I had the brisket platter with beans and Mac and cheese. It was very delicious! The corn bread is the best I've ever had. Ohh yes and the huckleberry cheesecake was awesome! I would definitely recommend eating here! Thanks!

We went for lunch and it was fantastic. Everything! The food was 10/10, our service was fantastic, the building and all the antiques/decor was fun to look at. If we come back to town I will definitely come back!

If you hail from a place that isn't here and you have high expectations for bbq, you will not be disappointed. If you're from here and you already know, why are you asking? Top shelf, no question.

I have 1 complaint. They are not open 7 days a week..I love this place more than any other eatery in the Flathead Valley and we have many good ones to choose from. The Desto Grill is the BEST 😋

What a great place!!! We love to find good places to eat (just look at us)! This is one of the best places we have ever eaten! Our server, Kaylee, was a delight! She was very friendly, polite, and helpful. The food was phenomenal! I threatened to move to Montana, based solely on the elk sausage hoagie and Kaylee!!! If I could rate it higher than five stars, I would!!

As a Texan we naturally are skeptical with any other BBQ joints out of state, but this place is INCREDIBLE. The portions are large but not overwhelming. The food is delicious sides are phenomenal (definitely get the Mac and cheese). My favorite was the elk sausage but my fiance loved her brisket too. Already sent pictures to everyone and MUST STOP if you're in the area

Honestly some of the best bbq I’ve ever had. The pork belly pb&j appetizer is amazing. The atmosphere is fun and service is good. My only regret is I wish I’d saved room for dessert, the pies looked incredible.

Service was great - very friendly and very quick. Atmosphere was fun - lots of cool old photos and old timey decorations. Food was some of the most disappointing BBQ food I’ve ever had. Not at all reflective of the 4.7 score this place had when we attended. Not sure if the brisket or pulled pork was smoked at all - neither had any flavor whatsoever. Mac and cheese had no cheese flavor and too much garlic. Slaw was super dry and unappealing. Corn bread was great, but not the reason I was there. Overall the staff were lovely but this place did not go anywhere close to living up to the hype.

The food was super delicious. The brisket was so tasty, and it melted in your mouth. The service was amazing. Ladies were extremely polite. The restaurants decor is beautiful. They were very quick to serve our meal. Definitely recommended it.

Can’t recommend this spot highly enough! I travel a lot and have enjoyed a lot of exceptional small town food and Desoto is in my top 3. We were here as a party of 4 pretty big guys and ordered a LOT of food. Everything we tried was great. The biggest standouts were the hotlink Mac and cheese and the Reuben. Amazing. If you can, sit at the bar in front of the flat top. Watching the kitchen crew work and interacting with them is a blast. Do yourself a favor and show up hungry. You won’t be disappointed.

Very warm and welcoming. We were seated right away and the food was absolutely delicious. I had the chicken wings which were smoked and tasted so good and most. Other people in my party got burgers which were equally as amazing. But the corn bread was top tier. Was a perfect end to our day in the national park.

Really enjoyed our dinner. Loved the brisket, did end up asking for extra sauce. The beans were AWESOME. Our favorite sides were the beans, cornbread and mac and cheese-coleslaw was not something I’d order again personally. Our server Anna was fantastic. She asked if we were ok with bees & sitting outside-if we returned I would not sit outside because while we weren’t stung, they were certainly a bit annoying. Overall a big fan-and would return as I said!

Came into kalispell to visit the park. After a long day of travel all my wife and I wanted was a good bite to eat before we checked into our hotel room. We were absolutely blindsided by the food at The Desoto Grill. The smoked salmon appetizer was phenomenal, though smoked salmon always is. We split what was probably the best Reuben of my life, and thats saying something as we are from pennsyltucky. Melt in your mouth corned beef and that horseradish 1000 island was to die for. On top of that, we got the collard greens as a side, which they doubled up on, as we split the sandwich. I say this with no reservations, THE BEST collard greens I have ever had, hands down. This isn't friggin Georgia, or Alabama, this is Montana and those greens were incredible! Loaded with pork, tender, a little sweet with a touch of spice, I'd come back just for the greens. We are actually already planning to visit on our way out of the park and maybe once in between, just to try a few other menu items. DO NOT SLEEP ON THIS PLACE! If you're already intrigued, I'm telling you, it's a done deal. Great selection of beers as well as desserts that looked like they were annointed by Jesus himself, though we were so full that dessert wasn't even an option.

