Great breakfast food, very nice and efficient service with a nice view. This is a local favorite and you can see why!

Hummus--dumped in a bowl--no olives, olive oil, sumac. Just hummus dumped in a bowl served with pita on a plate. Presentation was terrible. Taste was mediocre. Moussaka--frozen, cooked, then reheated. A very small serving served on top of a meat sauce with half a plate of undercooked vegetables. The moussaka was not edible. Chicken Parmesan--precooked spaghetti noodles, reheated with canned tomatoes. Precooked chicken with melted mozzarella dumped on top. Again, awful presentation. Carrot Cake--not made in house but decent. The upholstery in the booths is cracked and peeling. We spent over $50 for the 2 of us, and it was such a disappointment.

Very good Greek and Italian food. Service, was a bit iffy. Probably due to staffing issues. But the food more than made up for it. Tremendous portions. And very tasty.

Food and service is the best. Sometimes there is a line (Saturday mornings)

The world is changing. Please add vegetarian choices. Not everyone can eat steak and sausages.

This is not the same restaurant....I had gotten pizza from the original family for over 40 years. I purchased my pepperoni pizza today and knew instantly it was over....not even close. I would order papa John's before their's.....so sad.

Had a late lunch with the kids and grand kids. I tried the gyro with fries. Excellent. All seven of us were very pleased with the food and our waitress was a peach. If in the area, and hungry I'd definitely stop here again. Portions are very good and the prices are reasonable.

One of the best breakfast places I have ever eaten at. Everything was absolutely delicious and ☕️ coffee was splendid. Service was fast and friendly. Atmosphere was bright and clean with a touch of retro. Highly 👍 👍 recommended.

Usually you only go to a diner because you've been driving a truck all day and you just want to stuff your face with pancakes while flirting with a waitress who will pretend to care about your problems. This one you go to because the food tastes good, the atmosphere is welcoming, and the prices are reasonable. Rare find. Always enjoy going there.

I hadn't been to Tip Top in a few years. I noticed a whole new staff. (Same staff was there for years) The food was just ok. Some patron had 3 kids that were all over the dining room jumping and running and getting in empty booths clowning around. While the entire dining area was basically vacant the staff seated an older couple in the booth beside this circus of kids. My Greek salad was drowning in salad dressing. The souvlaki wasn't cooked the same as before. I did ask the checkout girl if the same owner was still running the restaurant. She said it was sold which explained everything. Surely they will stil be successful....their prices are very reasonable. Maybe it was just an off day.

Waitress got order wrong and did not correct it to anyone's satisfaction, never asked if anyone wanted more coffee, etc. Disappointing. Normally pretty darned good.

The food was AMAZING! The Greek spaghetti was filling, yummy, cheesy, and so warm. It was the perfect end to a long day. There were at least 5 different types of cheese, and it was very flavorful, and the hint of nutmeg was perfect The photo doesn't do it justice! It was worth the 1.5 drive. Excellent service and clean.

Disappointed in the service. Waitress never came back to refill coffee or tea. They weren't even busy when we were there. Walked by, dropped off check, and kept walking. I went to pay. Hostess had her back turned and was on her phone. Finally someone else came over. Hostess turned around and said 'I didn't see you." No kidding. Get off your phone you are working. Who's more important, customer or your phone?

Been here several different times have never ever been satisfied. How do you tell someone you want easy soft eggs and you get hard. Had a good experience, so sorry spent this time I will not be back

When I arrived the parking lot was almost full, about 30 cars parked. That was the first good sign. The wait staff was experienced and friendly. Whenever a waitress addresses me by "honey" it's going to be good. I got the daily special, hamburger steak, mashed potatoes and gravy and green beans. The steak had sauteed onions and gravy on top, the mashed potatoes had small amounts of peel included, the beans were cooked to southern perfection, no crunch, but not mushy, with cooked onions and bacon (real bacon) bits. It was a memorably positive meal. I was just there for a day, but I really wanted to try more of their menu.

