Fun, small place for a great unique breakfast.

This was a life changing breakfast. When I walked in, the energy of the place overtook me and I knew it would be a special breakfast experience. Sitting right in front of the grill, watching my food be made, I couldn’t help but look around at the entire environment, and it was full of life and love. Food was just as good as the environment. I ordered the Dinky Dish with an Ube Pancake on the side, both were done to a superb level, full of flavor. My highlight was taking a small bit of my friends “Lil Donkey”, which was incredible. I recommend this place to all demographics, anyone. Great spot.

Excellent little breakfast spot! If there’s a wait I’d recommend putting your name down and walking around town while you wait. They definitely don’t try to push people through quickly, they take their time and let you enjoy your meal and company. Will be going back without doubt.

This place is exactly what eagle river and surrounding areas is missing for breakfast/lunch. Clean, fresh ingredients. The food is amazing. There will be a wait, the place is really small, but it’s 100% worth it. Highly recommend the breakfast burrito, and the purple ube pancakes!

Great place, the staff are wonderful, food is fantastic. If I would make a couple suggestions: 1. Be prepared to wait, the place is very cozy. 2. Get the Ube pancakes, at least try the. I had Lil’ Donkey, it was delicious!

Yummy! Fantastic! Great Breakfast! The three women running the show here are all very good at what they do! My compliments to the Chef!!! Get there around 7:30 AM to to be one of the first seated in this tiny, quaint breakfast spot. If you end up on the waitlist, it’s worth the wait!

WOW is all I can say! The people who work here are super sweet and welcoming! If you are having a hard time picking out what you want to eat they can help you out by doing "dealers choice" and pick for you based off what you do and dont like, which is fun! If I lived up here, I'd be eating here every morning! Food was amazing! I highly recommend and will definitely be back!

Best brunch I’ve ever had! The house made sausage was out of this world, and I loved the atmosphere.

The cutest little diner with food that is so far beyond what you typically find in the Northwoods! The whole atmosphere is cozy, the service was incredible and the server my wife and I had was amazing! Our food was so delicious and full of flavor and they even had a GF cookie for my wife to enjoy after (that she has not stopped raving about!) We will most definitely be coming back!

This would probably be a top 5 breakfast place in any big city. They are doing everything right and all the food is very well thought out. Absolute nicest people in the world too. The purple pancake is my picky 4yo's absolute favorite thing!

This place never disappoints. The food is fantastic. I have never had the same thing twice. I want to try it all. My husband always gets the Irishmen. He declares that it is the best corned beef ever! Today I had the Croquet madame. It was so good I teared up a little. Wish I could eat here all the time. Way to go y'all!

I have been wanting to go to toad in the hole for a while now and finally had the opportunity to try out this cute diner. The food is unbelievable! I had the little donkey, which was incredibly flavorful. I also order a side of delicious seasoned fries with their garlic aoli. This garlic aoli sauce will blow your mind! I’m a big sauce fan and this sauce comes out on top for my favorite sauces!!! My husband had their special, maple bacon hash and he loved it!

We had Irishman and mountaineer both where very good also had a side of brioche cinnamon french toast sticks delicious. Very nice inside.

Literally the BEST food in town! Do not miss out while you’re here! Every single thing on the menu is amazing it’s fresh it’s high quality ingredients it’s creative!! Female owned and operated, the decor is very cute and the service is amazing! Just be prepared to wait 30-40 minutes for your table, this place is tiny but mighty!!

My girlfriend and I decided to rent an Airbnb in Eagle River and stumbled upon the cutest little breakfast diner. There was a 40 minute wait (well worth it some nice shops to walk to nearby). The food was phenomenal, some of the best breakfast food I've ever had. Super nice staff. These fantastic ladies are putting out killer food. Exceptional service. I never write reviews but damn this place is a gem.

I come up to Eagle River from Chicago every fall and was so excited to see that this place had opened. The interior is truly super cute and the food was just as good if not better than any of the brunch food I can get back in the city. Service was great and I'm going to be recommending this joint to anyone I know that ends up in the area. Glad y'all are here!

Update: I've become a regular here. The French toast is LIFE CHANGING. I also highly recommend the Mountaineer. The ham is so good, never dry at all. Best restaurant in the northwoods! The place is super small, but super cute! The cook was very helpful with being Celiac safe for my daughter but cooking her food in her own pan. They also had gluten-free options clearly marked on the menu. Our waitress Tiffani was so sweet too! She played a game with my daughter and gave her a sticker from the restaurant. I have nothing negative to say, even the food was incredible!

