Great evening out with the family!

Great food. You get what you pay for.

Had the all-you-can-eat catfish buffet. Fish was hot, fresh and delicious. Batter was light and crispy. Start out with 3 ample filets and when time for a refill on fish or hushpuppies? Just tell em' how many. Self seating with wheelchair accessibility. Service is prompt and friendly. Can't wait to return.

Food was good, we waited a while for our food, the price was ok on some of the items on their menu and a little high on the rest of the menu items....restaurant was clean, didnt see much of our waitress, did see a lot of people just standing and talking in the kitchen

On a trip through Poplar Bluff, we stopped at the Fishin’ Pig for lunch. Our server was very friendly, our food (catfish plate and a burger) was good and didn’t take long too long.

WILL NEVER BE BACK! Waitress was EXTREMELY rude! Baked potato was so cold it would not melt butter! Hush puppies were hard as rocks and everything was a greasy mess! I do not recommend eating here! Extremely overpriced and service sucks!!!

Salad was good, the brisket was tough and not cooked long enough.

Terrible food, service, and overpriced. Waited over an hour for food, just for it to be well undercooked shrimp and mediocre sides. When we asked for it to be taken off the bill due to not wanting to wait any longer with whiney kids tired of waiting, the waitress lied and said she would take it off the bill. Instead we waited and waited for the check and then she came back with it recooked in a to go box and argued with us how she couldn't take it off the bill. They have also recently changed their prices and it was outrageous considering the quality of food. Other people in our party got pork steak and they said it was not good as well.

Don’t skip this! The triple pig po boy is amazing!!!!! Gosh is excellent and bbq is so great. Sides can’t be beat.

First time at this place. It was amazing food and service. Holly was one of the best and friendliest waitresses I've met yet. I will definitely be going back!

I was hyped up from word of mouth about this place. But I was disappointed on the food. Super greasy, burnt apps. And the main corse of catfish and pork steak was far from the best. Fish was cooked hard. And the pork was tough. It was a hot day and you could tell it in the building. It was not cool and pleasant. The wait staff were awesome left them with a nice tip just for dealing with that place. The beans and baked potato was the best part of the meal.

This place is great! Fish, ribs , What more can you ask for? Decent priced too!

The meal was huge, I gave my baked potato away as I couldn't eat anymore. The Pork Steak was close to an inch thick, very tender, seasoned well, and tasted good. The Cajun fries not as spicy as I expected but still good enough. The sweet tea was in a large cup and the waitress never let us go thirsty. Definitely a good place to eat.

The catfish po boy was perfectly made. The bun was toasted and added an extra crunch. Fried green tomatoes were also great. Fast, friendly service!

Neat looking place.. that’s the only compliment I can give. Our 2 piece catfish and fry meals and pork nacho meal was very disappointing. The oil for frying the food must be on too low a temp bc everything was oil soaked. The hush puppies were more oil than bread and everything was bland. And this all cost $50. I don’t recommend.

I returned to this restaurant with seven colleagues. One group member especially likes this restaurant and would eat three meals daily there. For me, it is just average. Gravel parking lot. It's a questionable part of town. Just saying.

I have eaten here a few times. The food tastes good. I had a to-go order. I asked for no jalapeno because I have gastrointestinal issues. I was given jalapenos anyway. I spoke to Tristen (?). He apologized and said,"I wouldn't want you to get a tummy ache." Seriously? I am a grown woman, probably old enough to be his mother. My pork bites were very fatty. Some people like that. I, however, do not. My side of Mac and cheese was small, like literally 5 bites. It tasted great. I have posted photos of the fat I didn't want to consume and the size of my side. Update: we decided to try again just recently and everything was good with the exception of the catfish. It tasted like it was cooked in really old oil. I would also like to let everyone know that there is no discounts whatsoever no senior discounts no veteran discounts no health care discounts nothing and they also charge every patron, no matter how much their total is, a convenience fee for using a debit card or credit card. However I would like to compliment Cindy she is a waitress there and she is extremely nice very knowledgeable of the food and how it's prepared and very fast on her feet.