Our server, Josie was great!! There were 10 of us and she kept their coffees filled and was always right on things. Thank you!!

Definitely stick to ordering breakfast here. My chicken parm sub was really bad. The menu mentions you are only allowed one refill on fountain drinks, but since the waitress dropped the ticket with the food you probably won't even get one.

1st time eating here. Food was okay. Server was awful!! Took our order brought it to us and NEVER checked on us again except to bring ticket to check out...no refills or come to see how things were...probably will not be going back. Staff wasn't the friendliest staff either. 😒😒😒

I could not have been more disappointed ... coming to a diner with a ton of awards and most things are not scratch. I'll start with the only things that were good and that was the pancakes and French toast because they have to cook it. The bacon looked like Oscar Mayer's cheap brand, completely flavorless. Sausage with round little patties that were about the size of a silver dollar. Terrible. My fluffy omelette had no fluff at all. It was cooked on a flat grill and folded over with perfectly cubed ham pieces that you know were brought in. And I don't even know if they put cheese on it. I asked if the corned beef hash was homemade. They said no. The potatoes I doubt were from scratch. They were probably a frozen bag. They had an orange color to them and were mushy. I've had better breakfast at Denny's.

Everything about this place is tip top! Except the men's restroom. Absolutely abysmal, toilets you would never want to sit on, full of nastiness. Otherwise great food, efficient service, accommodating place!

The breabed chicken for chicken parmesan was over cooked and tough.

I've been here a couple of times. Most recently, with a large group during a busy time, before was during a quiet period with one person. My advice is to get breakfast, which is delicious, and steer clear of the exotic, e.g. lobster. Having been here during busy times and not, I'd say busy times will result in less than stellar service, missed opportunities for refills, wrong orders, and so on. The corn cakes are heavenly, and the biscuits are divine. It's clean, quiet, fun, and popular. Very enjoyable.

me and my friends came in grown man staring at us and taking pictures we went to tell the manager we felt uncomfortable and she told us to get out and leave so we did and she started waving goodbye yelling. so unprofessional never going there again.

This is a great local restaurant. The food is excellent. The only down side is sometimes it can get loud inside with the people talking.

Mom & Pop upscale diner, very quaint. What disappointed me was the French toast. French toast was not soaked in the egg batter then was cooked at low temp. Result was white bread that barely tasted like French toast and a soggy exterior. Eggs & sausage were good. Pecan pancakes were good. Country ham was very salty. Coffee was just ok. The Tip Top is a busy restaurant with lots of locals. We were there at lunch, but there was no waiting. My husband had the tip Top Special Spaghetti. He said it was good, but he didn't taste anything special. I had the Chicken Florentine which came with a side of spaghetti. The servings were large, so we had enough for lunch the next day. The food was good, but not anything special. Our server was not friendly at all. Maybe she was having a bad day. We would not go back.

This place is great if it is what you were looking for in a restaurant. It is a non-chain Denny’s. Adjust your expectations to such and you will love it. Food was good with lots of choices for the family. Enjoy it.

DISAPPOINTED! Decided to have Sunday breakfast at a local. Wishing we had changed our minds. Our party was seated with in 5 minutes of arrival. The stressed waitress came over to our table 23 minutes after being seated and asked “What we wanted?”. She didn't speak; ask about drinks just “what we wanted” or anything else of a greeting. We placed our food order and it took sometime to receive our order. A we’re awaiting for our order there was another party seated in front of us awaiting for their check. We flagged down a waitress and she explained that the section we’re in a terrible section and its too much for one person. They also have a new computer system thats really slowing them down. Food: Our food was cold, thrown together on a plate is basically what it appeared and felt like in our opinion. I was definitely shockingly disappointed at the service and food. Out of our entire meal our corn beef hash & home fries were the only decent things we ate.

