This place gets packed! Expect to wait at least 20 mins during morning rush hrs but you could always order online. The bagel sandwich was delicious. I can’t wait to try other things on the menu.

Classic jewish deli, with really solid bagels and breakfast sandwiches. It has the right atmosphere, and the service is pretty good. Definitely the best bagels you can find north of Skokie (NY Bagel and Bialy takes the cake in Chicagoland). Their prices have really skyrocketed though. $8.99 for a breakfast bagel is insane. And a dozen bagels will run you $17.99 before cream cheese. Definitely overpriced given that they operate out of an old strip mall in hidden back alley, but I guess they have very little competition...

This is my absolute favorite place to get bagel sandwiches. I find any excuse to drive here from the city to get them (because I have yet to find a place in the city that has bagel sandwiches as good as Upper Crust).

I lived in Brooklyn until 2020. Upper Crust is at least as good as the average bagel joint in NYC. They even nail the atmosphere. The only thing missing is a coffee menu.

Hours on their door and Google are wrong. If you walk in at 1:30 pm on Sunday, they will yell at you that they are closed.

I come here often for lunch. The lunch specials are great. Really good quick service bagel/deli spot. Very conveniently located. Really good bagels and sandwiches. I have high confidence everything else is good too. I have been to the sister location on Dundee in Northbrook and it is good as well.

Who doesn't love a good bagel. This place has the best bagels in the entire Chicagoland area. Old school deli with a great selection of salads and fantastic lox, whitefish and other cold cuts. Always worth the trip! Try the upper crust tuna salad!

The bagels are decent, but knocking off a couple stars for the very unfriendly service.

Deli meat was good but the corned beef wasn't cut right so it was long strands and chewy. Beef Pastrami was outstanding. Chicken Noodle soup tasted like it was made Saturday, I was there on a Monday. Most disappointing was the potato salad which was either spoiled or on the fridge of going bad. Couldn't eat it. There are lots of other items I wanted to try but I'm not sure I'll go back. Friendly service may be the reason I give the lox and pizza bagles a shot.

Love their breakfast bagel which I get almost every other weekend. Also enjoyed their potato salad. Very busy on the weekends so you may want to call in your order.

The bagels are fantastic and everyone is very friendly. Especially Cecilia! Sometimes I have difficult orders when friends come to town and I feel like Cecilia always gets me on those occasions, but she always is super helpful and gets the orders 100% correct. I’ve been coming here for years and have never been disappointed.

I'm a fan of the multi-grain herb, but the onion was excellent as well.

Best bagel shop on the North Shore.

Occasionally the parking lot can be a real "balagon" -- when customers decide to create their own lanes and custom parking spaces -- so be alert. However, t's worth navigating the lot to get the excellent UC bagels, etc. (The "etc" refers to the fact that this is a full-service deli.) Although the bagels are a bit pricey, you can take advantage of the happy hour deal from 3:00 - 4:00 p.m. daily. At that time you can get six bagels for $6.95 and a dozen bagels for $8.95. Yes, it's a gamble because your favourite(s) may be sold out by then, but truly, there's no such thing as a bad Upper Crust bagel. See my earlier review (March 23, 2020) for more details.

Great bagels but prices have gotten out of line. Everywhere else is $1.10-1.15. Upper crust is $1.70. Kettle boiled east coast bagels at NY bagel and bialy are $1.10

Ever since I got the challah rolls from this place I’ve been addicted to them. Great with some cream cheese and great with butter.

I have been using Upper Crust Bagels since they came to Deerfield. I had an occasion to order a fish tray yesterday that I get at least once a year from them. My guests were in love with the sable, barbecued salmon, and nova lox! Every piece was moist and delicious! Thank you Upper Crust for your outstanding products!

Very good but way overpriced, probably only good for special occasions.

We ordered a pre-made sandwich tray and a dessert tray and everything was delicious! Great quality and generous portions. We had it delivered and it came exactly on time. I highly recommend!

Fast, inexpensive, and delicious.

I grew up in Deerfield, then moved to Seattle, and then to Taiwan, and now I'm back. I've been to the other side of the country, the other side of the world, and I've yet to find better bagels, hand cut lox, and breakfast sandwiches. (Also, those double chocolate muffins 🤤)

I came in and it was only one customer inside. They took about two minutes to acknowledge me. I ordered a lox bagel with plain cream cheese. The lox was salty, too much cream cheese and too many red onions. With a soda and chips, the bill was $14.38. I don't recommend this place for lox bagels. Go to New York bagel and bialy in Lincolnwood, is the best.

Great little breakfast place besides being a bagel and bialys shop. Lots of different meats that can be added to a bagel sandwich. Los, salami, Turkey, ham, and the list goes on. Egg salad, tuna salad, SALMON salad. Yummmmm. I really dont know why I didnt try this place sooner.

