Typically I'm a bit slow to review, but I had to make an exception here. I recently went to Wally's Cafe with some friends for lunch, and we were very impressed. I ordered the chicken pomegranate plate, which was recommended by fellow reviewers, and I'm glad I followed suit. The chicken was tangy and flavorful, complemented by the pilaf and rice. My friends like the beef and lamb gyro, too. The portions were reasonable for the price. As good as the food was, the service was even better. The staff is extremely friendly and generous, providing complimentary lentil soup while we were ordering the entrees and some lovely pieces of baklava (also free) once we were ready to pay. They kindly answered our questions and made requested adjustments. When walking in, I noticed the "3-time Yelp Top 100" proclamation, but I still wanted to be fair in my judgment. But now I can see how they earned it.

Definitely a hidden gem, it’s a bit hard to find but it’s right behind a bar. 10/10 recommend the pomegranate chicken plate, it comes served on a bed of rice with a side salad, tzatziki & garlic sauce with pita. They gave us water immediately after being seated and lentil soup. After the meal we received baklava which I believe is made in house and was actually outstanding, delicious buttery flavor and not too sweet.

Wally's is good always. Burgers 🍔 are very good. The Shrimp Sharnwa plate is my all time favorite

This is my favorite Mediterranean restaurant in the Bay Area! I am pescetarian so I usually get either the falafel plate or the combo plate with falafel and shrimp. Plates come with salad, lentil soup, and a piece of baklava - truly a great value, usually lasts me 2-3 meals. Seating inside is limited so we usually get takeout (plus if you order online you can use credit card, whereas ordering in the restaurant is cash only). The food is so delicious - the lentil soup is a must have for me! I also am a big fan of getting an extra side of hummus or babaganoush + some extra pitas for the next day.

Hole in the wall Mediterranean cage tucked behind a bar. Enter around the right side of the building, or through the bar if it's open. Simple and unpretentious food and environment, with old school seating around a counter and a few outside tables. Large flavorful portions If you're friendly, they may give you soup before and baklava after!

This tiny hole in the wall restaurant is a pleasant surprise. It's in the back of an old bank with a classic diner style counter service. The artwork is pretty but the place is a little lacking for space so it's a bit cluttered. However it's very charming. The food is amazing. The beef/lamb gyro is full of flavor and the falafel is incredibly crisp and soft at the same time. The service is wonderful. The staff are incredibly friendly. But what makes this place stand out is the experience. As soon as you sit down you get a tasty lentil soup. As you get ready to leave you get a lovely flaky baklava. I wish I lived nearby to enjoy this wonderful place.

No frills, just damn good food. Service is fantastic. There’s karaoke at the bar some nights. Best Gyro I have had in my life.

We ordered catering to a 30 person event in Lafayette, and Wally's was on top of it every step of the way. They walked us through the right amount of food to order, were patient through a couple plan changes, and updated us step by step on the status of the food delivery. Everything showed up right on time, and the guests were thrilled with the meal. Would hire many more times! Thanks, Wally's!

The food is good I have ordered delivery 3 times but they igmore my request: NO. SOUP AND NO SALAD. The salad is okay but I do not like the dressing next time I would like it without dressing, I will put my own.

This place is a trip! Good food, nostalgic setting, friendly service and great prices. It's worth the effort to find (behind the bar in the old bank, walk past the dumpsters to the side entrance.

As always the food and service is amazing. This time we had the pomegranate chicken and the falafel plate. The salad is so flavorful, the hummus delectable, and the falafels crispy and yummy! This place is great. We always get the rice platters to go. They are on the pricier side, but that's only because they include a full meal with salad, soup, and dessert as part of the price; all of which are very delicious. If you factor that in, the price is worth it. The only (minor) issue I have is the location. It was originally pretty hard to find. For pickup, it's hard to find a place to stop since it's on busy street.

This little cafe was a great find! I can see why it has been voted of of the top 100 restaurants in America. I ordered the Pomegranate Chicken which had such a unique flavor which left your mouth bursting with flavor. It was tangy yet sweet with a savory aftertaste. I also tried the shrimp plate which was perfectly cooked with the right amount of spices that leaves you wanting more. The staff was extremely generous and gave us a serving of the Labeh to try after we were unsure if we would like it. To top it off, they gave us some baklava to try which had the perfect amount of sugar so you could actually taste the flavors. It wasn't just packed with a sugary punch. I would recommend this place to everyone and I will definitely be returning!