Service, food and atmosphere was ok...I've had better and I've had worse. I ordered ribs. Potato salad and Cole slaw. My food tasted ok but my Cole slaw and potato salad were warm... My wife ordered catfish and fries. Her food was not hot when it came to the table. There weren't many people in the place so I didn't understand why it took 45 minutes to get our food. I wouldn't care too much about the waiting time if the food was right when it arrived. I was sat looking at a big hairy animal head on the wall...that wasn't a pleasant sight !!! Our waitress was very nice but the service was hit and miss. Based on this experience I would not want to return.

During my recent visit, I ordered the Triple Pig Po Boy Sandwich for the first time and really enjoyed it. However, there was an issue with the billing that I'd like to bring to your attention. The sandwich comes with French Fries, and premium sides are available for a two-dollar upcharge. I wanted to have the included fries along with an extra side of Mac n Cheese. However, on the receipt, I noticed that I was charged $2.00 for the fries and another $2.00 for the Mac n Cheese. This seemed odd to me because the fries were supposed to be included, while the Mac n Cheese, as an additional side, should have cost $3.79. When I brought this to the attention of our server, there was some confusion. Despite my explanation, the server insisted that I was mistaken. Even after the receipt was corrected, the server continued to defend the decision to charge $2.00 for each item rather than the regular price of $3.79 for the Mac n Cheese alone. It was frustrating because the fries were supposed to be included, and there shouldn't have been an extra charge for them. The server even claimed that she was trying to save me money by not charging the full price for the Mac n Cheese. In the end, I gave up trying to explain, but it was disappointing that the server remained convinced that she was right, even though the evidence suggested otherwise.

💯Thee best catfish I've ever had! Excellent family and friends, I commend you all in your continued efforts. The slaw is certainly an exciting complement to any dish. 🤟

Cool little place, the food had some character to it. The PO Boy with queso was interesting

Let's start with the food... Cole slaw: Looked like KFC slaw. And, not the nasty stuff they serve today but the good KFC slaw from back in the 80's. It tasted just as good. Could have eaten just that for a meal and been happy. Do NOT pass up on this should you decide to eat there. Potato salad: Looked at first glance like it was store bought from walmart. Tasted like nothing walmart has ever come close to producing. Was absolutely fantastic. Again, would have made a whole meal. Cucumber salad: Not the world's best, but far above average. Needed a bit more tomato, but was otherwise a fine side dish. Fried fish: While I prefer a more "fishy" tasting fried fish, there was nothing at all wrong with this. A solid offering cooked to perfection. And the tartar sauce was second to none. If it wasn't home made, they're fooling me pretty well. If they're not selling to-go jars of their tartar sauce, they're missing out on a new revenue stream Hush Puppies: Here's where things start to go off the rails. The first one was over-cooked. Instead of a nice crisp outter shell with a soft tasty inside, it was almost 3/4 of the way crisp and all the flavor was inside a tiny little ball of fluff in the inside. The second puppie was completely burned through. Even a generous helping of the fantastic tartar sauce couldn't redeem it. Pulled pork: The single item by which I judge all barbecue joints. They did not fare well here. While there were already 3 sauces to choose from on the table, for some reason they served the pulled pork pre-sauced. Who does that? And, of course, they chose to pre-sauce with their spicy sauce, which can't be overcome by a more fitting sauce from the selection on the table. You're stuck with it. I was able to pull out a little bit of meat without sauce on it to test. The flavor was actually fantastic. Sadly, the meat was completely dried out. Now we know why they had to sauce it before serving. Lastly, the coconut cake: This was listed as the special dessert of the day on the board at the front door and I'd been looking forward to trying it during my entire meal. As I ate, I overheard the servers asking every other table if they were ready for dessert and I couldn't wait for my turn. Unfortunately, I never had the opportunity to try it. Instead of being offered dessert, my bill was unceremoniously dropped on my table even before I had finished my meal. I can offer no review of what I had no chance at all to even order, much less taste. And, that's the biggest reason for the low score. I felt as if I was being pushed out the door. It wasn't like anyone was waiting for a table. I can forgive the crunchy hushpuppies. And the dried pulled pork can be chalked up to a bad batch. The weird need to pre-sauce might just be something that's done in that particular rural tiny town along the highway. But, I can't forgive being made to feel like it was time for me to go while everyone around me was being asked to stay.

