First time visitor but will certainly be back.

First time customer and it was great! I moved here recently from Texas and was leary about any BBQ that could equal anything in Texas...but it did. The Reuben was great according to my daughter. I got the 2 meat platter, pulled pork and turkey (they were out of brisket by 2) and both were tender and flavorful. The cheesy tots were a nice side. 5 stars for food! But 4 stars for service because they were out of the corn muffins that the menu says are included in the meal and there was no discount offered from the full price. Even a dollar would have felt better. I hope they read this and consider. All in all, the food rivals Texas BBQ and portions were nice

Only quirks are. It's take out only and open 2 days a week. Other than that.......... phenomenal!

The bark crust on the brisket was very flavorful and good. The brisket is nice and fatty to the point where the juices seeped out into the plastic bag. The pulled pork paired with the spicy barbecue sauce was good (I just mixed the two and put it into a bread roll that I had) the corn bread is very soft and not too sweet. Mac and cheese was cheesy. Not the ooey gooey sauce cheesy but still cheesy. The coleslaw was decent. The plate is packed, literally had enough for two meals. I tried to finish it in one sitting but I got so full.

Matt and team are just great to work with! The communication is great! I always am a confident host when I know Pit Stop is catering my event. The food is the best BBQ! I have used them for multiple events and always have more than enough food. Love supporting a local family business! Best BBQ this side of town, angry tots get the angry tots if they have them. ( I always get the pulled pork and throw it on a burger bun and enjoy)

10 outta 10 all day, baby Moist corn bread muffin actually moist not dry like Arizona. Amazing macaroni that even when reheated doesn’t lose the ooooey cheesiness Baked beans flavor is amazing Brisket, chicken and sausage is what I got. It was my first time there after following them for 2-3 years on Facebook. Gonna go back this week to try some more things. 3 meats & two sides for $26 thats an amazing deal. I got two meals out of it 😁 The owner Matt was super cool, and I see why they have the following and reputation that they do!

Always a great experience with the crew at Pit Stop, and the BBQ is even better. The specials are always a delight and you can't go wrong with anything on the menu. They set a high bar for BBQ in Grand Rapids.

We have used Matt and his team for our last 2 school auctions. He is amazing to work with, easy to get a hold of and presents the best of the best in smoked meats and sides for a more than responsible cost. Would HIGHLY recommend to everyone!

We had Pit Stop cater our wedding and it was the easiest decision we made in the wedding planning process. The food was incredible!!! Matt serviced at the wedding and he did an amazing job. All the guests were so impressed with the food and are still talking about it almost two months later. Thank you for everything!!

I honestly did not want to post this picture because it is my left overs but hats off to this place for providing me two meals. The Mac and cheese and the spicy tots (might be called “angry tots”) came in mounds! The pulled pork also came in abundance. Believe it or not, I ate half of the pork. I am a first timer ringing the gong, but I highly recommend catching lunch here! Happy eating!

My coworker and I wait till Thursay or Friday each week and look at each other and say "Pit Stop?" This place is a MUST

We recently used Pit Stop to cater a dinner for a hockey team. The gods was terrific, portions were quite generous. The service was even better with the team staying late so we could pick up the food after closing, along with loaning us a storage box to transport and keep things warm. Just an excellent overall experience, if we play in the area again will come back to Pit Stop.

Carter to steel case it was yesterday it was terrible don't know what happened say chicken got burned so put sausage in place nasty everyone pay 20 dollars for a plate they didn't ask for they put what they wanted I'm a worker at steel case we didn't get to choose food was not good

For Michigan, pretty great bbq. It's wonderfully affordable, there are lots of options, and the service is very good. Only thing I would mention is that a good portion of the food does have at least a little bit of a kick. So, fair warning to those who are particularly sensitive to that. However, the flavor is excellent. By far one of my favorite things were the corn cakes. I'm a sucker for good, sweet cornbread, and these did not disappoint in the slightest.

We ordered take out and had a great dinner………..we ordered beef brisket and pulled pork…great sauce! We already had salad , beans, fresh corn at home. Was outstanding and we would order more meat and sides in future. Maureen

Matt catered our wedding 8/27 providing our guest with delicious Brisket, Smoked chicken, macaroni, and cheesy potatoes! The food would absolutely immaculate, steaming hot, presentation beautiful as well! Matt also such a great help to us throughout the entirety of the event. This guy even took time out to get elderly guest beverages, which was not something he was there for. He ensured me and my bride was taken care of and well fed throughout dinner. We can not be more happy that we were able to have pit stop cater our event! They absolutely killed it, I would give them 10/5 stars if I could! Thank you Matt for the great food and service! The Pit Stop catered our son's high school graduation open house and it was a big hit for all of our guests. We ordered brisket, pulled pork, baked beans, cheesy tots, and cole slaw. Hayden arrived on time and took great care setting up the food and explaining a few details to us. When our older children graduated, we prepared the food ourselves, but it was so much more relaxing to have it all taken care of for us (including silverware, napkins, plates). It let me focus on my son and our guests instead of having to deal with food preparation. Thanks for the great food and service!

