Wow. I mean, wow. Expensive as ALL get out, but...wow. Great atmosphere, awesome live piano music, fantastic wait staff and excellent food. John was our waiter and he made our evening phenomenal. Definitely worth an evening.

Not just dinner but an experience to not forget. Would highly recommend to anyone who likes delicious food and a unique experience.

We were text a password to get in. You are greeted by a bouncer with a bat and New York accent letting you know what will happen if you step out of line. We had the four course Anniversary Dinner. Dinner, service, light music in the background made for a wonderful time and memory. We will definitely be back.

Excellent. Cool guy at the front door who plays his roll more than well. Classy, relaxed, almost european, ambiance. Not like most US restaurants which are bright and have TVs on the walls. Also the AC cooling was pleasant, not too cold like in many other places. Steak and side dishes were all excellent. Very friendly waitress and also a good bar manager, who has an eye on the customers and exchanges an empty drink, if necessary.

The staff are very professional, and the cuisine is expertly prepared. We both had the filet and it was perfect medium rare. If you haven’t been there, you owe it to yourself to go, capice?

The scallops were cooked to perfection. And the flourless chocolate cake was wonderful!

Service, food was all AMAZING!!! Was our first time there and it was a great experience. All staff were very attentive and on top of their service!! That filet menon was sooo good!!! All around worth the vist hope to go back soon!!!

Great experience and great service definetly, no doubt about it. However not amazed by the food. Started with a cold lobster bisque, watery taste and not much too it. Wife had an "onion soup" which is nothing special, cold too and tasted like a soup of a can Ordered prime rib and it was OK, wife ordered the pork chop and was cooked too much, kinda dry and not much flavor. Place is great but we didn't have the food experience we were expecting. Dessert took more than 30min to arrive

From the moment you knock on the door, you're transported to another era. We've visited Vernon’s many times and are consistently impressed. The food is exceptional, and the ambiance creates a perfect atmosphere. Be sure to try the steak-wrapped asparagus as an appetizer and definitely save room for dessert. If you’re planning a night out and want fantastic food and a memorable experience, I highly recommend Vernon’s!

In my experience, restaurants with gimmicks typically aren't that good, so my expectations were low for Vernon's. My assumption was so, so wrong. Went here for an anniversary date with my partner and I was blown away by the food, drinks, service, and atmosphere. Yes, the bouncer was a little cheesy but our waitress was so attentive and professional. The cocktails were awesome and the food was great too. I've had inferior fine dining experiences in ABQ for way more money. We even got a complimentary dessert for our anniversary; I can't remember the last time I went to a nice restaurant that did that. Lastly, I loved the live jazz and can't wait to come back and sit in the club area to enjoy it more. Thanks for exceeding my expectations.

I didn't know what to expect when I got there and knocked on the door. It was all a part of the experience. My date and I had a memorable experience.

I’m from out of town and for being a party of one it was truly a great experience from getting the password, to entering and finally sitting down to eat. The steak was cooked right, the service was phenomenal and the lobster tail was cooked the way it should be. I wish I had my wife with me this is definitely a great date night.

We were a group of 4. We ordered two appetizers and a bottle of wine to start. When it was time to order a meal, we ordered a Steak ($92), Prime Rib ($56), Shrimp Scampi (70ish). The 4th person ordered Lobster Bisque. She was told that it was required to order a meal. The server offered to see if she could get an approval to override the requirement. In the end she had her pay $10 and do a split plate with another person. It felt a bit rude, tacky, or lacking in hospitality to me. I could tell our friend felt embarrassed or upset, but she had eaten plenty of appetizer and had planned to have dessert and wanted the soup. It made it feel like we did not belong. I could see if we were not ordering anything. We even got 3 desserts, coffees, and after dinner amaro. So it wasn’t about the money. I didn’t care for the crab cakes. The misto appetizer was a lot of food. The ribeye was the best meal. The shrimp scampi was good. I would pass on the prime rib. I didn’t care for it. I have had better at other local places. The brussel sprouts were awful. They seemed just steamed or boiled. No flavor or spice or anything special. We didn’t finish them. The mashed potatoes were average. We have been to Vernon’s before. It has a fun interior with jazz music. It is dark but they now have new lights you can adjust at your table which is nice. The service was very slow. It took us 4 hours to get through our service because of the lag between appetizers, entrees, and desserts. We like to eat at nice restaurants monthly together. The last was 4940 in Corrales. I like to give feedback in hopes it is helpful to others. I don’t think it is a place we will go back to for a long time. It is unfortunate. The food just wasn’t up to the price point in quality, service slow, and underwhelming.