The food was pretty good with the exception of the beef brisket, which was quite tough and mostly fat and gristle. 🤷‍♀️ The servers were incredibly nice, helpful, and very attentive! If we're ever in the area again, we will be back. 😊

Appears to be popular with locals. We visited from out of town and were slightly disappointed with the food. Loved the fried green beans and catfish, but the hush puppies and brisket were over cooked and underwhelming. It might be because we came with high expectations. Our server Brody was very helpful and friendly. A good face for the restaurant.

The portions seemed to have shrunk, I had the half chicken dinner. My chicken was average and okay, but my roll was an old balled up piece of bread, my baked potato tasted old and looked it, my mom said her's was good. She agreed that my okra tasted like catfish, the meat, not just the cornmeal coating, and almost all their sides have pork in them. Worse were the prices. My mom had beans and veggies, I had the chicken dinner with higher prices okra, and we both had water. $28.00. no desserts. For this price I could have gone for Mexican. Frankly everywhere is too high. But at least it tastes better elsewhere. It is sad, because last year at this time, the food was so much better. Good waitresses and staff, very nice people.

Had the brisket dinner, green beans Mac cheese and bbq beans .brisket was tender a little dried out .m&c was good .

I had the pork steak -it was the worst I have ever had. It was tough tasted very old and leftover. I cannot believe they would serve that to anyone. I should have complained then but did not to make a big deal but the more I thought about it the more disgusted I felt

I took my granddaughter and my grandson there for dinner. The food was awesome. The service was great. I had the fish and pig plate where you got three pieces of nice fish and about 8 oz. Of pork I believe it was and it was delicious and the sides were awesome. Everything was delicious! My granddaughter had the shrimp and they were lightly battered perfectly and tastes delicious. The spice was perfect. My grandson had the chicken and dumplings and he loved them!

I had the Philly brisket po boy with a side of baked beans. It was flavorful but the meat portion on the sandwich could have been bigger; there was more bread than meat in each bite. However, my sister had the pork steak dinner and it was an eyeful, a plateful, and was very tasty (she shared bites). Also, I had the "homemade" Mississippi mud cake, which when it arrived was clearly made from a cake mix.

It was a lovely Sunday afternoon in October - the kind of day that makes you want to take yer pig fishing. We had traveled across several states in the morning and were looking for the best lunch in Poplar Bluff. Fishin' Pig had high reviews - best in class. We were pretty disappointed. The brisket was dry and more like a roast than brisket. Smoked chicken was also dry.

Can't say enough good about this place. Some wonderful tasty food can be eaten here.

Largest pork steak l have ever seen.

Was visiting from out of town and thought we would try their catfish dinner. Service was good and staff was friendly. Seemed to be very popular and busy. However, the fried catfish was not very good. No seasoning, just warm not hot. Hushpuppies were overcooked and no flavor. Sides were just average. Would not recommend the catfish.

Visiting town we got delivery. Saturday-only brisket was not very good. Small portion, dry, under smoked and under seasoned. Needed sauce but there wasn’t any. Sides were OK but came in tiny condiment size containers. Maybe four spoonfuls of Mac n cheese. Best thing we had was the Cajun fries. Tab was 50 bucks for two after all the delivery fees ware added on. Probably should have done Arby’s.

