What a gem! Stopped here on a whim with my partner on the way home from Newark airport and I’m so glad we did! Fantastic quality Thai food and my favorite part, the tranquil and elevated atmosphere. Staff was also very gracious and attentive. Highly recommend and can’t wait to come back.

What a great surprise!! We went the whole family ( 3 kids) and we had great time at the atmosphere was so authentic the service was great she helped us with any question we had. The food was so delicious we finish everything even to take the pictures I had to fight with my family 😂

Named after a traditional Thai soup with savory shrimp spiced with Thai herbs, mushrooms, lemongrass, and lime leaves, Tom Yum Koong is located on the corner off of Boulevard in Hasbrouck Heights. Upon arrival for lunch today, I was greeted by the staff and led to a table inside a cozy, elegant, and beautiful atmosphere designed to be peaceful and warm. My last visit was in 2018. Reservations are highly recommended on weekends. The menu offers an exotic array of dishes, from soups to salads to fish to curries. I decided on the lunch menu featuring Pad See Ew (stir fried flat noodles with Chinese broccoli in black soy sauce and egg) accompanied by a Tom Yum soup with tofu and side salad. The high-quality food arrived quick, very flavorful, and delicious. The service was amazing. Everyone who worked there was very friendly and helpful. I made small talk with one of the husband-wife duo owners, Ann. The price was comparable to the area. I can recommend this place.

With all the Thai restaurants in the area, this may be the best one so far. I've always been satisfied coming here. The food and service was great. Would recommend to anyone.

First time coming here and was disappointed to the fullest! I ordered the Thai basil stir fry and was told they could sautéed the tofu because frying it would be cross contamination due to me not eating meat or seafood. The food was brought out as I was heading to wash my hands and when I came back another lady said the person who told me it could be sautéed was new and didn’t know better. Annoyed, I ordered the glass noodle dish asking that no eggs, cabbage or carrots are in the dish and carrots was the first thing I saw when it was brought out but aside from that the dish itself looked unappetizing and the portion was the size of a lunch portion and they were changing $17 for a scoop of noodles. No thank you!

Got to the restaurant at 2:40 for them to be closed, meanwhile their break is at 3:30. I also don't understand why their kitchen is closed 3. I don't understand the point of being open for an hour and a half

Way too overpriced for the portions you get and the taste. I ordered Thai basil with vegetables and they charged me $17.95. It was a bowl of veggies, mostly onions. To charge almost $18 for only vegetables and a side of white rice is insane. The flavor was bland, didn’t have the strong thai basil flavor you usually get with thai. Probably won’t come back here.

Great overall, but prices were too much for food quality. I will come back, I will only be more careful with prices at the time of ordering.

Went for a Saturday lunch, right when they opened at noon. Lovely restaurant, with tables to hold about 20-30 guests, lots of nice Thai arts and crafts. The menu has a good variety of Thai dishes and drinks. We started with some amazing appetizers, mussels and chicken satay were good, Tom yum Koong soup was incredible. Probably the best tom yum soup I had in the longest time. Such good mixture of the spice and citrus, with perfectly cooked shrimp. For entree we got the panang curry, duck curry and pineapple fried rice with squid. All were beautiful dishes. All tasted so good with the Thai curry, spice and vegetables. Duck curry is really recommended, for the tenderness of the meat mixed with the sauce. Not to mention all these items came out of kitchen in lightning speed. Our server was really nice. She said to reserve on weekends if you plan to come for dinner, since it gets super busy.

This was quite possibly the best Thai I have ever had. Their pad see ew was insanely good. So much flavor. My kids loved it, my husband loved it. My husbands only complaint; he wished the portion was larger. Do yourself a favor and just go here. So good!! Friendly staff too!

Very small, quaint, Thai restaurant The spring rolls and pad Thai were excellent, as was the soup and salad. Lunch specials were budget friendly and parking was available on the street nearby. Will visit again on next trip to Hackensack.

Food and service is Great!! But you really need to update your menu on line. It has the wrong Prices across the whole menu.

Our family is a regular that we eats here once or twice a month. The foods are all delicious and nothing beats the great customer service the owner Ann gives to her customers. Very accomodating!

Recently, we faced a lot of dufficulties in placing orders no matter it's over the phone or via their website. We tried numorous times, nobody answered the call during nomal business hours and the website always gave us "Hmm,the online ordering is currently disabled for this restaurant". We thought the business was closed until we drove by, they're open. Well, we wonder if the managerment knows their current terrible take-out experience.

This is the BEST Thai Restaurant you will find anywhere. Thai Fried Rice and Pad Ginger, are family favorites. Beverage wise Thai Ice Tea and Coconut water are excellent. Dessert the fried banana with honey is great. High quality food, crystal clean, great service. Top recommendation.

