why no reviews within the last year???but food and service was fantastic

Last time I was here was 12 years ago. Food was pretty good then. Maybe its what we ordered but the steak sandwich had a-lot of fat and wasn’t much thicker than a slice of bologna. The veal parmesan wasn’t breaded and the spaghetti sauce was bland . 2.95 for a salad bowl that maybe had 6 pieces of lettuce, 2 thin slices of tomatoes and 2 slices of onion is ridiculous. Our waitress was great. I think Charolette ( spelling) was her name.

As an out of state visitor, I've eaten here many times. It's a nice family restaurant with reasonable pricing. The staff is very friendly and accommodating.

50 years they've been there and still going! I met the owner today (who I learned has a wife and co-owner named "Big Stephanie"). Great conversation. This is a quiet, neighborhood, local diner. They are known for breakfast, lunch and dinner...today I had breakfast with them. Little Stephanie or "Pippy" was my server and everyone was friendly. The atmosphere was similar to a local joint that everybody is safe to go to, where senior citizens or teenagers can hang out, and the food is good. I got good vibes. The French toast was full of flavor, the eggs and the bacon were what I expected. The breakfast wasnt gourmet food but exactly what I needed and expected from a local dive. Nothing fancy but good. The portions were GREAT! The prices are GREAT! The owner told me he prioritizes keeping the prices competitive because they originally started "for the neighborhood". Notes: They don't offer a military discount but the prices are VERY fair (so you'll be ok) Good Breakfast with a lot of food Overall I recommend and will go back.

Small family owned Italia restaurant, I’ve been coming here since I was a kid and I’ve always loved it. Great food, great prices, and great service. My husband and I love to come here now, our favorites are the pizza, subs, and breakfast.

Vancostas gives me a diner vibe. The restaurant has been around a while so it explains some of the dated decor. The decor had no affect on my food or the service provided to me because both were great! Heather was our waitress and she made sure to make our first experience an awesome one! I ordered the French toast breakfast which came with a side (I got bacon) and 2 eggs (mine were scrambled with cheese). My husband ordered steak & eggs and an extra order of toast. Our total was $40 including tip. You can use card or cash!

We were highly disappointed when we brought the pizza and two orders of fries. After three years of great pizza, this one was like eating cardboard, little to none mushrooms, minimal pepperoni.. Not tasty, so two orders of fries would not feed four people. One container when taking out bag, was like container of nothing. Disappointing dinner

This is a small, locally owned restaurant that serves Italian/America fare. The service is friendly. I enjoyed the pizza and simple small salad. My grandson loved the bacon cheeseburger (loaded with real bacon). The Club Sandwich was exactly what we expected, classic version and the shrimp basket was really good, large portion. The Italian dishes are not my favorite, the sauce was heavy and almost glutinous in consistency, like a canned sauce. The desserts are fabulous (carrot cake and chocolate meringue pie!) Many entrees with sides are in the $10 range (some lower), so very inexpensive. Will the food blow you away? No. But will you get a pretty decent meal for a good price, Yes.

I was greeted at the door with a smile and welcome. I was trying to order must more than I would have been able to eat the owner took time to show me portion sizes and explained that the first order I had made had the second order in it already. The price was very reasonable and I was amazed at how fast I got my food it was carryout. Great service it will be my new breakfast and lunch place to visit . GREAT JOB VANCOSTAS

Very nice to get a like home cooked meal.

When you drive up and walk into this restaurant for the first time you may think “what have I gotten myself into”. But once we were seated and our host came by we started to understand why this place has stayed open among all the surrounding businesses closing. There food and service was nothing short of excellent and I was pleasantly surprised. Everything I tried for breakfast was well seasoned and tasted great and we will certainly be coming back

Nice locally owned restaurant. So glad this restaurant got to reopen after the change in ownership of the property. They have made a lot of improvements to the building. Very friendly staff Quick Service good food at a very affordable price, No Frills just straight to the point. Known for their Pizza and their breakfast but all the food is good where else can you get a gyro and fries for 595.

Excellent food, service, price, atmosphere, and owners!

We ate there for breakfast and it was moderately busy. The crowd looked as though they were all regulars, so it seems to be a little gem for breakfast in our area. The food came within 15 minutes of placing our order and was very affordable. For my husband and I it was $23 for the traditional platter, French toast meal and two teas. My only complaint, which really isn't a complaint is that our server could have paid more attention to our drinks. We only got one refill, which is fine but they were empty for some time and when we got the refill the server was moving so fast it spilled over and it didn't get wiped up. No big deal, we cleaned it up and finished our meal. Servers seemed more attentive to the regulars and conversating. All in all we would go again and be happy!

Vancostas is one of those places where everyone knows everyone making it alot of fun to see. The food is made fresh and service is friendly and fast. Prices are in my opinion fantastic.

Glad vancostas was able to reopen even if the menu seemed reduced from their previous offerings. Still great food at very inexpensive pricing. Basic diner food without the hyped up pricing at the new diners.