I thought I posted a review here but only had posted it on their Facebook page. Not everyone does social media so wanted to come here and leave the same review. We visited Poplar Bluff in April after traveling for about 3 hours we decided to give it a try. Nikki was our waitress, she stepped in when she noticed that we had not been waited on and could not have asked for a better waitress. I initially went in to order BBQ because it is rare that I like ANY restaurants fish. I decided to chance it and order the fish and shrimp (just in case I didn’t like the fish) it came with 3 sides- 🤯 a lot of food! Being a food critic at every single place I go, I have nothing bad to say about any of my food I received here. If it wasn’t so far away, we would definitely stop in often! Definitely will if we are passing through in the future.

This restaurant is a lot like the old original family-owned cafes. Nothing is fancy about it, just perfectly prepared food served in classic cafe style. Quantities are plentiful, service is spot-on. And the food is delicious. Everything we ordered came exactly as described. I highly recommend the Fishin' Pig.

This place has a hometown, country vibe with some of the best food. Everything was served within a matter of minutes. Food was hot, but not so hot it would burn your mouth. I had the catfish po boy. Never had a po boy before. Just a hint of Cajun seasonings without all the heat of cayenne pepper. Beautiful flavor for a mild mouthed Yankee girl! They ought to serve warnings about how big the portions are! So generous and tasty! Kinda wish we'd come this way again so we could have more food!

Not a fancy place, many older memorabilia for decoration ribs were tender and melt in your mouth delicious. Very enjoyable.

Just finished most delicious meal!! Catfish and sides fabulous!! Our waitress was Nikki and you could not find a better one anywhere, We were seated immediately and our order and drinks taken care of very quickly!! Food was brought to us hot fresh nicely placed on plate and plenty of it!! Everyone and everything was super nice, Thank you for making meal outstanding!

The food was not what I was expecting for the price. You can seat yourself, I even asked to be seated by a wall and was just looked at like I was asking the young lady for a million dollars. The atmosphere was good, a bit out dated but nice.

I had an excellent 3pc Catfish Dinner. The cornmeal batter was light and delicately seasoned. The fish was cooked perfectly and the sides were tasty. Our server, Holly, was very friendly and made certain we had a great experience during for our initial visit. My wife said the Fried Green Tomato Cheeseburger was excellent. We shared the Portobello Mushroom appetizer and thought the red pepper dipping sauce elevated a standard opener to a different level. Very pleased and regretful that such a place didn’t exist in PB when I lived there 23 years ago.

Omg, they have chicken and dumplings and it's so good. I do wish there was more chicken but its still so good.

I loved going here but the fish was a little dry and the bathroom didn't have any soap :≤ but the service was amazing and yummy food.

This was and is our favorite place to eat out in Poplar Bluff. We met a couple of family members there and had great food and a wonderful waitress in Holly!

Pathetic brisket- 2 small strips of dry grey flavorless meat. Baked potato had an off smell and black soggy skin. Salad was ok. Fried shrimp small and nothing special. All 3 bbq sauces were bland. Worst meal I’ve had in quite a while. Fast food would be better and much cheaper- nearly $50 for 2 people.

Food was spectacular and good portions.

Special smoked brisket=2 pieces of grey leathery dry brisket. Off- smelling baked potato. No real butter for the potato- cheap vegetable oil spread. Weird pink raspberry salad dressing. Tiny fried shrimp. Unimpressive bland barbecue sauces. Lettuce itself was ok. Not tempted to finish my meal.

2nd time there leaving me very disappointed in the meat. First pulled pork second time brisket. Both were very dry. If not for having side dipping sauce I wouldn't have eaten either. Service was great! Thank you Jada!

Really good food friendly atmosphere

Extremely slow, 20 minutes to sit down for 6, then took over an hour to get our food, waitress told us at one point that the food was just about to come out, 30 minutes later we got our food, she even stopped coming around for a while. She was nice when she did come. My food was not hot or fresh by the time I got it. Won't be back any time soon. Also a table of 4 that came in well after us got seated, and then got their food and then finished their food before we even got ours. Poor management. We were there for over 2 hours for lunch...

Absolutely excellent establishment the food is great the service is great, if you're a fan of Southern cooking or even barbecue this is where you need to be!