Listen as an avid Thai cuisine master, this restaurant is phenomenal!! Don’t walk, RUN HERE. The food and ambiance is perfect, great intimate place to go on a date and enjoy some amazing food with loved ones or just eat by yourself if that’s you. The staff is super mega ultra friendly and attentive!! The Thai iced tea and coffee is BOMB. Can drink multiple gallons of either and or both. The curry puffs and spring rolls are phenomenal, super flavorful. Can eat endless loads of that any day. I have had the massaman curry, Penang curry, shrimp fried rice and another dish with these fat noodles that was amazing and i just forgot the name. People show up and show out for this local gem!!!

Pad Kee maw was sweet instead of spicy. Tom Kha Gai barely had any chicken in it. food was pricey

One of the best chicken pad see ew I’ve eaten anywhere in the world. It look, smell, and taste amazing. Compliments to the chef. The staff were also friendly and diligent at their job. I highly recommend this place.

My daughter and I love Panang Curry with chicken and have ordered it from many places. Tom Yum Koong in Hasbrouck Heights makes it the best! ♥♥♥♥♥ Just enough kick without going over board and very tasty. We ordered take out so I cant review the service or atmosphere but the portion was large allowing 2 sizeable meals from one order. I suggest ordering extra rice so you have enough for the extra Panang you'll have left over. I could drink the curry its so good. I'll definitely be back for more!! ♥

Today, I didn't want to cook, and I love Thai cuisine. My palate was craving a delicious Thai salad and Pad Thai shrimp , while my husband wanted soup and pineapple fried rice. This is my second time visiting this restaurant, and I love it. They have delicious food and very helpful staff. I've attached some photos for you to get a glimpse of this cozy place.

Very rude service. Called at 2.00 pm to make reservations and was told to come before 2.15 because the kitchen closes at 3 pm . People came at 2.45 n they didn’t say anything. Why only because we are Indian was treaded different? Food was good , they added the tip instead we deciding how much we want to pay . The receipt says 18%. 20% and 25% n they included 25% I don’t think they can charge what they want .

12/13/23 We've been here many many times, but this is my 1st time reviewing. Everything we've ever order is delicious! Service is always wonderful! Cute little corner restaurant. Steamed Dumplings - this is so flavorful. Looks like a mess though, it looks like the dumpling fell apart when plating. lol But who cares with the flavor! YUM! Kang Ped Ped Yang (Curry Duck) - this was delicious! I was weary about the pineapple because I'm not a fan of fruits in my entrees, but this worked and it enhanced the duck. YUM! Grilled Pork Chop - The flavor was amazing! I actually wished there was more of the sauce. Mango Iced Tea - needs more mango flavor Pineapple soda - was too sweet

The food is good but the quantity is not much for the price. Also the price is almost double from what is mentioned on google! The dessert menu is expensive and the portions are too small for that too.

Tom kha Gai was delicious with lots of chicken and mushrooms. I was a bit disappointed in the Pad Thai, which was quite bland. The price was a dollar higher than posted on the online menu which made it feel bit expensive for the amount of food. Will be willing to try another dish as it's the closest Thai restaurant.

My wife and I stopped by for dinner. We were pleasantly surprised with the flavorful and delicious food we were served. I highly recommend this place for Thai cuisine.

Went there with my sister and neice. The chicken fried rice, chicken drunken noodle and chicken Pad See Yow. Would definitely return.

Food is good. Staff is inattentive. They bring your food and you don't hear from them again unless you flag somebody down. Possibly because there's not enough of them. The place has the ridiculous policy of closing between 3:30 & 4:30 after opening at noon. Nothing quite as annoying as Googling a restaurant at 2:00pm and seeing a green OPEN message, driving all the way there and finding a locked door at 4:00pm and " Closed for Break" sign with the staff all sitting around talking. Here's an idea... hire a couple more people, and when you open at noon STAY OPEN!

This is one of my favorite places to eat. My family and I have been coming here since they opened and they have only improved. Expect to want to order everything on the menu at least once.

Before we lived together my fiancee lived down the block from this place. Once we tried it it was all either of us wanted for a meal out. I must've tried a dozen different dishes and all the apps and was never let down. We've since moved away, but always look for reasons to stop by on our way back home. Still haven't found a place that comes even close to Tom Yum for Thai in the state.

The Pad Thai is excellent! So is the Ped Kara Tiem (Duck). Loved their spring rolls too. I cannot wait to try everything on the menu.

Visiting from LA and had to have my thai fix. After reviewing the reviews we decided to try Tom Yum. Did not disappoint. Asked that my garlic chicken b done Thai style. Wow 😳 is all that is being said. Thanks Summer for the wonderful service!!!!!!

It was my first time here and generally, when I ask what the staff recommends, I get decent recommendations of what is popular or what I like. Our server actually spent the time going through most of the menu with us and gave us some very personalized opinions that I really appreciated. I ended up getting the steamed dumpling appetizer and the duck entree. The service was impeccable and the food was great. In a totally biased and unusual situation, even the other patrons were happy to enter the discussion and told me their favorite dishes here. They seem to have a lot of regulars that are extremely loyal to their food. The place was absolutely packed, but the wait wasn't bad at all. I would absolutely return to this place and I highly recommend it.

