Great experience all around! Enjoyable lunch and service!

Hands down the best fish-n-chips I've ever had in my life, and I've had a lot of fish-n-chips. My wife had the bbq burger which was also great! This casual and comfortable place is a hidden gem that deserves a stop. If you can't deal with the full restaurants in Rockland, try this out!

Arrived well before the 2 PM closing time; there was one occupied table and eventually someone came out and told us that they close at 2 - but the kitchen was already closed. What is the point of posting open hours if they don't follow them? Emptiness of the place suggests they are failing - I wonder why.

This cute little cafe in the small town of Thomaston was a perfect lunch stop rolling down the coast. The staff was amazing, and the recommended food matched.

Delicious! I had the baked stuffed haddock with a side salad and the garlic mashed potatoes. Excellent 👌(picture shown after I put dressing on; it does come on the side). Will definitely be back 😁

We’ve been to the restaurant many times and have always had a good experience. Yesterday I did some takeout and could not be more disappointed. Most notably the fries were clearly several hours old and barely warm. I only live about 3 miles from the restaurant so it was not that the food got cold on the way home. I don’t know if maybe the people in the kitchen figured that it was takeout so no one would notice and send the food back or what. This was very inconsistent with our normal experience at the place.

Came here and accidentally stayed 40 mins past closing and they were awesome about being patient.

Love this place! Something for everyone! And they have gluten-free buns for their sandwiches and burgers. Great small bar to sit at and a cozy place to eat. Very good food. Fun bartender and great service but they get full and get a little slow with serving - no provider you’re not in a hurry!

The Thomaston Cafe is a modestly sized establishment with a remarkably extensive menu and a full bar. We both chose the spinach/beet salad for our lunch, one with chicken and the other with crab cakes. The salads were generously sized, the chef certainly didn't skimp on the expensive ingredients like pecans and goat cheese. The chicken tasted home-cooked and came piping hot, the crab cakes were large and flavorful. Other patrons' meals looked similarly fresh and generously proportioned. We will surely return on our next trip to the mid-coast region of Maine.

The haddock chowder was transcendent, like no chowder I’ve ever had before. Special recipe of the cook, with thyme and lemon and loads of haddock, it was incredible! We were there for lunch and they were super busy. The small staff hustled and we didn’t wait long for a table. We would go there again next time we are in the area!

Absolutely amazing food and service! Best fish and chips we've had with the biggest, perfectly cooked piece of fish ever! So good it was being eaten before we got a picture! Only downside is they were hopping busy so it was a bit loud but still an excellent experience!

Service was very slow, our fourth guest waited 30 minutes for her order to come to the table. Only one waitress for all 12 tables and the bar. My order was undercooked fatty.... won't go there again. All of us agreed.

This is not the Cafe I knew decades ago. I was impressed by the atmosphere and the portions of the food. Highly recommended!

Had there Wednesday prime rib special. Very good, and service equally good. Thursday burger specials also very good.

Perhaps for a big city with hundreds of cafes it would be forced by competition to be a four star cafe or so. But this is a gem 💎 in the historical town or Thomaston. No chain restaurant food here. The Ceasar salad came with anchovies as ordered. The meat potatoes vegetables fish and even pickles were a local and fresh. A full bar and several beers on tap with many more in bottles. This is the real old town cafe.

Very good food and service. We've had a while variety from here and its always solid. Interior is cozy but not cramped. Pretty cool little place.

American dinning, popular cafe with good food a good service. A friend and I go regularly. We find it a casual, lively, mostly consistent experience. Value is the name of the game. Flavorful entrees, good menu choices, cooked properly. Solid and affordable. A step above some of the other local restaurants!

First time here, did takeout for lunch. Super friendly, the restaurant was really cute as well. Definitely a good value for the money and would happily eat here again. My Avocado BLT was really tasty!