Such a relaxed atmosphere. Just laid back and comfortable all around. Food is great, extremely inexpensive, and the staff are phenomenal.

Re-opened under the same family management. Historically they were reasonably good. Not fantastic, just good basic Greek and Italian food. We ordered a salad and double pepperoni pizza. The salad was fine. The pizza came and the pepperoni was quite sparse. I called them on this and their response was simply to not charge me for the double pepperoni. There was another table where they apparently also screwed up the order. I had no dispute with the quality of the food, but their response to their own error was underwhelming. They did not deny the error, but their only response was to charge me for what they actually made. They did not offer to remake it nor did they reduce the charge significantly.

A group of friends meet here every Monday morning for breakfast and it never disappoints!

My family and I went to Vancostas after a friend recommended it to us. It was absolutely disgusting. I ordered chicken Parmesan, there was absolutely no flavor, they gave it to me with grilled chicken which was suggested by the server, the chicken was so dry I could barely chew it. The sauce on the pasta tasted like it came straight out of a can only to over cooked noodles. My husband ordered a chicken Philly cheese steak, when he received it, it was cold and there were 2 squares of old cold melted cheese on top. My son got cheese fries that had the same piece of melted cheese on top that looked like it came straight out of the microwave. This place needs to be shut down again, there’s no point in it being open if they’re serving food of this magnitude. Absolutely disgusting, DO NOT GO!

So glad they’re open again ! Staff is friendly as ever. Food was delicious. Could use some remodeling, refreshing & decor updates an lighting but all in all great service.

we ordered double pepperoni pizza. Looked like single, we said something and was only charged for single.

Went for breakfast with about 16 other people. The food came out pretty quickly for such a large group. Everything tasted great. I had the Italian omelette with homestyle potatoes and pancakes. A great spot for breakfast and I hear their lunch and dinner are also just as good. Also, the prices are fantastic.

No update on menus/pictures for 6 years, how can you know the prices?

Unfortunately and like anything nice in Denbigh: Vancostas announced that they were closing about a month ago. It’s closed now.

Always enjoy eating here. Lasagna very good.

9/4/2017 An OK dinner type restaurant. I ordered the 12oz steak (medium) with steak fries and a salad. Portions were smallish but in line with the price. Steak was well done (not medium). Grandchildren split an individual (10inch) pizza. They liked it. My daughter and son in law had breakfast - eggs and steak. They ordered their steaks medium rare. Unless you like your steak well done I recommend ordering medium rear (I wish I had). I had a slice of the grandkids pizza. It was OK, nothing to write home about. Prices were reasonable five meals (4 adults and one that two children split) was $51.00.

Vancostas is a nice place to have a good hearty meal without breaking the bank. The staff is very friendly.

Not very appealing. The inside smells like kerosene. I left as soon as I stepped in the door.

The food was great! Better than IHOP and Shortys! Same price as McDonalds but soooo much better! I will return.

Oh my, not sure how this place has a 4+rating. Only good thing are the prices, my roast beef looked to be days old and not tasty, bathrooms appeared to have not been cleaned in days. Not recommended...

When i was there for lunch i found 2 hairs in my steak and my mashed potatoes were dry and it was definitely not good

Home fries and onions where cold

Many things have changed since Covid. Most people understand that... However the food quality and even the service has began to suffer at times. That's a shame because this is a really good restaurant. I brought some friends here the other day, raving to them about how great the food is and we were highly disappointed by what came out. Mentioned it to the server and still nothing was done about it. Probably won't go back there for lunch again. The few times I've been there for breakfast lately it's been still pretty solid.

It took us forever to go to this place because of what it looks like from the outside. I am hoping someone from management will read this, as my family said they will not be going back because of some of the issues. I absolutely loved the food and service. My DD ordered the country fried steak breakfast and I ordered the ribeye breakfast. Both very well cooked and tasty. The price is outstanding. The waitress an elderly lady was slow but accurate and friendly. Here is our issue you walk on the floor and you literally stick to the 100 year old carpet. It is that dirty and gross. The awning over the cashier is so thick with dust someone wrote on the dust and it was never cleaned. They are in NEED of a Makeover like no ones business. I hope they at least clean the floors and awnings. I don't want to think about what is going on behind the scenes. Give them a try and see for your self.

We loved to go for breakfast every Sunday. I love our waitress Charlotte. She treats us like family. The food is good but the service is the best!

One of the old time restaurants around. Lots of local people frequent it. Food is good. They could use a major cleaning for the restroom. The smell takes away from the visit. It's an old place, I understand, but a bathroom is a big issue for a restaurant.

My family (Mom, and 2 brothers) go for breakfast every Sunday and their favorite waitress, Heather, treats them like royalty. We joined them this week and all the food and coffee was delish. Great service as always. You can't beat the price!

We were looking for a good breakfast place that wasn't the typical dennys or McDonald's. Supporting local businesses right now is important. We came in and the atmosphere is welcoming. The staff is friendly and the prices are very reasonable. The food tastes great as well! We will be returning.
