A cute little specialty shop in downtown Crystal Lake. Great variety of olive oil, balsamic vinegar and dips. A little pricey, but well worth it. Staff is friendly and helpful amd will give you a sample before you purchase.

I love having a local olive oil / vinegar store! buying from a supermarket is such a gamble. Marketing and descriptions never accurately describe the product. At the Olive Tap, not only do you get to actually taste any oil/vinegar but you get an expert explanation of the product and process. They help you drill down on the exact taste you are looking for. They have such knowledge of their products it makes the shopping experience fun! Never buy a bad oil or vinegar again, you must shop here!

The shop is wonderful, the woman working was incredibly helpful. It was so much fun to go in and taste all of their different oils and vinegars. The woman who ran the shop even blended oils and vinegars together for us to try and help us decide what to get. I came home and immediately cooked with my products. My meal was delightful, I cannot rave more about this little shop.

Our company used The Olive Tap in Crystal Lake to provide custom-labeled gifts for one of our large commercial accounts. Our client was extremely particular. Kristy, (owner) worked so hard through lots of revisions to make sure we were all happy. If you haven't checked out the store, please do...They sell so much more than oils. The hardest thing is choosing what to buy there, because I want to try EVERYTHING! Thank you Kristy!

Store was clean and the sales clerk was very friendly and helpful. It looked like their inventory was low. They were out of a couple things I wanted.

So I can say is wow. What a great little place. Deb was working, she had me try a few of the olive oil choices and then some of the balsamic flavors. I bought 4 bottles 2 for my mother in law, that was the reason I was there and 2 for us. Absolutely amazing. I had to leave before I spent all my money. You have to go here.

Great little store in downtown Crystal Lake where you can sample Olive oils and Balsamic vinegars. There are so many different flavors and possibilities. They also have wine, cheeses, soaps and many gourmet items. If you are in the area, check it out!

I LOVE this store! Will never buy my olive oil or balsamic vinegar anywhere else. Was just there today to restock on my Lambrusco red wine vinegar. It is amazing and you will never be able to use any other red wine vinegar once you try it!!! Well worth the price. I’m hooked 😍 Oh, and the new owners and the whole staff are the best 👍👍

I have visited the shop on multiple occasions over the last couple months and love that the new owners know their product! I love getting cooking tips, learning which oils and vinegars are the best for certain meats or recipes, and I love that the products continuously update - always something new to try! Can't go wrong with the Tuscan Herb!

We love the Olive Tap. It has a wonderful selection of seasoned olive oils and balsamic vinegars in many different flavors. I have tried several and always found them fresh and deliciously entertaining. We give the olive oils to our office workmates as Christmas gifts which they always enjoy. The store also has expandrd into quality sausages, soup mixes and related items. Perfect for gifts or personal enjoyment.

We enjoyed shopping the Olive Tap under the old ownership and now we love what the new owners have done. Cool shop for unique gifts as well.

I tried the Olive Tap for the first time this week and loved it! There is a huge variety of infused olive oils, and they provide little sample cups to taste test before you buy. I'll agree that the staff did hover over us as we explored, but it ended up being beneficial, because she was able to provide us advice on pairings. If you try the Olive Tap, be sure to ask for a rewards card. They'll keep it at their location, so there is no need to worry about losing it.

Wow, what variety. Owners are very knowledgeable and helpful. If you are not quite sure how to use these products they share useful suggestions. Customers are welcomed to sample and consider before buying. I enjoyed my second time visiting and purchasing.

I went in recently (Jan 2017) when I was floating around downtown. First, the place is clean, bright, and smells great! Second, I was greeted by the nicest guy! I sampled many of the oils and vinegars. I liked them all! I am so happy to find a place that inspires me to be in the kitchen. I can't wait to go in again! I'm sure there will be something new each time!

Its great to have this store in Crystal Lake. One of many in the down town area. Thay have a large selection of olive oils to choose from. Along with other goodies to buy!

I've become an unabashed cooking snob and one thing I like is quality. This place has it along with an owner who cares. Admittedly, buying oil here is an indulgence but if you like to break from the norm, stop in. Stop buying your EVOO at Sam's and find out what real oil tastes like. Are there better varieties out there? Sure, but what this store offers are the flavor-infused versions that taste great on everything from salads to rice. And you can ditch the guessing game and try them. It's hit or miss on the flavors, but it's a personal thing. I prefer the Tuscan and an orange-infused flavor I don't see on their web site. Check them out. Besides being indulgent, it's a good place for buying that out of the ordinary gift.