Stopped for lunch on a busy June Saturday when Rt. 1 is usually packed with visitors. Thomaston is a cute village with lovely old sea captain houses lining Main Street. Lucky for us we were eating late and there were tables available. Lots of menu choices. We were looking for local seafood but didn’t want a lobster roll. Two different kinds of tasty haddock sandwiches fit the bill. Large enough portions and well prepared. Friendly service. A walking tour map of town is available to peruse while waiting. Just what we were looking for!

Fantastic spot that combines a great atmosphere, a top-notch menu, and well executed food. Had crab-topped haddock with scallops and a Philly cheese steak (which they (all of Maine?) call a "steak bomb"). Fries were hand-cut with skin on and perfectly cooked. Fish was tender and flaky. It was an A+. Highly recommended.

Very nice spot in Thomaston Maine, a stones throw from Rockland, housed in a classic old building on Route 1. I've eaten here many times over the years and never been disappointed. Soups, salads and burgers are all good, but try the haddock tacos for a true north of the border treat. Wash it down with any of a nice selection of craft beers along with the friendly service and I'll eat here every time I pass through.

What a fabulous find - My husband and I ate here twice on our trip to ME. Awesome food, wonderful service, cute little cafe, and, for us, really important - they are following ALL of the Covid19 requirements. We loved the fresh salads and fish and chips. The onion soup was delicious.

Had Sunday brunch here after church with friends, and enjoyed our meal and drinks. They have improved on the corned beef hash - homemade and very tasty. We also had Bloody Marys and our guests had glasses of chardonnay - also well received. This café has an old-timey atmosphere and is a popular haunt for locals. Our service was attentive and the value of our meals was reasonable. This is a good spot for down-home food in a friendly, comfortable village setting.

Stooped in for lunch while working in the area, I had a Turkey wrap with coleslaw on the side, my friend had a BLT with homemade fries which had a nice special seasoning on them. The food was excellent, reasonable priced, and the service was excellent.

I had dinner here a month ago with four friends. Everyone ordered something different but all were satisfied. The salad I had with beets, almonds, and oranges was one of the best salads I have ever had. Finished every leaf. I have been here before and will continue to go back. A reasonable, nearby choice for people who live or rent on the St. George peninsula.

The food and atmosphere are fabulous!

My husband and I stopped by last Saturday for lunch about 30 minutes before their closing time. The place was pretty full. Nicely appointed dining room and a bar. It was evident that they had one waitress covering the entire restaurant. Another woman was present but it appeared her role was to bus tables and produce the bills. So, it was a slow role. We got our food about 45 mins after we arrived. The waitress was very apologetic and had a great way about her. I had the halibut chowder (excellent) and a salad that was great. My husband had the Denver omelet. I’d return as long as I allowed for a little extra time.

New owners of this standby restaurant in Thomaston. And what friendly people they are. It has wlays been one of our favorites in the area so we are very happy to welcome the new owners.

My wife and I stopped in here on a whim while traveling up Route 1 one morning. We were pleasantly surprised with this place. Food was really well done and portions were quite large. Service was top notch, friendly and inviting. Food came out quickly but we didn't feel that it was rushed. I would highly recommend this restaurant and would definately return if in the area again.

Went for Thursday night burger and beer night. Wonderful! I had a very hard time choosing what to have, I don't think you can go wrong with this place. Nice atmosphere, good place for a date.

Good food, very expensive, staff no welcoming

After experiencing a quick half week in Maine it was time to head home. Our VRBO host recommended we try the Thomaston Cafe and we are glad we did. For lunch O had the fried Haddock sandwich - which was awesome. The cole slaw on the side was really delish if you like cole slaw. My wife had a blackened salmon wrap special, which she described as perfect. For desert we had a warm ramekin of strawberry rhubarb crumble. Which was a divine dish to send us on our home. Thanks Maine!

We were heading elsewhere for breakfast and happened to stop in on a whim. So glad we did. We were seated immediately by our server with a great smile. It wasn't overcrowded and we had an excellent breakfast. The crab benedict was excellent. We have one more day in Maine and just discovered they are open for dinner as well, so we plan on returning for dinner since the reviews are so good.