Hear me. This place is different. It's not your usual greasy spoon diner. Each item that's created is done with thoughtfulness and care. You could even say love. It's the difference between a good meal and an epic meal. The food is, as far as I can tell, 100% made from scratch. It's all so good. This place is small and cozy. A few 4 place booths and the counter. All the cooking is done right in front of you so you get to watch the magic happen. The service is friendly and prompt. I know I will be back many times, this is a gem in the City of Eagle River.

This is a true gem that you find on the road. If you're lucky enough to drive through this town, make sure you stop here. The food is 10 out of 10. The staff is 12 out of 10 and it's a great family run restaurant that will not disappoint. It is mandatory that you try the deep fried French toast sticks of course :) Thanks so much for having us!!

Every bite reminds you of how beautiful life can be. It's hard to eat their French toast sticks and not be convinced of some higher power doing their magic through this restaurant. Service was amazing as well and the decor is vibey. Definitely recommend.

I have been trying restaurants in Eagle River for over 10 years. This is the BEST breakfast/brunch spot in the Northwoods. The atmosphere: fun & airy. For its small stature, they made good use of the space. To be clear, there is space for maybe 20-30 people at once. Several 4-person booths and a row of bar seats. Pro tip: if there’s a line when you get there, give them your cell number and head next door for coffee at The Grind while you wait for them to call you when table is ready. The service: these people genuinely seem to enjoy their job. They greet you with a smile & are kind. They know the menu, can make recommendations, and told some jokes. Good humans. The food: this is where the rubber hits the road. You can exist as a restaurant for while if you get the location & the service right, but this place also NAILS the food. We tried 3 breakfast options and one of the purple sweet potato pancakes. Every single dish was tasty - not greasy. Tasted fresh. Will be my go-to spot for breakfast, hopefully for years to come. Ownership: keep doing what you are doing & pay your people well

We had the most amazing breakfast at Toad in the Hole in Eagle River yesterday. We sat at the counter, which we highly recommend, as it was a show in itself! The food was outstanding, and the menu highly creative! So nice to see more than the same old breakfast food. Chef Ashley is a true culinary artist! We just moved back to ER full-time and hadn't been here for years, as in when it was Don's Dinky Diner. Ok, could have added "Dingy" in there, too, but it served great food! It is dingy no more! The decor is lovely! Think "English garden meets Northwoods"! It is still "dinky," though, so prepare to wait. It is so, so worth it, though! From sweet potato (Ube) pancakes the size of a plate to heaping mounds of hashbrowns to perfectly-cooked corned beef hash to handmade French toast sticks to giant tortillas filled with flank steak, eggs and veggies topped with Cry Baby crema to a Cajun frittata, you won't go wrong! Our service was excellent! Not sure how Chef Ashley keeps so calm under pressure, but it was a pleasure to watch her and speak with her! And no, we're not related or were we friends before this! Haha! Our new go-to breakfast place! Open year round. Closed Wed.

Three of us traveled to Eagle River to visit Toad. Totally deserving of the great reviews. Clean, very sweet restaurant, great communication, very pleasant hard-working well- coordinated staff. We sat at the counter and loved watching the action in the kitchen 2 feet away. Like a ballet. And did I mention the food? So so delicious - and interesting! Thank you for a lovely morning.

Everyone here rocks. Food is brain-meltingly good. people act like they Want you to pull up a chair and stick around, and they will listen to whatever it is that's troubling you. Place is like church, but for tired, hungover, and weary punks, witches, and other forest folks. Welcoming atmosphere and I return for the Sausage Egg MacNurlan any time I can.

This place is incredible. It was the best pancake I’ve ever had and everything we ate was incredible. I will be driving the 4+ hours from home to eat there again.

In an original diner space from the 40s, you will love this place. It's a small, intimate diner (locals won't be surprised when they walk in), but if you're new to the area this may surprise you. The women-owned diner did a great job renovating the space, and we cannot get over the decor. Finally, the food is amazing. As a vegetarian, there were great options for me, and I cannot wait to come back.

What?! This place is incredible. Had a short wait (<20 minutes) as there is seating for probably 25 people in the place. A short walk around the downtown area, and when checking back in, got seated. One chef, two servers- the food was made from scratch and so delicious- service was top notch. Take the time to wait- you won’t regret it!