Unfortunately I gather a lot more atmosphere and decent food for the 400.00 tab for this evening brie was yummy lobster bisque cold x2 not tasty, steak served medium when I ordered medium rare. Reservation started 730 actually recieved main course after 9. Ridiculous slow service. I will not visit Vernon's sgain

Treated like royalty- consistently great experience. We had five in our party and the wait staff was accommodating to all. Love the greeting at the front door 😎. Best in town for a night out with friends. I’ll be back.

We had heard wonderful things about the restaurant and decided to drive down from Santa Fe to celebrate a very special birthday. Our experience surpassed our high expectations.

Hands down the BEST experience we have ever had! We went for our anniversary and every single person told us happy anniversary. Our server John even bought us a dessert. The atmosphere was very cozy and each table was private and surrounded by its own curtains. Portion size was impressive and drinks were delicious. What an incredible experience! We will definitely be coming back.

I ended my day with fine dining and hearing a pianists right in front of my table. This has to be one of my top fine dining experiences and the food was amazing! I had jalapeño infused, smoky, cocktail. Followed by swordfish, cream corn, and apargus. The coffee was paired with an in-house dessert, Creme brûlée! The pianist played my favorite instrumental song : Clair de lune, the third segment in Suite bergamasque, a four-movement composition for piano by French composer Claude Debussy, begun in 1890 and revised and published in 1905.

Top three establishment I have ever been to from knocking on the door and getting greeted by the goombah when you walk in to the service from your server that was top notch thanks to Joshua and the entertainment provided by this fine establishment. Will be returning soon for another wonderful one of a kind experience that is worth every penny. Save room for their dessert cause they have a vast selection. So good forgot to picture. Next time. Got the prime rib and it is going to taste better than it looks. Wife got the boneless ribeye and she was giving the two thumbs up. Got the sautéed mushrooms for a starter and they went down faster then wife could drink her house special. Desert was a cheese cake that was also better than it looked. Thanks to all the staff that made my wife's birthday dinner one she will always remember. Love the V in the ice!!!

Great experience!! Loved the character at the front door (capiche? :) ), love the slow walk through the restaurant to our table, love the food, love our man Giuseppe, who recommended the perfect wine for the perfectly cooked prime rib. loved the music (Calvin Appleberry on piano). well worth the price. More than a meal. It’s an Experience.

What an amazing place, we loved the environment and the food..

WOW! This is a real treat, especially if you got a substantial gift card from your kids! My wife and I really enjoyed our experience here, from the moment we made our reservation to the time we spent in their small exit gift shop! Our server, Emily, was probably the most competent, friendly and knowledgeable server we've ever had for dinner. The food is simply mah-vuh-lous! The venue is cozy, although the building is deceptively large. There seem to be lots of small, intimate spaces. They have a bar area as well. The "speakeasy" theme extends to outdoor signage that simply says "LIQUORS!" If you don't know where it is, you'll probably miss it. When you make your reservation, they send you a password that you must use when you knock on the door. Cute! We loved it! (Susanne loved the pork chops, not listed below)

Amazing Birthday Celebration! This speakeasy was the perfect spot for my bf’s birthday celebration! The music was fantastic, creating a lively and fun atmosphere. My husband and I celebrated our 20th anniversary at Vernon's. It was out first visit, and lived up to everything we'd heard. The service was exceptional, the food was delicious, and our waitress helped make our anniversary special.