I went on Christmas. They were open but so busy I left. We get their bagels from time to time always good. Usually great service but didn’t expect great service on Christmas. Overall good bagel

A little on the pricier side, but as far as this obnoxious New Yorker is concerned, the closest thing to a real bagel in Illinois. Delicious lox too. Never regret coming here. Good bialy too. I always also get a pack of their bagel chips.

Upper crust is the place to go to for fresh bagels every morning and they have one of the greatest like sandwiches around why? because they have the fresh salmon unlocked you can get! yes, I always make my standard joke at the cash register when they hand me the bill and I ask them, "what.... did I break a window"? nobody really laughs because they've been hearing it for 10 years but I'm telling you this is the best luck sandwich on the planet!

We have been coming here for YEARS for these dense and chewy New-York-style bagels. They are all outstanding -- especially my two favourites, salt and pumpernickel. (Insert drooly Homer Simpson "Mmm, salt and pumpernickel" here.) Upper Crust also offers plain, supreme, whole wheat, onion, black Russian, poppy seed, blueberry, sesame, cinnamon raisin, egg, herb, garlic and chocolate chip. There is a full deli counter.

The best New York style deli around. Bagels are excellent and not the "cakey" kind that you find at other local "delis". Lox is fantastic too. I drive almost an hour (one way) a few times a year just to get the good stuff.

Absolutely love the breakfast sandwiches, rugelah ,Mandel bread, and of course all the bagels are so perfect. Forget about the chain bagel stores. Don’t even think about grocery store bagels it taste like cardboard. No frozen bagels from the freezer department for me either. Upper crust bagels rocks!!

This is the spot in town to grab a quick breakfast or sandwich for lunch. They do amazing New York style bagels and a variety of other breads. All of the food is fresh and it is divine. Get lox or any of the cream cheeses. The sandwiches are good sized and filling. Breakfast and lunch sandwiches. They open early which is good for morning commuters.

Delicatessen and Bagels galore ! Lox and Bagel is always a good choice. Your choice of bagel for your individual taste. Take home a package of bagels and anything in the Deli Counter for later. Whenever we get together for a family brunch, we bring the bagels from Upper Crust. They're "real" bagels made the old-fashioned way, and always fresh. Don't toast 'em - it would be a shonda!

Great place! The Bagels, Salmon spread, tuna salad and egg white salad are just a few of my favorites here. Everything is amazing and fresh. Staff is friendly and service is fast! Sandwiches are made to order with all the right toppings. Would highly recommend them and they cater too!

If you are considering going here, stop what you're doing and just go right now. The bagels are incredible. And the staff is very friendly. They also have great sugar cookies. One of Deerfield's true treasures.

Awesome hidden village gem! I make UC a regular stop several times a week. Sometimes for a pefect bagel breakfast sandwich or lox samadhi he... always prepared perfectly! My family loves when we get the brunch spread... bagels, lox, tuna, egg salad... again all delicious. I enjoy my routine visits as all the staff treat me as a close friend. Treat yourself to UC!

Ok I'm going to say something you would believe but Upper Crust Bsgels are "the Best bagels in Chicagoland". Very high praise by me but go try these great bagels. Then go and write your review! The are New York style. Atmosphere fits the old deli look. Great breakfast and lunch sandwiches.

Excellent fresh bagels. Nice complementary bagel chips as you enter. Superb hand cut lox. But if you're in a hurry, and your hungry, and you like a solid breakfast, then order one of the sandwiches off the grill for breakfast and you will be back time and time again. Very nice, warm, personable employees. Try the chocolate covered Mondel bread. You will not be disappointed. Raspberry rugelah too! I'm telling you!

Can't find too many authentic places for NY style bagels!! Upper Crust is the best in the North Shore!

If you're looking to scratch a bagel, cream cheese and lox itch, this is your place. Quick service most times I've been in - normally early morning to pick up a snack for my golf group or family breakfast. Most usual deli items available, easy parking in the weirdly marked lot behind store. Other than making bagels and bialys, it doesn't appear they're a bakery in the sense of making donuts, cakes, etc, so their TA classification should be corrected. Nor does it claim to be kosher.

I have lived in Deerfield since 1981 and I cannot remember Deerfield without this bastion of the bagel. We have been eating their bagels as long as I can remember and I do remember when they originally opened up that they advertised their location as having authentic NYC bagel making equipment. They never disappoint us and serve us well from a small location in the center of Deerfield. Bagels from Upper Crust don't ever not get eaten and they always give you freezer bags so that if you are slow on the eating, that you don't waste them. Needless to say, our bagels usually don't get to the freezer. Hit this one up for the best in local bagels and service. On a side note, the eating area is tiny and they even have outside tables. It is meant mainly for pick up and that is what we usually do.

The mini bagels are a staple and favorite in our house. The big hit his month was the rainbow ones and green ones! Never disappointed. Meats are fresh and cookies are great too!!