A friend raved about it and I thought I would try it. I would go back if suggested, but try something different. I like a more grandiose smoke on the rib but it was okay. I thought food in general was not seasoned well and bland. The sauce I asked for was spicy mi e was not so they may have given me the wrong sauce. I had baked beans, Mac and cheese and Cole slaw, all of which I had to come home and add some flavor

Food is always great! The pulled pork and brisket wraps are delicious. The sides are delicious as well. Staff and owners are always friendly.

This is my second visit and could say for sure I’m hooked. Loyal customer. I recommend the…just get it all! No regrets.

I really want to like this place but after giving them a 2nd chance the experience is the same as the previous. The previous time was in 2019. The last one was a week ago. Basically, everything was bland and lacked the smoky flavor. I ordered some brisket, pork and chicken. If not for the sauces the meats were tasteless. Also, the chicken was dry. I used to smoke meats until my smoker conked out. I like my smoked meats better.

Walked in the door just as the chorus to "Heaven is a place on earth" started playing (not sure if this actually happened, but it's how I'm choosing to remember this experience and I have no interest in being corrected). Brisket was tender, smoky, and plentiful. Green beans and coleslaw were crisp, fresh and perfectly flavored. I'm thrilled to have finally found a BBQ joint in West MI on the same level of the places I frequented during my years spent in North FL!

I'm ranting the stars full even for atmosphere. I don't think it's fair to knock a takeout joint for atmosphere. There is a metal pig and a picnic table. Good enough for me. Food is amazing. It sells out fast. The staff and owner have no interest in answering the phone, taking reservations, etc. Go early. Eat amazing food. Take it somewhere else or hope to score that picnic table. This is how you know the food is good.

EVERYTHING they make is delicious! If you ever pull up and see a line, there's a reason for that...but don't let the line stop you, it moves pretty quickly.

I’m going to be honest, I was a little hesitant to eat at a BBQ place in Michigan but this is honestly the best BBQ place ever! I have traveled all over and I honestly would say this place is one of the best. Great food and wonderful customer service.

It may seem expensive, but a meal from them will feed you at least twice. Great food, great service, great personalities.

I have had brisket, pulled pork, and corned beef from here to Texas and this by far the best I have had, hands down.

Tons of good food!! BBQ sauce was a bit of a mix. Seemed like a combo of KC and NC 🤔 but was tasty!

Smoked turkey is the bomb! I enjoyed the green beans, cole slaw and mac'n cheese too! But you better go early because they only serve turkey on Fridays and they DO run out!!!

Brisket was dry, flavor was ok..i had to choke it down..portions are fantastic..and the beans and mac and cheese go well together. Separately they are ok..the mac and cheese is under seasoned and the beans over seasoned so they balance out when being put together.. Corncake was fantastic!

Pork and mac and cheese were good the coleslaw was dismal. A sign for the business would have been nice.

My husband and I had the privilege of being invited to a Wonderful evening of shopping, dinner, and drinks by the lovely, proprietors of Laurel and Jack in Ada last evening. While there we were blessed with the BEST tasting chicken we've ever had! We live in Holland and can't wait to come back to The Pit in Grand Rapids! We've, already, decided when our next opportunity for catering presents itself we will be calling on "The Pit" if they will come to Holland, OR, we will certainly pick it up! Seriously, if you haven't checked this food out, do yourself a favor go try for yourselves! Kudos to these two businesses that know what they are doing! Firstly, I love good BBQ and we have been driving past here for years trying to catch them open. We'll today we finally had a chance. From the reviews and from them having competition pedigree, we were expecting that great bbq. We got a slab of ribs chicken, coleslaw, baked beans and corn bread. What a let down. The best part of the meal was the cornbread and it went down hill from there. The ribs were just OK and the chicken was dry and overcooked. The coleslaw was tasteless and a few days old but the baked beans were a pleasant surprise. I have been to many rib competitions and was expecting more but unfortunately was met with just ok bbq. Maybe we caught them on an off day?