I sent my hubby and his best friend to the whisky and bourbon tasting and they loved it!

We have our Anniversary dinner here every year and it did not taste like it had in the past ten years. Our prime rib was too rare and under seasoned. We would always get a complimentry dessert which was not offered. Very disappointing.

I went to Vernon’s for my birthday. It was a wonderful experience that I will always remember. The food was beyond delicious. My sirloin steak melted in my mouth. I received a complimentary birthday dessert which was a peach Bundt cake with whipped cream and a candle in it, and it was scrumptious. The staff was friendly and attentive. The opening warnings were quite funny and made for a great memory. I didn’t get in any trouble while I was there. I did not have to get hit with the baseball bat!

We absolutely loved the whole experience. This wasn't just a dinner at a nice restaurant, it's a whole experience! The food was incredibly delicious and plentiful . Every bite was mouth watering. My only regret was I had no room for desert which also sounded incredible. The service was fantastic as well. 10/10 would recommend to anyone

What a disappointment!! We talked about going here for months and finally went for our anniversary dinner. While a rib eye should be well marbled, ours was much too grisly. Also aside for the topping I got, the steak was bland, I've had better at The Longhorn. Mashed potatoes also bland, flavorless. Only the carrots that came with dinner and the French Onion soup were good. For what the meal cost, almost criminal!!

Such a fun and unique experience! Sat in the Black Diamond Lounge and enjoyed beautiful music, delicious cocktails and amazing steak. Capped the night off by getting a bottle of hard to find whisky from their new bottle shop which is a fun addition to the space.

We have been coming to Vernon from another city for years, for anniversary. We started coming five years ago. The food was wonderful wonderful! Last night, my “aged ribeye“ was tough and stringy and gristle. The worst ribeye I have ever had. The service started great, with the waitress at placing us in the lounge area. She took about 20 minutes to take our order. She was very polite and apologetic. Once she took her order, she didn’t write anything down. She came back 15 minutes later And apologized that the computer glitched and they lost our order. We were served an hour and a half later. I was served the above grizzly aged ribeye. The lounge at Vernon is very cozy and a great place to bring a date.

We were there to celebrate my husband’s birthday. The service is wonderful and they really stick to the theme with the atmosphere that they provide. It’s definitely a fine dining experience! The drinks were beautifully crafted, but they took a LONG time to bring us our drinks. We both had steaks cooked medium rare and they were cooked to perfection. The truffle mashed potatoes were so creamy and delicious. I had the French onion soup which was so flavorful and not overly salty, it was a highlight for me. However, my husband got the steak and half lobster tail — the lobster was overcooked and very dry. Overall, cool experience and again the steaks were very delicious.

Our steaks were overcooked, and the cost of the meal was not worth it. Way too expensive for what it was.

Enjoyed a lovely dinner. Very fun atmosphere.

Upon entering, Joey dropped the bat which almost hit my friend on her foot. He did not apologize, but instead said, "that's the second time I did that" When we were seated, I asked for a dessert menu and I got a response, "you mean you're only here for dessert" I said, no I'm not, I like to have my dessert first. It seemed as if after the waitress found out we were not having alcohol beverages, she left us alone too long between checking on us. I had prime rib, medium rare with truffle mashed potatoes. My prime rib was overcooked and my potatoes were cold. I did not send it back because we had waited long enough. We were there for 2 hours and got offered one refill of our drinks. The table in the back corner next to us, was extremely loud, not their waiter, but a different waiter was participating in it. I still tipped 20%. I have no desire on returning to your establishment.