The restaurants name is Tom Yum Koong and their actual TomYum soup is very bland...doesnt have that kick to it. Very watery. Instant tomyum noodle from the grocery stores tastes much more authentic than what they serve. Chicken skewers were pretty good. Pad kee mao with beef was fair. Red curry was just coconut milk flavored.

My favorite Thai spot to go to around my area (Bergen County). The food tastes amazing and the price is just right. Staff is very friendly and kind. Definitely recommend.

Came for lunch. Food was a little watered down for me.

Had the traditional Tom Yum shrimp soup. It was super flavorful, tasty and delicious! For entree I had the veggie red curry with coconut milk sauce. I immensely enjoyed EVERY sweet and spicy bite of this dish. Very clean and relaxing atmosphere!

Spring rolls were slightly bigger than I was expecting which made them pretty filling. The chicken pad see eww was very tasty, as was the Thai iced tea. The service was excellent. I never felt rushed and I loved how they waited until I said I was done with the appetizer before bringing out my hot entree.

Food is good however plan to pay alot for takeout. I have always ordered from here. Been a few months and the prices have jumped drastically. One dish went up $8 higher and another two by $6. I understand inflation right now however that is a little ridiculous .I ordered from their menu on their website that has I guess the old prices. Went in to talk to them and they would not honor the prices on their website and could care less about customer sercice. Well they have now lost a longtime customer.

I believe Tom Yum Koong is the NJ no.1 Thai restaurant. Whenever I am tempted to eat Thai Food, this restaurant is my first priority in my listing. I am vegetarian, so I usually enjoy the entree with tofu! Every ingredient in each food is fresh. The reason why I like this place is toasted tofu and a lot of vegetables more than rice or noodles. Even my bf is not vegetarian and not used to eating tofu but he admitted the tofu with rice is the best. Even though we ordered two foods from the restaurant, we forgot to take one photo because we are hurried to eat it haha :) - Thai Fried Rice (Tofu, fresh veggies and soft rice !!!) - Pad Kee Mao (a little spicy! I like the spicy flavor so I love this!) If you are exploring thai food in restaurants, they give you most of the noodles other than veggies or other extra ingredients, but here is not. If you visit this place, you will never regret to try it here.

I love this place. My favorite Thai restaurant in NJ. From the Thai salad to the dumplings, curry puffs to the pad Thai. AMAZING every time, and it’s BYOB!

It took me 20 minutes to get a hold of them, because I kept getting a busy signal, and when it actually rang, they let it ring until my phone hung up. When I finally got someone to answer, they immediately told me they’d put me on hold for 2 minutes. 20 minutes later, I gave up. Terrible customer service. If you don’t want to do takeout, then don’t list your phone number and say to call for takeout.

Possibly the best Thai food I have had outside of Thailand in the past 23 years since we left Thailand after living there for almost five years. The Som Tam was delicious. The Green Curry was very tasty, and the mango and sticky rice was a very nice finish to a great meal. I know my Thai food and I can say with confidence you will absolutely love this place.

Their food is always good! We eat from them on weekly basis now. Definitely the best thai food in town! Food is always well seasoned, spice level is also on point. Chicken satay is pretty good. Very good amount for lunch special as well.

Definitely one of the best Thai food I've ever had, and I've had a lot. Curry is slightly on the sweeter side which I love. The Tom Kha Gai chicken soup just blew me away, as did the Thai fried rice.

Best Pad Thai and Pad See Ew. These dishes are staples and any Thai restaurant but the chef here takes them to an all new level. Really fantastic. Can't go wrong with a visit to Tom Yum Koong.

Do NOT EAT HERE! My daughter ordered a Thai tea that she didn’t like at all. This was our first time eating at this restaurant and my daughters first time ordering a Thai tea. We were told by who seemed to be the manager that they were not taking it off the bill. I’ve never heard of this before in the restaurant/ food industry. Long story short- the mgr said it would be best for us to leave “because she did not want any problems” and now they’re going to have even bigger problems. We are going to report them to the BBB. My husband, myself and 3 children one being a 7 month old were asked to LEAVE. This is a business that makes tons of money im sure what would it have cost them to replace the Thai tea with an apple-juice or ginger ale.

Wow! I have eaten a lot of Thai food in my travels, and can comfortably say this is by far one of the best places I visited. Very clean and inviting with wait staff that are friendly and attentive. The Pad See Ew was delicious with just the right amount of spice. Make sure you have cash, Visa or Mastercard, since they don't accept American Express.

It's better than most thai food in the area, however the prices are little high in my opinion. Fried rice is 14-15? And add beef and you're closer to 20 $ for some fried rice.