Dined in Whitefish / Kalispell / Hungry Horse for the last 5 days. Desoto Grill was, by far, the best in food, - taste / quality / and amount. Couldn’t finish the ribs platter. The brisket sandwich was delicious, did not need a knife to cut, … while the portion was larger than the two buns put together. The potato salad is and tastes homemade. The atmosphere and customer service is excellent. Dawn is a fabulous server. Should have been here the first day. Many locals dine here. Not open on Sat, Sun and Mon, so plan accordingly. btw, if like beer brews, the Irish Death Scotch Ale is fantastic.

Fabulous pork belly bites! Make sure you dip both the Thai peanut sauce with the huckleberry jam. The collard greens were deliciously spicy. Great beer choices, too.

We stopped here for dinner while in town for the night. It was busy at 6pm with about a 10 minute wait. There isn’t much of a waiting area so we hung around elbow to elbow with other patrons while sipping on a drink. We were seated at an oddly long and narrow “3 seater” and a server wandered up eventually. I tried the PBJ bites and Reuben the manager suggested; my wife tried the brisket. The PBJ bites were the star of the show and the Reuben was one of the better I’ve had. The brisket reinforces my opinion that you should never order brisket outside of Texas as it was more of a dry pot roast. All in all a great little spot with local beer selections. We’d return.

Absolutely delicious food and it was even quite busy when we were there but they had our food out in no time. I highly recommend if you want 5 star quality for a great deal. Absolutely love this place

This is a gem! Such good food and service! All of the employees were friendly and so kind. Ribs were some of the best I’ve ever had!

Menu says the brisket is smoked for 14 hours. Why did it taste like pot roast? Not a hint of smoke in the meat and sliced so thick it was tough and chewy. Chef needs to take a trip to Texas to see what brisket is supposed to be like.

A really need old building, the friendliest service imaginable... AND great food. You really can't ask for much more. Don't leave without trying the peach and Huckleberry cobbler.

They welcome you in! Their beef melts in your mouth. Their corn bread is better than dessert. And they have a cool hanging pig.

If I could tie this place to my bumper I'd pull it all the way to North Carolina so I could eat here a couple times each week! My kids and I had one of our most memorable times here. We all were incredibly happy we chose to eat here. We surely hope to return someday!

Good mood, but food wasn't good.

The best experience today both in food and service. Beer was cold, portions were huge and our waitress in like green was the kindest. Very impressed! Got the MT Cobb with pork and a few sides of brisket. YUM

Strawberry lemonade was absolutely delicious you have to get it. Meat was cooked really good, lots of flavor. Sides could've been better, mac n cheese was a little too mushy but we all have our own tastes.

From my Facebook post to my 2000 friends: Gotta share about tonight’s dinner. On this trip, we’ve been to great steakhouses that serve exotic game, in world-renowned resort towns. We’ve been to an artsy, bougie French brasserie with entrees I couldn’t pronounce in the heart of a trendy university town. And tonight, I had my best meal of the trip in a BBQ dive Miles found as highly rated in Kalispell, Montana. They smoke their own meats. Miles had the brisket, I had the pork belly. Yummy cornbread with honey butter and tasty sides, which included 4 different Mac and cheese options. So good! As you’ll see in the photos, the atmosphere is kitschy and cute! When we walked in, the joint was popping! Packed. Only two seats available at the end of the bar. And that perch allowed me to see behind the curtain, to what I truly loved about the place. As many of you know, my mom owned a restaurant. And staff seldom got along. Lotsa spats and snark. While enjoying my divine pork belly, I got to eavesdrop on an hour of conversations at the adjacent server’s station and host stand. They repeatedly asked how we were doing, if we needed anything—so much so that I had to ask who was actually our server lol. How they treated us wasn’t what stood out, however. I must have heard these kids say “please” and “thank you” to each other a dozen times. I heard praise and gratitude for how other servers pitched in to help with a large party. And I even heard an “I’m sorry” about something I didn’t see. Great food. Fun atmosphere. Good people. If you ever find yourself in Kalispell, don’t deny yourself the joy of eating at The DeSoto Grill.