Oof… wanted to have a nice date night. Love speakeasies when they are done well - The Wicked Rabbit in Omaha, NE is one of those. This, unfortunately, missed the mark by quite a lot for me. THE GOOD: 1) The jazz band was incredible. 2) The waitress was very friendly. 3) We had the salmon and the shrimp scampi for entrees. Both were good. Wouldn’t say above and beyond, but they were good. THE BAD: 1) Had to confirm my reservation three times including multiple back-and-forth texts just to get the password in the first place. 2) Had to have multiple back-and-forth texts just to be allowed to knock. I knocked and said the correct password multiple times and the front door guy still didn’t let me in. Had to text them multiple times about why and they kept saying ‘just do it again.’ Finally was let in and the guy said he thought the ‘other guy’ was okay - alluding that he didn’t like me. Not once was I disrespectful or rude in any way. 3) The lobster bisque was probably one of the worst I’ve ever had. 4) The service was slow even though it was not packed at all. For example, they smoked my old fashioned and then let it sit at the bar for 15 minutes before giving it to me, completely ruining the point of a smoked old fashioned. 5) Food and drinks were just okay. Nothing tasted like it should be priced that high. If I’m paying that much for an experience, my expectations rise too. 6) Outside of the band, the ambiance was just not there. Felt more like a last-minute high school social themed to a speakeasy. Overall, very disappointed in the time and money spent. Was really looking forward to this.

We made a reservation and it was all excellent. The host communicated when we should knock and give our password to enter. (Speakeasy vibe). There was live music, amazing steak (we went on a Saturday evening and they had ran out of one dry aged ribeye already), great cocktails. They don't allow children under I believe the age of 6 or 7. They encourage a business casual attire but there were a few folks in shirts and jeans. Perfect place for a date night. It was expensive but worth it.

Fantastic food and wonderful service. It's a bit on the pricey side so you may want to wait for a special occasion but I highly recommend this restaurant.

Well, one word, “perfection!” Steak was perfect as always, service was excellent! We had some friends from out of town and they loved it! Got a kick out of the speakeasy.

Best steak and Mac and cheese I've ever had.

The food, the atmosphere, the service; everything is absolutely exceptional every single time. The steaks are always seasoned and cooked perfectly, and the butter that comes with them just makes it melt in your mouth. We got the cinnamon roll bread pudding for dessert and I was literally in heaven. The servers are attentive but not imposing, so it's nice to have that privacy aspect. 10/10 would definitely recommend going here. Always an amazing and fun experience, perfect for date night.

The character that met is at the door was fun and fitting the speakeasy atmosphere but that was the end of the "show". The food was good but quite expensive - over $400 for the four of us without appetizers or dessert. If you are looking for something different, it would be worth checking out.

We have so much fun here and it's so relaxing. It's our go to Saturday night date place. Everything about Vernon's is 5 star!

We went for Mothers Day brunch. Inner restraunt has decor for a nighttime atmosphere. I've been there at night, and it's such a vibe ♡. They were pretty busy, so they were not as attentive but still checked on us. Omlete was good but nothing to brag about . Egg over steak was cold. And the waffle 🧇 was delicious. We have been there on several occasions. Brunch and dinner. This wasn't the best visit, but I would definitely still go back. Just not on a busy day.

Advertised as Vernon's Speakeasy, but was sat in their 6855 Cafe for the Cinco de Mayo dinner. C'mon Vernon's you can do better. Atmosphere sucked. The tension inthe room, was REAL. Not very happy patrons. Food was excellent. Service was superb. Portions were small for the price. Plating was slow. We made the best of it, as we always do.