Great place to get your catfish fix!

I rarely post reviews unless it is a really good one, but I had to on this one. The atmosphere is nice. It all went down hill after that. It was not busy with only about 8 tables that had people at them and it took almost 10 minutes for them them to get order for drinks (we almost left). It took so long that we ordered our food at the same time once they did come. Our food came pretty quick and I was not impressed at all. The slaw and beans were good along with their pulled pork. However, my baked potato was so cold the butter wouldn’t even melt and the ribs were tough, fatty and little flavor. Not once did a server come over to ask us how things were until the very end when we were ready for the check. I did let the sever about the potato and she said that they would get another and I said no because were already done. Also, their fried shrimp tasted old or frozen. Their service was not friendly and wasn’t inviting. They don’t greet you at the door very nice. Gave them a 2 only because their beans, slaw, bbq sauce and pulled pork were decent. Other than that I would have gave them a 1. This was around 3;00 pm on Saturday 12 February when we were traveling.

Excellent food and great service

Service was super slow. Food wasnt hot. The ribs were average at best. Not tender. Not fall off the bone. If you have to cut ribs with a knife then its not good. Portions were huge though.

Better than any other dinner I've been to in poplar bluff only complaint was I feel they should season there Cajun fries before cooking not after. Which is probably due to then being pre cut and frozen made them way too salty like they used crab boil but everyone else was great

The food was great. It was our first visit and our server, Holly, was awesome. She took the time to tell us about their menu. We had the hog trough and a fish plate. Both were great.

Was traveling through town and this restaurant appealed to me and all the reviews were excellent. So very happy we stopped at this restaurant. Food was delicious and Holly our server was the best! Best food and service we've had in a very long time. We will definitely be back to the Fishing Pig restaurant and hopefully will be lucky enough to have Holly as our server again. The fried catfish was the best we've had in a very long time and the fried green tomatoes was so delicious! It was a wonderful experience and a wonderful evening! Thank you!

I don't always write a good review, but when I do it is well deserved. I just wanted to let you know just how great of a server you have on your team. Cassie kept my drink full and brought our food out right away. She acknowledged us the minute we were seated, introduced herself and was very pleasant and personable. I used to wait tables so I am very critical when I get bad service and very generous when I get amazing service such as Cassie's the night of the parade. I will be asking for her each time I visit.

Slightly above average overall. Here is good and bad. Good: My server was attentive and upbeat. Menu is expansive Have not got a bad item yet. Good side items. Other My food was cold and it was very slow to come out The expansive menu makes them decent most items but excellent at none. Decent fish, decent bbq. Better fish at a fish house, better bbq at bbq restaurant. Make sense? Prices are decent for portion sizes. M In summary. I love the independent guys and root for them. Menu items looked amazing. There were 5 of us. All the food was okay. Not bad. Best item: catfish poor boy, sauce makes it work.

We stopped at Fishin' Pig today on the spur of the moment. COMPLETELY blown away by how good the food was. Holly was our server. She was incredibly friendly and never missed a beat tending to all her customers. We were just passing through to visit friends, but we're hoping to return soon!

The fried green tomato appetizer was outstanding. The breading was light so the flavor of the tomato shined through. The catfish was cooked perfect and the breading was delicious. The restaurant was clean and so we're the bathrooms We drove 2 hours to eat here and we weren't dissapointed!

I eat here every weekend! My daughter and I LOVE the chicken tenders and mac and cheese! Very family friendly atmosphere!

The food was just okay. It took a VERY long time for our food to come out even though the restaurant was not busy at the time. We were a large party of 15 so that might have had something to do with it but it took over an hour to get our food. Once we did, the food was average. I got the Hog Trough, an appetizer, and it was weirdly sweet. It was all things that SHOULD have worked beautifully together but ended up being a bland yet overly sweet mess.

The steak was impossible to eat It was so salty. No adjustments were made. We were in a group. Spent $150.00. Mostly inedible.
