I love this little deli best sandwiches and pizza in Bethesda

Little gem of a place. If you have the chance to stop in, don't pass it up. You'll regret it. The pizza is always on point, as are the take-home bake selection in the case!

Great little hidden italian gem to buy some quality legitimate Italian products at a reasonable price.

Has been our go-to spot for carry out pizza for years now. Great pies and prices, and order always ready on time after calling it in.

Great food, but service is despicable. I wanted to order a sub which maximum takes 5 minutes to prepare, but the person taking orders told me, with a very bad attitude, that they were closing in 10 minutes (it was 7.40pm). I then said that I thought they were closing at 8pm. She replied, nervously: “I KNOW WE ARE CLOSING AT 8pm, BUT WE ARE NOT TAKING ANY MORE SANDWICHES ORDERS”. I then just left to avoid any more confrontation. I could have understood that they wanted to get home after a long week (it was a Saturday), but what I am not a fan of is the disrespect. Again, this is a pity as I am true fan of the food there.

I got the spinach and cheese pizza and I can tell you this is the best pizza I have ever eaten! If you are a fan of thin crust, go enjoy! I am from out of state and plan to order a whole pizza to take back home. I also ordered the meatball sub which paled in comparison, but was also good.

I can’t decide if their best thing is the frozen stuffed pasta or their pizza which is as good as almost any I have eaten. also a very handy place. If you’re looking for specific Italian items to cook with. I have not yet tried their Italian subs with your choice of real Italian ingredients. they do not have a place to sit and eat. It’s take out only.

Had my favorite go to: Italian sandwich on fresh focacia bread with everything on it! Photos? No time for photos when I get this. You must go there!

I like pizza and I love this place. Been going for probably 20 years. My standard is the medium regular red sauce pizza with onions. It's fabulous!

I'm writing this review to plead with the people who run this place....PLEASE FIX THE BREAD SITUATION! Your subs could be so good, but unfortunately you have cold, stale bread which ruins the experience. The meat and other ingredients are amazing....FIX THE BREAD!

SUB BREADS ARE ROCK HARD… My husband and I were so excited to try this place out. We split a sub and everything about the sub was great minus the BREAD. Probably one of the most important part of sub. It was so hard we couldn’t eat it. It tore up the roof of our mouth. We looked at other reviews and other people are clearly saying the same thing. You would think they would use a softer bread or store them in a proper place to prevent them from getting hard. We were hoping this was going to be our new Italian deli/pizza shop, but after that experience we will try elsewhere. 😞

A true treasure. I think I’ve gotten about 90% of my pizza from here over the past decade. The sopresatta and mushroom is my favorite. I think the sandwiches also don’t get their due. Also a big fan of their salamis.

Love the olive oil they sell along with so many products from Italy. So good! Of course their pizza is yummy as well.

Best pizza I’ve had outside of NYC

We love love love their pizza but on too many occasions we call more than an hour before closing - only to be told they’ve turned off their ovens because they’ve decided to close early.

I have been a regular for over a decade and a half, this place is simply the best (especially now considering how much the area has changed). No explanation needed, just go there.

Just moved to the area and was excited to have a deli right around the corner! Just made my first visit and got a medium pizza with pepperoni and olives plus a canoli. OH. EM. GEE. The canoli was the best I've had, hands down. They used real ricotta for the filing and filled it all the way through! I wish I bought a dozen :) The pizza is some of the best I've had in the area and can already tell I'll be ordering again.

Well I stopped in looking for Bel Paese cheese. Billing themselves as an upscale Italian deli I figured they would have it on hand, but no luck. They have a good variety, but not what I wanted. nb, Thanks for the quick response. I'll come back the next time I'm in the area.

This place is a true gem. I grew up by the Cleveland Park location and then moved to Bethesda. This is my favorite non neopolitan pizza in the DMV, hands down. And their homemade pasta is fantastic, as are their subs. It’s also nice to support a true local family owned business.

Vace's is the BEST! We ordered a 6 foot Italian Cold Cut, pizzas, marinated mushrooms and artichokes for a meet & greet and everything was absolutely delicious! We got so many complements on the food, our guests loved it! We always make a stop at Vace's whenever we're in Bethesda!

I always get the cheese or spinach pizza they are always delicious, they also got sandwiches like meatball sub

Unfortunately, this location falls into the classic pizza trope of soggy undercooked pizza. When asking for it well done, there is only a light browning on the edges so I had to refire it myself. Staff are nice and there are many other products offered besides pizza

I’m sure the food is good, but I’m trying to see the pasta menu on my computer. It consists of a very fuzzy photo of the actual freezers in the store where the pasta is kept, and the listings above are impossible to read. I’m surprised as good a place as Vace can’t give me a readable version of the pasta menu and prices.

The white pizza with onions is really good, I also got some frozen pasta to make at home and is amazing!