We went a few agos in 2021 to celebrate our first anniversary. It was mind blowing we came to celebrate our engagement last night. The service was just okay, she asked every other table what they were celebrating but not us so that was disappointing. The removal of the New York strip was also sad because that was literally the reason we were there. My partner settled for the prime rib which was about 85% fat so i traded her with my plate so she could enjoy her food. Overall we just left feeling like our engagement dinner was not special at all. the intro was prob the only thing that made our night. Unfortunately may be our last time here. It just felt like another dinner we had much higher expectations as we were celebrating an engagement… Also our photo had the wrong date which sucks cuz it’s not 2021… someone should fix that too

I’m open to changing this review if someone would reach out and provide an explanation for why, as good paying regulars, we were rejected from renewing our VIP membership. We were regulars until shortly after my wife gave birth in spring 2021. We were so impressed with everything about Vernon’s that we joined their VIP club right after restaurants started opening after COVID. We truly felt like we found our spot. Once we saw a couple with a stroller in there and asked about it. We were told there was actually an age limit which we had no complaints about. This is a classy place and babies don’t exactly fit it, I get it. After time passed and our kid was able to be babysat so we could go out again, I reached out to renew our VIP membership and got crickets. I followed up via phone and text and there was no response. My wife got frustrated and spoke with different people on the phone who assured her the management would call back, but nothing. It seems as though us being temporarily absent, or the inquiry about kids being allowed, was enough to no longer be considered valuable customers. My wife and I tried to reach out continuously for over 3 and half years with absolutely no follow up for their team. This place was magical for us, but if you’re a parent, you apparently get kicked out of the club no matter how many times you regularly went before. Again, if someone on the VIP team had the confidence to reach out to me or my wife (our numbers are the same as when we signed up, you have them) and bury the hatchet, I’m open to revising my review back to the 5 star version it once was.

From the moment we made the reservation to the end of dinner was such a pleasant experience! Making the reservation was easy and straightforward from cost to menu I felt comfortable and heard! The food was incredible and perfectly cooked for all our guests and the service was the best we’ve had from anywhere! We would absolutely recommend Vernon’s, it’s an incredible experience to share with family and friends! 20 out of 10 would definitely recommend!

We have eaten at Vernons many times and have always enjoyed our time there. The food is outstanding and we have never had anything less than stellar service. Every time that we are in ABQ, Vernon's is always high on our to-do list. Our last time here however, we noticed that while there is a dress code, it was clearly not enforced. People in shorts and flip flops, tank tops and halter tops. Now, there is nothing wrong with being comfortable, but you can be comfortable at Olive Garden. If a place is going to have a dress code to provide an experience, it would be nice to have it enforced.

Great place, nice atmosphere, steak was excellent

This place is excellent. Me and my date both had fillet. The som knows wine and loves to have a conversation about wine. If I had to say anything bad, it would be that the plates need to warmed. But an excellent experience with excitement food and service.

5 stars to their Staff, the band, the food, the atmosphere and their steak and truffle mash potatoes was delicious but my friend pointed out that they needed to serve the food on hot plates; Brilliant!

Service? Great. Atmosphere? Great. Food? Not very good. Most food was either over or under cooked, swimming in oil, or swimming in cheese. Place just isn't for me. I won't be back for anything more than cocktails with visitors/tourists and won't be making any recommendations for anything more. ... Google asked what food I would recommend? I wouldn't recommend anything I had. The bisque was swimming in oil, the risotto was undercooked, lobster - overcooked. Seems like people like the steak - but that's the easiest thing to make.

Outstanding service! Warm, cozy ambiance. But the rib eye was awful; half of it was gristle. I ate what I could and took the rest home for my dog.

We came here for the first time for my wifes birthday after hearing about this place from others in town as to how good the food was and how cool this place was. I loved the chocolate cake desert, meal was good or so we thought ... More on that in a minute. Atmosphere was fun, service was good, and cocktails were good. I had the prime rib not the best prime rib but not terrible with french onion soup. Wife had mussels and pork chop. Left the restaurant and within a couple hours my wife was very ill from apparent food poisoning. Something wasn't either fresh or cooked correctly. Sent a message to the restaurant and only got a sorry to hear that. With no offer of another meal on them to make it up for getting us sick.... Spent $260 all said and done on the visit and not a great first impression... May be a while before we revisit after that this experience especially when we really enjoy CAMPO in the same part of town and have been there 3-4 times with no food poisoning issues and an equally good atmosphere and service.
