Seafood shack. Not a lot of seafood options. Service was very casual so don't be in a hurry.

Not wanting to drive along I-95 from Yale for some lobster roll & seafood, we decided to come to Westville. Menu sounded exciting, but once served and tasted everything was a big disappointment. Our order of Belly Clams Platter had fried hair sticking out from a piece of clam. The platter was replaced. Quality and taste-wise, the taste of fresh clams was hardly there, there was so much wet batter inside as you bite into a piece. Fries had no potato taste to it at all. Calamari too tasted like flavoless batter. Lobster was dry and overcooked m, more like leftover heated up. Even the coleslaw had a funny taste of some off-sauce that must have dripped into the mix. Regret choosing this as a practical stop on our drive back to NY from the Yale museums. The extra drive time to lobster shacks along the I-95 corridor would have been the smarter choice. Not going back to this restaurant nor would recommend this spot to anyone.

I've ordered from Westville Seafood via Uber Eats from this restaurant. My food was always fresh, hot, and delicious when it was delivered. I love their fried shrimp, and I also ordered a steak and cheese sub with mushrooms and grilled onions, which was also amazing. Order from them, you won't be disappointed 😋.

The worst whole belly fried clams I ever had they were so tiny like baby clams I'll never go there again I'll go to damatos up the road there the best everyday and worth the waiting . I should have known better when no customers were in their big red flags and the workers had so much time to be on their cell phone fooling around . Saving money and do not go over there go to the other place up the road d'amato's seafood if you don't want to go there go to Burger King and get a fish sandwich you're still better off not going to westville seafood I don't think the owner would even eat here and maybe the cook doesn't even eat what do he cook

Westville is a go to place for seafood, especially their lobster sandwiches. Plentiful amount of lobster on a lightly toasted roll ( I think it is sour dough).

The food was great and the pricing was very fair.

So disappointed, I used to support a lot. Box of whiting, pieces of fish so tiny, I think they are cutting the pieces in threes, not enough to share, won't go back.

Our first visit was Sunday in January 2024 for lunch. We ordered a fish and chips dinner and a fish sandwich. The order came up quick and hot. The staff was very friendly to us. We really enjoyed the meal. Came back at the end of April and it was still great.

The service was fantastic Ty who was working the counter was extremely friendly and welcoming. My son is on the Autism Spectrum she was very patient with him we will definitely come again. The food was also delicious.

Great little place for fried seafood and hot dogs. You can get 2 foot long HUMMEL hotdogs with fries, a drink and Cole slaw for $12. That’s about about $7 cheaper than Frankie’s and these hot dogs are grilled over flames instead of fried. They have a seafood platter for $30 and for an extra $5 you can switch from clam strips to whole bellies which is what I did and was totally worth the extra $5. There were so many whole bellies, it was ridiculous. The fried shrimp are cooked perfectly and the scallops are super flavorful and juicy albeit just a teeny bit too salty. The fish was cooked really well too although that’s not really my thing but I will say the breading on it was thin, crispy and delicious. The staff was incredibly friendly and answered all of my annoying questions with no problem at all. And one of the best things, free refills on the soda. Really, the only “complaint” I have about this place is that I wish the tartar sauce was more “relishy”. Can’t wait to try the burger. :)

Was in the mood for some seafood and decided to check this spot out. I ordered some fried shrimp and clam strips. When I got in the car I planned to just try a few clams..... 15 minutes later I ate everything before I got home 😂. I will definitely be coming back to support this establishment

I was so surprised by how much I loved this place. Staff is super nice and friendly and the food is fresh and delicious. I'm not a seafood person but I got the lobster and it was the best thing I've had all month

Purchased a fried shrimp platter late Tuesday, 12/19/23 evening and the grease was old, there was no taste to the shrimp, grease on the roof of the mouth, and the Shrimp not deveined.

Me and my husband went here for lunch yesterday ,best clam strips I have ever had soft tender nice he had the lobster roll which I tasted was omg outta this world definitely will go back

Westville seafood has good fish and chips. I appreciate a lightly seasoned fillet of fish, where i can taste the fish and not the season that should complement it. So kudos for that. The fries are crunchy. However, the one thing that took the best taste was the coleslaw. Wow! I am not a coleslaw guy. I tried the portion that came with my meal and i devoured the whole thing. I need to learn that recipe.

My husband and I stopped for lunch. Very clean, friendly, fast service and great tasting food.