Seriously best in town. Hardest part of your trip there will be deciding what to order. Known for their brisket, but don't sleep on what ever is the special that day. Come hungry.

First time visiting and I can assure you the food will not disappoint! As a Mac n’ cheese lover, best I have ever had! The servings are enormous! I had picked up enough to feed my family of 5, which to my surprise could of been more like 10. Kitchen looked clean (even for a late in the day visit) and staff was very kind. It appeared to be a family, teen boys at the front who were doing an awesome job!! If you are craving a good ol pig roast, check it out!

Fantastic food, service, and portions. Great value! Had Matt and team cater a birthday party for 55 adults. He was very easy to work with, didn't need a final head count until a week prior. We picked it up for a lake party. They provided everything we needed to serve the food and keep it warm and fresh. Everyone loved the food. Brisket, pulled pork, beans, cheesy tator tots and mac-n-cheese. The sauces provided were tasty, especially the spicy one. The portions were VERY generous, lots of great leftovers. Absolutely got our money's worth. Would definitely do this again.

About the best pulled pork and brisket you’ll find in a northern state! They give you really large portion sizes and are pretty efficient and moving the line along. Just remember they are only open on Thursday and Friday. If it is Thursday or Friday and I’m in the area, this is the first place I’ll go to!

Amazing BBQ! Everything was delicious and the service was fast and friendly. It was a last minute stop and I didn’t even realize this was there but I’m glad I stopped.

I love this place. People who work here are always friendly. I get the pulled pork all the time and its great. Honestly I haven't had anything on the menu that wasn't good.

We had The Pit Stop cater our wedding in early May of 2021 and it was fantastic. I cannot say enough good things about this place. The food was delicious, was served on time, Matt was super professional and friendly, and there was plenty of food to go around. Everyone loved the food and was begging for leftovers. Any events we look to have catered moving forward they will be at the top of the list.

Awesome. I love the brisket, the corned beef, the smoked turkey and chicken. The sausage has become one of my favorites. Probably one of the last I tried. Everyone try the sausage. Tender sausage. Has anyone ever had Tender sausage? Let me know.

Place is the best in town. I’ve been around the US and everywhere I go, I get bbq.This place has the best Pulled Pork & Corn Cakes out of any place I’ve been too and it’s right here in my hometown. The Specials every week are what sets this place apart as well, there is nothing like it. I have now tried all the wraps and they are all insane, personal preference is Brisket. I have recommended this place to people on a number of occasions and am surprised there is not another location in GR yet. You guys are top notch! My only recommendation would be to try and make something with Chipotle Mayo/Ranch. When I am Smoking at home I make brisket subs with cheese, pickles, lettuce, onion and chipotle mayo. I believe something like this would be a top seller.

So good! I was seriously surprised we stopped here randomly cause we were in the area, and best decision ever!

Today i purchased a couple 3 meat combos and a green menace sub sandwich (green chili pulled pork sandwich). The sausages in mustard sauce were very tender and easily one of my favorites; probably because I like mustard sauces. Both the corn beef brisket and corn beef burnt ends were excellent, moist and flavorful. I recommend getting some, which requires a Thursday visit. The beef brisket and smoked chicken legs had good flavor, but were a bit dry this time and the sauce helped. The baked beans are sweet with bits of meat. However, they a little too sweet for me. The corn bread was sweet and moist. The cheesy tots and macaroni-n-cheese were both good too, but the angry tots were the winner in the carb-sides. The angry tots are a spicy version of the cheesy tater tots and they had a nice spicy kick to them. Get ‘em if you enjoy spicy. I practice the art of smoking meat myself and understand the challenges; especially smoking outside in the Winter. The Pit Stop has great BBQ and a good selection of sides and sandwiches. It’s important to check their Facebook page to see what will be available on the Thursday or Friday that they’re open for business. And note that not everything is offered on both days. Finally, plan to get in line early because they do run out of the popular selections. I recommend a visit if you’re into good BBQ.

Woah! Delicious smoked meats like no other!! Highly recommend. They are only open a couple days of the week but if you can make it there while they are open you will not be disappointed!

The tequila lime tri tip is delicious! All of there side dishes are great its hard to decide on just 2 when you get the platter. Staff is always friendly and helpful.

REAL Texas BBQ in Grand Rapids??? Yes. Really. Unbelievable food, great people. Downsides? Only open two days a week and there's always a line. But believe me, it's worth it.

Pit stop catered our rehearsal dinner. It was a hit! Everyone asked where we got it cause it was "the best brisket they have ever had". Mac n cheese is amazing! All of the meats are great! Definitely recommend The Pit Stop for events! Very price friendly for all of the food you get! Thanks Matt!