Great Pizza and Subs for very fair prices. I really appreciate this Deli a lot in an overall overpriced Bethesda. The frequent stream of satisfied customers speaks for itself. If you happen to be in the area and are looking for Pizza to go or a Sub avoid Subway or Pizza& and come here!

BREAD IS EXTREMELY HARD. I was scared I was going to break a tooth trying to bite into my sub. I don’t know if this is on purpose or the bread was stale but I would pass if you want to keep your teeth.

A Italian sandwich is just soul food for me so I have had quite a few. Was a big fan of everything except I wish the bread was a bit softer. Stocked up on lots of homemade frozen goods. Rather get my frozen dinner here than support Trader Joe’s or Wholefoods

Made an order by phone, the lady who took our order was obviusly in the wrong place, Rude, Umpolite, Aggressive. She talked over my wife in so aggressive way that make the order was almost impossible. She acted in the same ways when we picked up the pizza as well. My mission now is to reach the owner and let her know how many customer she is losing because of this lady!!

I love this place. Great pizza and pasta and the deli selection is fantastic. Highly recommend.

Good pizza at a reasonable price

Hands down, the best pizza in Bethesda (and for me, in the whole DMV area!). You can get it with a tomato base or white, and in 2 sizes. Just call them, choose your favorite ingredients and they'll make the rest. Apart from their yummy pizzas (they also sell slices of onion, pepperoni) don't miss the spinach focaccias and their home made pasta and lasagna (both sold frozen and fantastic).

Everything about this place is the best and has been for 30+ years. Probably the best slice in the area. I come here for authentic parmigiano reggiano (the little dots), sweet French butter, fresh pasta, olive oil, imported prosciutto, and all the other delicious and high quality meats and cheeses. Everything in this store is high quality. You really can't go wrong. Frozen food is good but I haven't tried everything. Great spot if you want to buy your own pizza dough and make your own pizza. Owners and staff are perfect. I love coming here and make special trips here as coming to Vace makes me happy. I love my Vace trips, have for the past couple decades, and I look forward to all the future Vace trips. Never change!

Vace is like an old friend. Everything there is great. Hadn't been here for a while and stopped by to get a sub. It was great!

I have never got anything from here that wasn't great. The pizza is one of the best ever. Sandwiches are good. The pesto sauce is addictive!! Homemade pasta, walnut sauce and lunchmeat are also good. Cool employees also make every trip a great experience!!

Not much can beat a slice from VACE...unless maybe it's one of their subs, with all those yummy imported meats and cheeses on that bread! Wine selection is focused and well priced. Take home options are amazing from fresh pastas, sauces, meatballs and sausage to and endless supply of entrees. Tons of great olive oil and other groceries too!

One of the best pizza’s I have ever had. You have to try a white pizza with Fontina Cheese, meatball and onions. What’s their secret!!!

What a great pie. I have been looking in the NoVA area for great pizza. For me, this was so good. I had the cheese; and ratio of crust, cheese and sauce was perfect. This is worth going to, also picked up some frozen pasta shells and gnocchi. Definitely see why it's on the top 10 lists for the region.

Vace has fresh frozen Italian food that they make on the spot. This is a real, old style Italian deli., which sells slices of delicious pizza, subs, and the like. really not a dine-in restaurant. Fantastic, delightful fast food for the hungry if you want it. A lot of genuine Italian food items, spices, cheeses, fresh bread, and fresh dough. The real star of Vace's' are their frozen ravioli tortellini, gnocchi, and Lasagna. I don't think I have ever gone in there over the past 30 years where there has not been a steady stream of people patronizing this superb establishment. People value good food at excellent prices from an establishment I have grown to love.

Outstanding in so many ways, great fresh pasta, Italian ingredients galore, frozen readymade dishes and fabulous pizza and sandwiches - all really good. Quality gourmet grocery items and a specialty deli case are also offered. Hidden in the middle of Bethesda, hard to beat when you are seeking to satisfy your craving for anything Italian.

Pizza was good, not great like recent Post review would indicate. Not in the same league as Meno Male for example. Nice selection of house made pastas and dinners. Rating would have been higher if the counter staff had been more friendly and courteous.

Best Italian deli in Bethesda. Fantastic pizza and sandwiches. Have amazing frozen meals, fresh pastas and authentic Italian cheeses and meats. Have been going since I was a child and will continue to do so. Update 2020 - the staff has been incredibly rude the last few times I've gone. I'll be going for tortellini and not much else until that changes.

Some of the best pizza in Bethesda! Authentic, old school hand made pizza. You can't go wrong. They also have a sister location on Connecticut Ave. in the heart of Cleveland Park which is where we typically frequent. It doesn't matter which location you go to, the food tastes the same! Would highly recommend!

BLOWN AWAY! This is delicious for an easy, fresh, and well priced sandwich (get foccacia bread). They do sell beer and wine, and TONS of FRESH homemade pastas, italian dishes, charcuterie, I mean it is a foodie's dream. Don't let the facade fool you, this has some really delicious fancy pancy imports.
