I recently visited Tucanes with high hopes, as my husband is Costa Rican and we were craving authentic cuisine. Unfortunately, our experience was quite disappointing. To start, the food was clearly not fresh. The chicharrón was burnt and dark, indicating it was overcooked. When I mentioned this to one of the managers, she immediately agreed just by looking at it and brought us a new batch. Despite this effort, the replacement wasn’t much better. Additionally, the waitress was not very attentive, which only added to our frustration. We hadn’t visited in a while and were looking forward to a good meal, but this visit fell far short of our expectations. We will definitely not be returning. It’s a shame because we wanted to enjoy a taste of Costa Rica, but Tucanes did not deliver.

A place where we Ticos remember our country, because the atmosphere feels like our home and the meals remind us of popular Costa Rican cuisine.

The decor at this morsel of Costa Rican culture is aesthetically pleasing and if you’re in the area, this is one of the better Tico spots. We watched Costa Rica beat Paraguay in a Copa America game while eating pupusas, un Casado and Tacos Ticos and totally hit the spot. Especially since they served some salsa Lizano on the side.

Excellent service, very good prices and above all delicious and authentic Costa Rican food.

I just returned from Costa Rica! Three days later I ran to Tucanes for Costa Rican food! They do not disappoint! Delicious, fresh, authentic and beautifully presented is exactly how to describe my meal! In addition to scrumptious food, Tucanes Has a lovely, pristine atmosphere with excellent service. Restrooms are immaculate! I love this place. I went back a week later for another wonderful experience! I am now a regular!

The best Costa Rican restaurant in New Jersey! I love their chifrijo dish (with chicken), their seviche is heavenly, and their seafood soup is marvelous. Their strawberry banana smoothie juice is very tastey and refreshing as well. The atmosphere in the restaurant inside and out is simply beautiful. Pura Vida

Tucanes is cozy in both atmosphere and service. The food is beautifully plated, the flavors are phenomenal, and the portions are so generous. It was such a wonderful introduction to Costa Rican food for me! After going a couple of times, it is already one of my favorite places!

This place definitely feels like home! Just recently, we hosted a birthday here at Tucanes, and let me tell you, the service was exceptionally good. Everyone was super friendly and catered to our every need. The restaurant is beautifully designed as well. Everyone at the table raved about how good the food was as well. It's the best Costa Rican restaurant ever!☆

Great variety. Interesting menu. Clean restaurant nice ambiance. Try this when you want something different! Lots of interesting dishes with black beans, cheese rice etc.

Don't order the thin piece of paper they call a crispy chicken sandwich, the bread was hard you could count the add ons with one hand.

Really enjoyed my fried snapper! It ended up lasting me for three meals. I received this sauce that I had never heard of. It was so delicious! The meal was very reasonable priced. I plan to return in the very near future.

I had the arroz cantones and it lacked a little seasoning for my licking. I expected a stronger flavor. Same thing with the arroz con pollo my girlfriend had. The fries were actually pretty good and the Strawberry smoothie made with milk was really good. The staff was actually really friendly and welcoming.

I went with my mom To this restaurant The waiter was so nice I got Costa Rican rice and chicken With some salad and fries on the side It was delicious the chicken was nice and juicy And I drank a nice refreshing Pepsi on the side. My mom got Steak With some steamed veggies on the side and plantains. And my baby brother got some Empanadas And chicken nuggets and fries For less than $70 this was pretty good and a great deal too I will definitely be back here again Thank you Tucanes .

Authentic Costa Rican flavor and very tasty dishes. The service is 5 stars, very attentive and polite staff. Prices are good keeping in mind the quality of the food they served. As you can expect the indoor salon is closed but luckily they have a small outdoor space next to the building with a couple of tables which is perfect for me because i like the outdoor dining experience. Ask for their Piña Colada, the best i ever had. As far as for the food everything is great so choose with confidence. Will keep coming back!
