Love the concept of creating your own donut! I had the maple and bacon. It was fantastic!!

Maybe we got them on an off day, but overall, it was a confusing experience and not very friendly.

Honestly I love everything about this place, cute location, great service, amazing toppings, but only cake donuts which we did not like at all. Really bummed because the toppings were perfect, warm and amazing. Wish they had different options for the type of donut. We didn’t notice it was only cake donuts before we ordered.

Delicious Dunats with the possibility of personalizing your donuts with a vast choice of flavors starting from the cream, to the one to put on top of the cream and the one to vaporize at the end.... something stratospheric

I never even thought I had liked donuts that much, but this place changed that completely. Everything comes fresh, fast, and delicious, and fresh donuts blow any other kind out of the water. My only gripe with this place is that I can only have it when I’m traveling in the area.

Definitely a don't-miss stop while on AMI. The concept is fun and inviting and they have the process down to a science. Highly recommend

Ordered online for Donut Experiment in AMI. Picked up my order and driving home realized there was no drizzle on any donut I ordered. Drove back and (after getting someone’s attention to help me with no other customers waiting) told them drizzle was missing. They laughed, said that is really bad, acted like they couldn’t read the ticket to know how they were supposed to be prepared. Donuts weren’t worth the 2nd trip back, mediocre.

Our kids love this place! Service is fast and there are several outside tables.

Best donuts around … this place Anna Marie island is amazing even with the storms making a bit of a mess . And the people are sweet as can be the water is warm and beautiful .. I will come again

Delicious build your own donuts! We got a dozen to go and were not disappointed by a single flavor. They are very busy, but they are also quick! It's definitely worth checking this joint out! There are just some picnic tables outside, so the atmosphere is average. Seems as if their takeout business is the majority, and we will be back!

Fun experience to do with kids. Sadly not enough tables to sit to eat, nor a place to wash your hands after eating.

Found this place on TikTok before coming down to AMI and was very impressed! Super quick service and great donuts!

After making my wife’s coffee with regular milk instead of oat milk (which we paid for already), the man making the coffee threw a hissy fit over 86 cent difference because the poor cashier didn’t write “w/ oat milk” on the cup. The cashier told us to not worry about it, but the man refused to make my wife’s coffee unless we paid the extra 86 cents. Unfortunate since we loved it the first time we came. It might explain why it was completely empty when we walked in however.

Cute concept, the donuts were good but not amazing (I actually like Dunkin’ Donuts better). It was busy but the line moved quickly. Kind of a novelty thing , probably won’t do again but it was nice to do once.

My husband ordered 1 latte and 1 double espresso. He received 1 latte with double espresso inside…. I went there to ask if they can make another one. (I didn’t enjoy the latte with double espresso). But a dark haired , short guy said to me “ get out of here “ I felt embarrassed because of all the people in line that were looking at me…If you own a business, you don’t treat customers like that. The whole experience was horrific.

Not as good as used to be. We've been coming here every year since they opened years ago. Donuts used to be deep fried, served hot with crispy outside. Today donuts were soggy, texture of a sponge.

Fun donut shoppe. The donuts a really good even plain cake is yum! Iced coffe is really sweet, I should have opted for the lesser sweet option, but still good on a hot morning.

Wholesome and adorable little donut shop!! If you don't know what you want, no worries, they have little order forms!! They have an order form with 26 options for a total of 676 possibilities!!! Reasonably priced at just $17 a dozen approximately, left me feeling generous at the tip jar! Happy, friendly faces and amazing smells! The donut, tho!!! My first try was a simple maple frosted with sea salt! Heaven! I have never had a better donut. Little cripsy edges from being freshly baked and warm frosting. Devine!

They put tree nuts now in their donuts. They have no notice of that. They just have an allergy sign that says they will accommodate but obviously you can't accommodate if allergen is in your product. This is a scary situation with all the allergies people have now. The girl making my donuts was rude and the donuts are no where as good they were with old owner. So sad. We loved this place in years past.

We visited here on vacation. Basically, they make really good, fresh donuts. You order by marking on a slip of paper how you want each donut in your order to be made. They took our slip to start making them before we’d even paid, and this helped us get our donuts very shortly after ordering, maybe 2-3 minutes. The donuts were fresh and tasted really good. There was plenty of seating. The donuts are $1.75 each, which I think is a reasonable price given that they’re made to order. They’re not huge but they are well made. Anyway, I’d recommend it and would happily come back.