So glad I came here. Plenty of parking at Safeway. Walked directly across the street into the alley to find this hole in the wall gem. Was immediately given a lentil soup and water as soon as I sat down. Ordered a steak burrito which was massive. All delicious food. Low key vibes. Not busy at all. Cash only. ATM available in the restaurant. Nice people working there.

We've ascended to the next level. Z is running around serving people but he finally manages to get you a complimentary bowl of freshly brewed lentil soup, I could've frankly had 4 bowls of that for dinner itself and dipped. Couldn't chose one dish so I snagged an entire vegetarian platter, not a bad bite was had. Falafel was freshly fried with delightfully vibrant green insides. Baba ghanouj was curried perfectly well (I could tell coz I can't stand eggplant and I finished every morsel of it), the hummus was irresistible, the tabouleh the freshest accompaniment. My date had the chicken shawerma and I could see why that's a local's favorite. Combined with their rice, each bite was an experience, the culinary journey the cooks and that kitchen must has gone through to enrich the dish so deeply is remarkable, combined with the depth of flavor in Mediterranean cuisine reflecting millennia of evolution. Their tzatziki and yogurts went along with everything well too. The hole in the wall nature just adds to the experience.

I'm so glad this restaurant has survived through the pandemic - they are one of my absolute favorite spots for Mediterranean food! The location can be a little tricky to find, but just follow the flags and you'll find your way there. The staff are really like no other. The prices are a tad on the higher end for some dishes, but the quality and portions are well worth it!

What a gem! The best falafel in the Bay Area. Just as it ought to be. Crispy on the outside and gooey on the inside. The dolma was exquisitely made and served warm. Will definitely come back

This place is amazing! Walked in on a rainy day and was greeted with a warm smile, a friendly hello, and a tasty complimentary bowl of lentil soup. The place is small and can maybe sit 15, but it is really cozy and nice. Some, if not the best falafel I’ve ever had. Moist and perfectly cooked. I got the falafel wrap and my partner had the chicken shawarma wrap. Both delicious. The meal ended with a complimentary treat too :) amazing service. Will be back! Note: they are cash only but do have an atm inside.

Our server recommended the pomegranate chicken and it was so delicious. A hint of sweet with the normal savory you’re looking for from Lebanese food. Portion was huge so we were glad we shared and you get a complimentary soup and baklava with your order! Server was very nice and funny. Fun experience overall and we’ll definitely be going back

In technically what could be called a "hole in the wall" spot, quietly exists some of the very best Lebanese food in the Bay area. I slept on this place for a number of years, but was asked by a friend to review it, and I was happy I did. Delicious Lebanese food, in the easy going greasy spoon environment, with a super laid back and friendly staff, make for one happy Middle Eastern food experience. I ordered the beef shawarma wrap, which comes with fries, some lentil soup, (absolutely killer), and a piece of baklava at the end of the meal, (homemade. Not the decent but standard fair that Jerusalem bakery serves to most of the Middle Eastern restaurants in the East Bay. No slight on Jerusalem bakery, but you can't mess with Grandma) One of my special delights here was the fact that they make "Toum", Lebanese garlic and lemon sauce made with safflower oil and has a consistency of mayonnaise. It is to die for. The beef shawarma in the wrap had a deliciously complex flavor of marinated beef, and was served at my request with some of the garlic sauce in the wrap itself, and some tahini sauce which I will ask them to skip next time. It was deliciously put together and perfectly wrapped. The fries were crispy golden delicious, and tossed in a very light dusting of salt. The homemade baklava with crispy, and buttery, and just had all the things you associate with delicious homemade baklava. I cannot recommend this place highly enough, you may have to look for a minute before you find it is right next door to the old bank on San Pablo avenue at 3009, between 40th and Adeline Street. You'll have to come down Adeline and make a hard ride on the San Pablo or go down San Pablo and make a U-Turn at Adeline. I'm super happy I found this place, and I will definitely be back for more. Next: Gyros. Bonus round: I got all this food for just over 20 bucks plus a tip. This is probably the best deal on Middle Eastern food in the Bay area that I have found so far. Piero

Just ordered here for the first time. Heard about it from a friend who lives in Santa Cruz of all places! Absolutely DELICIOUS food and really great value for the money. The complimentary lentil soup and baklava was so unexpected but welcome. It really rounded out the meal. We had lamb and beef wrap with onion rings and the kafta roll with fries. Service for pickup was very friendly. Will come back again! PS: I think I might need the recipe for the soup.
