Excellent service provided by Sean, give us plenty of time with the menu and gave us plenty of time to enjoy our dish. Very happy with the service. Would highly recommend him. The food was excellent and very nicely plated however the host weren’t the best entering and exiting. They were on their phones and seemed a bit bothered when they had to get off to greet and dismiss us.

We visited The Earle for our anniversary and it was the perfect spot for such occasion! The food was innovative and delicious, it was very hard to settle on what dish to order. That's usually my first clue I'm going to love it and return for the other options! The cocktails were unique and delicious. Our server Marisa was perfectly knowledgeable, attentive, and sweet. The jazz music was sublime and tended towards love songs my partner and I recognized. Complete 10/10!

Quiet and comfortable inside dining experience. Ambient temperature was very comfortable, service excellent. Their by the glass wine selection is good with something for every taste. Food was piping hot when it arrived, perfectly cooked steak however the potatoes were quite salty-the only reason not 5 stars.

My birthday dinner was lovely and great service but we sat at a table for two all evening, not enjoying the music which was disappointing. The room was off the bar and people there were loud and returning from the restroom there were lots of open tables in the main room. So we were the only table in the room for two hours. We’ve been coming to The Earle for decades so that was disappointing.

The entrance to this restaurant needs to be revamped! From the street does not look like a restaurant and the young women who are hostesses were not very experienced and dressed like in a Halloween costume. Meh. We've been here a lot over the past 10 years since moving to the area, dining with just the two of us to much larger parties and private rooms. I've always wondered why they never have specials. Chefs not wanting to stretch their creative chops I guess. And it shows as the menu just becomes same old same old. A few years ago with a large party one of our out-of-town guests said the lamb chops were the best he's ever had (and he's dined across the country from New York to LA). Our most recent visit a few weeks ago, the lamb was tough and lacked flavor. (our dogs did like later that evening). Let's go Earle, step up your game. (Wine list and sommelier are the best around, but one cannot live on drink alone - albeit I am willing to try at times).

This may have been the best dining experience I’ve had in quite a while. The kitchen is the core of any restaurant, and it delivered what may be the best steak I’ve ever had, and I eat a lot of steak. It was incredibly tender, even more tender than some filets I’ve had, and perfectly seasoned - not overly so, but rather just right. The bar offers a wide range of truly special cocktails, all of which are worth trying; you won’t be disappointed. The service was, as usual, top-notch. They are seasoned professionals. We were never rushed but never left waiting. The sommelier was also, as usual, top-notch, giving advice and passing on her knowledge on a variety of topics. I love The Earle not just because it’s an outstanding full-service restaurant, but because of its ambiance. The four of us were able to converse easily even when the live music was playing and had a sense of privacy due to the winecork-lined walls of our table area. Overall, once again, an outstanding evening. I hope to have many more in the future.

After decades of ordering the excellent classic dishes of stuffed mushrooms, veal, lamb & duck we were excited to try two new dishes on the pasta menu. The generous portion of tender tasty meatballs came with an excellent fresh tasting, bright tomato sauce. The new shrimp pasta was also lovely with mint & pistachio offering a lovely contrast to the hot peppers tomatoes and creamy goat cheese. We customized which pasta we wanted and the kitchen made adjustments for food allergies. As usual the glass of Amarone wine (so hard to get elsewhere) was luscious and perfect with the food.

The atmosphere is upscale without being intimidating, the food is delicious. And there was a live jazz musician (guitar) (on a Tuesday night!) playing standards from the American songbook. The Earle is one of our “go-to” restaurants for special occasions. The menu has been consistent over time, while prices have gone up (in keeping with the post-COVID world). Food is very well presented & delicious. Located in the basement, the ambience is mellow, with soft, slightly muted lighting. Live piano music accompanies dinner starting at 7 pm. The Earle can get noisy, especially if a loud person or group is seated nearby. We started out in the back alcove, which can give the sense of being secluded, but had the unfortunate luck of having a group of three businessmen seated next to us early into our meal. There were times when we couldn’t hear each other, or the piano. The business party wasn’t being raucous, but clearly had no concept of “indoor voice.” Not the fault of the restaurant, just luck of the draw for this particular meal. I think next time we’ll request a booth, if available. We will continue to enjoy The Earle for special occasions. I would caution, however, about parking in the lot diagonally across, at Huron & Ashley. While most AA public lots are under $2 per hour, this lot charged us $9 for ~2 hours. It used to be the same prices as the other lots, but apparently is no longer controlled by the DDA. It’s also a “credit card only” lot, & doesn’t give a receipt without you asking. City-owned lots are nearby, & will be our choice in the future.

Overall fantastic experience, lots of energy as the room filled up on a Friday night. Our server was there when we needed him but not overbearing. The Sommelier was excellent and we enjoyed her recommendations. I would say avoid the beef bourguignon. You’re paying $37.95 for what is essentially beef stroganoff, delicious but not worth the price point. The salmon in puff pastry is to die for however. Solid meal and would return if ever in Ann Arbor again.

It had been quite a few years since we ate at the Earle. Happy to see that it is still going strong. Very good attentive service. Appetizers were good but not particularly impressive, but our main dishes were excellent, which included three seafood dishes (one was a salmon in puff pastry, described by one of our party as a “Salmon Wellington”). Two had the sea scallops, and I opted for what was described as a Veal Scallopini, but was more accurately a Veal Marsala, in a wonderful creamy Marsala based sauce. Very Tasty.

I've been here quite a few times, but the 2nd to last time was at least 10 years ago. This last time, it was highly disappointing. The duck, my most cherished dish, was small in comparison. Once could argue about the time frame between and maybe my memory was different but there's no escaping the horrible mildew and mold smell that permeates the whole restaurant. I'm sure it was charming and cleaner before, but now it has just fallen downhill. The carpets were almost as bad as roller rink carpets, never cleaned, dingy. Of the three courses we got, salad/soup/entree, nothing really struck me as amazing. French onion soup on par with fast food. We will probably never come again. C'est la vie!

This place has set a standard that should be obtained by ALL levels of eateries in the food service industry. The salmon and shrimp dish my wife had was, (and these are her words) EXQUISITE!!!!!!! My four cheese penne pasta with chicken was so good that licking the plate clean was a definite possibility, but, for decorum's sake, I Dare not. Let me NOT forget the risotto balls. These little fried bits of other worldly goodness will make you swear off mozzarella sticks for good. If you are in Ann Arbor this place is a MUST visit. This is hard to rate. The restaurant is a French bistro. While the service was kind and restaurant clean, the lack of creativity and thought that went into the dishes left me wanting more especially for the prices. Nothing about the penne cheese dish was creative and could have been made out of a can. Wine was nice. Shrimp was fine but again nothing creative or worth the high price. Has potential but off the mark for me.

I made the reservation for 9 people and stated that it was for a business, which is one of the questions. When we arrived at the restaurant we were in the brighter portion of the restaurant which was great. We were all chatting and talking about our day and then a gentleman came out and started playing the guitar right directly next to our table. He was fantastic, however, we were there for business purposes. Sitting us directly next to the musician was not appropriate. That being said the food was fantastic, everyone was very pleased. Our waitress seemed annoyed with us a few times, but she was attentive. I will definitely be back but maybe just look at where you put people when they are there for business and when a musician is playing.
