The Tea Cart in Berryville - Phone Number, Reservations, Reviews

EDIT TO ADD: management sent an email trying to make it right , a couple emails were passed back and forth and then we never heard back from them. So I'd say customer service fell short as well. First I am going to start with the berryville location review, which is where we went for the bridgerton tea event today and what is driving this negative review, from the moment we walked in the hospitality was incredibly lacking. The greeter who ended up also being our waitress, didn't even seat us just told us we were in the corner and walked away. She checked on us a total of one time, outside of dropping off our courses (which she dropped off and walked away without asking if we needed anything). Our courses and tea came way later than they should've, for example the table next to us got there and seated after us and finished their courses after us but were continously checked on and got their courses and tea before us.The food was not up to par and was much more enjoyable the previous time that we went at the winchester location. We didn't get our third tea that we were supposed to get with out bridgerton event reservation and when we brought it up to our waitress she shrugged it off and told us that they were running behind with tea but didn't offer to get us our 3rd tea or an apology. She just didn't care. Gratuity was automatically added to our bill, which is fine if the waitress or waiter shows the level of service that equals what they take automatically. At the cost of $70 per person, we expected so much more. I would not recommend any of their special events at this location and we will not be visiting this tea house location again. I'm going to end with saying our experience at the winchester location was amazing, when we went back in January. The service , food, and atmosphere was amazing at the winchester location. They even accommodated our absolute ridiculous last minute request of a dozen cucumber sandwiches and 4 of the earl gray cookies.

We enjoyed the food and our server was (as always) incredible. But I have to say, our recent experience became unpleasant when one of the owners forced my wife to sign a waiver to eat there because she has a food allergy. This has never happened during previous visits, but it did yesterday. Her particular allergy is one listed on their website as one they are able to easily accommodate. Not only was she forced to sign a waiver, but the owner practically hovered over her to sign it and kept checking back, interrupting our meal, until it was signed. It was NOT discrete and frankly somewhat humiliating for her to be treated as such in front of friends and family. People with food allergies deserve respect and to be treated with dignity. On top of the embarrassment, it is insulting that the owner didn't bring out the waiver until we were halfway through our meal. As much as we have enjoyed our previous experiences, unfortunately, after this, I don't think we will be returning any time soon. UPDATE: In response to your reply, yes, it was the owner. We were told by our server it was "the owner who is rarely in" after apologizing for her behavior. And we recognized the photo of the owner from your website.

Lovely little place with a great atmosphere. Having been to many tea rooms across the country, there are a few things that stood out to me: 1) the service starts with scones with jam and cream. However, it is not clotted cream but whipped cream. For a service that is at least $40, clotted cream seems an integral part. It's even available in jars in supermarkets. Every other place I've been offers multiple scones and refills on cream and jam for the table. None were offered here. 2) the lunch option we chose came with multiple small sandwiches, some of which were wonderful and some just okay. For example, the cucumber and cream cheese could benefit from some dill. Mustard on the ham and rye. That kind of thing. Again, the portions are small compared to other tea rooms. 3) the desserts are probably the best part of the whole meal. We ordered more lavender blackberry cookies to go. 4) the tea selection is varied and exotic! So appreciated. However, you get one pot per person. We weren't offered an option to get a refill or order another pot. 5) this is picky...but some of the staff were in the back and talking loudly about missed reservations, etc. It dampens the atmosphere, which is supposed to be an elegant tea room away from all those concerns. This is a nice place that should do a bit better at making you feel like you're getting your money's worth. The bill was over $100 for 2 people, and those little things make all the difference!

The owner was unpleasant to our wedding party and was rude to her staff in front of us. I felt sorry for our waitress.

Had the 3 course Royal Ascot and the food was great. The service is attentive. They were able to accommodate dietary restrictions so everyone could enjoy the experience. The tea selection is large, and all were delicious. Also enjoyed a raspberry cream mimosa. Recommend it all!

What a delightful time my friend and I had at The Tea Cart in Berryville VA today!! It is so beautifully decorated with lovely plates, tea pots, etc. We were served by Hannah who did a smashing job of attending to us and explaining about the tea room as well as the one in Winchester. She was fantastic. The food was delicious and beautiful. Every item is a hit! The pastries, cookies and the desserts were beautifully decorated and tasted heavenly. Jen and her crew in the kitchen do a fabulous job!! We were very, very impressed with this place and can’t wait to attend one of their occasional “themed teas”. I came here with my mom last year for Mother's Day, and we loved it so much we've made it a regular occurrence! The food, service, and atmosphere are all so amazing. We will be coming back as long as we live in the area!

