a good spot

Love Central! My Parents are there every week! only issue is the menu changes. I had Pho there last month. I went back a few weeks later, very much looking forward to it on a cold night, and it was no longer an option. Still love it though!! #bringbackthePho 🤣

From the outside it doesn't look like much (my husband was skeptical). We got there right when they opened at 430. Thank goodness we did because there was a.line outside the door prior to them even opening the doors. We started with the all plates....smoked pork poutine and the chicken and waffles....which were both amazing...we decided to keep ordering small plates and got the pumpkin cheesecake to go..... happy we found this places and really nice and cozy inside.

I tell you what.. totally calm and orderly “ chaos” upon entering in a Sat dinner time frame… I had a wonderful experience.. Chelsea introduced herself to me… and 30 minutes later thanked me , by name, and for $33 I gave her a fifty.. very impressed.. place was packed.. ner a few locals that rave the Central, for good reason, and the meatballs are the best I’ve had.. I’ll be back for sure

Awesome food, great drinks and great atmosphere

After searching for places in York came across this nice place. Very nice atmosphere and friendly staff . Food was delicious especially the Lobster Beignets.

We love it here! Outstanding cocktails and wine/beer selection. Love the atmosphere especially at the bar but also a great place to sit and enjoy dinner. Recently have been doing take out and they are always so friendly and prompt. They keep their main dishes consistent but offer weekly specials that are always good to try!

Central combines an interesting and tasty selection of small and regular dishes with excellent drinks and service. We've been several times and look forward to going back.

I was wearing a suit and tie while walking down the street after one of my shows when I fell through a puddle and ended up at the zoo where I found myself performing a dance with circus clowns. Then, a bear let me borrow their glasses and when I put them on, I was enjoying food from this restaurant.

Love this place, always a must stop when I am in the area. Things might take a little longer than normal but the food and service is never worse than amazing. Love the Korean BBQ steak tips and whatever is on special. Also the local beer selection is on point.

You can't go wrong with any of the dishes in the menu. I had the meatballs this time and they were great. The chicken parm that my brother got was great. The seafood pasta was awesome. We found this place during a short vacation in York. After a great breakfast, we decided to try to restaurant for dinner. We were not disappointed. My husband loved the chili, although he did say it was very hot which is why he liked it! I especially loved the truffle fries with the perfect amount of parm cheese and truffle. We didn't get any entrees, but everything we ordered was excellent. The online ordering was easy. Drive up and they come right out with your bag of goodies. Highly recommend!

Got take out for dinner here this weekend. Food was excellent and easy to order online. Curbside pickup worked perfectly and food was ready as promised. Just pull up and give them your name. They bring it out to you. Simple. I had the Korean steak tips and wife hade the meatball pasta. Both were prepared perfectly and the sides were delicious. Definitely on our list of go to places in the future.

Food is fantastic here. Owners are great people and truly know what good customer service is. They also have an excellent system in place during Covid. Ordering and pick up and is super easy. Highly recommend the steak tips, soba noodle salad, Dumplings, really you can’t go wrong.

Lovely spot for a meal in a strip Mall. The restaurant outshines it’s neighbors. Trendy menu, excellent service. Really noisy with a crowd. Definitely worth checking out .

Found this place during an overnight stay. It’s a hidden gem. We shared a few small plates (parm wings, dumplings and ahi tuna and crab tostadas). We also shared a beer flight with some great beers on tap and had a few other drinks as well. Mine being the spicy pomegranate margarita. It was amazing. If you don’t like spice don’t get this one. It has quite a kick to it. For dessert the apple crisp was excellent. If ever in the area again, we will be going back.

The central restaurant is a great restaurant with a unique menu . Their selection of food are more creative and tasty compared to many restaurants. Nice atmosphere and great music .

We were told that this was the"place to go" when we were in this part of Maine. Boy was that great advice! Awesome food, great staff and an absolutely great place to eat. Already told a bunch of friends traveling in the area and they are going!!

Our dinner at the Central was fantastic from beginning to end. We arrived at 5:00pm since there are no reservations due to the size of the venue. We had about a 25 minute wait but totally worth it. There was a nice bar as well as a coffee shop next door while you wait. The menu was varied and accommodated diverse dietary needs. Service was as outstanding as the food. Truly a gem!

We stopped here on our last night of our honeymoon. The food, the atmosphere and the service were all wonderful. They had a great cocktail selection and a nice variety of craft and more commercial beers to choose from. I had the pork dumplings, which were to die for! I also had the Korean BBQ sirloin tips, which were amazing. The sauce had excellent flavor and the sirloin tips were cooked perfectly. Even my extremely picky husband loved his food and he is hard to please! Thank you for the wonderful experience!

The Central has always been a great spot to share small plates with friends or family! The atmosphere is cozy and the staff is very knowledgeable and friendly. The Truffalo Wings are a mash up of two classic appetizers. Unique and delicious. Definitely get the brisket tacos (or brisket sandwich). Their dessert list is extensive, utilizing baked goods from their bakery next door. Impressive dessert cocktail list as well!

Wonderful food, simple menu. I had the panko coated haddock that was very delicious...... but be prepared to wait to be seated....we had to wait 45 minutes.

We came in for dinner after a terrible thunderstorm that knocked out power to many homes and businesses. This place was rocking! Atmosphere was awesome, people were friendly, servers were smiling and working hard. It was kind of loud but we had a great time. The food was good pub food. We ate every bite!

Great food. My only issue is the noise level. Not very conducive to easy conversation. Everyone yells over the background noise. They could use an acoustic specialist to soften the interior space.

After looking around york beach area came accross the central restaurant. The menu looked pretty good so i checked out some reviews witch seemd very good so we decided to go and it. Well we were seated right away and waitress took are drink orders promptly i whenever i go out to a restaurant i love that sampler padle of beer.. i orderd the ny strip and my friend ordered the Korean bbq tips we both ordered are meat med wich in fact came out perfect. We will deff be stopping i again soon

This was our first time here and the food here was absolutely fantastic, I was very impressed. The service was great, very fast. Certainly worth the trip.