Meh. Probably fun for the kids, but not for those who want a great donut. Fast service. Have put your order on a sheet of paper. Would be better to just pick toppings as you go through the line, like Subway.

This place is amazing. If you wanna have a cheat day on your diet, go here and indulge. Always get one box for now and one for tomorrow since we don't live in town. It's just as good the next day. If you don't find a donut you like here, then maybe you need to get yourself checked out with your primary care physician because you're loco.

Came here on the morning of the 18th during my spring break, was not disappointed. Very friendly staff and fun environment. I enjoyed collectively customizing a dozen donuts, while they were also very tasty. For the coffee crazed people, they do have tasty hot and cold options. Regardless, at the time $16 for a dozen customizable donuts is a great price, especially at the beach. I was fully expecting $25+, and was surprisingly mistaken.

Really cool concept. We stopped here yesterday after seeing the sunrise on the beach. There’s very limited parking even though we arrived pretty soon after they opened. The donuts were surprisingly good and more affordable than I expected. We used the order form to customize a half dozen and it was complete within minutes. The iced coffee was very sweet, but delicious. Some staff was more accommodating than others but overall a good experience!

A really fun visit for people who have never seen anything like it, every order comes completely customizable and fit to your order. Every donut comes with whatever you like, and its a hot spot for families with small kids. Every time we go, the food is done and eaten in less than five minutes, leaving barely crumbs behind. Expect a short wait, the line really varies day to day and time to time, but its always worth it. Staff are super fast and effective, and it’s a really fun place to watch your ‘experiments come to life’. 10/10, visit every time we come.

You have to try the House Iced coffee if you like sweet coffee. It’s so good. Don’t go to Island Donuts. This place is 10x better. Donuts are so fresh and the staff is super friendly.

The donut shop has many options and the one that I got was very good. However, when we were in line to pay, we missed the sign that said “no cash”, so when we tried to pay cash since it was only $1.75, the cashier gave us a very dirty look and was not pleasant, instead of explaining that we should have paid in card. The attitude of the cashier made us not feel welcome there, so we will not go back.

We liked this place so much we stopped here two different mornings during our vacation. Personalized hand-made to order vanilla fry cakes. You fill out a sheet (I called it taking my morning test) for your icing, topping and drizzle. I enjoyed several from the maple bacon, Key Lime pie, and the triple chocolate. They even have a Christmas holiday special dozen available. Bottomless coffee available. Latte’s, iced coffee and other drinks. Very friendly staff. We were there off season so it wasn’t too busy but I’m told they sell out quick in season. Limited front parking and outdoor seating. Clean with competitive pricing. I would recommend.

Took it a block over to North Shore Cafe for a perfect donut-coffee pairing with a view!

The staff is very welcoming, attentive and friendly! Went for am coffee - hot and black, would not recommend. If you like sugar and cream, they have many options for you.

Ahhh We wanted this to be so good, it was ok, it's cool that you can basically design your donut, but the overall taste is just average IMO. Staff was cool so if in the area might be good to checkout, but it's nothing like a good DD or krispy kreme.🤷🏽‍♂️

Came to the donut experiment for the second time since we started coming down to Anna Maria and this place is nothing but amazing! Everything is very reasonably priced and the donuts come out just as good every-time! The staff is always attentive and very friendly! These donuts are fun and pretty good. The base donut is always the same and it’s a vanilla fried cake donut..you then get to pick your frosting/glaze, toppings, and drizzle. There are tons of options and the coffee is great! It can get busy during peak times, so you may want to order ahead online!

I ordered the half dozen assortment pack since it was my first time ordering here and they were great! I ordered in advance online and my donuts were ready when I arrived and they made my coffee fresh. Very clean inside and great service. It is off season and the store was quiet when I arrived for my 7:30 pick up and I had no issue with parking.

It was interesting it's nice to be able to get what you want on the doughnuts I'm more of a filled doughnuts type of person..so it wasn't as sensational as it could have 3 parking spots with 1 being a handicap spot is a little rough for parking ... I suggest going as early as you can 😉 the coffee was AMAZING I'd totally be back for their lattes 🤩

We loved The Donut Experiment! The idea of customizing your own donut was such a highlight for my kids! They are a cake-style donut so if you’re not into that, this might not be up your alley. My favourite hands down was the maple bacon with peanuts! Absolutely divine!