People of New Haven please stop supporting this business. I ordered seafood platter basket at $30.00 listed a scallops ,shrimps fries coleslaw and pieces of fish. This was the most rip off dissappointment I've have had in ages. They gave me a Styrofoam container that would hold one person's meal with a few fries ,4 shrimp ,3 of two of the absolutely smallest pieces of whiting and a small amount of the tiniest scallops. This is the worst . This was not enough to even feed one person. This was by far a rip off. Please do not support this business please go to Dematteos or Kevin's seafood where they serve their community seafood with respect. It wasn't seasoned properly there was like a lot of powdered seasoning thrown on it ....no love in the mix none at all. Please allow someone else to take over. It can't be no worse than this experience. This was blatant disrespect in your face. I had to spend extra money that I didn't want to give them just to get one Xtra styrofoam to feed 3 people for the night. I've brought Dematteos platters and not only does it feed four people comfortably you have fish left over for the next day. They serve you your platter in a big box that's heavy to carry out. Please do not go here. The 2nd Styrofoam dish that I had to order tho I didn't want to give these people anymore of my money...well I ordered a simple whitting sandwich and fries. The bread had more flavor than the fish.

GREAT FOOD! Especially whole belly clams, which I have not been easy to find lately. Definitely would go again.

This was a great value for price and food. The portions met the price point. The Lobster Roll was tender and moist. Not all places can meet that combination of tender and moist. Very flavorful, buttery and nicely toasted bun! The Westville Platter was an equally surprising experience. The blend and portion size of Shrimps, Scallops and Clam Strips, well worth the price. The added Fish Fillet in the Platter, was really light and meaty!

Def a place to check out for seafood platters and hot dogs / hamburgers. Amazing milk shakes!

Not by the seashore, but provided tasty seafood. Nautical decor makes up for its distance from the water. Plenty of seafood choices available. Got fried clams and fried shrimp lunch specials. Reasonably priced. As much inside seating available as possible, and outside seating, too. Would totally recommend and return, if in the area.

8/1/23 I wanted to like this place... I REALLY did, but in all good conscience I can only give it two stars. And that's being generous. I'd driven past this place dozens of times over the years and always vowed to try it. That time came today. It's an order at the counter sort of place. The young woman that took my order wasn't what I'd call sullen, but certainly not terribly friendly either. I perused the overhead menu board and decided on a bowl of New England clam chowder and the combo seafood platter that included fried shrimp, clam strips, scallops and two smallish whitefish fillets. I asked to substitute onion rings for the standard French fries. After a short wait while my order was prepared, I struck up a nice conversation with another patron. Soon, my order was ready and I took it outside to eat at one of the tables with an umbrella. First: the clam chowder was not even in the top ten of all those I've had over these many years. Probably not even in the top twenty. Very little flavor, almost no clams I that I could find. Second: the entire order of fried food was so dark and oily that about 2/3 of the way through, I just had to give up. I never even sampled the fillets. Clearly the cooking oil needed to be filtered or changed. It's unfortunate that I left so disappointed with my dinner, especially considering the (exactly) $43.00 I paid for it. By now it should be obvious that I won't be returning.

Steak and Cheese with peppers, onions, mushrooms Sub is the BEST EVER!! It was extremely flavorsome and delectable, very filling and flavored so well! Very good!

My mom has been coming here since she was a kid. I now have a daughter myself. We all currently live in Massachusetts but still find reasons to visit CT and NY. she made it a point for us to go here for good seafood and prices were surprisingly good. Service was sweet.

Not worth a penny the Soft tail crab sandwich is not supposed to have any shell I spit out 90% of that carb shell the onion rings were lumps of soggy grease the clam strips were more batter than clam my shrimp needed to be de vain the fish was alright not worth $50 bucks at all the girls up front were friendly & very helpful the cooks need to get replaced. My 1st & last time never again beware folks

The prices are spot on the cheapest FRESH fish and chips in the area. Selections are fantastic and they have a dine in section that is amazing. The cashiers are pretty and friendly. I will be back.

Overall this place was clean . The staff was friendly and the food is good . We had the flounder . Shrimp, clams, hotdogs and Georgia hot.

The scallops and clam chowder and Cole slaw are very good. The onion rings would be better if cut thicker. Good local eatery.