Excellent food— the tea selection is amazing and their food was delicious, the scones were the height of the event! The server was extremely friendly, professional, and anticipated our group’s needs very well. I was so excited to try out this place! A heads up, you are required to provide a hold fee with your card and it’s $25 per person and it goes towards your bill. It’s $55 per person and 20% automatic gratuity is applied as well. I don’t agree that an automatic 20% should have been applied. Our server was OK. I’m pregnant and can’t have teas. Whoever I spoke over the phone with let me know that I could have juice and other options if needed. Our server only offered me with Virgin cocktails when I inquired about juice, so I only ended up with water. I don’t know if our server was new or had an interesting way of doing things. We had to ask for water since she wouldn’t come by to replenish. When we asked for water, instead of getting the pitcher of water. She took our cups and came back with them with water in it??. We didn’t know if we got our original glasses back or what. So odd and off putting. It’s stuff like that, I wouldn’t have tipped 20% for. Cucumber sandwiches didn’t pair well with mint. Maybe something like pimento cheese would have been better, just a suggestion! Other than that, it was fine, atmosphere was as cute, service from our server was Mediocre, and price for everything was a little pricey, so be aware of that. Even with the hold fee going towards your bill, you’re still looking at paying just over $200 for 2 people. Glad I did it and now know what to expect.

We had a very dissatisfying experience at the spring brunch last Saturday The sandwich bread was stale, they were out of chicken salad,and they only offered three types of teas Nobody liked the teas. It was like they were getting rid of the most unpopular ones I have been here before and it has always been excellent I was embarrassed that I invited guests to such a bad experience

My wife, sister, and I went to the spring brunch today and were not prepared at all for the hole that was about to be burned in our pockets. $55/person for a few biscuits, finger sandwiches , croissants. and small desserts. 1 each per person. The atmosphere was cute but the price for the type and amount of food you get is not worth it. We only had 3 people at our table and they charged an automatic 20% gratuity for average service which is like $37. Almost $240 for brunch/lunch seems to be absurd. This place is the definition of price gouging. My recommendation would be to remove the automatic 20% tip and make your servers earn their extra money, cause if they know they are going to make 20% anyways, especially with large parties, they aren’t going to try as much.

Wonderful place to have tea, all the food we had was delicious; if you forget your hat, you may choose one to borrow-how fun is that! Our servers were especially nice! I will go back! 😊🫖

We had been to the other location and had a wonderful time. We decided to go to Berryville to celebrate our granddaughter's nineteenth birthday. The experience was outstanding. The room is nicely appointed and the server friendly and attentive. Best of all was the Royal Ascot tea. From scones to dessert everything was delicious. It is not an inexpensive outing but well worth it.

LOVE LOVE LOVE the tea cart!! Their themed teas are excellent! My daughter and I calendar these few times and make sure to be there!! Their gluten free options are AMAZING and DELICIOUS can not recommend this enough!! Gluten free options are available and no less delicious than the regular food!

If you're looking for a lovely tea shop, you should definitely stop by The Tea Cart! My friends and I went in for a themed tea and everything was lovely! ( The theme was the Queen of Hearts) They were very understanding of dietary restrictions and went above and beyond to accommodate them!

Had my third visit this past week. The tea and food were amazing. However, we had to wait an hour and 5 minutes before being served lunch. I would go again as I love the ambiance and delicacies. Having said that, they could really use an upgrade to the front door entrance flower boxes!

Greatest high tea experience ( around Christmas too!). And affordable too - gas we gone into DC it would have been twice or 3 times more . It was $100 for 2. Everything was yummy and special.

Had a wonderful afternoon here. From the moment you walk in the atmosphere is cozy and inviting and just formal enough for you to have the “high tea” experience. (Don’t worry, there is quite a selection of hats to choose from, in case you forget yours.) The potato soup was delicious and the sandwiches and desserts were quite filling. The selection of teas was nice and we casually sipped the peach ginger option. This is a lovely place to hold a little girls birthday party or to enjoy a quiet setting while you catch up with a friend.

The Tea Cart is absolutely spectacular. The setting is appropriately formal and special feeling for notable occasions. This is one of the best afternoon tea experiences I've ever had, and I've had afternoon tea in the UK, at the Ritz hotel in New York, and many other locations as well. Each dish is carefully considered and prepared mindfully with delicious, fresh ingredients. The tea menu has ample variety, and the servers were all helpful, accommodating, and encouraging of trying many different types of tea. This particular occasion was to celebrate Mother's Day early and my mother absolutely adored the experience. I've attended their themed teas as well and they are fabulous and fun. We look forward to returning! There's usually plenty of street parking out front.

My new favorite place! I'm a huge tea party fan and I kept wanting to visit The Tea Cart until I finally did! Everything from start to finish was absolutely perfect. I chose the three course option, and items arrived freshly made, on a timely manner, and so well presented. The decor was just adorable and the staff was very friendly and attentive, checking on our table constantly. There's hats available to borrow and options include unlimited tea. They have a very large tea menu with options for just about everyone. The menu offers bites and sweets that are fresh and made with seasonal ingredients. I highly recommend to try it at least once, though you'll also end up loving it!

Staff from the tea cart (who's name I cannot remember, not because of their lack of work, but because my brain is exhausted from the long day), came to my home and hosted a high tea at noon for my 40th birthday party. Very cute little eclectic tea place that I took my mom and sisters to as my mom's Christmas present. Luckily, they have a really nice cancellation policy (cancel any time) because we had to reschedule due to covid. The pink and heart-themed foods for February were cute and yummy. We added blood orange mimosas for fun as well. There was a nice array of loose tea flavors. My favorites were all of the roobois, especially chocolate almond. We attended the regular afternoon tea and definitely want to try one of their special events.
