Great little pub! .. I went here as someone recommended the chips with curry sauce which I have to say was worth it .. other than that, the atmosphere was great, staff were warm & friendly and with all Irish pubs, you'll get a great variety of choice on Irish whiskeys

How lucky I was to find this place. God loves me! Great atmosphere, friendly service and the evening's playlist was made for me. Guinness. Shepard's Pie and a bread pudding I would kill for. What an evening. The Field. From now on my number 1 in San Diego!!!

I came here to specifically try the Irish Coffee and it is magically delicious. Cheers to a place that keeps its history and foundation alive in this place. A sight to behold and next I’ll come back to try the Guinness. - I saw someone holding a baby here so i guess it’s kid friendly Cheers!!!!

I kinda feel every "Irish" America pub I go to in the states is pretty much the same, but hmm, maybe that is the point for its target audience aka Irish Americans. That all said, the food was good, service however was poor with the usual lack of interest I would expect from an Irish waiter (that was not a bad thing as they left us alone to chat). So I guess if you don't want to book a flight on Aer Lingus to get to Dublin to get a taste of my home country this is not a bad place to start off. Watch the prices though, my burger was $22. So for me, I won't be back !

I really can't comment about the food because we didn't have it. Unless you count Guinness as food because it might be considered one of the important daily food groups. Then yes "the food" was excellent! We came by to imbibe a couple pints of Guinness stout around 4pm and were met with delicious pints and amazing service. I recommend this place!

I actually ate twice at the Field Irish Pub on successive days -- first for a solo lunch and the following evening for happy hour beer & snacks with my husband before a game at Petco Park. Both visits were similar, sitting at a high top table on the outdoor patio, located on the street on 5th Ave (which is closed off to traffic). On both occasions, the staff was stretched pretty thin for the number of patrons, so service could be slow but unfailingly friendly. It's best to know what you want and order it immediately when the server first comes to your table. You may not see her for awhile if you tell her you are still deciding. On both visits we stuck to familiar bar standards. For my solo lunch, a bacon burger with fries, washed down with a couple of Ballast Point Sculpin IPAs. For our pre-game happy hour, 3 sliders (served individually at $4/each), as well as a combo platter of snacks (potato skins, onion rings, fries, and chicken tenders), along with a couple of Half Door IPAs. The burger for lunch was better than our happy hour snacks, as the grease quotient for the latter was pretty high. We were pleased to discover that, despite the baseball game, they were offering their Happy Hour menu that evening. Many of the bars in the area suspend HH pricing when there's a home game at Petco. We'd certainly return.

We came here for dinner and drinks and the place is kind of interesting.. its a bit too much of what someone thinks an Irish pub should be. For us it was too dingy and dark and worn. they did not have a table for 4 available inside that had a bit more light so we ended up on the patio and had some drinks. I'm sure the place is a blast late night.

Also on tap is Harps, Smithwicks, and other beer. They also have an excellent Irish and Scotch whiskey selection. I had the Guinness beef stew, and curry fries & potato skins with our group. Others had the Corned Beef and Cabbage, Whiskey Chicken Boxy, and Lamb Shepherds Pie. All was terrific. Unfortunately I forgot to get photos of the food, next time! Loved this one! Traveling across the US, Irish pubs are a bit hit or miss. This was a hit. Walking in, you immediately hear the music and see the old wooden tables and chairs and bar. Everything “feels” right on. The tap list and whiskeys on the drinks menu confirm the same thing. Food options are solid, too, including a strong highlight of more traditional Irish fares like potato soup, champ, and a variety of pies. For the less familiar, there’s also a good variety of American dishes- the guy next to me said the burger was really good. Personally, I ordered the lamb shepherds pie - it was probably the best one I’ve had on the west coast. Delicious meat and veg blend with an incredibly flavorful gravy. The potatoes and Irish cheddar on top were baked to perfection. Overall, excellent meal and it was relatively inexpensive for CA. Highly recommend visiting!

We discovered the Field Irish Pub in the Gaslamp Quarter of San Diego on YouTube and it looked authentic, so we added it to our list of places to visit during our ‘Big California Adventure’. By the time we got to the Field Irish Pub on the vibrant Fifth Avenue after a 3 mile walk, we were ready for cooling and alcoholic drinks. The very strong smell of cannabis on the way in to the pub was a little off-putting (might have been somebody sat outside where it is legal) but there was a good atmosphere in the pub and the staff gave us a friendly greeting. The Field Irish pub had a good look, with wooden interiors and from what we’d seen online, almost everything was indeed from Ireland. It seemed genuine. An Irish lady, who could have been the owner as far as we knew, asked if we were okay, even though she wasn’t (apparently) on shift. Friendly! So far, so good. We took prime seats at the bar and watched the L.A. Dodgers -v- San Diego Padres baseball game on a TV, knowing the battle was taking place just around the corner from where we were. The 3rd game of 3 was to take place tomorrow and we had originally intended to come back to the Field Irish pub for more drinks before and/or after we’d been to the game. We’d dutifully followed their Facebook page before our arrival and had seen the tasty looking food and thought we’d order that on a second visit to the pub - however the service we received on this visit was so dire we knew we would not be back. In the 2 hours we were in the pub, the staff behind the bar rarely approached us - even when our glasses were empty. We tried making eye contact as they were fussing around and chatting to their coworkers so that we could order more drinks, but it was almost like we were invisible - and the bar wasn’t really that busy. This was probably a good thing, as we only had 6 drinks (black and tan, Bud Light x 3 and Harp lager x 2 in imperial pints, not American sized pints) and the bill came to $57.99. Including the gratuity, we left a total of $70.00. Really, we shouldn’t have left one! This almost defined our experience of a visit to a San Diego Irish pub, but we unexpectedly ended up inside another - and only five minutes away with cheaper drinks and very friendly service.

Wasn’t feeling like too much so get a chicken tenders and two portions of curry chips for both me and my boyfriend , whilst the portions were significant , it was still expensive for the food we got. I just can't accept the underhandedness of hidden charges. This is a charge or charges that you do not made aware of until the final bill comes.