Absolutely terrible. We waited roughly 30 minutes for a table, and the people who walked in right before we were sat were getting their order taken before the server even bothered to come over to our table. She didn’t even apologize and the only reason she came over was because we asked if a server was going to come over after waiting for 10 minutes. She never even bothered to get us water, we grabbed it out of the cooler after waiting several minutes. Not hugely important but we waited over 20 minutes for food and the kids didn’t even have kid’s menus to color or anything. Our meals were small, they brought 2 pieces of cornbread out immediately but it wasn’t enough for everyone so we just waited until it was cold so we could eat it with our meals. Food wasn’t that good, we got a very small pulled pork platter, mac and cheese and potato salad. It definitely was not worth 20 dollars and wasn’t even hot. Our server never checked on us once and aside from taking our order she never came back to the table. Someone else refilled our drinks, brought our food, gave us to go boxes and brought our check. The only reason we ever saw her again was because the kid cashing us out didn’t know how to do a military discount. Overall obviously was very unimpressed but also the restaurant is crowded and tacky. There isn’t really anywhere to wait for the 30 minutes it takes to get a table either.

This is one of the best restaurants I’ve ever eaten at. The owners are great and very welcoming. The food was spectacular. We had the pulled pork and brisket platters. The sides were so good. It is in a historic building that is eclectically decorated. Highly recommend eating there.

We booked Desoto Grill for our rehearsal dinner. From the moment we started talking to her she was excited to be a part of our wedding weekend and started telling us about things to do in the area, which was incredibly helpful since we aren't from Montana. She was super welcoming when we went to meet her and make payments a few days before our event. She made everything simple and we knew we were in good hands. The staff that came and set up our meal for the rehearsal dinner were kind, professional, and happy to be there and be a part of our weekend! Everyone from Desoto was a joy to interact with, which just started off our weekend right. And I haven't even talked about the food yet! We got multiple comments from guests about how good everything was. There was something for everyone. The leftovers didn't go to waste either! They were even great late that night and the next day. Incredible value for what we got. We couldn't have been more pleased with the food and our whole experience working with Shawnna and her team at Desoto!

We came on a Wednesday at noon and were seated outside due to our large group. The owner was very friendly and accommodating moving several tables and umbrellas to create a shady spot for us to sit under. Although we were outside, the waitress was attentive and consistently available to refill drinks, ask how things were going, etc. The staff was patient and kind to the kids wanting to poke their heads around the corner to look at the smokers in action. Food arrived extremely fast and was fresh/hot. We ordered the Reuben, two variety platters, and a kids meal. All were excellent especially the cornbread and pork belly. The kids loved the Mac and cheese and went back for seconds, then thirds of brisket. For a group of 11 we left completely stuffed (with some leftovers!) and the bill was just under $150 for everyone. Would highly recommend this place based on great service and food.

We went here for lunch. The bisket was great the elk sausage was amazing. Mac and chese was great. What was better was the service. Haley L was an awesome server. Whatever we needed she was on top of it. This is a must eat place. Food was great. I dont normally write reviews but i had too for this one because it was that good.

Loved this place. Excellent and friendly service. We had the combo platter with ribs, brisket, and elk sausage. The ribs were quite good, the brisket was decent though I was expecting slices not chopped, the elk sausage was clearly the winner though. The cornbread was great, not too sweet. The mac n cheese, cajun slaw, and potato salad were delicious too. Best part is it was 56 total including drinks, good price for 3 people.

This place was so good, we came back a second night while visiting Glacier. The service was friendly, and the food was amazing! I highly recommend the nachos and the peach huckleberry cobbler.

A hopping place! Busy at 1pm on a Tuesday in early July. Service was great. Everyone looks after you to ensure you're well taken care of. Your drink is ordered before you're even seated. We ordered the brisket nachos and were advised to take the half order. Great idea! It was huge and plenty tasty. We then ordered the 3 meat platter. The pulled pork was amazing but unfortunately the ribs weren't the best I've had. The mac was great and so was the coleslaw, and the best corn bread I've had, now..I haven't had many but this one wasn't dry. Great place to visit for something different and great tasting food.