The Pit Stop has the best BBQ I have ever tasted!! Today I chose pulled pork, macaroni and cheese, green beans, and the ooey gooey dessert bar. Everything was outstanding and I have LOTS of leftovers. If you haven't tried The Pit Stop, you need to do so and if you have gone there before, check it out again as they have tasty new additions to their menu. Absolutely delicious!!

I went there for lunch and had the two meat platter, brisket and pulled pork. The meat was very good and the called beans were ok but not happy with the Mac and cheese at all, not sure what spices these use but it was way too spicy for this Dutch boy. Also looked at the menu online before we got there and the prices on the web site didn't match the actual prices by a couple dollars each item

At Lakeside speedway lat Friday night we didn't do well at racing. But damn did Ihave a great brisket sandwich and fries. If you ever find yourself near this food truck go ahead and get some bbq.

Awesome food!!! I love the brisket, mac and cheese and all sides are great. Definitely the best BBQ food in west Michigan. Don't let the long line deter you on the busy days, the line goes pretty fast and it's worth it.

Amazing food and people here. We had the brisket sammies today. To be honest, Pit Stop showed up on my FB feed this morning and I couldn't stop thinking about the brisket sammie all morning. Wow. Just wow. Devoured quickly and deep down inside I wish I had ordered an extra few for later.

The food at this establishment never fails to exceed my expectations. Everything I have tried here has been superb. It is open on Thursdays and Fridays, go early if you want to have the full menu available because the food is so great they can sell out.The portion size is ridiculously huge. If you go during the warmer months there are nice picnic tables, in the winter you will need to grab something to go. However you will be happier eating this food in your car than you would be in most dining rooms in town. Try it, you will not be disappointed.

I've been coming here for years. Food never disappoints. The line is out the door usually but they move fast! You gotta get there early for the specials!

So, this is literally a hole in the wall place. Almost all takeout all year, especially in the cold weather, as they have 3 tables, all outside. They do a LOT of catering. And you really have to want to go, because they are only open Thursday and Friday, 11:30-6:30. But you go because they have the best brisket and pork BBQ in the area. The portions are very large. The sides are not as large, relatively speaking, but they are good. I personally like the pork better, but both are good. Wish they had pulled chicken. Did not try the sausage, but it is probably good. The prices are commensurate with the quantities. Service is what it is. And those little dessert brownies are excellent.

Glad I stopped by Pit Stop today. More food than I could eat in one sitting. Brisket had a great smoke ring, tender and flavorful. This is the $12 platter and there is enough for two meals. You can tell the BBQ sauce, beans and mac & cheese are all homemade. Cant wait to go back

Old job used these guys for catering, new job we go there for lunch. You get your money's worth and it's top shelf comfort food.

I can't get enough of this place. I stop here a lot on Fridays for lunch and there is always a line. ALL of the BBQ meat is great I couldn't pick a favorite. Great slow-smoked flavor. The sides are also great, I've tried almost all of them. I normally don't get dessert, but the brownie today awesome. I was going to give 4 stars just because they are not always open, but the food actually deserves 10+ stars so I couldn't do it.

Delicious BBQ, although a bit expensive. Be sure to try their Mac n cheese - it's some of the best in the area!

Great choices, great price, enthusiastic staff, amazing food, selection of sauces but with the juices in the meat you don't need them (but if you try to them the spicy is an impressive sizzle in your mouth without being too hot). This is what BBQ is about! Don't forget the Mac and Cheese, potatoes, beans, cornbread. LIKE ARNOLD SAID - "I'LL BE BACK"

As a frequent diner at Texas BBQ establishments, I'm always leery of eating brisket and pulled pork anywhere north of the Mason-Dixon Line. It's usually a less-than-satisfying experience. Not here, though. Both the brisket and the pork were tasty and the portion sizes were... um... Texas-sized. I couldn't eat all of the two-item plate though I gave it a good attempt. The cole slaw was adequate, though nothing special, but the baked beans were some of the best I've had anywhere. I'd go back just for another serving of those.

First visit so I am being a little open minded. I ordered the brisket platter. Portion size is not a problem at all, kudos to you! The sides, I had the beans Delish!! The cheesy tots Very good!!. The brisket....tasted more like dried out roast. They chunk instead of slice which might be part of the problem and/or how long it was cooked or sat before I was given my serving. It had a very nice bark but was way too dry for good brisket. I will try here again as I have heard great things about this place but for my first visit they are barely getting 3 stars.