Hamburger was freezer burnt and onion rings I paid extra for were cold. Probably will not be back here. I ve had spaghetti and meatballs here and the meatballs were the same way but I thought I'd give them another chance. Waitresses are nice but she left me sitting for a long time when I needed to place an order to go for my friend, it wasn't a burger, I am hoping her chicken club is better. When I told waitress and the lady at the register about the hamburger they just wanted to give me another one. I literally told her they would probably All be freezer burnt. No Thanks...

A true diner with the freshest of foods! Never had anything here I didn’t enjoy. There might be line but it moves fast. Worth the wait!

The Gyro platter was great, havn't had breadfast yet, but looking forward to it.

In fairness, I cannot review the food, so I will not agree or disagree with other reviews. We were excited to try it out, but were deprived the opportunity. We waited for a seat for 25 minutes (not unusual on a Sunday lunchtime). Then, we were seated, ordered and waited. An hour later, we’d seen multiple tables come and go and our waitress came by once to give us water. Another table complained, they got their food instantly. We got up to leave and that was the first time anyone came even close to checking on us. Truly, some of the most unattentive staff we’ve encountered. Can’t say we will return.

Shelley has been the best server Iv ever had anywhere. She's fast does not delay on the time she's supposed to be anywhere. I would highly recommend her for a server. I would give her 10 stars if I could!!!

We had a great experience here. The food was fairly priced, and it was very good. The pancakes were OK. I did enjoy the corn beef hash in the eggs. When I return, I would probably try an omelette as for I’ve only had a few bites of it and it was amazing. I also enjoyed the home fries. Definitely an A+.

Great local restaurant. Serves breakfast in the AM and lunch/dinner in the PM. Kristi was our server and she was such a delight! We got a cheese pizza which was pretty good. My SO got a cheeseburger and said it was good. Will definitely be going back.

When we entered we weren’t really welcomed nice and couldn’t really sit at the bar. During dinner we already got our bill before finishing our food so couldn’t order anything anymore. Overall a little unprofessional and wanted to get us out fast.

Best in town! The food is always served quickly, always fresh and hot! Wait staff is very attentive and friendly along with the management. You feel like family when you’re there. Breakfast is served all day which is a plus for my picky little ones. Overall, great restaurant!! Highly recommend.

Phenomenal Diner! Like being back in Philly!

It has taken three BAD experiences to get me to write about this. This place is extremely busy, an obvious favorite for many. The past three times I’ve taken my wife we had bad food from being cold from the kitchen to being just plain BAD. How can anyone make home fried potatoes taste like their base for a pot of soup? That was also the texture, nasty. Omelette’s have been from cold and overcooked to partly raw. Bacon was pretty good today, last time it was burnt. It’s truly disappointing. It’s hard for me to convince my wife I’ve found this wonderful restaurant and have her agree to eat out then this. She looked into my eyes and quietly said “I NEVER WANT TO COME BACK HERE AGAIN “! I’m so disappointed.

My waitress was visually enough to make me not want to eat. Aside from being left to myself my entire meal. I ordered French toast with eggs. I asked for cheese which I got. A slice of processed cheese literally thrown on top of my eggs. Had to ask for the syrup which when received was as dirty and sticky as my waitress. My bacon tasted like smoked dirt and was as pitiful as my service. I eat out twice a day and travel the country. This will never ever be a stop I make again. Good luck Charlottsville. Your go too has left the building.

Got an omelette this morning, the cheese inside the omelette was not melted. Food cold. Potatoes were burnt. Coffee was good. Toast was good. Service was good. Didn’t complain bc I wasn’t sure how it would be received. Disappointing.

Although it seemed very busy and looked like there might be a wait time, we were sat within a few minutes. Drinks were refilled without having to ask. Wait staff were friendly and attentive. Food was delicious, reasonably priced and the portions were generous! I will definitely be eating here again on my next visit!
