We stopped by and ordered a few sandwiches, I had their Cuban sandwich which is probably the best Cuban I've had in the North East. Give them a try, but bring cash, they don't take credit cards.

I visit the Island Chef all the time. It is my go to sandwich shop in the valley. The Cuban is honestly my favorite sandwich of all time and the service is amazing, such kind women running this place. Highly, highly recommend! Just make sure you bring cash😊 Thank you Island Chef for making the best sandwiches!!

This is a take out spot with a small market. Owner is very friendly and casual. The sandwiches were large. I would.share my next one. Robust with flavors and food combinations. Bread was very fresh.

Not your typical sub shop, a very limited menu. However, everything we got was very good. Cash only.

Food is outstanding. Service and atmosphere inside is odd. The doors say order at the side window, the side window says come inside. There's no indoor seating and the staff is courteous, but not friendly because they are super busy. Inside is weird and squished in the front, then opens to an eclectic gift shop in the back.

Delicious sandwich, takes awhile but worth it. Very authentic Cuban, huge and shareable, but I didn't want to!

We had the panini sandwiches...and they were outstanding, more food than we could possibly eat...and we are big eaters.

One of my must-visits in the area. Every sandwich on the menu is excellent. (I've eaten them all.) The Cubano is always a great choice, but my go-to is the Medianoche. Make sure you visit and ATM first, as they are cash only.

Sandwich was decent . Stay away from cookies as they don’t have any dates on them and taste old . No trash can for customers!! Really ? That’s ridiculous . Response from owners feedback : There is no reason why you can’t have a trash can outside for your customers .Have a recycling and trash can outside if you don’t want to put in the extra work. If you do make the cookies daily , you are making too many . Your not turning them quick enough and they are sitting on the shelf for days . Putting a date on them may cost you to throw some cookies away but will improve the customer experience.

Read about this unique restaurant. Went for their "Cuban Sandwiches" Wow, there was a good selection and the size of the sandwich was more than we could eat. at lunch. Had the remaining sandwich the next day. The "Cubans and Panini's" were super tastay and cooked to perfection. Do not hesitate to try this great little take out restaurant. They have picnic tables outside for your use if the weather is okay. Dan from NJ

The Siesta Key is amazing and so are the pickles

I was really looking forward to getting a few sandwiches from here after seeing pictures and reviews. We headed up during Feb school vacation week and I had my two kids with me. There is a sign on the door that says “no kids.” So I asked the workers inside if that was true and they said yes “because we don’t want to get Covid.” RIDICULOUS!! please educate yourselves as Covid doesn’t work like that. And they tell me this without wearing any masks. Hmmm. Was I expected to leave my kids outside in the 20 degree temps? What if I was a teacher or a nurse? Am I not allowed to come in. Thanks but no thanks…will take my business elsewhere.

Get the Cuban. It is better than anything in Miami. The owner is very nice and loves her customers. It shows in her product. Quality food you'll love.

Unorganized, slow service and mediocre food. And no place for trash. You have to take your own trash away. The people were very nice.

Some of the best sandwiches I had in months, fresh and tasty! There’s some outdoor tables you can sit at and they seem to give you a little candy with your order. It is cash only and you have to take your trash out with you.

Great side road sandwich shop, unique flavors to the area. The outside tables with umbrellas were great especially when the sun was out and bright... The food was really flavourful, found new spot to grab lunch after a morning trek.....

We’ve been satisfied customers of the Island Chef for several years. The food is always fresh and consistently delicious. The disappointment comes when they’re not open when there website says they’re open - and their “open” flag is flying. We couldn’t reach them by phone, so we assumed they were too busy to answer the phone. Desperate for one of their Cubans we arrived 30 minutes before they were suppose to close only to find the “open” flag flying, but their door closed to business. Not sure we’ll drive the 30 minutes round trip if they don’t answer the phone next time.

As a Floridian who is always trying to satisfy a craving, they make my favorite Cuban sandwich in the North Country!

Our food was really good. It came out pretty quick.they gave us lolipops with our order! The costumer service was great. They don't have trash cans outside so you have to leave with your trash. They have please observe 6ft social distancing but have thier cafe tables and chairs touching each other in a strait line right next to it 😆

I was initially discouraged by the cash-only policy and by the enormous sinkhole I drove through in the driveway but WOW, what a Cuban sandwich! The ingredients were all very good, but the delicious sauce and crunchy bread were what put the sandwich over the top. Possibly the best sandwich bread I’ve had. And the woman there was very pleasant. I’m excited to go back!

Whenever we visit the North Conway / Glen area I have to stop in to get a Cuban sandwich. There are made fresh and are always perfect, they even put a small candy on the outside of the wrapper as a treat after enjoying the sandwich. There is a wide variety of chips and drinks available. At this time it is take out only.

I have lived here in the valley most of my life, and only recently did I try The Island Chef. Man have I been missing out. Fantastic, filling sandwiches made with high-quality ingredients and expertly prepared. The chef clearly knows her business well. Give 'em a shot, you won't be disappointed!

Friendly service, delicious homemade food!

I was here this past weekend with a group. When I called a week earlier confirm their hours, Caryn advised me that I should order a few days in advance so we could be assured of getting our orders without much of a wait. We did so, and when we arrived the cold sandwiches were wrapped and ready, and she put the hot sandwiches onto the press. The tomato basil soup was excellent and all the sandwiches were yummy with fresh ingredients. Chips and cookies rounded out the lunch. Caryn and her aunt made our group visit smooth and easy. Don't miss this place!

Food, awesome. The only issue I have is the sign says really big cookie and the cookie is anything but really big. I will visit again and worth the stop

Went for a quick lunch. Ordered the dolphin panini. It was really good, made to order with ham, turkey, sweet onion, and cheese. We split it between two people with chips and it was plenty for us.

This is just a little stand in the middle of no where, but the food is excellent. We had the Cuban and Italian sandwich as well as a Roastbeef wrap and they were all excellent. It’s mostly takeout, but there is a seating area outside where you can eat your Sandwich which is what we did. On short, we will be back.

Food was real good but two of the packaged goods I bought were expired by months. Checked the packaged and canned goods.

The reviews are right on target. Top notch sandwiches, quaint and cozy place and Caryn is so cheerful and friendly. She has great taste in music too! I always feel so welcome when I stop in. Looking forward to my next visit in a couple weeks.

Now I have tried a lot of Cubans prior, but MAN can they make a really good Cuban sandwich and a REAL Cuban sandwich. All the ingredients are fresh and everything tasted so good. I tried their smoked pepperoni too and that was great (coming from an Italian). I would highly recommend this place not only for their Cuban but they have a great menu to choose from for tasty sandwiches as well! They also had a bagillion flavors of chips to choose from for a side. The owner and cook are very sweet ladies and can make one hell of a great sandwich!
