Awesome place! Right off the trail. Get the French Toast!

Always great to go to. Then we hit the trails. Be an early bird and get in early!!

We can’t say enough about this place! After reading reviews, we thought “why not” sweet mother it was absolutely THE best restaurant around! There is no place up north that compares with the breakfast! Outstanding fluffy, soft melt in your mouth biscuits with hot homemade creamy sausage gravy…. Eggs cooked to perfection and excellent, flavorful perfectly cooked sausage and bacon. The cinnamon rolls were to die for- warm and soft, pull apart- covered in just the right amount of homemade cream cheese frosting… and fresh in -season watermelon! The waffles looked outstanding, but I was so full I couldn’t try them- we are going back tomorrow! When we walked out everyone was so kind wishing us well! It’s a very clean place! Every staff member greeted us warmly… unlike so many other establishments around…and our coffee was always topped off. All of the patrons were smiling and kind- best atmosphere hands down in at least a 200 mile radius! Bravo to Dawns!!! 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼

If you are in the area, this is a must for breakfast. All you can eat, home cooking and cinnamon rolls. They will even make you pancakes or french toast fresh. We will be stopping back in the next time we are camping up in the area.

It was really good. We got in and out really fast. We will definitely be back.

Wow supper neat place I never knew it was there. I thought we were lost going there but my husband knew where we were going. Only open on the weekends with a very safe buffet and the food was made fresh. The cinnamon rolls were excellent. I can't wait to go there again!

My fiancee jesse and I absolutely loved Dawn's cpl class it was very fun and one of the best days I've had! It was great to have rich come in and teach the legal part! Would recommend Dawn's class to ANYONE wanting to get there cpl!

Came back to the cabin and then my daughter and her husband left to go eat there. They also agreed on my statement above. Thank you for being in our community. We will be back!

It was very relaxing and a lot of good food

(Restaurant review only, not CPL class). Wife and I visited Saturday, July 5th, 2019 for the first time, around 8 in the morning. Wife and I stopped in because Dawn's is near our place in Irons and we've seen a lot of good things on Facebook about it on the ATV/ORV groups. Dawn's Country Kitchen is out of the way, off the beaten path, but close to the trail systems in Lake County (Accessible right from Twin Creek road, which leads south to the trails). It's pretty nondescript, and if driving by, you might not even think twice about it unless you were looking for it. So, for trail riders, it's super convenient for breakfast on the weekends. (They're generally open weekends only, and until noon, I believe). They serve a buffet style breakfast only, but they have made to order pancakes and French toast. My wife ordered the French toast and I tried it, we both agree it was excellent French toast, cooked fresh, very tasty, Texas style bread! In addition, my wife had bacon, scrambled eggs, and hash browns. She also had an orange juice with her meal. She liked the bacon, it was cooked perfectly, but felt the eggs were not superb, but not bad by any means. She was mostly disappointed with her hash browns, which were cold. Admittedly, we didn't go check if they had any that were hot, and being a buffet, they probably could have solved that for her, but we didn't bother asking. No big deal. I had a bit of bread pudding, and it was really very good. I also had 2 sausage links, a biscuit with country gravy, and some scrambled eggs. I do agree with my wife on the eggs. They weren't great. But, the person cooking, whom I believe was Dawn, did stop us as we were both getting eggs, and had us put back the eggs that we had, and gave us fresh eggs. Sausage links were good. The biscuit I had was good, and seemed homemade. Unfortunately, I didn't care for the county gravy. It may have been homemade, I'm not sure, but it seemed like gravy I've had that was canned. It was relatively bland and didn't have much sausage in it. I hate saying anything negative (see my prior reviews), but I thought the gravy could be improved upon. In addition to the above (I didn't try any of the following), they also serve fruit, homemade cinnamon rolls, and make-your-own waffles (kind of like a hotel continental breakfast). They have coffee, water, and various juices). Service at Dawn's was decent and our host was friendly, though it took a bit to get my coffee when it was relatively un-busy, but not crazy long. The coffee was fresh, and I told my wife later that it was great coffee. They even gave me some in my to-go mug that I had with me. Overall, Dawn's is a cool, out of-the-way location near the trails and not far from Irons. Decent and friendly service. Good food overall and coffee, though small improvements could be made (as noted above). Our bill for both my wife and I was just about $21.65, and that included a coffee and an orange juice (I'm not sure those are extra cost or included). So you're looking at around $10.50 a person for a buffet with various options. The bread pudding is worth that alone, to be honest. It was excellent. If you're in the area, hungry for breakfast, give Dawn's a try. ***Edit*** forgot to mention, it was a warm day, and Dawn's did seem very warm inside (added it to make sure my review was thorough). I also forgot to mention that the restaurant was very clean inside.

Took the CCW/CPL with Dawn on the coldest day if the year in January, but the classroom was warm and friendly! Dawn is a very informed and prepared instructor. The prosess is clearly communicated and went smoothly from registration through finalizing the paperwork at our county courthouse. I would (and did) highly recommend this class to anyone looking to obtain their CPL.

Absolutely love this place. The owners are the nicest people you will find anywhere in the world. Great food and atmosphere. Also they do ccw classes here. Absolutely phenomenal training and skill. Extremely knowledgeable in all aspects of safety and responsibilities. I simply cannot say enough good about these people. Absolutely love and respect them. Oh and they make super cinnamon rolls, and breakfast I can't wait to try that. Please stop in and check it out, you will not be disappointed.

Dawn is an absolute hoot! Funny, witty and a great CPL instructor. She worked closely and professionally in a kind and caring yet firm leadership role as a class leader and range instructor and added humor every step of the way. The food she cooked complemented the atmosphere to a perfect day. If you're looking for great food or a great CPL class, give Dawn a call, you will be glad you did.

Outstanding a nice little piece off the beaten path excellant food and hospitality

It was a great experience. The place is owned by Bob and his wife Dawn. Dawn is also the cook it seems, she was quite friendly. We showed up later in the afternoon, passing through for work. It was a simplified menu and perfect for a long day. We ordered the good 'ol standby, cheeseburger and fries and it was pretty damn tasty. The company was very inviting. Bob came over and introduced himself, and to our surprise he is also the Lake County Sheriff. It's a small town place on a dirt road in what appears to be the back part of town. You would not normally think to stop here or even notice it, but we personally recommend it. Be careful if ur on a budget because the price will easily sneak up on you. For the two of us with the same meal each and 2 drinks, we were at $25. It was more than anticipated but it was comfortable and good. The owners make it worth it. If your in the area, try it. You might be surprised.