In June 2024, I spent 6 days/5 nights in the Flathead Valley, primarily to see Glacier National Park. On the one day of my time there that was a bit rainy, I spent the day exploring Kalispell, MT. I sought out the DeSoto Grill for lunch that day because I had checked out their menu online beforehand. I was in search of their elk sausage hoagie. I’ve eaten venison and antelope before, but I had never tried elk until my visit to the DeSoto Grill. I wanted to eat “local.” It was a Thursday at lunchtime, and the place was bustling, often with a line of people waiting for a table to open up. I took that as a good sign. Since I was by myself, I told the waitstaff that sitting at the bar was fine by me. From my place at the bar, I could watch the chefs and kitchen staff working at a fast pace to fulfill all the orders coming in non-stop. I ordered an IPA brewed locally (from Bias Brewery in Kalispell) and the elk hoagie with a side of the collard greens with pork belly. The hoagie with a large elk sausage came with pickled peppers and a mustard sauce. Elk sausage is substantial, dark, and not excessively gamey. Nothing to be afraid of. I really enjoyed it. The collard greens with pork belly were excellent — so much so that I used my spoon to get every drop of the pot likker. It’s a funky joint that looks like a garage with excellent food and good drink. Definitely worth a visit when in Kalispell!

Located in a former foundry/machine shop, the vibe is unique. It's small, the kitchen is open for viewing the chefs in action. Very cool. The BBQ was outstanding, don't miss the mustard sauce. Brisket, pulled pork & ribs were our selection, all terrific. Lots of choices on the menu, service was great & definitely a repeat location.

Incredible food, incredible staff, incredible environment. You have to try this place. It felt very authentic and we spoke to a lot of locals that are regulars here. The staff made us feel like we were at home. Ask the staff for recommendations, they will take care of you, they are very knowledgeable.

Definitely a cool place, according to the Montana Kalispell locals this is one of the spots to be at. I enjoyed my food and the strawberry lemonade! I only wish I got my cornbread which the nice server lady promised it comes with my meal. They are super busy and the workers seemed to be doing their best trying to serve, so it’s okay. I’ll come back another time maybe for the cornbread I got the brisket meal with the two sides and the mac is snack! Get here early or take out because it gets busy very much so

The food was ABsoLUTEly delicious! I watched the cooks use their gloved hands to heap food onto the plate, or bowl or bread, making a generous pile of food! My pulled pork was perfect, the corn bread was perfect, and the jalapeño mac was the perfect side swimming in sauce. Service was prompt and pleasant. Price was reasonable. So why TWO stars. The food was so good, as to pull it up from the worst rating. But hygiene matters, to me a LOT. I watched the lead cook (the one with the pony tail) grab a rag to wipe down the counter (good). Then go back to cooking. WAIT, did he change gloves? Don’t think so, but I watched closer. He served up another plate or two, then pulled out the trash can and grabbed the bag and left with it. He came back with the same gloves? Or maybe he got a new clean pair out of sight… watched closer. He pulled out the trash can and put in a clean bag, and did NOT change gloves before handling food again. Piling on heaps of food… I’m so disappointed…. But I will not return to THIS #1 rated restaurant 😩 as I cannot risk it…

Can't say enough how much we LOVED this place!!! It was our last night of a large family vacation and the wife and I wanted a dinner out alone. Found the Desoto on yelp and it did not disappoint! Everything from the server (I forgot her name I think it was Tammy? she was awesome!) To watching the open kitchen cook while communicating very well with everyone. Everyone was in a good mood and made us feel comfortable. My wife had the Cobb salad. The server and I were able to talk her into the brisket over chicken- for which she was glad we did. I had the brisket cheesesteak and devoured every bite of it. We are already planning a return trip as we have quickly fallen in love with the area and will definitely be back to Desoto!!

This place is incredible, smokers going in the back, super friendly staff and all meals are off the charts. My wife each gad a Huk beer (huckleberry). She had the burger, I had the Rueban with pork belly over collard greens. Wow, 1st I've heard of that side so had to try it and it did not disappoint. We come on the regular from Edmonton Alberta and stop here every time. You gotta try.

SOOOOO GOOD!!! A must try in Kalispell/Flathead area. We had this for the first time at a catered party and could not wait to try it at the restaurant. We brought my parents who are from out of town and everyone said it was the best BBQ they have ever had. All of the staff was so friendly, welcoming, and nice. The restaurant was clean and service was great, the food came out fast and every single thing we got was so delicious, we tried almost everything! We even ordered ribs to go. We will definitely be back soon! Thank you for an incredible dining experience!