Almost $85 for 2 of the scallop, shrimp and clam strips platters and $18 for one lobster roll with only thick melted butter because that was cold too. I just had my husband pick up the food and I'm literally sick to my stomach. It's lukewarm, bland, the scallops are rubbery it's nasty and going directly in the trash. It's a huge waste of money. This is my first and last experience with this business.

Clam strips were cooked toobhard and were tiny slivers. Not enjoyable 🤕, fish and chips were not traditionally prepared but tasty. Fried dough can't go wrong 😋

You HAVE to get the lobster roll! Warm buttered roll, lobster cooked perfectly! Onion rings as a side, really good, thin, perfect.

I've been in the area all my life and this location has been many restaurants. The first one I remember is Big Top. A lot, in between, have been dives. Didn't mean the food was bad, but it gave that impression. So that's what I thought I was getting when I decided to give Westville Seafood a try recently. First, it was clean. And the dining room in back was clean and neat and semi-inviting. And even though they only have a small parking lot and it's more of an industrial setting, they put a nice deck in back with seating that is probably pretty nice in the warmer weather. As for the food.... very pleased so far. I've come here three times so far, and I've ordered the clam strip roll, a footlong hotdog, and a cheese burger. The clam strip roll was full enough so that I had some extra to eat after I was done with the roll. The hotdog tasted just right, and the cheese burger had a great consistency to it and tasted great with a nice serving of cheese. The buns were fresh on all three. If any of those attribute don't happen in the future, including serving size, I'll be disappointed, but they've earned one "get out of jail free" card so far, so I'd probably come back again to see if it was an anomaly. I'll definitely be back.

Food is good. Service is wonderful!!! Love going in to see the two ladies at the front counter. They are my reason to always stop in.

Excellent place to go have lunch. Lady at front was helpful and accommodating. Portions are generous, food is great. They have an awesome seating area in the back with a full bar and nautical theming. I would wholeheartedly recommend eating here.

Did a lobster roll tour around the area. I feel when you order a warm lobster roll Connecticut style it should be dripping butter and glistening with moistness and need napkins after your done. I’ve got more butter on my hands eating popcorn then this hehe. This one was rather dry and definitely won’t be making my “must have list”. Good things: Price point was very fair. 4 stars because the roll wasn’t horrible, just not great. Service was fast and friendly and I’m sure there’s other stuff on the menu that might be better. We also tried the fried dough just because we never seen it before, kids loved it. Tasted like, fried dough heh.

Quick stop on a Tuesday for lunch. Split a Lobster roll and a fish n chips. Lobster roll was excellent...good amount, good quality, etc. Fish and chips were ok but nothing to write home about. They serve bottle beer and small wines and have an outdoor seating area, though it's right next to a very busy road. I'd go back if I'm in the area, but wouldn't make a trip for it.

I had never been to the new place in my day it was "The Big Top" Restaurant, that was many, many years ago. I am pleased to say the good was still up to par, excellent Bacon 🥓 Cheese Burger, fresh made, very tasty

My first experience was a few years ago and it was amazing. I couldn't wait to get back. Happily we were passing through Connecticut and we made the decision to go out of our way to make a stop. We were disappointed, it definitely did not live up to our first and second experience. The shrimp seemed smaller, less flavorful and the fried fish needed seasoning. Maybe because it was during the off season we got a blah batch. Not sure if I will return.

Easy on and off the Wilbur Cross parkway. A great variety of seafood. Good lobster roll if you like the Connecticut style. And if you're not a seafood lover they have subs or grinders available also.

Usually, better than good food. But, not this time. Warmed up left-over from lunch rush hour dogs on dry buns in the hot dog special. Overly cooked soft shell crab sandwich. Everyone swings and misses sometime. I’ll come back anyway, because this isn’t typical.

I definitely can't take away from the quality of the meal. I do have to say something about quantity, I had the fish and chips, it was awesome, and for the price, it was perfect. My wife had the clamstrips, for the price, I think there should have been more for 17 bucks, it was pretty much a handful, should have filled the plastic container for that price. But, all in all, I was satisfied. I would do again but will mention it on the next order..

Most of the food is pretty good. Don't order the club sandwiches, they don't know what is supposed to be in a club. Hint: it starts with the same letter as club. You can google it. Any picture of a club sandwich will show you it.

Lobster Roll was great. Warm sweet meat on toasted hotdog bun. The surprise was the excellent scallops. Only disappointment was the didn't have whole belly calms. I remember when this place was The Big Top hamburger place. While I'm sure their burgers are good I would go straight to the seafood.