Walked in and got immediately seated. Service was quick and the menu has something for everyone. The food was all lukewarm so it was hard to rate just how amazing it could have been. Enjoyed the pulled pork and strawberry lemonade. Wished the brisket, cornbread, and mac were a little warmer but they seemed to have flavor. The coleslaw and collard greens weren't very impressive. Overall, I would check this place out.

I'm gluten free and had no issues with the menu. The collard greens side are amazing. Also greatly enjoyed the pull pork. There's not a huge amount of room and we did have to wait a bit for a table but it was worth the wait. Wait and bar staff were very friendly and attentive.

5 stars for everything, unreal good. And reasonably priced, especially for the quality of food. Went on a Tuesday and had a small wait for inside so prepare for a wait if on a busier days.

My first time here and I will definitely say not the last. This reminds me of my favorite barbeque restaurant growing up in Spokane Washington. I had the barbecue chicken sandwich with a side of macaroni and both were delicious-I cannot even describe the macaroni (& if macaroni is exciting, you know this is a stellar restaurant)! We had a sizable party that the restaurant catered to as best it could & the service was phenomenal. Our little waitress handled all of us with aplomb & professional speed. I did not try a dessert (which will be amended on my next visit, I assure you) but the strawberry lemonade was so delicious it should have counted as a dessert. Thank-you for a wonderful 50th & a fabulous dinner. Desoto-I will return......hungry.

I’ve never been a huge fan of pork belly until now! We had the PB&J pork belly bites and I was hooked! Had to order the pork belly BLT and I have to say it was one of the best things I’ve ever eaten. My wife had the Rueben and it was amazing as well. Everything was outstanding including the service. Highly recommend!!

Amazing food and staff as always. The only and very miniscule complaint is that it was very warm in there. Never remember it being so hot. Otherwise, 10/10 recommend. Portion size is always more than enough for the money. Staff is always friendly. We're gonna miss this place and the awesome car show put on by them.

After trying many many restaurants in Whitefish, we ended up driving here because they allowed our 10 lb little dog on their patio! Very friendly to us and the pup. Super food and excellent service. Highly recommend!

Recommend by multiple people, we chose to for dinner on a work trip. Outstanding in all categories! Atmosphere is rustic smoke house with a saloon antique shop twist. Open kitchen serving rancher style portions of home cooked favorites. I got the ribs and we shared nachos between the 3 of us, lots of food. The owner, wonderful woman, even stopped at our table to check in a few times. It’s a special place among special places.

AMAZING!! Awesome vibe and incredible food!! I sat at the bar, Andy, Mandy and Susie took amazing care of me. Food was the best I've had in the year I've been in Montana. I drove 2 hours from Thompson Falls to get good food and I was not disappointed. Pb& J pork belly bites live up to the hype, don't miss out 💯

There was a bunch of smoke inside... Definitely not from the smoker. This was the worst bbq I've ever had. If the good reviews aren't fake I'd be surprised. Got sick immediately upon leaving. None of the food had any taste.... I would have to try hard to make food so badly. Do yourself a favor and go anywhere else

The food is literally the worst. Go buy something from the frozen section and you'll have more flavor. There was no indication anything was smoked. The potato salad tasted like a sponge. The Mac n cheese was left in someone's pocket B4 thrown in the wash. The brisket was walked on the bottom of someone's shoe just prior to making its way to my plate. The nachos?! Oh no. Everything was frozen no doubt about it. If I don't get sick I'll be surprised. I was hungry, so I ate stuff but I never not finish my plate. These guys should be ashamed of themselves. Don't look at the BOT and FAKE reviews.

I provide MANY reviews and seldom if ever give a rating of 5/5. Nowhere is perfect right??? As I sit here, I cannot find ANY faults with our experience last night... Can't believe it took us so long to stop in. Food (BBQ) was SPOT ON (they have Collards 😀) and portions were large. I could have ordered off the sides and been happy. Cozy seating and great decor to keep you visually stimulated. Staff was super friendly and efficient. Oh, did I mention they have local micro's on tap?? A MUST STOP

This is one of the best restaurants in USA. The Reuben is a 10/10 best I've ever had... And I've been been everywhere. The bacon mac is also and so is the strawberry lemonade
